Nope, can't dump con, it's not a stat for me. Basically I get a '10' that's not really there. Can't put points in or take points out.
I guess that's what I mean, no need to invest in a stat others usually are required to.
Since it's late, I'll post what I wrote for Bishop and get Opals up tomorrow. Maybe.
Things between Morganna and her sister have cooled off significantly, only the occasional death threat at the dinner table nowadays. It’s hard at times, but Bishop hasn’t given up trying to get the two to reconcile, although he ran into a wall trying to make headway at the estate. As fate would have it, Lorne had a mid-term assignment available to whichever servant of the Ainsworth house was up to the challenge. Someone was to leave for an extended period of time, and search for “Supernatural Artifacts of Interest.” Bishop was the first in line, and soon he was off. He had his relatively substantial teachings in both self-defense, and the arcane arts to rely on. But most importantly to him he had his Railgun* Fenrir. He chose the name as a mere 10 year old when he was first given the weapon, and the name stuck. Even if he felt it was too childish nowadays, he can’t bring himself to change it. The gun is too important to him.
Bishop comes across as a severe, though courteous, man. He was taught for as long as he can remember having a home to only speak when spoken to. As well, this same teaching gave him the skills to keep a home tidy. In general, he’ll try to do right by others, but his upbringing has left him with a skewed perception of the bigger picture, and a laser-like ability to focus on a single task.

“if it ain’t broke, we’ll break it.”
“I wanted to see if I could supercharge Calm Emotions, you know the spell? The one that makes people all Zen n’s+~!? Enough to work on some permanent brain drainin’ crazin’ psychosis. It don’ work all on it’s own though, that’s why you gotta check yourself so much. Ya see, one thing I hate? Seein’ someone with all the potential in the world, losin’ control of their lives. Breaks my heart. Ya gotta follow your own dreams girl, so lemme ask you. What do you wanna do with yourself? She had gotten to a point where she didn’t need to think on an answer in her life. “I wish to have control over my own path in life. You have given me tools. I must use them.” Bridge seemed pleased at this answer, giving a wide and low grin Opal had come to identify as a smile meaning “that’s what I was hoping for” and slowly nodded as he turned around.
Bridge snapped his fingers, and everything around Opal had vanished. She understands his game now. She’ll reach him again, when she has control of her destiny enough to find him herself.
For now? She needs to keep herself trained and under control. This crew is certainly entertaining.
Opal is notably not one to wear her emotions on her sleeves. The spell that she leans on buries them deeply. That is not to say they don’t exist or show from time to time, but from a casual viewpoint, Opal appears emotionless. Of course, you can’t live around Bridge without a sense of humor. As well, she is no unfeeling juggernaut physically, sensations such as taste and touch are vivid, but she does not express much from them.

I honestly don't love the idea of not being able to get myself up in combat or anything, but thematically spell resistance makes sense for a company like Aspis Consortium. Theoretically before he "left" Aspis, he would have been moving in a team built to deal with that issue, but now that he's no longer with them it's both a blessing and a curse since it means it's a pain in the ass when he's downed in combat.

I agree Green, it isn't great for a player. In point of fact I rather loathe SR when I have it unless it's selective like from the holy aura style spells. Dice like to screw me over, having my own SR doubles the opportunities for the dice, they don't need the help.
Here is my background. It will be under my character alias as well.
A large sealed tube slowly began to open up, it’s metal peeling back like the bones of a ribcage to reveal a pale looking humanoid inside of it. At first it seemed to be a simple human, but upon closer inspection certain characteristics were off. His eyes were sunken into his skull to the point he looked like a corpse, his skull was larger then normal to, the veins on his pale skin clearly visible. The messy black hair on his head did little to draw away attention from it. He was only dressed in a pure black robe. Everything about him seemed fresh, as if a second had not passed since he went into the tube. His eyes slowly opened up as he crawled out of the machine to examine his surroundings. Around him the laboratory he once worked for was in ruins. Age had claimed most of the technology around him. He had once been part of a research and development division looking into the possibility of combining necromancy with technology to help with the war effort. Upon learning of the doomsday weapon that was soon to be launched though, the entire division went into stasis in case of failure. Sadly the weapon had more powerful then any of the planets researchers could have imagined. He was able to get a few camera’s working outside only to discover a barren wasteland. Much to his surprise though he soon came into contact with the survivors of the calamity. Survivors may have been a relative term though, the majority of the planet’s inhabitants now undead. He took everything in stride though. He had never been one for family, focusing mostly on his research. The biggest annoyance was being trapped here in the lab, unable to survive on the barren wasteland that used to be his home. The lab kept clean air flowing thanks to the generator but the emergency food supplies were quickly running low. His fellow researchers were still in stasis thanks to a glitch in the program, his loneliness turning into a blessing as food began to run out. Two weeks into his awakening he came into contact with a certain creature as he was scanning through signals. The lich’s name was Loth. He seemed very interested in the chance at getting his hands on living specimens of eoxian’s from the past. Ludvic really had no choice. but to give him the location. He had his own plans ready though. As Loth landed with his ship and entered the long forgotten facility, Ludvic was ready. While the lich entered and began to explore the facility Ludivc snuck out. He had been able to conjure up a bubble of air around his head to survive the environment, but almost died during the small walk to the ship. He was lucky the rich had installed a device to create air for what he assumed would be his human cargo. With a sigh he had to abandon all his research, blasting off in the liches vehicle, leaving the vengeful undead stuck at the facility with his past researchers. He felt a built guilty about leaving his past co-workers behind but had to put his own survival ahead. The rich had brought food to support his new subjects that would last Ludvic until he could find some place to land. It was a big universe. Surly their was some place he could set up shop and restart his studies. Maybe one day he could even return to his old home world. With his studies into necrotech, he would surly find his share of troubles in the galaxy.
Fraejia |
I could certainly see Fraejia being very curious, and concerned, about your work on Necrotech. She won't likely help create it, at least not intentionally, but she'll certainly keep an eye on your progress.

Bishop has a lot of experience dealing with mages who dabble in questionable arts. A lich even. So, if nothing else, he'd be very amiable with your character. He may even subconsciously defer to (character name I don't know) unnecessarily.
Ludvic Hearthrend |
This is Loc by the way. It sounds like things would work out very well between the crew then. Odds are he will also be taking a lot of ranks into heal as well so he should be able to help function as the ship medic at the least. If any one is interested he would not hide his research from anyone who seems interested.

How indepth would modding the ship get? Would we be getting parts or would we be able to craft slot of them? For instance creating guns that shoot concentrated negative energy or being able to craft giant legs onto the ship for easier landings. Right now I am just spitballing a things my character would try.

Maybe, souped up Reach, Maximized Enervation wands for the first? This almost makes me wish I didn't use Devic already.
Both equally? I might have to resort to a coin flip at this point.
Edit: Do you mind if I wait to make an Alias if I get selected? I'd rather try to avoid building up a crazy number of aliases.
Ellion Hesoni |
Evidently, my post from the airport didn't take. I know it's been a while since I've posted due that, but do give Ellion's background a look. Tell me what you think (GM and players both):
Endless space.
Much to the discomfort of the shuttle pilot, Ellion stood in his usual near-naked state staring into the reaches of Golarion. The scientist’s thoughts were not about arriving at his destination, but rather the step closer to his goal the transit achieved him.
“We’re approaching the port, Mr. Hesoni.”
“Doctor”, reminded the reflective elf. Port. A port was a place where ships docked. Nowadays, that meant airtight vessels with rockets or the like, electronics and automated processes aplenty. To Ellion, it also meant something quite different.
On Kyonin, his homeworld, Ellion had been born in the first era. The events of this time were but footnotes in all but the most extensive historical annals now, but to him, they were his youth. He remembered his first canoe, the birch hull and oak oar providing him with plenty safe passages across rivers and lakes. He remembered the port of Greengold, where he sold his daily catch for a profit each evening. He remembered opening his remedy shop, the start of his pursuit of the yet-unnamed field of science. Though millennia old, the memories coursed with lightning speed through his unparalleled mind.
A sharp turn by the pilot was too much for the modest gravity stabilizers on the ship to handle, and the standing man leaned to counter it.
“Is this your first go in this ship, boy?” The tone was likely mistaken as chastisement, though Hisoni meant it out of curiosity.
“I’ve only been at the ship a few days, sir. It’s my first assignment.”
Such a short time, even for him.
As a fisherman in his youth, Ellion noticed patterns with the behaviors of the fish. He studied their movements, noticing how the differing types – later called species – would interact with their environment. His astute observations led him to better predict where the best catches could be had. The profit he accrued led him to be able to purchase books and pay for the mouths and ears of the learned. Having come from commoners, this upshift in social status was quite an achievement. At a time when magic was still young, even among elves, the few nobles that wielded it in the wizarding way saw potential in the young man so interested in learning. They agreed to make an exception and teach a commoner, but Ellion threw a wrench into their plans.
The wizards were not used to failure in such affairs. They divined the magical potential of a subject before committing to him or her, and instruction was given with the implicit understanding service would be rendered to the monarch upon completion – indentured servitude by etiquette. The positions were honors to hold, and though some candidates developed better than others, all were capable of spellcraft. Except Ellion – at least in the ways the mages saw as capable.
Ellion was exceptionally bright, but he did not care to apply his mind to the particular outcomes the instructors had intoned. Instead, he dreamt about how the substances of the world interacted with the nature of magic. In his downtime, he experimented with various combinations of substances and spellspawn, determining a link between matter and magic. The basics of this were obviously known to his instructors as they knew what components were necessary to cast spells, but apparently they’d never investigated why those particular materials were required. When time came for his seasonal review, Ellion’s teachers were expecting a show of fire and force, not a scroll detailing the use of seasonal pinecones in white necromancy. Choosing to cut their losses, they cut young Ellion from the program. However, they’d already given the boy the catalyst he needed excel.
On the vessel, the pilot shot a glance at the elf. “Aren’t you cold?”
“Surely not. My nipples have not even hardened!” Ellion knew the doublespeak that came with the statement, but he wanted a bit of amusement. The youth swallowed and turned his head back to the dash. He’s blushing. Ellion grinned.
In truth, Ellion should have been cold. Adjusting his metabolism slightly nullified the discomfort though. It turned-out, through study of various substances in what would later be known as the pursuit of alchemy, Ellion’s interests lay even more biologically-centered than most alchemists. He became an expert of anatomy, using his funds from fishing to open a store for potions and poultices which ensued feedback used to improve his skill. Though he did not “cast” magic, he did use the innate magical power within himself to imbue his elixirs with an extra boost of energy. The port came to hail him as a healer and civil hero. The local nobility didn’t care for this dilution of reliance on their wealth and power though, and accused him of “heresy”, gathering forces to execute him.
Though the despots’ plan was harsh, it was predictable, and Ellion had planned an exit strategy. He had a close friend dig a small chamber under his house for Ellion to lay. The entrepreneur had been experimenting with a new form of body alteration, one which would essentially stop all metabolic processes – breathing, consciousness, heartbeat, etc. He would be defenseless during this time, but he would have no maintenance. The military scoured the town for a week, checking in every conceivable location. The town resented this treatment though, and they rose up to overthrow their ruler. In the process, however, Ellion’s friend, Dalenane, was slain.
Unfortunately, Ellion was not skilled with this technique at the time he used it in this incident, and as a result, the only trigger for his revival was a splash of water across his face. Generations later, another family inhabiting the house happened to find his body while replacing the floorboards. As was custom, they attempted to dispose of his body by throwing it into the lake. The floundering mess of a “resurrection” caught the attention of the entire city. While the archers were ready to put down the “undead”, Ellion noticed a business running where his used to be on the waterfront – and people were leaving it with some of the telltale pink potions he’d made in years past.
My work lived on?
There was precisely one way Ellion’s studies could have borne fruit in this manner, and he requested the guards one chance to prove his identity: If the formulae book’s text the shopkeeper had used matched his handwriting, he was to be set free; otherwise, to death. Of course, he was right; Dalenane had preserved the fundamentals of alchemy which Ellion had written centuries prior. He made a deal with the owner to teach him in return for his shop, which the owner accepted; after all, he could well start his own elsewhere.
Hailed as a sort of demigod, Ellion spent years trying to lead a life of his own, but he no longer seemed to fit-in with society. His fame and other-era genesis made him unable to connect on an intimate level easily. As a result, he had few friends and no lasting romantic relationships. The blessing of life he wrought for himself had turned-out to be a curse long in the tooth and slow in the bite. Not wishing to spread that devastating long-term disability, he kept the information for those particular paths of research to himself. In his depression, he eventually sealed himself off from society, telling them he was going into a “deep sleep” once more, and he was only to be awoken in time of great need or peril. The immensely wealthy associate who’d profited a hundred-fold off Ellion’s knowledge agreed to appoint a curator for the soon-to-be hibernating Hisoni, and the two selected an individual to check for vermin or thieves in his shop once in a blue moon. The town’s respect was so great for him, though, thieves were no concern though. Quite the opposite, the town built a temple around the sleeping scientist, and he was not called upon for many years.
Each time he was awoken every generation or so for the same reason: Rulers sought knowledge of some import for a war they were fighting. Ellion felt used as a pawn often, and he was amusingly summoned by one king and then his evidently-victorious opponent months later. His knowledge was not that of battles, but of bottles. Each time, he would provide his counsel, take in the changes of society since his last consciousness, and then return to his slumber. This pattern continued for millennia – until spacefaring began.
He looked down at the young man’s head in the shuttle. To think such possibility is open to anyone now.
Until that point, elves, fey, and various animals had been the primary inhabitants of Kyonin. However, arrival of the drow across the stars had led to his awakening yet again. This was a war of a wholly different scale. It was a war, Ellion quickly surmised, the elves would not win. He suggested an escape, and the aging ruler – an elected one – agreed. The drow burnt the planet to cinders, the new war”ships” capable of horrific destruction.
Marveling at the development of technology, Ellion stayed awake in the convoy of refugees, learning what he could of the advancements in now-commonplace science. The acceleration of learning was breathtaking, but Ellion possessed the acuity needed to wrangle with the plethora of changes. He took the time to do things as people of that day did, spending time in lectures with the professors to be considered a doctor. His field, naturally, was biology. Dr. Hisoni looked back into his old formulae book, preserved via magic as it was considered a holy text. Joining with his colleagues, Ellion helped to expand the knowledge base as best he could.
Unfortunately, the people in exodus were beset by the orcs of Belkzen, a vicious warlike people. Primitive in quality of their spacecraft, their superior numbers and variety of armaments quickly rendered their escaping craft depleted in number. The half-dozen remaining vessels were forced to scatter among the stars. As the trip would be long, Ellion asked to be awoken only during dire circumstances as before; in this way, if they were adrift for lengthy periods of time, at least their people and their legacy would live on with him.
With the advent of robots, the elves had assigned one to be his curator, and it was by it the doctor was awoken centuries later. Evidently, a gas leak that proved toxic had occurred aboard the dilapidated ship, killing the crew. The robot’s programming had a sentient override performance to make an exception, as reviving Ellion would have been a fatal mistake; he did not breathe while hibernating, making him immune to the effects of the gas. A human crew had found the ship, and once they’d repaired the leak, the robot had awoken him. The crew were stunned, for they had expected him a corpse; the scene reminded Ellion much of the one at the lake in his earlier days.
One of those crew members was now shuttling the elf to and from different pieces of the nearby civilization; evidently, having such an “educated primitive” around was a great novelty for the humans, and some were genuinely interested in the historical insights Ellion had. However, the depression weighed heavily upon his soul as it had in ages past. He was even more different than his own kind now, evolution having had time to work its course, and given how few they were in number, seeing one at all was a rare occasion. Yet the humans with such short lifespans went about them without a second thought.
Eating in a shop where “old-fashioned” baking was advertised, Ellion watched the “archaic” process being performed. Mixing of flour, sugar, butter … this seemed to be some kind of comedic act for the rest of the patrons, but he remembered when the process was used to make sweets for regular consumption. The baker also seemed to think of it as an act, but she got into the art of the performance – and the baking. Ellion needed a way to earn currency, so he agreed to accompany her in the “skits”. Having more experience than she probably did, the experience was authentic, and the racial diversity with the outsider drew bigger crowds.
He felt he had purpose again, connected to something from his original “life”. Helpful as the day-to-day work was for facilitating daily going-ons, it did not dispel his one-of-a-kind loneliness. The length of time that spanned between now and his original time on Kyronin was staggering, but Ellion felt the need to have some longer-term goal to keep away the loneliness. Maybe it wouldn’t be completed for centuries, but he would have a goal, a life’s work.
After seeing one refugee of his people pass through the human station one day, he talked with her about how broken their civilization had become. To her though, the nomadic life was all she had known; the elves had colonies, but most traveled. Only a rare few still possessed the wizard traditions that had been so proud among them. A seething hatred boiled among them for the orcs and drow, but they were powerless to do anything about it.
Maybe you are, but I can see that retribution to its finish.
Against the orcs, Ellion knew the aggression was unjustified, but with the drow … their similar biology was no coincidence. There was definitely some mysteries to uncover about why the races hated each other; it wasn’t that one conflict. Refocusing his studies on enhancing his memory and studying the roots of evolution, the sagacious baker kept himself busy.
As the man adjusted the controls, Ellion noticed a ring on his finger.
“You are married?”
“Engaged! My fiancé and I are getting married in a month. It’s going to be a great time – all of my friends, family, and my favorite musicians will be there. We’re heading to a little resort moon, and –“ the youth noticed he’d said something to upset the elf.
Not upset. Sadden. The pilot’s experience was one the alchemist would never have. For as much education as he’d obtained, he did not have a stoic face to hold back his tears.
“Sorry, sir. We’re docking in a moment.”
If only apologies erased ages of despair…

well, I'd critique 2 things, myself. 1. You want to put a backstory of this length into spoiler tags. I had to make myself a sandwich halfway through reading. And 2. He doesn't sound level 2. Ellion sounds like a powerful NPC the level 2 party would consult.
Other than that, it does a good job describing Ellion as a person, and I got a pretty good idea of how he'd behave around people.

I appreciate the feedback!
Sorry about the lack of spoiler tags - I usually put them in, but I hadn't done the tagging when I wrote the background in Word; usually, I do my composition in the forum with the tags. The one hour edit timer isn't kind in that regard :(
With regards to level 2 though, I think it is appropriate. Ellion is skill/extract based, and if you think about how "advanced" people were back in antiquity, relatively common people (eg. level 2 adventurers) could be seen as paragons in their particular field from that time. For example, a high school student who's awake in science class today knows more about physics, chemistry, and biology than all but the brightest minds did 300 years ago. Ellion has not been awake for all those thousands of years, but rather has had small windows into various ages. He is a quick learner, but he hasn't had the time to put much of his learning into practice. This is why even though he was a master of his field in ancient times, he is but level 2 today.

I've definitively settled on Opal as my application. She seems to have the larger list of interesting interactions with other PC's. As far as combat goes, I'm going to try out Empty Quiver Style for some good old fashioned Gun-Fu. Would I still get any enhancement bonuses the weapon has on it if I use them in melee? Would the Gun Training class feature still give me Dex-to-Damage with them?
Talia Findarii |
okay, so I am debating between two different oracle curses:
You have a visible scar on your forehead or arm that depicts a mystical symbol of some significance. You had no choice in the matter; the brand appeared with fire and searing pain.
Your brand cannot be disguised or altered, even with magic, although you can still benefit from cover or concealment, and you can cover it by wearing a hood or robe (as appropriate). Some NPCs may recognize the brand and become hostile, per the GM's choice. As a supernatural ability, you can touch an enemy for 1d6 +(1/2 your curse level) fire damage; any opponent who takes damage bears your symbol until an equal amount of damage is healed. Any branded opponent takes -2 to save versus your spells and spell-like abilities. You can perform this branding touch a number of times per day equal to 1 +your Charisma bonus (minimum 1).
At 5th level, you may add your Charisma bonus to your Fortitude saving throw bonus.
At 10th level, you gain fire resistance 5.
At 15th level, your fire resistance increases 10. The penalty branded opponents take increases to -4, and you may roll twice to overcome the SR of branded opponents.
You are bound to offer tender aid to those who are most wounded.
If a non-enemy character who is adjacent asks you to heal them, or asks you for help and you can tell they have taken damage or drain or suffer from a disease or poison, you must help them on your next tum. If they have a condition or suffer from a poison or disease that you can neutralize or cure with any ability you possess or any spell you can cast, you must do so as your next action. Otherwise, if they have taken any damage, you must cast a spell or use an ability that heals hit points. Also, you cannot perform a coup de grace. You gain the ability to lay on hands, as the paladin ability, using your curse level as your paladin level.
At 5th level, you gain a mercy, as the paladin ability.
At 10th level, you gain a second mercy, and can exchange your first mercy for a different one.
At 15th level, you gain a third mercy, and can exchange one of your existing mercies for a different one.
Both fit with the Sarenrae religious awakening - Merciful the redemption/protector side, reinforcing the Life Mystery, and Branded as the fire connection, giving a little extra bite. Thoughts?

Positive on both. Everything that works with your gun will work with bashing people with it; you can use Deadly Aim on a melee attack with Empty Quiver Flexibility.

Sweet, this is gonna be cool. I'll probably dip Gunslinger soon then.
Edit: Looks like I'll need to wait until level 5 for Empty Quiver Flexibility. And that's while ignoring Weapon Finesse, and Precise Shot.
Edit x2: Why in gods good name is Stabbing Shot required?

Had those same ideas myself. The modding is going to play out sort of in the same vein that finding magic items will, with checks like Proffession(Mechanic) and the like working to install it. Failure shall be... interesting, to say the least.

I can already imagine Devic in this ship XD
I don't mind at all. I understand not wanting to clutter your profile.
Glad to hear you've picked one.
Gun-Fu, sweet, just watched the Matrix Trilogy over again :)

Man, I wish everbody character-builded like you do. I don't mind a post that long, but yeah, it should probably be behind a spoiler.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but 700+ years is a bit past middle-aged, even for an elf, right?

I think you've switched up the two, but I get the idea.
I like them both, but I can probably have more fun teasing you with the Merciful curse, so make of that what you will.

@Jaster
Hahahahaha, did not even realize that, whoops! I put Merciful in my profile on the same assumption, it would just be so amusing, and taking the Overprotective flaw builds on it.
As for Ellion, it said 767 seasons, if that refers to seasons as in spring/summer/fall/winter, then dividing by 4 would give 191 years, or shortly into middle age.

Your wait is over! :) Please understand he isn't actually nudist - rather wearing smallclothes instead as one might see Native Americans or the like doing. When he was young, this was the custom, and though he has aged, he's not seen the need to adjust - especially when he can regulate his body temperature. However, this may lead to some entertaining social interactions depending on people's impression of his dress (or lack thereof).
I do apologize about the spoiler, but the edit window is only an hour, and it had already elapsed by the time I returned to see the oversight.
700+ years would be past middle-aged, but the breath mastery feature of the internal alchemist specifies a state of "suspended animation" when used. According to the same wording elsewhere in pathfinder, this means time ceases to flow for that person. Essentially, he is in an out-of-time coma during these intervals, which were thousands of years. Ellion has only been active for a bit past a century.

hey all sorry hand is messed up today so typing is hard. I will drop quick reactions no problem. @fraejia sounds cool if you want to be the girl that helped him escape. you were also his reward for wining in the pits as long as you are alright with that. not that we have to continue that it was more of something he used to get close to you and gain your trust and vice versa as you would have trusted him as you escaped with him.

I can live with all that, she could have gotten herself captured at some point and forced into such, and she'd jump at the chance to get out of there. As to whether it continued she would be interested enough to still spend time together in that way, though it's likely she does so with others as well.
Feel free to make the tweaks on your end and I'll work them in on mine.
*EDIT
Or maybe I'll do mine first since your hand's messed up.

OK, here's some ideas about Spaceship Skills:
#1: Vehicles will probably play a major role and there should be a Driving skill that replaces ride.
#2: Operating the Starship
* The main idea here is to give characters with differing attributes roles to play, in a similar way that the Kingdom Building rules grant different Roles bonuses based on different Ability Scores so that everyone has a role to play. This could just be a skill, or could work off a stat and give a bonus for a skill as in the Kingdom Building rules.
Repair (STR or CON): Since making hasty repairs during a battle may require a character to life a heavy bulkhead or move heavy equipment around quickly, this is a STR skill. Anyone that gets Survival as a class skill also gets this in class.
Marine (STR or DEX): Ships also carry soldiers on board to protect against boarding and to board other ships or make up landing parties. Combat that ensues would use the normal combat rules, but a successful marine check might allow a marine to know the best place to ambush an enemy boarding party or to be prepared for an encounter. This check is also used to maneuver in zero-g. Anyone who gets Acrobatics or as a class skill also gets this in class.
Piloting (DEX): Fast Reflexes are the most important thing when making ship maneuvers. Piloting affects how hard it is to hit the ship. Anyone that gets Ride (Or Driving, see above) as a class skill also gets this in class.
Gunnery (DEX or WIS): Working the ship's weapons requires good reflexes and the ability to guess where the enemy will go. Anyone that gets Ride as a class skill also gets this in class.
Navigation (INT): Even assisted by a computer, calculating hyperspace courses can be difficult and requires the ability to make precise calculations. If you get knowledge (geography or astrography) as a class skill then this is also a class skill for you.
Sensors (WIS): Detecting enemy spaceships and space hazards requires experience and sensitivity. You need to know when the burst of static you just saw represents a technical glitch, and when it represents a cloaked ship or a strange new phenomena. If you get Sense Motive as a class skill you also get this skill in class.
Engineer (INT or WIS): Fine tuning the engines and figuring out methods of optimizing performance requires keen insight. If you have Knowledge (Engineering) as a class skill this is also a class skill for you.
Executive Officer (CHA): The Executive Officer has to ensure that the captain's orders are followed. Anyone that gets Intimidate as a class skill also gets this in class.
Broker (CHA): Ships that carry cargo can make more money if they have a broker on board to negotiate deals. Anyone that gets Appraise as a class skill also gets Broker.

These can work in a system devoted to such skills, but I see a lot of overlap with skills that exist already. Marine=Acrobatics with minor new function, Navigation=Survival, Broker=Appraise (maybe diplomacy), Executive officer sounds more like a role than a skill, etc... It seems unnecessary to include most of these. Piloting, Gunnery and Repair seem like keepers, but again, Piloting=Profession (pilot) but with an option to go dex based.

@Fraejia it is Stishas not Seth :)
Stishas knew some things were needed for his escape. The wins piled up, but nothing would be gained for him. He was a tool and his current job was to make money for his master. He did get certain perks though, women were at the top of these. It was here his plan started. He convinced a young girl name Fraejia to place a wager on him. He gave her what he managed to pocket away from around the complex, and had her use some of her own coin. After a few weeks he had the gold needed to bribe a smuggler. He had grown to care for the girl and she too was being held here as a slave. He waited. It was the night after a win in the arena when the escape was made. Fraejia was brought to him again. This time she brought the coin they had won. The guard carried a well made energy blade that Stishas had been eyeing for months now. When the door opened he pulled the guard into the room and slammed him against the wall leaving him unconscious. He kissed Fraejia, she grabbed the keys while he grabbed the sword and stood lookout. Sneaking through the complex was easy enough. He had been here awhile now, and Fraejia was a house servant able to move about freely. Soon they made there way to vehicle storage were they stole the masters speeder and headed to the ports. They had coin but what he was asking was more than any smuggler wanted to deal with. He simply suggested the coin he had would be more than enough, and a particular week willed smuggler agreed.
He now finds himself again on an unknown planet. He and Fraejia got off the ship at the first stop the smuggler made. No doubt they now had to watch their back as a bounty was sure to be put on them. With a small bit of coin they gather some needed supplies and some friends. His skills have grown and an ally has been made. He may never see the mystic academy but that is for the future to decide.
Updated the end of backstory to allow for the relationship with Fraejia.

Talia-
Does sound pretty great for character-development.
Thanks for clearing that up for mme, must have missed it.
Ellion-
Understood. Now, just as a curiosity, how old would he be in Elf-Years?
Peet-
Thanks for the idea, and it is really interesting, but yeah, I wanted a more simplistic. More of what the Smashomancer just described. It's almost improvising what you would do with what skill checks you think would work (of course there is a captain who would give you orders iff one would need them). Thanks anyways.

Sorry for the long wait. Am going to go through the process of listing thse characters, and then choosing a crew from them. Anyone who needs to finish their characters or mmake any edits better do so now.
Funny timing, I was just logging on to do that very thing! I don't have much left to do for Darintar, but I will make a few minor edits.

I'll be making a Mythweavers sheet over the next hour, should be done soon.
HP roll: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Good Luck to everybody!
Edit:
If it helps at all to the role for what Ludvic will try to fill is a debuffer in combat along with support. Out of it he is going for engenner/doctor. He will also be researching ways to combine tech with necromancy and would actively be experimenting through the games course.
Oh, yeah, role: Healing out of combat, Hurting in combat. With Gun kata. For style.
