About Sara Evergreen

Story:
Sara had always felt different from her friends. It wasn't much, just an odd habit of thinking of them as "humans" when she was distracted. She made friends among the non-human children to see if they were different from her human friends, which they were, but she felt different from them as well. This vague feeling was defined one night while she was 14. She was walking home from a friends house when a vampire spawn, on the run from some members of the nearby temple of Pharasma, attacked her in the hopes of a quick energy boost. When the priests caught up a minute later, they found her scared nearly out of her wits with the vampire lying of the ground, screaming in agony while clutching his stomach. After disposing of the vampire, the priests brought Sara to the temple and summoned her parents, and soon learned that Sara's great-grandmother had been acquainted with a celestial visitor for some time. The priests made it known that if Sara asked, she would not be denied entry to the temple, and within a week, she was wearing the robes of an acolyte, scrubbing the stuffing out of floor stones.

Time passed, which she had a lot of, due to the fact that her aging slowed to a crawl after the attack, and Sara learned to combat the enemies of her faith. She was found to be exceptionally good at destroying undead, as she had an inherited resilience to their effects. At the age of 70, Sara was finally (due to the fact that she finally looked old enough) given the rank of Paladin, along with a well-made copy of her preferred weapon, an over-sized hammer known as an earth-breaker.

She has served the people of Kaer Maga for eight years, while waiting for a chance to prove her faith, courage, and dedication. Now that something is defiling the Godsmouth Ossuary, she is not about to let the culprit, or this chance, get away...

Cross-section:
Despite being a Paladin of Pharasma, Sara is a bright, happy, slightly ditzy person. She views that since life will come to an end, it's best to live one worth living. As such, she can often be found in taverns at evening, drinking with her friends and livin' large. However, if undead are known to be around, she becomes extremely business-like, refusing any fun until the undead are destroyed. This shift in manners is rooted in the fact that she was attacked by a vampire spawn when young, and only survived due to her angelic heritage. She knows that others do not share her gifts, and need to be defended against such monstrosities.

Despite her advanced age, she looks barely over the age of twenty, which has caused her no little amount of annoyance in the past, as she was held back from graduation until she looked old enough.

Notable allies:

Greg
Greg can normally be found in just about any tavern, nursing a drink. Most people assume he is just a drunk, begging a drink off of anyone who would buy him one. Most people also don‘t know that Greg has very sharp ears and is never as drunk as one would assume, and as such knows almost everything that is happening. He has passed a few tips to Sara in exchange for some gold, which has earned Sara a good reputation with the city watch. Greg knows that he could make more gold if he went directly to the watch, but he also knows that any attempt to trace the info leak back from the watch would probably end with Sara, as Sara knows everybody.

Sargent William Cabot
William is Sara‘s perferred watch contact. This is because he was willing to believe a tip passed on by an apparently 18 year old girl, a fact that Sara has not forgot. Over the years, Sara has passed dozens of tips to him, most of which have resulted in some pretty impressive takedowns, the lastest of which earned William his recent promotion.

Bruce and Gerrie
Bruce is a bouncer at the Galloping Gertie, a pub Sara frequents. Sara usually helps him with the slightly more rowdy customers, and has impressed him by throwing a drunk out with each hand multiple times. Gerrie is the pub owner, and shows his appreciation of her work by giving her a free drink, which she usually ‘forgets‘ next to Greg or someone Greg-like.

Brother James Cornish
The master at arms of the temple, James is officially in charge of Sara‘s training. Due to the fact that he trained with her under the previous master, he usually asks her to help train the other initiates.


Notable enemies:

Joe
Joe is a man who just wishes to drown his sorrows in drink. Unfortunately, he gets drunk easily, and gets violent when drunk. He has been thrown out of many taverns, often with Sara doing the throwing, and currently working on a way to blame Sara for everything that‘s wrong with his life.

Nasty Ned
Ned is the leader of a local gang of miscreants. He has suffered several setbacks due to tips that Sara has passed on, and wants to get even. So far, he hasn‘t succeded, which annoys him almost more than the nickname Sara gave him.
