That's true, I completely missed that one! Hrm... think I'm going to change it too that. Could be really powerful if we group huddle for a round when someone desperately needs to make a save.

It's a clever trap. My only one quibble, and it is a minor quibble, is how these people can afford enough glue when it is 2400 gold an ounce. Like in Xilres, where they must have blown their entire gross national product on traps. The economic concerns leave me faintly incredulous. I really hope that if we loot the palace we find that Targ was massively in debt.

Omen does the glue count as an object? Could Gabriel use his Shatter ability to clean it off of me? It might not be RaW but it feels clever.

That would be an interesting twist to the scenario, if Targ was building an army to combat the foreign force coming to seize his defaulted kingdom


@Toramin - I raised my eyebrows at the price as well, but again you guys are awesome at guessing what is behind the scenes. Yes Targ was absolutely horrible at managing money and it's one of the main reasons he had to spend so much effort on the arena; because it made money.

Ah, very clever Toramin. Yes I would rule that each application of the glue would count as a separate object, so shatter would work. I imaging eyes followed by ears would be the priority order and maybe just let Toramin be a mouth breather for a while.

A few more things about taking the Steel Hound archetype; book keeping stuff. Rilka’s no longer proficient in short sword, so I switched her short sword for a rapier. For the pistol, bullets, black powder, and powder horn the total is 1,148 gp. So the total cost of her current gear is 4277.33.

I put the pistol and associated items on the character sheet for reference, but for now I assume they are at their new domicile. Along with Rilka’s sling staff and rapier. She hadn’t quite been expecting to do much combat today.

There's a secret to dungeons and dragons that I learned with my experience... no matter what you're doing, -always- expect combat.

Skipping ahead of a boring day? Expect combat to interrupt that. Going to the restroom? Combat will interrupt that too. Bout to fight in some combat? Combat can also interrupt that combat, getting combat in your combat so you can have more combat with your combat.

If this trap turns out to be overthinking I am not sure if I will be able to hate or praise you Omen. Also, warning to those who click on that link, that is one of about three pages from the comic that doesn't have some form of nudity. The rest does. A lot.

As a side note, Bjorkus, Gabe is trying to go in alone to rest the waters. XD If the cloud doesn't kill him and he doesn't fall into a pit of super duper glue he'll come back. Depending on what sort of Trap this is, Gabe might be able to act as a Fog Light.

One of my favorite trap-related scenes occurred in a 4e campaign I ran back when 4e was relevant.

When triggered, it teleported all of the victim’s clothing and gear away into a chest deeper in the dungeon leaving the victim utterly naked. After the party’s tank triggered it, they quickly deduced that the best course of action was to strip naked, toss all their stuff down the hallway across the trigger, and then re-equip on the other side. One awkward ‘everyone is naked’ scene later, they’d overcome the trap.

Of course simply disarming the trap was the easiest solution but they left nothing to chance!

He wouldn't have said no. If so, he retrieves it for you.


I'm not a nazi with gear. Just make sure you track wealth and don't encumbered yourself (which you never should with how generous my bag of holding gifts are) and I assume a competent 5th level party has basic supplies on them.

Also since you're using your own blades and not being careless I'll assume that catching a disease won't be a problem. Making clean cuts on purpose would have a lot less danger of infection than the average party member's daily intake of blows from weapons.

And I'm waiting on Rilka to do something about the gas trap before moving on since I assume nobody wants to have complete lung failure.

I just want to double check. Rilka should have full health, right? The last time she was in combat was with Fuero when they kidnapped the woman. I don’t think I’ve changed her hp since that fight. Does it make sense that she’d be 36/36?

Not sure if it'll make a difference but Rilka's Disable Device roll was off. She shorted herself +3 from trapfinding.
