Back at the barricade Kraygan remains seated on Haggis, but only because he doesn't trust his own two legs. Although he soon recovered from the immediate vomit-aftermath of his binge-drinking rage, Kraygan is still a drunken mess. Blood and beer spatters his armor in equal amounts, and Haggis stands under him looking a little like an unhappy dog in mid-bath. Still, Kraygan seems in good spirits, and is eager for more fighting.

Lets use some charges from those wands!

@GM: I'm not sure how you want to handle drinking rules in this game. Looking at the drugs and addiction rules Gamemastery Guide, I believe Kraygan is a little over his limit. Normally a character can drink 1+2xCon (5 for Kraygan) without becoming penalty (every drink over te limit leaves a character sickened for 1 hour). I think Kraygan is at 6, assuming he had at least 1 drink in the hour before this battle with the orcs. How much time has passed since the funeral? And how much time is this current rest period after the fight with the orcs?

"Thanksh Hoff!"

After a few minutes, a couple passes of the healing wand, and a half-dozen buckets of water from the nearby well dumped over his head, Kraygan looks just about normal again. Grabbing his lance and remounting Haggis, he lets his bucklered hand rest comfortably on the not-quite-empty keg hanging from the horn of his saddle. Though he looks ready, his cousins can tell from the glaze in his eyes that he's riding the edge of sobriety, and while a drunk Kraygan is fun in a barfight, the battle for Trunau has much higher stakes.

"Moun'up sholdiers!" He calls to his companions and begins trotting towards the sound of drums. "Er.. soldiers." He corrects himself. "We got at least one more fire to light, and sounds like some more orcs to kill too!"

The most direct route to the last beacon you have to continue west through these burning trees and smoke. You are roughly at area L on the town map. The last beacon is at Area M on the Town map.

Looking through the burning trees proves near impossible as they cover the area in a thick impenetrable smoke. Thick plumes of pea green smoke billow from the air here, where three hardy trees that flank the road have been set ablaze with green alchemical fire. The air reeks of sulfur and ashes.

Same conditions to enter as the burning house was. Anyone inside the smoke must make a Fort save each round. (DC 15 +1 per previous attempt) or suffer smoke inhalation. (Choking and coughing for the failed round. A character who fails two consecutive rounds takes 1d6 points of nonlethal damage.) Anyone also in the smoke has concealment (20% miss chance). You can hold breath for 2 rounds per point of CON. Each standard or full action reduces the amount by one round to which you need to start breathing again.

Dogs bark in the distance as you hear the sound of a man being attacked and possibly killed from within. The group knows that they must cross through this green sulfurous smoke to reach their destination.

"Torag's steel codpiece, Torgan! Yer in the way of me lance! Bah! Hold yer breath Haggis, we're goin in!" Kraygan gives Haggis his knees and, holding his own breath, enters the smoke and forms up next to his cousin.

Combat Over. Boom Level 3! Time to upgrade!

Once on the other side of the burning trees the group sees a sight that shocks them to their core. The portcullis at the gate is closed but their is a small horde at the portcullis on the verge of breaking it down with a ram and about to pour through the gate in a merciless wave.

On the groups side of the gate seems to be two sets of barricades prepared and a familiar face, Patrol Sergeant Omaust Frum. It seems he alone has decided to stand against the orc waves. Unfortunately he still seems to be drunk.

Omaust leans against the barrier with a greatsword as he drinks from a flask. Let looshe the fury of the flaming logsh! He shouts as he stumbles, nearly impaling himself on the barricade.

Two barricades have been emplaced on the hill leading towards the western gate. They are approximately 3 feet high and five feet wide. Costs 2 squares of movement to cross and provides cover but only to creatures within 30 feet.. Ignore cover if attacker is closer than the defender.

There is a small cache of weapons sprawled in a heap nearby that consists of a glaive, a guirsame, a halbard, two longspears and a ranseur. A large boulder lies in the middle of the hill between the two barricades. It is nearly 10 feet across. It looks as if it is the same boulder that smashed through the blacksmiths house and ignited the trees.

Two bundles of logs have been lashed to the westernmost barricade, one on each side of the road. Takes two full round actions to release The easternmost barricade is equipped with sharpened and splintered wooden fences. Can ready to impale an attacker.

Thanks Jorgan I do have a table in the Campaign Tab.

@ Wren- There will be a new map. The enemies are all to the west (left side of the map).

@Kraygan- Correct the logs are set up to roll on incoming baddies. They are breaching as we speak.

A blast rocks the portcullis as the orc's use a massive ram to smash into it as the group sets up what little defenses that have at their disposal.

Also one more note with this portion only. While bodies don't normally impede movement. This portion will. A square containing a single fallen orc does not impede movement but is unable to be charged through. 2 fallen orcs in same square costs 2 squares of movement to cross and 3 orcs costs 3 squares movement. so on and so forth.

The portcullis canters a bit off of it's guide enough for the orcs to begins squeezing through. Before they know it six orcs come rushing through the gates, roaring in fury!
