Things grow sketchy within the coach. Mary Dawnrose, where do you stand on PVP combat? Some things just cannot be said to a dwarven warpriest.
Mary Dawnrose
It's a halloween special, like a good horror flick, things can take a weird twist.
If there is friendly arguments to be had, i'd allow it to some degree, on condition that there is a mutual consent of those involved to do so. But lets save the fatalities for the enemy, if both would agree to have it come to that.
You wouldn't want whatever evil force is out there, to do something sinister with your corpse, right?
Agnar Ironbeard
Already determined that the current threat is not evil.
And no, I'd prefer not to PvP any player. But Agnar is not gonna sit by and be insulted in his religion either. Them's fighting words.
Mary Dawnrose
Hahaha.
Or just witty RP.
I mean, i wrote a 2 page rhyme for my gran-nan about a nintendo-wii controller years ago, which made it also sound the rhyme being about a vibrator, so innuendo and the like could be used as tools for a duel as well.
Yes, she cried tears of laughter.

I don't fault anyone for not having magicked weapons for range since we're primarily melee.
I didn't even take magic weapon as spell known since it can't be casted on Shadow(I'd need magic fang) and should I want to do something against DR/magic or incorps, I have other options.
Also GM, could I suggest some constructive botting of Balegar? =P
Fine, I'm an impatient fk.
Mary Dawnrose
With the many website blackouts, i hadn't done botting. :)
But i will now.

An epicure, dining at Crewe (where is it?)
Found quite a large mouse in his stew.
Said the waiter. “Don’t shout
And wave it about
Or others will be wanting one too.

Stuff about references in the game
Vaunu will do it better then I - since I believe he has spent more time at the movies =)
The references are not excluded to movies, they can also be TV series or horror games.
Alluriel
I don't watch TV in the sense of fiction. I have been very...sheltered.
If you like you can think about me abit like Elsa from Frozen.
Horror generally isn't my favorite genre.
Alluriel
When I was younger - we weren't allowed to watch television much - mostly we were encouraged to read. I'd generally play turn based strategy games like heroes of might and magic series if I wasnt in a book.
Rarely my parents would borrow a cartoon tape now and then for me to watch.
It was pretty much until I went for an overseas trip when I was around 14,when I saw cartoon network for the first time. I was like ROFL, then my friend and room mate found my laughing a little excessive and asked if that was the first time I watched cartoon network. I told her yes.
They don't do cartoons like they used to now, anyway.
Mary Dawnrose
I have not seen Frozen, so the hinting to whatever the topic eludes me.
And horror might be a strong term. Series and games with a spooky setting would apply.
Mary Dawnrose
Cartoon Network after school, i remember that.
And heroes of might & magic, i used to kill so much time with those.
1 through 3. :D
Which ones did you have?
Alluriel
Awww.. I suppose not everyone goes around singing Let it go?
A little betrayal on the house of the hill, but I'm rather susceptible to jump scares in RL(it screws up any attempt for me to play First person shooters since I get stunned if someone jumps me around the corner), so I never really cared for watching horror movies. Because I don't understand why you'd pay to scream.
But different strokes for different people, I suppose.
Alluriel
2,3 and 5.
Always elf faction for favorite.Though undead comes a close second due to vampire lords as well. The wizard/academy faction troops are too expensive, but titans I know are seriously powerful. Too bad you don't get to use them much, since they're super expensive.
Fun fact. Elf heroes s*ck commanding their own troops. In heroes 2,the magic hero had knowledge as base primary Stat. In 3,the might hero had defense as base primary Stat. Get a barbarian hero instead, for the super high offense Stat then use the naturally high initiative of the elf troops to wipe the board.
Did Age of Wonders as well, I likes Nordic glows. So fluffeh. And 4 of them basically can kill most enemy rulers in campaign mode. Magic attacks so you can get them to deal with pesky wraith and incarnates, physical protection so you are less vulnerable compared to other fliers to Archers. Their to hit is a little iffy, but once they get their veteran status it isn't too bad, and besides there's always magic weapon. Good mobility too.
Yes I know it'd be a Wil of wisp in pathfinder.
Agnar Ironbeard
Never say Frozen either.
I like some horror: the intelligent kind, not the hacker slasher type. Poltergeist was great. The Shining was good. Suspense can be good. And I really like well done Exorcist type movies. Was Constantine horror?

I don't do a lot of 'horror' but I guess I mean 'slasher films.' I like 'old school monster' movies: vampires, werewolves, zombies. That sort of thing. Loved the B.F. 'mummy' trilogy, the T.C. newer version was just ok. So, I wouldn't call 'Constantine' horror. Maybe 'supernatural thriller'?
Alluriel
Mummy was fine. I prefer the first one over the others - but again that seems to be the way for movies. I did watch the witch hunter, play quite a bit of Witcher (even if I make a horrible one since I AM scared of the dark and can't function in it).
I even freaking took to carrying a ghost lantern around because I can't be left alone in the dark...
Torches weren't working out since the shadows they were throwing makes it very disorientating in combat.
Mary Dawnrose
Which Witcher game do you, or have you, play(ed)?
There are 3 by now.
Just a Mort
|
First, and playing 3rd. Always Quen. Quen is your best friend.
Doing a caster build at the moment with griffin school in Witcher 3 and setting things on fire...(go Igni!)
I know it'll come to bite me late game, but for now, what can I say, I'm a pryomaniac?
Nah I wanted to do the Aard route but it seems the knockdown duration just isn't long enough, besides Aard seems to take a while to cast, and Igni has the same effect of getting them to flinch.
So you Quen, see a roomful of baddies, Igni, smack em up a little, while they flinch, hopefully taking down some of them, then roll backwards, switch direction and start smacking more.
Yes I know you can sidestep, and rolling is rather...crude, but no I never mastered the finer points of evasion. There's also parrying blows, but I find it not worth it since Witcher is mostly monsters, which can't be parried. And the timing needs to be precise.
Since its a skill that works only against humanoid enemies, I can't be arsed to learn it.
Alluriel
I'd like to run it past you GM, before I try it. What would be the effect if Vaunu kept watch the whole night(and probably ending up fatigued the next day), then I removed his fatigue with lesser restoration?
Mary Dawnrose
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to fix something that way.
Though i can imagine him getting bored. ^^
And you spending a spell slot.
Alluriel
The easier way is using keep watch but unfortunately it is not on the cleric/oracle spell list. Oh we going PFS that's why I didn't have my ring of sustenance and craft wondrous ;)
Mary Dawnrose
At current state, i can see who'll be tossed as monster bait in a retreat situation. X)
Jurgan
lol this dwarf wont die that easy. I'll just make a bargain with the monster to eat the others lol
Mary Dawnrose
It worked in the Hellraiser movie.
Which happens to be a horror movie too. :)
Jurgan
Hellraiser is good but all the others one are HORRID! Hmm where are the cenobites when I need them.
Alluriel
Watches - Vaunu keeps watch all night - I'll fix him up the next morning. The room doors will be open, and windows will have items stacked against them(try a cupboard or something) so that no one can do a window entry.
I will respond to your post on train, Jurgan. Need to get breakfast and all that.
Alluriel
There's actually a better idea. Balegar uses spell kenning for keep watch. Who should watch though...
Alluriel
If we use keep watch for two on night watch, I think the best candidates are Vaunu and Agnar.
Sorry the reply took so long but it needed some cross referencing, which is a pain on phone.
Alluriel
Also issue without keep watch is you may have problems with spell prep the next day though technically if your God grants you powers you just need to pray at the right time.
Like for me it wouldnt work - because I need to rest to regain spells.

It would work for you. It calls out wizards but is clearly broadened 'and so on' to all casters.
Not that I'm suggesting the oracle keeps watch all night.
Alluriel
Keep watch works for everyone. Without keep watch, I can't prepare spells after staying up a whole night to watch.
Alluriel
Sorry, but 4h before this I would be sleeping soundly, so yeah, no posts.
Usually I need a while to clear the nights backlog, and I need to think before I get the dialogues out.
And yesh, I like showing off my memory =)
Mary Dawnrose
Who knows what else is living herr with them?'
... :3
Mary Dawnrose
I kinda thought you'd ask her to take her chances to perform a seance herself.
But whatever works for you. :)
Yet, the others might have questions for her, or want to get a reading?
Agnar Ironbeard
thats for your character to decide. Jurgan is being as polite as he knows how seeing where we came from to now that's a big improvement. but im sure youd likely undestand he isnt going to take flack from a priest. He loves the opportunity to antagonize so if it seems to him you are he will.
Sorry to say this but to me he is acting irrational and unintelligent and its taking away my focus of the game and sucking away any enjoyment of the game. Agnar clearly stated a preference. It was the first thing he said in a very short post. Two sentences. One said "I am for dealing with the Kobolds." I was looking forward to this game but I am currently having no fun with it at all so I think I'll drop. I actually dread having to post right now. You seem unwilling to compromise and change your play style. What you consider fun I think of as rude as a player, antagonistic, poor play style, and mean spirited. I'd certainly not tolerate it as a GM and I'd rather not play than deal with it.
Jurgan
Agnar if you wish to stay then do so I am fine dropping out since I was last to join.
I'd like to mention the fact that in every case I was just replying to your character's comments made to Jurgan. If this is not enjoyable to you then why would you have framed Agnar's dialogue at Jurgan the way you did.
If you had such issue then why not say something in ooc? Or better yet in discussion. It is your choice if you want to continue to play or not.
If you wish to continue this we can talk about it in PM or if you wish we can continue this here in discussion.
Mary Dawnrose
Seems i have to press the big time-out button here.
If people are starting to genuinely feel uncomfortable, that's a problem. :o
Jurgan, would you downplay antagonize as sarcasm or bad puns?
Evil wins if heroes fight among themselves, in RP terms.
I'd hate to lose players over this. :(
Alluriel
Oh dear. I so do not sort out quarrels well...and Vaunu is in bed.
I do understand how you feel since someone threatened to have me arrested as a witch in the discussion which was for the recruitment RP.
That incident has a strong dose of irony in it.
But it takes two hands to clap - so I think each of you need to take a step back and think about what both of you have said.
Agnar was trying to apologize here, which wasn't easy for him, so Jurgan could also try to understand that.
Jurgan - things you may say that you think is in the name of good fun may not be in the name of good fun to others - and the freedom to swing your fist ends at your neighbours nose.
Angar also - eh you could just ignore Jurgan because he's RPing his 8 Charisma. Honestly I wouldn't pick a fight with people if they said stuff about my God, even if I were a cleric, since I feel that everyone has freedom of worship. But again I've always been one as far as possible for player freedom(at least to the point you start screwing the party over). Just treat Jurgan as a prattling box. One ear in, one ear out, unless he's actually saying something useful for once.
We're fellow gamers - each of us are different and have different tolerance levels.
*Does not envy the GM having to sort this out*
