In light of how things developed in said other game I will never do it again.
I did like tuning into my nightly soap though.

Toramin Gearsmith |

I regret how things turned out, mostly because I suspect my end drug down Skaar with me. But the only thing that upset me was the very strange and sudden insults that I struggled not to read as attacking me OOG.
That and all those people liking that we got booted. Who favorites that kind of post?

DM Omen |

I remember playing a really rude rogue in one game, playing off her low charisma and higher intelligence and wisdom as her being a condescending dick. I stressed the importance of my player/character separation out of character multiple times in both the gameplay and discussion thread, but in the very first combat we got into the GM had enemies focus me down and then execute my character as soon as she fell down. After that he kicked me out. I have a feeling it was largely due to him knowing two of the other players IRL, one of them playing an evil druid who liked to play the angle "I didn't tell you I have that ability so your character doesn't know that" when somebody asked for healing.

Toramin Gearsmith |

I would have replied, "Dothraki handmaidens on the Great Grass Sea know that druids can heal. It is known."

DM Omen |

Toramin, you should read up on the swallow whole rules. You can't use a weapon that large while swallowed.
Also, Toramin acts in initiative before Bjorkus. So unless his plan is to wait to be rescued, I highly doubt he delays.

Dalton Barrowwheel |

Playing with my local friends today, plus my girlfriend is coming into town, so my posting is most likely going to be non-existent.
Have a good time!

Dalton Barrowwheel |

Is Dalton seeking dire platypi?
Yup. Closer to truth though, he is wondering if this island has potential valuable resources yet to be acquired. Predators may provide an obstacle for less-equipped miners and such.
Let's just be happy Bjorkus is only being half racist.

Dalton Barrowwheel |

Did Dalton want to explore the cavern? Otherwise Bjorkus is going to move us along.
No. It's a thought he's bookmarking for later.

Bjorkus |

Well we're stopping in Pine Lake first and that's only a few days away.
Sailor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Sailor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Sailor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Sailor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Sailor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

DM Omen |

Yeah but I'm going to need the rest eventually anyways. Was just suggesting that we roll them all at once so I didn't have to keep asking.
I'll get an update tonight. Also FYI I picked up work at a tournament (I'm an umpire) this weekend, but we get every third game off so I should be able to post, just not as frequently as normal.

Bjorkus |

What does Bjorkus know as common knowledge about Pine Lake? Is it a pirate-friendly port?
Also, what was Zirul able to tell Bjorkus about the drugs in regards to local law? In addition to being an alchemist, he’s an addict so I figured he’d know.

DM Omen |

As far as Pine Lake and her entire territory goes, as long as you're not hitting main cities or big name merchants and you're not killing indiscriminately, pirating isn't paid much attention.
Some of the really hard drugs might raise some eyebrows, but the market here is pretty open. Discretion is still absolutely necessary, but there won't be many "officials" giving a damn.

Dalton Barrowwheel |

Unless I'm mistaken, this is where our scaly friend is to be dropped-off, yes?

Dalton Barrowwheel |

I thought you were dropping him off on the southern shore inside what was formerly Targ's territory.
My mistake! I thought that's where we were.

Bjorkus |

I'll just edit my post.
Bjorkus described the location here. If Dalton made plans otherwise it's news to him.
"Akropash is pretty far inland. Do you think he could make his way here on his own? It might make more sense to contact Ninnec and have him meet up with us later. There's a big port a week in to the trip - that'd be a good place to connect. Ninnec could escort him back to Akropash from there."

Toramin Gearsmith |

So some crazy stuff is happening. I'm still alive, but need to address it. I'll be back on in a few days. Thanks for understanding, please bot me.

DM Omen |

Understood Toramin. Thanks for letting us know, I hope things work out well for you.
In an effort to move things along in this slowing game (100% my fault), I'm going to push things along. Bjokus, everything goes according to plan at Pine Lake. The drugs net you 4000 gp and Luthor a bruised jaw (scuffle over territory that was quickly put down by some meaty fisting from Bjorkus). I'll get an update tomorrow for your next water-based encounter.
Dalton, the lizardfolk knows where the redscale tribe is but describes them as brutal savages. Up to you to decide where he goes.
In the meantime, always more roleplay to be had on the crowded boat!

Bjorkus |

Sorry to hear it Toramin. Come back to us soon.
Glad to hear about the success in Pine Lake! With that coin Bjorkus will pay the crew a month's wages. We're also going to pick up another month's food and drink.

Bjorkus |

Well I'm assuming all of the former slaves and Blakros's crew are all warriors/experts/commoners but as pirating is a bit more perilous I thought the solider's pay instead of the trained hireling pay would be more appropriate (5 silver/day). Bjorkus's old crew, having fancy PC classes, gets the lieutenant's pay of 4 gold/day. That's 15 gold each for the soldiers and 120 gold for the lieutenants.
Funny enough, a ship's captain only gets paid 5 gold/day and is "often a 3rd level expert, rogue, or fighter" but that definitely doesn't fit Erandor.

DM Omen |

Yeah, I've always thought of most fantasy universes as falling into three time categories. The Age of Gods, the Age of Heroes, the Age of Men. The Age of Gods is when land is being shaped and deities come down on a regular basis. The Age of Heroes is when the gods step back, but there are still many powerful and fantastic things on the world. The Age of Men is what most settings are in, with the fantastic and immensely powerful only happening in rare circumstances. I like to think of the current time as the transition from the Age of Heroes to the Age of Men.
For a second I thought you were planning to divide the 4000 gold between the crew, and I thought "Wow, if you didn't have their loyalty before you sure as hell do now".

Bjorkus |

Well he got pretty damned close. A month's wage at 4 gold/day for 12 people is 1440 gold! The rest is going into the ship's coffers for now to cover supplies and wages should we fall on hard times.
