"Granita, do you have any advice about how to scare or fight these fanatics? Any predication about if they will break down the door or enter through a window? Should we turn out the lights since your allies have Darkvision?"
Shayne repeats his cantrip casting, making small gestures while singing quietly and repeatedly, Bim, bom, bim bim bim bom. With the first casting Aak's teeth turn golden. With each subsequent casting a few small, brittle, not-quite-right human teeth appear on the floor by the door.
The gnome continues talking. "My proposal, for what its worth, is to stage a confrontation between Intimidating Half-Orc And His Vorpal Sword with his long-time nemeses Spooky The Gnome and The Evil Tooth Fairy. We came for your teeth. You cut off her head. Ready for some improvisational theatre?

Granita |

"They fear something much worse than any of us here can threaten. If they suspect an ambush they will burn this place to the ground."
Granita quickly pulls a locked box from under the bar. She unlocks the box.
"Fight or hide."
She pulls several ornate looking cylinders from the box, locks them together before attaching a handle of sorts to one end. Make a Intellect check or Knowledge (Engineering)
"Those are the options as I see them."

Shayne Anigon |

Fight or hide? Varisians always look for a third (and fourth) alternative.
Does Shayne estimate that any of the windows in this room have glass panes of one pound or less? (Probably not if the windows are one large pane, but quite possible if the windows are the less expensive and more common grid of panes and muntins.)
Does Shayne think he has time to leave the inn through an upstairs window before the "fanatics" arrive?

Intelligence check: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Hey Shayne, can you give me a mohawk. I always wanted one. Aak asks in a comical tone. He figures if things go bad, no sense in being all stuck up and serious.
Turning to Granita, I have made the choice to fight, and that I shall. You have given me hospitality and for that I will repay you.

Shayne Anigon |

Since Granita doubted that creating more spookiness would help, Shayne shrugs and with his next casting of Prestidigitation creates a brightly colored stripe through Aak's hair.
Only color for now. Perhaps the rest tomorrow, but I confess my skill as a barber is untested and I carry no barber's razor.

Granita |

Aak has never seen such a strange looking wand. I'm working on a map option along with a way to share it with you all. The windows are heavier than a pound. There are second story windows accessible from either Aak's or Silx's rooms.
Turning to Nimt, "A barricade is a good idea. Just make sure it's only waist high."
Granita pulls several small metallic balls from the box, puts one into the rear of the assembled device, and the rest into her apron pocket.

Granita |

At this point the group is close enough to see clearly. Exactly six individuals in cloaks are approaching the Inn. Five hold lanterns and a sixth sits atop a black steed. The one atop the steed points toward the Inn doors. The other five sit their lanterns down and approach the door.
Granita gives Silx a look, full of barely contained anger, "There isn't time to explain. They will kill you all. They are after me because I wouldn't hate like they do."
Without another word or glance toward Silx, Granita levels the device she had assembled, looks down its length, and with a twitch of her finger... CRACK. A spark and a puff of smoke spew from the front of the device as the window of one of the Inn doors shatters. One of the approaching figures yells, pauses, but continues forward toward the door.

Granita |

Calmly Granita pulls a metal ball from her apron and sits it on the bar. She grabs a small container from the box and dumps a bit of grayish powder from it into the device. After putting the metal ball into the device, she holds it level - pointed toward the Inn doors.
"I can slow them down, so if you don't plan to fight I'd suggest heading upstairs. Once they have me they will leave." Granita says to the room as a whole, while keeping her eyes forward.
With another twitch of her finger... CRACK. Another spark and puff of smoke spew from the front of the device. The other Inn door's window shatters. Another approaching figures stumbles, pauses long enough to utter a string of threats, and the continues toward the door.

Nelith |

How far are the figures from the windows ?
Nimt will walk to one of the windows, and cast Acid Splash, until there are two or three targets within 5ft of a window, then he will cast Color Spray.
(If you have a better idea when to use Color Spray, let me know)

Lareg |

The closest two figures are ten feet away, with the rest behind them (two five feet behind the front, the fifth ten feet behind the front, and the figure on the horse 15 feet behind the front. Are you casting color spray near the inside doors or outside?
Roll initiative.

Initiative roll 1d20 ⇒ 16
Listening from the kitchen, Shayne is really confused. Granita is acting in a way she believes will cause the attackers to burn down the inn. She claims her opponents have "worse" hate, but she is the one to first use lethal force. She is not a damsel in distress but a keen shot with a strange weapon.
Moreover, this kitchen is suspicious: no back door through which to bring firewood for the stove. Is this place so accustomed to assault that its staff habitually carries firewood through the main room?
(Truly OOC: I am awaiting a bit more information from our GM about the kitchen. Shayne may be using his movement this round to return to the main room, or he may investigate the kitchen's cellar.)

I'd like to point out that she's not using lethal force per sé. It seems that she picks different targets every times she fires.
Can the bard do a performance to buff us or not ? if yes, please get back in the main room.
Initiative:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
I keep posting with the wrong alias. Will try to do better from now on.

Nelith |

I assume that, with one move, I can get into Acid Splash range (25ft).
ranged touch attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 1d3 ⇒ 1
Nelith strides forward and lets loose a blast of acid. It's difficult to see the target in the dark, however, and the projectile misses.
I assumed that the target wouldn't be in darkness, but already somewhat illuminated by the light shining out of the inn's windows, thus being in dim light. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Shayne Anigon |

Hearing a Bard use Inspire Courage is sufficient. Allies receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects, and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.
Noticing the sound of allied spellcasting prompts Shayne to contribute. From the kitchen you hear him begin singing:
"The inn is a dangerous place, and I don't mean avoid the ale.
Six people come to do us harm but they will not prevail.
At Granita's Bed & Breakfast & Battle the digestif is a fight.
Happily, the cards are clear: we will win tonight!
We have better tools and spells for fighting them at range.
If they close we have a Half-Orc and a Gnome who's strange.
Up on the tables, guard the doors, shout as you attack!
Yell even louder when our Drow stabs them in the back!
"The inn is a dangerous place, and I do not mean the stew.
I had not finished my dessert. An interruption will not do!
How is the tavern lit? Are the attackers human? I'm still wondering if we should extinguish the lights mid-combat since at least three of us have Darkvision.

Initiative {dice]d20[/dice]
The Dwarf seemed to have dozed off, but all this ruckus made him snap to attention. "What's this ? Bandits".
Thangardt will move up in front of the barricade, careful to not block Granita's aim. He will then draw out his weapon.

Granita |

Quickly Granita dumps a bit of grayish powder into her device. She grabs another metal ball from her apron and puts the metal ball into the device, she holds it level - pointed toward the Inn doors. With another twitch of her finger... CRACK. Another spark and puff of smoke spew from the front of the device. One of the front figures collapses to the ground - unmoving; the others continue forward - hacking crudely at the doors.
"Those doors won't hold long."

Shayne Anigon |

Shayne will return to the main room and climb onto a table for the higher ground advantage. He is still carrying his whip and head.
It sounds like the door hacking is taking a few rounds. If Granita is continuing to fire her weapon then Shayne will continue to use Inspire Courage. If not, he will stop to conserve that ability until we enter melee combat. Please let me know how many of my Bardic Performance rounds have been used by the time melee begins.

Shayne Anigon |

Shayne sings:
"I really don't like attacking folk
When I don't know who they are.
Especially in a strange, new place
Because I've traveled far.
"I'm a singer, not a fighter,
But one thought makes my heart lighter:
The stew was warm, the lodging free,
And better to get these guys than let them get me!"
He is just singing if no ally is making a weapon damage roll, to conserve rounds of Inspire Courage.

Granita |

Granita drops another metal ball into the device, levels it toward the Inn doors, and with another twitch of her finger... CRACK. As the puff of smoke clears from the front of the device, a satisfied grin covers Granita's face. Another figure has collapsed to the ground - unmoving. One of the rear figures moves forward and takes over hacking at the doors.
"You'd better call for help Tolin," Granita yells with satisfaction.

Nelith |

Does this mean that the enemies hacking at the in door are in sight ?
Nelith winces at Granita's taunt. "Please don't say that"
