Rusty expresses his rage with an effective clout at the slippery Archdevil while Amenephus at last puts an end to one of the tiefling preachers.

Rusty's moment of vengeance is sweet indeed. His blow nearly finishes the Archdevil and Dorvin is not slow to follow up. Masterstroke sings in the dwarf's hands as Mammon's Will falls.

"Well, things seem to be going a bit better. For us that is, not for you, though I don't know why you'd imagine things would work out well for you, the rules of narrative mean that we should have a really tough fight before finally triumphing and that means you have to lose. Though I suppose it's possible that we're just the first group to try to defeat you that doesn't know the secret of it, and there'll be another group of adventurers following on behind who will be able to question the last survivor about what went wrong before he finally expires, not that I've seen any other groups of adventurers following us, no one else knows of any, do they, I think that would be rather an anti-climax personally though obviously less so for the other party. Rusty dispenses some valuable advice as he advances on the Shard, refusing to accept defeat. Dorvin moves alongside and nods to Rusty as he shuffles the dragonborn into a convenient flanking position. Raising Masterstroke, he drives it into the shard and watches satisfied as lava spews from its wounds.

Surround the Foe. Dorvin shifts Rusty around a bit to flank.

Nayce moves toward the Corrupted Shard and attempts to entangle it in shadow.

Move to L20. Strangling Shadow on CS. 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37 vs Fort. 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 damage on a hit and the target takes ongoing 5 damage and is immobilized (save ends both). Miss: Half damage, and the target is immobilized (save ends).
Effect: Until the target saves against this power, you can pull the target 3 squares as a free action once during each of your turns.

1 shroud on CS.

Nayce slides behind the Shard and loops a mesh of shadow around it and holding it in place.

Seeing the danger, the tiefling sends more fire towards the assassin.

"Well, you don't I suppose have to give up being evil entirely, there is a place for evil in the world, but I don't think this is it since we're certainly in the process of winning this fight and I don't imagine you're going to enjoy being around while we do it, after all we are doing all sorts of nasty things involving swords and hammers and various other weapons, and of course I'm throwing around lots of electricity which I imagine must be quite painful, though come to think of it most of my enemies seem to throw other things around. Fire, ice, or spears, mostly, though I have been hit by other missiles such as boots which aren't terribly comfortable when they hit you, although that makes me wonder whether throwing well-worn-in boots would mean they did less harm than new and presumably less comfortable boots, not that I expect you to have studied such things." Guldarin adds words to the bolt of divine energy he throws at the devil.

Hit the Weak Spot vs D1, 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24 vs Ref, 2d8 + 11 ⇒ (2, 8) + 11 = 21 radiant damage; the targets resistances are reduced by 9 and it's vulnerabilities are increased by 4 teomnt
If the devil remains upright Swordy will fly to S21 (move) and take a swing at it (minor), 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19 vs Fort, 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 damage, otherwise that attack goes to the Shard.

Need a save v ongoing fire from you, Guldarin.

Guldarin's torrent of words fall on deaf ears. This time the devil is watching as when the inevitable blast of lightning comes, ducks aside.

"Really? You think fleeing would be a good choice?" It looks around the increasingly denuded chamber.

"It's possible. I could possibly serve Lord Mammon better out in the world, calling the faithful to his service. It's not as if anyone else is going to live to betray me, now is it?"

D1 gives the idea serious consideration as he waits to see if Mammon will respond to his internal pleas.

Swordy takes another stoic but useless swipe at the raging shard as Amenephus calls on his goddess to strengthen him. She restores him and helps him rid himself of the various afflictions he suffers from the attacks of the evil crew.

Saves:
v slow - 1d20=18
v ongoing fire - 1d20=10
v -2 attacks - 1d20=15

D1 yips triumphantly as Mammon grants his power yet again.

"Fatso's turn."

Betrayal of Riches (Fort) v Dorvin. On hit roll 1d6 for secondary effect
1d20+16=19 v Dorvin. Miss.

D1 now looks as if fleeing might genuinely be an option for him.

"The Boss isn't so good with failure..."

Shift to M20.

Using his shield, Rusty makes it difficult for the Shard to predict where the next attack is coming from.

Shield Feint
d20(11) + 17 + 2 – 2 = 28 vs CS's AC for d10(5) + 10 + 3 = 18 damage.

Rusty's shield drives into the shard nearly felling it as the dragonborn shuffles awkwardly, trying to get his armour to sit properly on his shoulders once more.

Dorvin grits his teeth and swings, sensing that the end is near. Masterstroke sings high and true in his hands and the shard disintegrates under the blow.

"Run now, leave this place," warns Grajava. "The Forge must cleanse itself."

Her meaning is quite plain. The floor is turning to lava beneath your feet.

Everywhere is now difficult terrain and extremely hot. You need to get out of there as fast as possible. For each turn you remain in the chamber you take cumulative fire damage:
1 turn - 10 fire damage
2 turns - 15 fire damage
3 turns - 20 fire damage etc.

Just to make sure in advance. Flying creatures Amy - and Swordy thinking about it - aren't affected by difficult terrain. And Amy can carry someone out.
Guldarin is bloodied again, 23/65 hit points

"Time to make best speed for the exit, I think, unless you're actually happy with swimming in lave which not many people are, although I suppose we could see if the anvils float and if they do we could sail away on them, assuming we had any sails and a suitable wind and any of us know how to sail ships, which although I've been thrown off a few I don't." Guldarin peers across the room. "How about that, little devil. It looks like oyu should have got out of here after all."

Quite right - Amy and Swordy are not affected by the terrain.

The devil looks very doubtful as lava boils up around his feet.

"It's a bit hot even for me," he admits.

"Still - no hard feelings, eh?"

Male Half-elf Assassin 14 / Obsidian Stalker

Nayce slips into a form of shadow and makes his escape. "I can see myself out. Guldarin, see if your allies can assist one of the others."

Action point. Triple move with phasing to ignore difficult terrain and all obstacles in my path to walk out the door. W15 if location matters (assuming that is a safe area).

The way I read the phasing rules, it should avoid the lava obstacles. If I have to jump them, Acrobatics 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32, 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19.

"Well I do try to give out good advice when I can, at least some of the time, although I will admit that it has been the case on a few occasions that things didn't really work out as I expected them to and the things I thought were good advice turned out to be bad, not that it was always my fault. And of course there aren't any hard feelings, I'm sure you're a decent chap really, mind you I would prefer it if you played nicer with other people's toys rather than making them drop things all the time, though I have to admit making someone's helmet fall over their eyes amused me rather more than it should have done."

Guldarin picks his way around one of the fire pits, and summons Amy closer to him. In a flurry of feathers, Swordy disappears.

Move to N21
Amy to N20
Minor; another second wind, 29/65 hit points after environment damage
I think I can dismiss a summoned creature as a free action, and Swordy isn't suited for carrying people out of here. Amy can lift one person at a time closer to the exit.

Amenephus, you might want to move. There's a certain urgency about getting out of there.

Amenephus shows no signs of letting bygones be bygones as he launches another blast of divine light at the devil.

D1 winces. "Not so much with the forgiveness, I guess. I'll just be saying tata then."

Dodging through the lava, he prudently passes on the other side of the shattered statue and waves politely at Nayce on the way through.

Dorvin shoulders Masterstroke and plods stoically to the exit.
