Tillia |
K, decided that, for the sake of simplicity, I'm just going to ditch the craft wondrous and arcane builder discovery with greater spell focus enchantment and fast study discovery. I now have three spell slots that are left open, I can prepare them with only 1 minutes prep time now at any point later in the day.
My revised want list is as follows
1.) Headband of Int +2 (perception ranks)
2.) Circlet of Persuasion
3.) Metamgic Rod of Extend Spell (lesser)
At some point I want to try and track down those sleves of many garments, but they're cheap enough that I don't feel the need to roll for them randomly and will simply go looking for them at some point.
Fabian Benavente |
Shouldn't a CLW wand be something we buy outta the party pool with common funds, since it very directly helps out each and every one of us?
It should and Tillia had other communal items like a ring of swimming, if I remember correctly.
And I don't think Vandomir understood the 'three options' per item that you want to buy. And I haven't really looked at everyone's level up info; did everyone provide that yet?
Truth is that I'm still away from home but should be home in a couple of days. I intend to do all PC management this weekend so we can continue with the story.
What I need from everyone is to: a) level up your PCs, b) tally your wealth (including your part of the communal items), and c) give me three options for each magic item you want to buy.
Questions?
Game on!
Fabian Benavente |
I agree, I clearly don't understand. What do you mean by "three options for each magic item you want to buy?"
For each 'major purchase', I want to have some uncertainty regarding whether the item you want is available or not but I also want you to have something you may want.
We'll do what we did last time and give me 3 items(1st 50% chance, 2nd 30% chance, and 3rd with 20%). I'll roll.
Look at Tillia's post 3051 above.
In your case, give me three options for the item worth approx. 3,400 gp (adaptive composite bow +1) and three options for an item worth 2,200 gp (ring of feather falling).
The wand of CLW is OK.
Is this clear?
Sorry but internet is spotty right now so we'll have to wait for a decent post.
Vandomir Jarvis |
Ok, here are my two lists.:
1) 3,400 gp (adaptive composite bow +1)
2) 3,000 gp (make breastplate +2)
3) 3,000 gp (swarmbane clasp)
1) 2,500 gp (cloak of elvenkind)
2) 2,200 gp (ring of feather falling).
3) 1,800 gp (hat of disguise)
Tillia |
1.) headband of Int +2 (per)>Circlet of Persuasion>Pearl of Power (2nd)
2.) Ring of Prot +1>Amulet of Nat Armor +1>Pearl of Power (1st) x2
That should do.

As they dragged Wex's body into his apartment, they had to consider what to do with the body. They couldn't take it back to the coffeehouse because there were too many checkpoints to go through. "Do we want the body to disappear or do we want it to further the Silver Ravens' cause? If we want it to disappear, we just need to get our hands on some lye and the chemical with do the rest. I guess we could always hide it but we run the risk of the smell alerting others to its presence. How do you guys want to proceed?"

Caleb stared at the inquisitor for a moment "That's cold." In a louder - though still quiet - voice he continued "Without proof beyond our words, I think it's just a liability. I say we dump it, then get Tillia to do illusions of Werx around tomorrow, in case anyone thinks it was us. We can out out word we stopped the killer seperately - as long as there aren't copycats and no picks up the mantle..." here he glances at the dagger for a second "...that should 'further the cause'."
Carefully he wrapped another silk rag around the knife. "As for this - long term we do need to do something. Short term I guess we need to lock it up in a safe, or bury it, or something."

"As for this - long term we do need to do something. Short term I guess we need to lock it up in a safe, or bury it, or something."
"Lock it in a strongbox and ask our friend the navy captain to drop it over the side where the sea is particularly deep," Eirik said, relieved that the mystic seemed over his urge to claim the blade for himself. "That, or I can try to break it myself - there are certain techniques I have been trying to master which would allow me to do it, presuming I manage to perfect them."
Eirik Clausen |
Hmm... magical kukri... light blade, so 10 Hardness, 2 HP. Every magical +1 adds 2 Hardness and 10 HP. Hardness can be ignored using Shattering Punch. Eirik can do 1d8 + 1d6/2 +1 damage on the dagger every 6 seconds, so an average of 70 points a minute. Assuming the kukri had less than +7 property, Eirik can pulverize it in that time. Shall we proceed?
Vandomir Jarvis |
Level up to Ranger -5
+6 hit points
some of these apparently I had not incremented previously when I made 4th level, so the jumps seem bigger.
+1 Climb
+2 Craft(stonemasonry)
+4 Disable Device
+10 Disguise (from the hat!)
+1 Escape Artist
+1 Fly
+2 Handle Animal
+3 Knowledge(local)
+2 Perception
+1 Ride
+3 Stealth
+2 Survival
+2 Swim
Favored Enemy is now +4 vs Humans and +2 vs Evil Outsiders
Deadly Aim for -2/+4
Longbow to hit is +2 more than it was, so +10 total now
Greatsword is +1 more than it was, so +9 now
+1 Fort
+2 Reflex
I am now maintaining two level 1 spells memorized: Liberating Command and Residual Tracking.
Star also got some improvements when I made level.
Fabian Benavente |
Go ahead and roll for our items, Fabian. Wanna know what I can write about finding :-)
belt of dex +2 being Eirik's first choice, second being Body Wrap of Mighty Strikes +1 and third being Bracers of armor +2...
roll to see which item: 1d100 ⇒ 71, Body Wrap of Mighty Strikes +1

Carefully he wrapped another silk rag around the knife. "As for this - long term we do need to do something. Short term I guess we need to lock it up in a safe, or bury it, or something."
Noravia looked back at Caleb, not wanting to admit that his words had stabbed at her heart a little. "I'm sorry if my words offended your sensibilities. It's not like the people who trained me are known for being warm or kind hearted. We could always lock him up in his secret room for now and deal with the body later. If we dump his body somewhere else the risk for detection increases."
When the discussion switched to the weapon proper, Noravia liked the idea of destroying the kukri more than sending it to the bottom of the sea. "We can explore ways to destroy the weapon. If we dump it in the sea then it may still be discovered or who knows what it may do to the sea life that encounter it. We could ask Hetamon's opinion when we return - or if Eirik can destroy it without hurting himself, even better."
Tillia |
Action 1
"I think it might be worth putting his body in that secret room and leave it ajar slightly. We can leave a calling card of some kind and let the landlady find him. As long as there is evidence in there that he is...was the slasher then she may well spread the word for us. That saves us from having to dispose of him or to find a way to start the story of our victory ourselves." She looked warily at the knife and said, "I'm all for trying to destroy it, I just suggest that we try to put a protection spell on whoever is going to carry the box, I'd think a simple protection spell against evil should do the trick. The only problem is I don't know such a spell."
Action 2
When they returned tot eh coffee house Tillia took the books that they had found up to Rexus and said, "We dealt with the murderer and found several texts in a hidden place in his room, I think we might be able to learn much from them. Of particular interest is a section about the geology around the city and some strange properties that it seems to have. I don't know why but something about that concerns me."
Caleb Cage |
Action 1
"Sorry. I've hung around a lot of criminals, but they were pretty much scofflaws, rather than killers. Most fights end in a beating, sort of thing. I know this is a war, and people die, it's just..." Caleb trailed off "Still, glad someone's got experience in disposing of bodies I guess. Tillia, I suppose you're right. The room is evidence as to his nature. Not sure how we can make sure the discoverer works it out though."
"I'm pretty sure I'm going to be okay. If you're worried I can hold it with my mind, I guess."
Action 2
Er, Caleb doesn't know about the books as I recall.

”I shall make the attempt then,” Eirik said, knowing he’d have a busy night ahead of himself, trying to meditate through the last few hurdles that stood between him and his mastery of the new technique. ”If I fail, we can talk about throwing the accursed thing into the sea.” The decision made, Eirik vanished into the murderer’s room to look for some small box or bundle to carry the dagger in.
Fabian Benavente |
Action 2
Er, Caleb doesn't know about the books as I recall.
Go ahead and assume that someone did and act on that knowledge.
BTW, I'll finally get to the Ravens actions that I've postponing for a while now.
It's important for me to know what you will do with the body and the information that the 'Slasher' is killed.
Questions?

Fabian Benavente |
Fabian, can Eirik deal with the dagger as I suggested? Wanna know if I should post for a success or a failure attempting it.
Yes, it's possible but I was waiting until next morning to let you know through rumors (depending on whether the general populace knew about the Slasher depending on what you do with body and information) that the Church of Shelyn and Abadar have a 'bounty' on the kukri.
Since the above is player knowledge and I want you al to act on character knowledge, why don;t we have Eirik consider breaking it but not go through it just yet. Maybe he needs some special meditation or special materials or something like that.
Once you hopefully hear the above rumors, then you can deal with it as you want (ven breaking it if it's what you all want).

The room is evidence as to his nature. Not sure how we can make sure the discoverer works it out though."
"Let us not forget the important part - the killings have been stopped. I see no particular reason to blame or implicate the man who wielded the blade, for he is already past mortal judgment. Let us just leave him here and announce justice has been served through the actions of the Ravens. Eventually, he will be found and his remains put to rest."

Noravia picked up what looked like a journal that Varl had been keeping. "This seems to speak to his crimes and the state of his mind. I don't think there's anything particular in here that we would benefit from. I say we leave his body in his hidden room as suggested by Tillia and leave this journal in his lap and the door open so that he's easily found. Then we lock the door and take the rest of the stuff with us."
Considering Tillia's comment about protecting the carrier from evil, Noravia said, "Thankfully I have access to that particular spell, however, it doesn't last as long as it will take us to get back. I would have to recast it as we go. If that's preferential, I can go ahead and do that on whoever is carrying the kukri."

"I trust we can manage," Eirik said, sizing up a promising shoulder pack. "If the blade was so steeped in evil it's mere presence took over a man's mind, it wouldn't have been so many years between the killers wielding it. Granted, I'm hardly an expert on curses, but if we avoid touching the thing, I would guess we are fine. At least in short term."
Tillia |
Action 1 con't.
Tillia considered the issue and said, "I think that, so long as it's in a container of somekind, we should only need the spell in place when touching the dagger directly. If we were to wrap it and then put it in a box of some kind, we could probably put it in my hand bag here. All of that with the extra dimensional space inside of my bag should be enough to protect us from undue influence. Since I'll be carrying the bag I'm the one most likely to be influenced and the least likely to actually do any harm before you can subdue if I am influenced by it."
Vandomir Jarvis |
The skinny man thought about playing a joke on them and feign that he was possessed but one look at Vandomir’s sword and Eirik’s stern look stopped that. Some people just have no humor
So that is some funny stuff!
It certainly was my intent for the Silver Ravens to get credit for saving the city from Wex. I believe I pretty loudly proclaimed it was us when we originally accosted him, right? So I suggest we stick with that and figure out how to a) make sure his guilt is known and b) make sure the city knows we are responsible.
I'll try and get something IC posted, but no promises for today.

Action 1
Eirik frowned at the news the two churches were interested in the artifact. ”I don’t think we should take the offer, even from my church. Not before I try and fail to destroy the accursed blade for good, at the least,” Eirik mused. ”If I am successful, we could send a few shards to the churches, enough perhaps to allow them to verify the blade has been broken… assuming, of course, that any remnant of the taint will linger in such pieces. But in my mind, no place of safekeeping is better than ridding ourselves of the thing for good. I don’t see how such an evil item could be cleansed to safely use, and despite best intentions, someone could steal the item even from the churches’ holds.”
Noravia Jeggare |
Action 1:
Noravia almost snorted out loud when they learned that the official government had thanked the Ravens for their service. It must have tormented those in charge to have to say something nice about the Ravens. She had no doubt that at the same time they released their official statement of praise, that there was an unofficial bounty issued on the Ravens as well, along with rewards for any information about them. "We'll have to be more careful with who we share information with now that the government has had to officially recognize the Ravens. Previously they could pretend that the Ravens didn't exist but now that we've been acknowledged, they'll put resources into tracking us down and eliminating any threat to their power."
The inquisitor nodded her agreement. "Destroying the weapon is the best option to eliminate the chance of future victims. Before you try destroying it, we could consult with Hetamon about divine ways to remove the evil. Consecrate may work but it would help to get another opinion. In any case, whoever needs to touch the weapon, I will provide them with protection from the kukri's evil."
Action 2:
Octavio's offer of The Lucky Bones was fortuitous indeed. "It sounds like this former gambling hall could be very useful indeed. If a thieve's guild used it as part of their operations then we can definitely expect some surprises by way of traps. All in all, it sounds like an interesting proposition. I'm up for a little exploring but if the rest of you would rather send one of the teams then I'm ok with that too."
Caleb Cage |
Action 1
"I don't know. That money could probably make a difference to the rebellion." Caleb is obviously tempted by the idea of the reward."More money could really help us outfit some of our people, maybe bribe enough people to make a difference."
"I think we need to prioritise finding some safe houses, and somewhere else to meet people. This semi-open vice model works for us, but if we've gotten to the point the government is openly acknowledging us, we really need to think about security. Eirik: do you think your trainees could look into renting some houses for us?"
proposing we look at upgrading that team
"In the meantime, I keep feeling like we're missing something. We're lucky that people have come to us with things to follow up, but I can't help wondering how much we're missing. I'm thinking of asking Korva and Sasha to have their people make an effort to keep their ear to the ground for the next week or so. Maybe we can get word of where Nox is hiding, what the move against us will be, or just what else we're missing."
Action 2
"I'm in!" announced Caleb cheerfully. "We need some places that are a little more secure. This place sounds like it could work. Also, if it does have things we can use, so much the better. If we're really lucky they might even have some magic items to help get in and assassinate people, or routes for secret doors, or something. Maybe we could kill THRUNE and knock this whole thing over!" Caleb beamed before becoming more sober."I think we need to assume there might still be some defences though. What should we expect from this Nogrober? Undead, right? It's always undead with cults." sic. Caleb has no knowledge:religion skill, so 'Nogrober' it is.
Eirik Clausen |
"Eirik: do you think your trainees could look into renting some houses for us?"
"I shall ask," Eirik answered, slightly hesitantly. Not that he was about to voice his concern, the leader of the small team he was nominally in charge gave him the creeps sometimes.
By all means, let's update Eirik's team this week. Looking forward to eventulally getting them to lvl 3 for the Sabotage action ;^) And I'm in the process of writing something about Eirik's team, as it happens, but I have been feeling rather awful these last few days and haven't been able to muster the effort. Hope things take a turn for the better soon.
Tillia |
Action 1
Tillia considered the issue of the blade, both options sounded very intriguing to her and she finally said, "I would suggest that we take the blade to one of the temples and see about breaking it there. By doing that we'll have help immediately available in case something goes wrong and no distance to travel if we find that we can't break it. Personally I'd recommend the Shelynites, they've proven to be trustworthy and I believe it would be safer in the hands of their clergy, after all, Shelyn herself wields a once cursed glaive, that says much to me on how well they could deal with a weapon of this sort."
Action 2
When they met with the Lector Tillia found herself quite pleased with what he had to tell them. This seemed like a gift from the god's, which did make her somewhat suspicious, and it should be an opportunity that they seized. "I think scouting the place should be a high priority, we need a bigger, and more secret, place to work from. We've obviously become a bit too public about where we can be found."
