I know this kind of late in the game to ask but I had just today stumbled upon your previous threads and really wanted to join.
I've never done a pbp before and don't know if asking now is some sort of taboo or how I would approach this group so here it is.
So if you have a need for a new character or something, I would appreciate it if I was considered.
Thanks for your time, and sorry for interrupting.

Well, usually once a game has begun it is too late unless the DM opens another recruitment;but since this entire game started to introduce a new PbPer to PF (which disappeared short of starting) i think it would be dishonest from me to say no outright. If the other have no complain i already considered a party of 6 (but if you count the elf bard is really a DM char you can tell the party is really of 5).
Do you have the CC player guide or already read char creation rules? Also take in account that if the other players accept, i'ld probably have to raise the level of encounters.
Gandal |
I have the players guide and have looked over the rules, I've got a elemental sorcerer char. concept all made up that just needs some crunching. but it seems that the group already has a "blasty mage" so im willing to roll something else up quickly.
I'ld hate to turn off your enthusiasm, remember the other players must still tell their opinion,i only said, for this time, i won't have objections.
As for the type of char, the party already has main healer (cleric) and support healer (paladin);main front line tank (paladin) and support fighter (ranger);main arcane user (wizard) and support arcane/buffer (bard). What really lack is a main rogue, but it is no mandatory. Also i allow all classes and archtypes from Corebook,APG and UM (no UC classes or archetypes thought).
If you are really going to roll a char anew anyway, please remmeber the background must include a partnership/relationship/friendship of sort with professor Petros Lorrimor and/or his daughter Kendra.Since the game has already begun you'll skip the graveyard scene,so we'll have to introduce you around the town of Ravengro. You'll probably be a native or someone arrived too late for the burial. One background trait must come from the player guide. You don't need to tell whether your char already know the other PCs.

Re. our in-game situation:
It's obvious that this situation calls for the bard to be involved. It would also mean Gandal, essential, conversing with himself. With this in mind, I propose:
~if a situation like this comes up, one of the players takes over the role of the bard.
~the new player (if playing) plays the bard, whether it be one s/he's rolled or the current one.
~the new player creates a new character and I play a bard. The only reason I'm now playing a ranger is that, at the time, we didn't have a front-line fighter. I'm easy, either way.
Thoughts?
Gandal: if you're ever unsure as to how to handle things, you can always look at other game threads to see how they've gone about things or look at the CC thread CCThread
PS It's "accommodation", not "AN accommodation". :)
Gandal |
Not unsure on how to handle situations (i hope i'm not that bad of a GM), simply not sure if you know some secrets of the AP.
Anyway i've always like to think that i give players some mean to attain the best possible ending, without spoiling anything.
I too think if Ishmell is still interested that he/she should take over the bard, if he/she is willing to play a female elf that is,but i'll adjust the entrance of the other bard and the exit of mine.

And just so all of you know, Raven Knight's diplomacy failed widly, so combat it is :)
Will probably update tomorrow morning.
Now your most immediate problem is how to put down the coffin quickly without risking it crashes on the ground (unless you are thinking of doing just that, releasing the coffin all together)
Gandal |
@Jaylen and Raven: Well, it's not that i already posted the initiative. But the module states precisely that a failed Diplomacy (DC20) ends in a fight. This is why i intended to discuss in OOC b4.Now,even with a successful aid another, you will add+2, not enough anyway.
@Ishmell:just play a chaotic good bard.If you think it doesn't suit your style send me PM and tell me whether you need advices on how to play her or you want to entirely skip char.Tell me when you are ready with your build, since we are going to need her in play now.

Last line of your first post and Kendra's post - Sunday, 12:16 PM. :)
Oh...it looks like we're fighting, unless you want my mention of a deity to give us the +1 needed!! They're VERY SUPERSTITIOUS PEOPLE, don't forget. *bats eyelids* :P

Have you ever considered taking Italian lessons :P ?

I was thinking it might detect any lingering Evil descriptor spells, or anything evil in the graveyard.
You did anything wrong, but figuring out what is happening with those men ( and soon with the whole town) is the main goal of this part of the AP
Jaylen |
I initially went to stand next to Kendra, to convince her step back, and then took a step towards the group. So, start position = G6.
What "weapon" does Gibs have?
Also, can we keep the amount of OOC chat on the game-thread to a minimum, please. I'm swapping back and forth trying to find bits of information.
If we need to cross-reference something, we can always use post times.

It's rare that I play combat characters and so I'm looking through the books for something that will help in this situation. As far as I can see, punching him in the nose is my best option, in a hope that I can put him down and, hopefully, scare the others off.
Anyone got any suggestions?
I've considered:
grapple - with so many people around, I'm putting myself in more danger.
bullrush, overrun, grab, etc - just delay the inevitable.
disarm - I could do this but to what end?
This is where I need several actions:
5' step in, snatch his pitchfork off him (disarm) whilst simultaneously dragging him to our side(drag), smack him over the head with said pitchfork (attack) (knocking him over in the process (trip)) and then threatening him with more pain if he doesn't order the others to go home (demoralise). Oh, and look good doing it (seduce)!!! :P
Gandal |
Just to be sure, here what is happening.
Everyone tried to talk the thugs out of combat, but they didn't listen.
The thugs are attacking now, and the PCs are lowering the coffin slowly, to not risking dropping it on the ground violently,or else it'll crash and loose the corpse inside.Because of this, Raven Knight,Aemrelara,Sajan and Marzio lose the first round.
Jaylen left the coffin before the others,so she can act in the first round as for initiative.
The coffin will be safely placed on the ground.

Just so we are all in the loop, I'm now taking on the role Aemrelara (Spelled with 1 L), thank you all for letting me join your merry band. I just home I don't screw it up too badly.
The more the merrier (well to a certain extent when one is DMing :P )
Also, can you tell me your time zone and normal posting pace/time?Mine is Adriatic coast,East Italy (GMT+1)

With a melee focused (yes, i know the ranger is more a ranged fighter, but also a good melee support) char i would go straight away with normal attacks.
All the maneuvers require the Improved version of the correlated feat, or else there'll be lots of AoO.Remember that in this case everyone is considering going for non lethal damage (you don't know what the farmers are planning, but they are just locals, not ogre berserkers :) )
Gandal |
Raven knight has a point here:remember that Kendra suffered non lethal damage. (won't tell more)
@Ishmell:for Aemrelara,just search a site of english verse/poetry/ballads.
Then look for an appropriate one and copy/paste it,like i was going to do.
remeber to quote the author if present.

Welcome aboard. Let me know if you need anything, I don't mind helping.
The initial idea for this game was to teach the game, so do not worry about screwing anything up. It is the point. And I do not mind at all answering questions or helping out. :)
