Not meaning to whine, especially given two characters have been taken out already, but... Caleb was on top of a building, and rolled to stay out of LOS. I was figuring he moved from one level to another. He seems to have ended up in the middle of the bridge, however.
I know a Dragon can still fly up, of course.
Hmmm - unless I'm wrong. Those are buildings on the side of the bridge, aren't they?
Also, remember the Dragon gets a -4 to saves if it is old enough to cast.

Can you repeat the Song of Silver effects, Fabian? I tried to look for it yesterday but managed to miss the turn summary it was written in.

And if THIS was supposed to be a surprise attack... I'm shocked that some groups managed to survive a TPK... although they had the option to cut and run, since the dragon hadn't made its ultimatum to burn down the city around us yet.

It's on Turn 513 (and here).

The legendary “Song of Silver” once allowed the Silver Ravens to shield the city of Kintargo with a potent defensive ward.
In order to function, the “Song of Silver” must be performed on stage in the Kintargo Opera House; no audience is needed, but activating the song requires a successful DC 20 Perform (sing) check. Once the song is successfully performed, the rooftop of the Kintargo Opera House glows with silver light for a week, during which time the effects detailed below are active. The song can be performed only once per month, so once it’s activated, the PCs have only a week to take advantage of its bonuses.
The effects can’t be dispelled, and they persist without interruption for a week, unless the person who performed the song is slain, in which case the effects end at once.
As long as the effects persist, all weapons wielded in the Kintargo city limits count as silver for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction, and all evil outsiders must succeed at DC 25 caster level checks to use any form of dimensional travel, such as teleport or plane shift. On a failed check, the effect does not function and the creature becomes staggered for 1 round.
As the song is performed, the performer can select a number of specific targets in attendance in the audience in the Opera House to gain additional benefits from the Song’s effects. In addition to the performer, each PC in attendance can be included, along with up to four NPCs of the party’s choice.
The selected characters gain a +4 sacred bonus on saving throws against charm and compulsion effects and become immune to fear effects for the duration of the song’s effects. As an immediate action, a character can end these to automatically succeed at a saving throw or to gain the effects of breath of life (CL 20th). Once this action is taken, the character loses the immunity to fear and bonuses on saving throws. The song’s benefits otherwise persist only as long as the character remains within Kintargo’s city limits. If a character exits the city, the benefits are suppressed but not lost. The duration still runs out as normal, but if the character returns to Kintargo before the duration ends, the effects manifest again.

Yeah, this was tough and I'm even playing 'by the book', which is usually less than optimal.

Whining is allowed in these circumstances. :)

I had the dragon pretty much blast the 'temporary' buildings with her two breath weapon attacks done previously.

And if you see the dragon and cast, the dragon (perception +22, see in darkness, dragon senses, etc.) can probably see you.

The dragon even saw Tillia but judged you the greater threat.

And I did take into account the -4 to its saving throw, which is why I said earlier that you will probably get the dragon but it may cost you an ally or two.

I'm not seeing a good action for CC except Withdraw or a defensive cast to escape. One hit took out his False Life and left him wounded;
a full round is likely to kill him. He's not much good at Concentration, and I shudder at the Acrobatics roll to avoid a Dragon.
Anyone got any better ideas?

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

I'm a bit at a loss myself... Eirik could stay in gaseous form to get some DR, but that doesn't make him immune to damage, and might just make the enemies ignore him, assuming they have enough arcane lore to know he can't do anything as long as he remains gaseous.

Option a) use standard action to dismiss the spell, either move towards or away from the enemies. If Eirik moves towards them and they decide to focus on him, he's dead. If only the demon (who should by now realize he's Eirik's kryptonite) goes for him he'll end up in trouble but could likely survive a round or two... Eirik could likely trade with the devil and use the Breath of Life to avoid death, but the dragon's AC pretty much ensures Eirik can only hit it by accident... thrown 17 required.

Option b) remain gaseous and try to taunt the enemies (tricky, without even being able to speak and considering the rules don't have a taunt mechanism), hope to draw one or both enemies to attack him, as he's still more resistant to damage now than he is in the flesh. But that'd just mean we win one round's worth of time, and the enemies might just ignore him until he dismisses the spell.

Option c) run behind a corner, then dismiss the spell. Then rejoin the battle next round. Gaseous Form spell says Eirik can't run, but doesn't say anything about walking (I read the Fly 10 as a bonus, not the only option - if so, why specify RUNNING was impossible?) and he has plenty of movement rate. That would allow him to make a good attack next round (unless enemies move a lot to the west) but might just result in the devil chasing him and grappling him again, which wouldn't be ideal.

For you, Caleb... if you are really out there in the open, I suggest running for dear life... I doubt you can tank many hits, in case one of both of the enemies to go melee you. Your and Tillia's save-or-die spells are our best and likely only hope for a win here, and you need to be alive to cast them.

Here are my suggestions... you do know I'm on your side, right?

Disclaimer: any good plan is turned up side down with some bad rolls of the dice so keep that in mind.

If the feeblemind goes off then the dragon becomes 'putty' and will not attack unless directly attacked so... fight over.

That feeblemind has a damn good chance of sticking too (once past the dragon's SR). It's a DC 26 the dragon saves at +13-4 (+9) so it needs a 17 or more (I rolled a 20 last time just to counterbalance Milani's blessing. :))

So you all need to keep Caleb alive so he can cast...

However, the dragon is threatening Caleb and it has reach so careful on that withdraw action.

Is there a brave hero willing to take the dragon's AoO?

It's Caleb so of course Noravia would do this. Of course it would mean death for her and no coming back this time since I don't think she had time to heal herself further. She was hoping to draw the dragon's attention by attacking it with her spell. If she needs to, she'll fly closer. Or maybe even fly by?

However, I wpn't be happy about you killing a second character of mine :P

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Didn't realize the Feeblemind had THAT good a chance. Eirik will do it, then, as he still has the BoL. Post incoming...

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Dismiss the gaseous form, then move (60') to the NE side of the dragon, avoiding the devil's threatened area but moving tantalizingly close so it might want to follow... Eirik can use the buildings (or their remains) to get to a point he can't at least be flanked without both the dragon and the devil moving.

Things were turning from bad to worse. Jillian went down trying to prevent Eirik from falling, and now the mystic's spell had failed to end the battle like they had hoped. But Eirik believed Caleb could try again, given a chance. So he'd have to risk his own life to provide just that.

Dismissing his Ki technique and regaining solidity, the monk rushed towards the dragon, voicing a wordless warcry to try to turn his attention to him.

And if Eirik goes down next round, he's going to use that BoL to prevent his death once.

Just as Jillian had accepted that it was over, she felt herself come back into her body, and her wounds start to knit. For a moment everything felt...silver? She opened her eyes, groaning, and the world shone with a silver glow. Then it faded back into the more mundane red of blood and battle.

BoL: 5d8 + 20 - 33 ⇒ (1, 8, 7, 3, 7) + 20 - 33 = 13 Welp, that's not gonna get me very far, but at least I can distract the devil one more round, which will allow Eirik to distract the dragon, which means hopefully we can feeblemind our way out of this...

Staggering to her feet, Jillian shook her head to clear it, and shouted at the demon, "Come on! Is that all you got?"

I assume that's a standard or full round action, and I can't also attack this round?

Stats

assuming that Eirik soaks the AoO...
Caleb leaped backward, a prodigious leap from a standing start. As he landed he slipped, rolled, bumped up against a building, struggled to his feet, slipped again and all but slid off the the edge. Desperately clinging one handed to a smouldering beam he spun and slammed his Captive into the Dragon with everything he had.

Move backwards 50ft to make distance. If he provokes, this'll be the action that does it. Aiming to land on the edge so he can 5ft off.
jump with urban grace: 1d20 + 16 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 16 + 8 = 26
Standard: FEEBELEMIND! I'm not sure it'll make the Dragon putty, but it will give it animal intelligence. At that point if we hide the hope is it'll go for people that look like our disguise.
Also; DC 22, not 26. effective DC is 26 because of the -4.

Spell pen: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Edit: okay, jump roll not so good, but still not bad. Should have been this wire-fu thing. Editing to look less awesome.

Tillia cursed as her magic failed to take hold on the devil. She knew it might well resist her efforts but she had still hoped it would work. She saw Noravia bathed in light then, no longer dead but not in the best of shape, and fly into the air to carry on the fight. She felt hope that they would succeed only to have it dashed when Jillian fell tot he devil after trading off with Eirik.

Tillia felt her hope fade again, this was going very badly and she knew they couldn't take much more. She was worried that hey would have to flee, or at least those who could would have to, but knew that she had one more useful spell left. Focusing her mind Tillia chanted and gestured and in the area around the devil and the dragon a great pall of noxious smelling smoke appeared before she pulled back to the pier to get out of sight of the dragon.

I cast stinking cloud, fort 19 negates the nausea, no SR.

This time, it wasn't quick. Jillian lay unconscious in a pool of her own blood, her life force slowly fading away. She was out of this fight for good.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

We had discussed having NPCs around but never fleshed that out. Can we have someone get Rizolla to the bridge? She may be the best one to get the dragon to not see as a threat and there may be some bond there that will keep it from being overly aggressive.

Also, where is the Asmodean temple in relation to where we are? I think the plan was to get it to follow Noravia there. Just trying to figure out the best option.

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

If we all just scoot the dragon might well go away... I guess it'd remember where home is, and if it vanishes into the mountains somewhere there'd be no-one around to heal the feeblemindness. If we do manage to lure it towards the Temple, there just might be someone who can, and it's said in the spell description the subject does still recognize friends. So it would likely slay any unknown Thrunites, but if it came face to face with some names NPC it knew...

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Besides... how can we expect to survive leading the dragon all that way? A couple of breaths and any one of us is finished, and the opportunities for collateral damage are considerable as each blast consumes a couple of city blocks in unholy fire.

The map is on the campaign tab. The bridge is Y6 and the temple is T3.

You can have Rizolla standing by but remember that she did not part amiably last time.

Likely won't get a post up until after work tonight.

For what it's worth, my vote is to scatter. If it's not being threatened, hopefully it'll take off. Or can somebody throw an image or something off in the distance, lure it away?

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Noravia started to fly towards the dragon as she saw it attack Caleb yet again. She was still reeling from Jillian going down a second time. As she got nearer, she recognized the same demeanor in the dragon that Caleb had exhibited when he was under the affect of the feeblemind spell.

She made sure she gave the dragon a wide berth so that she wouldn't seem threatening. Using her bonded mind she spoke to the others. We need to get out of here and hopefully the dragon will find its way back to its lair by instinct. Caleb, you need to transport yourself away. Someone will need to get Jillian. Eirik, if you can grab her, I will get the devil's attention off of you.

Speaking divine words, a ray of light streaked from Noravia's palm towards the devil. Maybe if she was lucky, the dragon would think of her as an ally and attack the devil.

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Let's see... first Acrobatics to avoid the devil's AoOs as Eirik moves around and goes to pick up Jillian.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36

Then picking up Jillian... "move heavy object" combat action would be the closest, I think... a move action that provokes AoOs, but that Acrobatics check should be plenty good, and Eirik already provokes by moving around the devil. Jillian's weight (even if dragged and not actually carried) will almost certainly push Eirik past medium load which means he'll lose his bonus movement speed... but does he use that extra move speed first or last? Anwyay, he'll head south and east, but I doubt he'll get very far. A couple of squares from the SE-most hut's corner, I believe?

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

'I'll do my best,' Eirik thought back, not quite sure in the chaos of battle if Noravia would hear his own thoughts but knowing answering out aloud would be less than wise. Besides, the idea of a retreat sounded most welcome just about now - the mystic had apparently succeeded in befuddling the dragon’s mind, and if they just left it alone there was a good enough chance it would fly back to its lair to lick its wounds and likely remain there for who knew how long. Decades, possible, if they were lucky.

And he, too, was on his last legs. The myriad of little wounds from the devil’s barbs and the dragon’s claws were piling up fast – he didn’t think he could last more than a couple of more attacks.

Dodging under the devil’s attack, Eirik rushed towards the fallen slayer, picked her up and began running to away from the wyrm, hoping it would lose interest in a fleeing foe and that Noravia’s spell would keep the devil entertained – the brilliant flash of light from behind his back and the pained screech of the infernal foe gave him some hope.

Murmuring prayers under his breath, Eirik struggled to get the two of them away from the fight before Jillian bled to death.

Tillia realized that things were suddenly very unpleasant for her. The cloud of fog blocked her view of the devil and she was all alone with the dragon and only Caleb to help her. This wasn't good and she knew it. It was then that Caleb's spell went off on the dragon and she saw it had some kind of effect as the creature just stood there dumbly.

Mark of Blood - just direction and rough distance.
Feeblemind says creatures still know their friends, which makes me think it is emotion based. I'm hopeful that Rovozair and Brassy are temporary allies of convenience, distrustful and ready for betrayal, rather than friends as such.

Caleb struggled for breath. 'The others should be able to take the devil - I need to lead the dragon away. Wish Eric'd been able to do this, but needs must.' He looked at the sun and cursed internally 'AND I've ended up on the wrong side of the bridge.'

The thin sorceror breathed deeply, spat at the dragon, shouted "THRUNE!" - the battlecry of the Thrune forces - and stepped off the edge of the bridge. A second later six feet of stone was between him and the dragon, and he concentrated briefly on the spell he'd been preparing. He vanished into darkness just as Rivozair's eyes appeared over the edge of the bridge.

One second and eight hundred feet away, standing on the tallest building on the north coast of the south island he cupped hands to his mouth and yelled again "THRUNE!"

Well... one move action to move, another to pick up Jillian, and her weight kills Eirik's massive movement range, so that was pretty much expected.

Anyway, looking promising... if the devil dies the dragon might just forgot what's it doing here and go back home. No way Eirik can attack the barbed horror, so let's just take a withdrawal action (double 30' move) to run east and south, then leap over the railing and into the river. Will hope the others can blast the devil so Eirik can spend the next round wondering how to deal with Jillian... by himself he could just sink to the bottom, but she needs to breath... perhaps a coupel rounds could be won by Eirik drawing his lungs full and performing a lip-lock to breath the air he doesn't need into Jillian's lungs. But that's definitely just a time-buying method so I guess surfacing under the bridge is what needs to happen... and again, in the devil is alive to pursue...

Eirik struggled to run away from the devil with Jillian's bleeding body thrown over one shoulder, dodging this way and that to escape the claws seeking his exposed back. Knowing he had to clear the dragon's line of sight so its befuddled mind would write him out of existence he headed for the railing and leaped over, drawing his lungs full of air before he and his prescious cargo hit the water - he could use his Ki to sustain himself underwater for hours, but just in case they needed to hide from a hungry flying predator, Jillian would need all the help he could provide her.

IF we make it into next round alive, Eirik can use his CLW pot to at least stabilize Jillian.

I read fleeblemind as lowering your intelligence to 'animal' and the description specifically states that the affected 'creature' still recognizes its 'friends' (and I infer that it thus recognizes its 'enemies'). We RPed this aspect when Tillia was affected a while back.

The dragon knows that it is in the middle of a fight and you're either an ally or an enemy. Tillia is not recognized as an ally and is thus an enemy.

You guys keep attacking the dragon or the devil (its ally) and thus the dragon reacts to this.

Remember that the 'map' is not quite as things stand right now. The dragon has used its weapon three times so all those 'temporary' homes are really not there.

Jillian was a limp form in Eirik's grasp, sinking beneath the waves without resistance.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Eirik, you may want to give Jillian a cure potion...

Noravia was pretty sure everyone was clear of the dragon and devil until she saw the dragon go after Tillia. The inquisitor had thought that the sorceress had removed herself but apparently not. She could also see Rizolla appear out of nowhere but since she was flying, she hoped she'd leave and leave quickly.

Once again Noravia used her bonded mind and thought at Tillia, Get out of there. Everyone else is clear. I can't leave until you do.

I'm assuming that Noravia can't get a shot at the devil anymore due to the pit? She's definitely not going to attack the dragon unless she has no choice.

Indeed... assuming Eirik managed to use the Fly spell to prevent them from going too deep when they jumped, he'll use his actions to take out his sole healing pot and feed it to Jillian. Of course, if we did sink like stones he'll have to use a move to resurface (as feeding a potion to an unconscious person underwater without drowning them would be a little bit difficult. But let's hope for the best.

Eirik had almost forgot the potion of flight he had drunk earlier. But he did remember it just in time - instead of trying to swim to the surface he used the power of the potion to resurface after their dive, holding Jillian's head up with one arm while digging through his pockets with his other one, used his teeth to pull the cork and then poured the content in the unconscious woman's mouth, trickle by trickle - the last thing he needed now was to unintentionally choke her to death.

Damn. Caleb's not going to be able to lure off the dragon while the others are over there, right? He's supposed to have a protection from energy potion and a healing potion, right?
I guess he might as well recover and keep yelling, hope he can Rivozair's attention when the others hide.

Jillian sputtered and choked, then recognized the taste of the liquid she was drinking, and swallowed it back. She we freezing cold, and seemed to be floating, supported by strong arms. She blinked one eye open, and saw Eirik's concerned face.

Groaning, she didn't even try to move. "Gods. I feel like I've died. Twice. Did we win?"

Caleb realised - much to his disgust - that Rivozair was now actually too stupid. With all the intelligence of a guppy once he was out of sight she simply forgot about him. Gritting his teeth he teleported once more - this time to the near end of the bridge.
200 ft away, closer to the temple. Plan is to Magic Missile her next round and run.

Tillia was shocked that the dragon retained enough intelligence to understand that she had a cast a spell that created the pit beneath the devil and so was caught completely off guard when it breathed hellfire on her. She screamed out in pain and agony as the flames seared her body and knew she needed to get out of there now. Unfortunately she also knew that she had to try and disappear first so the thing wouldn't attack her when she fled. She pushed her mind through the agonizing pain and and chanted as she gestured then disappeared without a trace before moving away from the dragon.
Cast Vanish defensively, dc 17 and my bonus is 18 so auto succeed, and then move 30 feet as far from the dragon as possible.

Rizolla thought it was strange that Tillia would create a pit, the devil would fall into it, and then it would cover with cobblestones but she couldn't quite figure out what had happened. Not willing to let her prey go that easily she dropped down to where the stones were and carefully put her foot on them...

Assuming this is the illusion I bet it is:
When her foot touched the cobblestones Rizolla was shocked when she went right through it and lowered herself down into the top of the pit. She looked down for the devil and again demanded, "Give her soul back now!"
Presuming I see the devil in there:
Gesturing and chanting once more Rizolla sent another beam of horrid energy into the foul creature.

Enervation w/height/pbs: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 111d4 ⇒ 2 negative levels.
Naturally...

If it somehow isn't an illusion:
Realizing that something strange had happened, and planning to confront the mage about it later, Rizolla turned to where the dragon was attacking Tillia and yelled out, "Mother! Stop that at once! You need to calm down and quit being such a b!@%%!"

"We haven't lost yet," Eirik murmured into Jillian's ear. "Caleb got the dragon like we hoped he might, but it's still giving chase to someone up on the bridge. And I think something happened to the devil - it didn't try to follow us here to finish us at any rate."

Read the OOC.

Questions, comments, and/or suggestions?

rolls:

unholy blight: 5d8 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 4, 8) = 20
Rizolla will save DC 18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18, pass

dragon bite Tillia: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (20) + 23 = 43, hit?
damage: 2d8 + 13 ⇒ (8, 6) + 13 = 27
hit if >50: 1d100 ⇒ 41, miss (lucky)

Not that I'm complaining, but shouldn't Jillian still be at critical wounds? She only had a heal light potion - by my calculation she only has 2 HP left.

Tillia, jump in the water! Get out of there!

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Not sure what to do here... he doesn't want to go up since we want the dragon to loose sight of us, not get more enemies to fry, and he's way too hurt to have a decent chance of dealing meaningful damage to the beastie. So might just as well use flying to move under the bridge, put a support pillar between him and where he last saw the dragon (and where he now thinks he hears the dragon being) and hide.
