Sir Kane Ravencourt - Note that I originally stated that Races should be limited to Core and Featured Races from the Advanced Race Guide - the Stryx is an Uncommon Race and I may not consider it for inclusion in the party (although I am not definitively saying I won't at this stage - it might still make for interesting RP)

I understand. It's worth noting that Kane isn't actually Stryx. He's a cursed human. The Stryx race was just the most "monstrous" race I could find. I'm not married to it. I'd be happy to change his race to anything you'd be more comfortable with, so long as it's physically inhuman and curse-worthy.

I drew inspiration for Kane from old fairy tales like Beauty and the Beast. The actual inhuman shape isn't nearly as important as the reactions it draws from people.

How about a Tiefling? They are definitely an accursed race, with blood of demons or devils in their veins.

I thought about that, but frankly, I feel Teiflings are overdone, and not quite monstrous/bestial enough. If I could crank up the demonic appearance, I'd consider it, but Teiflings are described as "mostly normal with subtle demonic traits".

I wanted Kane to look like something that couldn't possibly be mistaken for normal. I'm fine re-fluffing anything the GM thinks is appropriate and just using the mechanics of whatever race fits best.

Recruitment will be open for a week, during which time I will try and answer any questions, with an expected close date of 19th April, Midnight GMT. I will make my selection over the following weekend and look to start the adventure on the 22nd April. The selected persons should be able to commit to posting at least once per day during the week.

..

As you are considering which characters you are going to include in the game I wanted to let you know I am still interested. Just an FYI this weekend I will be going back home for a weekend of RPG's with my old table group. Its a last fling before I move away from the local area in a few weeks, so I probably won't be posting on the boards much if at all from Friday until Monday when I am back on campus. That is the 19th-22nd, so if you select me I will be able to start posting on Monday, but over the weekend I probably won't be responding to any posts.

@DH I think Nagaji is about the most inhuman of the Uncommon races. I amlost suggested Tengu as well, but I don't want you stealing my thunder. :)

I'm also a big fan of Kuru... but they're more mentally inhuman than physically.

Good suggestion. I think at this point I'll leave it up to the GM. The actual race isn't nearly as important as the role-play fuel behind the curse.

Kane Ravencourt - I think the Inhuman nature of the Stryx goes well with the curse...I think I am happy for you to leave it as is.

Darn, no custom races...First one that actually acknowledged that they exist though...

Alright, thank you. Now I just have to bite my nails until the party is selected.

Vladumai

Alright, backstory posted up on it.

Last day of recruitment...So far we have the following submissions (I am happy that they are all complete and everyone has provided backgrounds):

Combat
Urok Scratcher - Half-Orc Fighter
Horatio Labreque - Human Monk of the Endless Step
Aklo Dragonkeep - Kobold Ranger (Beast Master)
Sara Evergreen - Aasimar Paladin of Pharasma
Sir Kane Ravencourt - Stryx Paladin of Pharasma

Divine
Yggdra - Tengu Cleric of Groetus
Maldrek - Tiefling Inquisitor of Asmodeus
Vladumai - Dhampir Inquisitor of Pharasma
Stabber Fogeyes - Goblin Oracle

Arcane
Efka / Ifka - Ifrit Oracle / Sorcerer (Schizophrenic Character)
Hereldlon – Elf Wizard

Skilled / Miscellaneous
Trexy Vextrotter - Gnome Bard (Archaeologist)
Gazzer - Ratfolk Alchemist (Cryptbreaker)

As always with the quality of the submissions, it is looking like it will be very difficult to choose a party of just five...I will take some time over the weekend and will decide / communicate about the party selection by Saturday midnight GMT.

From then, I will get the rest of the campaign boards set up, make final checks on character sheets and start posting by Monday midnight GMT

At this time I am going to pull my Character from the selection process. One of the games I was in that had disbanded 6 months ago suddenly restarted so with the other ones I have recently gotten into and the one I DM I think taking on this would be to much. Thanks for considering him and good luck with your game.

Slightly later than I expected but, due to the strength of the submissions, I really struggled with cutting down to a party size of five....

So, without further ado.....I have selected:

Horatio Labreque - Human Monk
Sir Kane Ravencourt - Stryx Paladin of Pharasma
Yggdra - Tengu Cleric of Groetus
Efka / Ifka - Ifrit Oracle / Sorcerer
Trexy Vextrotter - Gnome Bard

For those who I haven't selected, thank you very much for your proposals....there are enough high quality characters not selected to make a second party so, dependent upon how this goes, keep an eye out for a possible second parallel run of this adventure (I will PM you if I do decide I can accommodate a second group)

For those I have selected....keep an eye out for the Gameplay / Discussion thread, please post to say hello in the discussion thread so I know we are all here before we start....

And once again, thanks to all for showing interest in my game......

looking like a lotta CHA :D what kinda party is this? Hope someone brings the drinks. glhf :D and congrats

Thanks for the consideration and enjoy the game!

"May Sarenrae bless all that I travel with."

Ifka snickers then says "And I shall burn who get in my way!"

I apparently have lost my knack for getting accepted for pbp. I shall have to work on that.

Trexy cheerfully says "Wha-hey! May fame and exciting discoveries await!", as she starts to write a new entry in her journal.

Wow! I didn't really expect to make this one. Glad I took a risk with my submission. :)

Looking forward to the game. Any idea when we should expect a discussion/gameplay thread up?

Dark Archive

Thanks GM and everyone else. Happy to be about. I'll get my alias in line.

All, Hoping to get Gameplay and Discussion Thread up in the next few hours...may be a slight delay as I have had a RL altercation with a staircase (fell down a few stairs and have torn some ligaments - been in and out of hospital over the last few days)....

But...I should still be on track for a first Gameplay post this evening (GMT)

GL MR Zed, and players.

Note to self: always take 20 on acrobatics

Hope ya start to feel better.
