Another trio of misses from the pathfinders.

Faeria, the Mad

*cough* Bonifacius, you seem to be attacking Wraith, not the monster ;-) You may want to move up - it is currently a double move away from you...
But it could look like anyone! Anyone! That and depending how high the ladder is and how fast you can climb it might be best to jump down if we are trying to keep up.
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus}
|
The ninja takes a measured leap down to the lower floor, approaching cautiously.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
| GM Z..D.. |
will: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Wraith pursues the target..jumping after it..
The thing drinks the contents of the flask and instantly vanishes. The door opens on the side of building revealing a storage area.

It went off as appropriate. the enemy saved against it.

I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't just seeing things. I mean everyone else can see 'the effect' right? Or am I just crazy? ;) I only remind folks because GM's have constant true seeing after all. ;)
"You all see that don't you? All the limbs, and Harrow symbols, and pointy bits and such, right? Or is it just me?"
Faeria, the Mad
|
Faeria doesn't go yet because she is unsure as to whether or not her illusion worked.
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus}

UMD: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
The ninja moves forward as she draws a wand and activates the magic.
"If she...it..gets away now, we'll never have an opportunity like this again."
Jack Malcolm Thorpe Churchill

Jack looks annoyed.
"Then why did you stop to heal, rather than trying to catch it? It drank a potion, and then opened a door - it literally has to still be in front of it..."
Since it didn't have enough actions to do more than a 5' step...
He then hustles forward (double move).
To clarify, *Jack* is annoyed; I am not ;-)

Err Jack--you are about to be more annoyed.... Jack has to make a Will save to move where he's moved (DC 17 v illusion). There a bunch of Golarion Harrow-style, Alice in Wonderland card soldiers standing silently there. They seem to have been waiting behind the door the whole time. I just updated the map. The plan being that if the creature is using one of the more common sorts of invisibility and directly attacks a 'perceived foe' they become visible again.
And I agree about Wraith, who I think is currently standing on the assassin (or conceivably, was swallowed whole by the still-invisible bugger). I'm pretty sure they are still in that space. Oh well, unless the thing has Combat Reflexes that just means Wraith gets hit, and Jack has to somehow get past an invisible foe (it might not have an attack but you still have to get around it somehow) and the illusion.
Faeria still has actions, but can't tell exactly what to do just yet. She can't see if it made its save. If it looks like Jack might actually get past she might use part of her action to dismiss the illusion.
| GM Z..D.. |
So I did some research and have not found a definitive answer if an invisible enemy can allow you to pass through its square or not. So as far as I can tell, both Jack and Wraith would have bumped into the enemy right in front of the door.
Since wraith healed and Jack had to double move to get there. They can not take any more actions
So, with all that said. Faeria, Bonifacius and Jonas may still attempt to do something
| GM Z..D.. |
Jonas you are no where near where the action is taking place....please refer to the map through the link
Faeria, the Mad
|
Faeria then, without the help of the Widen metamagic feat, casts grease on the floor under about a dozen people (reflex DC 15). ;)
| GM Z..D.. |
Jonas you are not able to complete your movement as you run into something in your final square
Due to the grease, Jonas will have to roll the reflex as well.
reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 7
acrobatics: 1d20 ⇒ 17
A loud thud can be heard in the area in front of Jonas and Wraith, as well as fresh smear marks in the shape of buttocks in the grease.
More smudges appear in the grease in the direction of the store room, where a door leading to the sewers is open.
Pathfinders are up
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus}
|
Wraith remembers her training. She closes her eyes, reaches out with her other senses and strikes.
Swinging at the spot marked with an X. Eyes closed makes me blind, giving the doppelganger total concealment (50% miss chance).
Curveblade: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 201d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Miss Chance (low=bad): 1d100 ⇒ 61
| GM Z..D.. |
Wraith's blade makes contact and blood can be seen on the edge of his blade when he pulls it back.
End of combat
It takes a few minute for the invisibility to wear off, but when it does the body of the doppleganger is where wraith expected it.
Ramyla comes up, "So that was after me....why was it after me..."
Faeria, the Mad
|
"Oh, thank you, but in my universe I am called Faeria--FEY-REE-ah. The evil version of me from this world with a sash, dagger and goatee would be called Evil Faeria With a Sash, Dagger and Goatee--ˈēvəl FEY-REE-ah wiTH ey saSH, ˈdaɡər and goh-tee. Of course if I ever evil me, I would probably be smart enough to shave. I know I'm considering growing one so that I don't stand out so much here in the Closet World. Would a Fu Manchu be acceptable?" Faeria says brightly to the air just to the left of Jack's head. "And who are you?"
A magic word a moment later, and Faeria Without a Sash, Dagger and Goatee's eyes unfocus even more so than the group had previously seen. Detect magic.
| GM Z..D.. |
Jack investigates the dopplegangers corpse and find nothing of interest and the only thing of value is the other pearl earring.
Faeria detects no magic.
Ramyla continues to ramble on..."Oh no, they must be after Timinic, you must check on him"
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus}
|
Wraith shows Ramyla the list of names they found earlier. "Well, maybe you can tell us. What do you have common with the other names written here?"
| GM Z..D.. |
In a hushed tone, even though the tavern is empty, she explains what she knows. "Timinic is as far as I know a Society Agent or at least he was. Bosk has been his contact and has been trying to keep him or get him back to agent status. And Clovesh was helping Bosk with protecting the identity of Timinic."
She finally spots her name, "I guess I am on here because of my relationship with Timinic. I have been helping him with his research that he has been doing in the sewers. My distillery has a direct route to them. As far as Pemak is concerned, I have heard rumors that she is a go between for the poisoners guild. But, I do not know why she would be involved with the Society."
Faeria, the Mad
|
"Oh, and all the names on the list have vowels in them too! How come only 'Oathbreaker' Bosk has a colorful nickname? I've got a colorful nickname, but I can't tell you because there are ladies present."
Faeria, the Mad
|
"So... Lunch?"
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus}
|
Kinda at a loss of where to go next. We caught the killer. Do we need to find who hired her...it?
| GM Z..D.. |
Yep...and timinic may be able to fill you in. Hence why she keeps mentioning it...I'll will go ahead and put you all at there. Not everybody catches the killer at this point. in the IRL game I ran, my guys ran around looking for clues and ran out of time.
Ramyla gives you directions to Timinic's house on the edge of town. This cabin features sturdy wooden walls, with thick glass in its two small windows. A covered porch looks out over the banks of the Dagger River to the west, though steady sleet obscures the view.
| GM Z..D.. |
The door opens immediatley, revealing a gnome, "Quick, come in, the lot of you." Once inside the door, he shuts and place both magical and mundane safeguards in place.
"So, you must be more society dogs uh.." He scratches his wiry beard, "Did Bosk send you to assist me? I think I got the location narrowed down."
Jack Malcolm Thorpe Churchill
|
Jack nods.
"Aye, Bosk sent us. I am afraid that we have some bad news, and some good news. Bosk is dead - poisoned. We went to the Distillery, and caught (and killed) a shapeshifter before it could kill Ramyla, but found your name on a 'hit list'. Unfortunately, we weren't able to derive any further intelligence. We hoped you might have some idea of whom might have hired the assassin, so we can go and deal with them...?"
| GM Z..D.. |
"I am not so sure who would hire this assassin." He thinks back for a second. "I do remember, after my adventures in a sewer, I went to the Dryblade house to give my most recent report and overheard Bosk and a dwarf name Clovesh arguing about something. About an oath being broken. They then stashed me away here and told me to lie low for a while."
"Now, I really do not know much more than that. But if I were you, I would search out Pemak, at her apothecary. She always know whats going around here in Daggermark, I don;t know how she does it, but it wierds me out."
He then goes to his desk and pulls out a journal stuffed with loose pieces of parchment with doodles on them, "If you find yourselves in the sewers, these may help. My sketches and mapping of the sewers underneath Daggermark"

"No. In fact I am not from your world at all. My name is Faeria, and I am from a world were the goatee did not become as popular. Sashes and daggers too, I'm afraid. They just never caught on. Just by looking at you Mr. Timinic I can see you are a native to this world." She gives the man's facial hair a tug just to make sure. "Yep. I was right."
| GM Z..D.. |
Slightly taken aback from Faeria beard yank, "That is attached you know. You are a strange one indeed."
"Plans...no more plans until this gets settled out. As I said before, Pemak is most likely at the apothecary that you passed on the way into town."
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus}
|
Wraith returns to her more familiar role of quiet observation. Jack seems to have this. He's a nice addition to the team. To keep the rest of us safe, Faeria may have to be put down . Hopefully that will not come to pass.

Slightly taken aback from Faeria beard yank, "That is attached you know. You are a strange one indeed."
"Hmm? Oh no Gwendolyn is the strange one...." Faeria says distractedly. "I mean she talks to an owl after all."
"Plans...no more plans until this gets settled out. As I said before, Pemak is most likely at the apothecary that you passed on the way into town."
"You mean in those shelves on the left side of the closet?"
"Alright then. Stay safe. We'll try to get to the bottom of this."
"Yes you can trust us complete strangers, whoever we are, really. Heee."
Jack then heads for Pemak's place.
Faeria gladly follows behind the the group of complete strangers, skipping with her dagger in her hand.
"Do you think the apothecary will have something to eat?"
As she goes she sings a little nonsense song.
| GM Z..D.. |
A wooden sign depicting a flask of blue liquid hangs over the door of this cramped building. A faint aroma of burning vinegar wafts from the windows, which remain open despite the sleet.
A toothy half-orc looks up as the PC's enter the shop. "Welcome, what can I do for you? Would you like some potions or poultice. Or possibly other professional grade medicinal remedies."
faeria disguise: 1d20 + 1 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 10 = 19
Pemaks perception: 1d20 ⇒ 3
"Ah, Captain Bosk what, do I owe the pleasure"
| Silly Disguise |
"Ah, Captain Bosk what, do I owe the pleasure"
sense motive (does the half-orc look surprised?): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
Captain Bosk looks behind him before realizing that he is being addressed by the half-orc proprietor. "Huh? Oh, uh, err... 'Captain', that's military, right?" The revivified Venture-Captain takes a moment to consider before giving his reply taken from some old military banter. "Well, Top-hole squire! Bally Jerry, pranged his kite right in the how's-your-father; hairy blighter, dicky-birded, feathered back on his sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harpers and caught his can in the Bertie."
bluff (well, the VC might be suffering an aneurysm.): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Jack pinches the bridge of his nose, and sighs.
"Please ignore that one; the real Bosk is dead, poisoned by a shape-shifting assassin. For some reason, this mad creature is following us around; I am not quite sure which member of the Decemvirate we annoyed to justify such a punishment."
He then smiles wanly.
"The reason that we are actually here, is that we have been told that you are someone who is in the business of knowing things. We have reason to believe that Bosk was assassinated in connection with something that was seen, that should not have been, in the sewers; would you happen to have any intelligence on the subject that would be useful? We would like to pay a... personal visit... to the one(s) responsible for this series of unfortunate events."
| Silly Disguise |
"I'm right here you know? I could drum you out of the Society for insubordination. I could have you up on charges, and court-martialed. I'll have you peeling potatoes in some Rune Lord assigned to the sin of Not-Knowing-When-To-Use-An-Apostrophes's dungeon for the next twenty years soldier!" shouts Bosk.
"And I'll have you address me as sir or by gods I'll have ensign-" Bosk leans down to Bonifactius ear for a quick moment. "What's your name solider? Nevermind, I'm the captain. I'll have Ensign Battleaxe here take you out at the knees! Not get my banter will you!? Well..." he bellows while managing to roll the 'e' in 'well'. "Drop, and give me 77!"
The tirade continues on for a bit, and then finally, mercifully blows itself out.
| GM Z..D.. |
She looks over at "Bosk" and back at Jack. "That is a nice trick"
"Now this being Daggermark, assassinations",The half orc shakes her head before continuing. "are legal here, as long as you do not target the military." In a sweeping motion to the lines of flask and jars, "Now if you are seeking specialized medical care, I may be able to point you in the right direction. Medical Specialist can only operate under proper instructions. Anything outside of that is cut out of the business altogether. Now if bosk was visited by a specialist, which is highly unlikely, see how he was in good health, must of been a free lance specialist"
"What did Bosk suffer from?"
