The thing ate my post!
"How do you catch a one-of-a-kind bird?" Ai imagines herself actually making her friends laugh for once. Ollo's deep, booming dwarf laugh. Talon cracking up in a most undignified manner. Even her old friend Aarion cracking a half-hearted smile. Then, as she darts forward between Talon and Ollo, she forms her thoughts of hilarity into a spear-shape and shoves it at one of the tengu's minds.
"You neek up on it!"
Casting Hideous Laughter, DC 17 Will negates. If allowed, I'd also like to Hypnotic Stare at the same tengu (purple line). Hypnotic Stare can work even while the Mesmerist is blind, so maybe it can work through the barricade. Up to you.

![]() |

I think given our situation, your actions are good. Alternately, I could take a round to place you up on the barricade, if you'd like. You could be a little magic missile turret up there (though you'd also be a target).

![]() |

As the final bandit on the barricade falls, the two singers turn their horses around and retreat back toward the rest of the Tengu army waiting in the distance Ai you can save your spell. A few cheers elsewhere in camp suggest that the same has happened on the other fronts, but a quick look toward the council members is enough to stop them. This clearly isn't over.
"The barricade on the north entrance, it's totally collapsed!" Says on of the crossbowman running up to the party. "We were hoping that maybe you could defend that area next, we can take over here if you'd like."
The northern barrier is a grisly mess of bodies and broken and charred wood. A few villagers lay dead on the ground, but the Tengu number far more, one lies face down in the makeshift moat of the flooded fields, a few others lie dead among the traps. An entire ten foot section of the barricade has been broken down but the rest is intact.
It's not long before you see something coming down the road, though it doesn't quite look like an attack. It's a cage, rolling down the road, door open and inside is a monstrous beast with a black and white pattern along it's strange feathered bear like body.
GO ahead and place yourselves on the map and take any single round actions for prep that you'd like to. DC 5 to climb the inside of the barricade (the villagers have shifted some of the debris to make it easier). The cleared section of road is just under the 6a on the map, there is no barricade there. Talon and Ollo are no longer larger either.

Talon's Shield spell had a duration of 2 minutes. Is it also expired?
Know, Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Given the roll, what all does Talon know about it? Do I need a higher roll to gain additional offensive/defensive capabilities of the animal?
"Owl Bear!" Talon roars as he rushes to the gap in the northern barricade.

![]() |

Any spell numbered in minutes is expired, anything longer like Mage Armor is still up. Talon knows that Owlbears are known to grab their victims tightly after a successful attack.

![]() |

Facing only a single opponent, Talon doesn't reactivate his shield. As his teammates fill in around him, he gives what advice he can.
"I've read about these creatures. If they hit you, they will try to grab ahold. Take care that they don't."

![]() |

Ai blinks, tilting her head comically at the owlbear and widening her eyes before turning back to the party. "Whooo dooooo yooooooou think would dooooo something like that? Putting one of those in a cage?" She pats Talon on the back, grinning ear-to-ear. "Yooooooou can take him!"
I''ll give Talon False Flanker. Next time he's fighting the owlbear, he gets flanking against it for a turn.

![]() |

Ollo shrinks back to normal size as the bandits retreat, and he claps his companions on the shoulders before he realizes things are not quite over yet. Wearily, he sighs and rushes to the new battlefield, positioning himself once more shoulder to shoulder with Talon.
"Well, This'll be interestin!" he says, looking over the beast being pushed towards them. Turning to Ai, he winks through his grizzled beard and responds "Someone a bit more flighty then yerself, girl!" before chuckling at his own very poor attempt at a pun. He grabs his wand, and taps himself before setting up for the oncoming charge.
"Stand fast, and hold yer lines!" he calls out. "This looks ta be their last push!"
Bless, +1 Attack for everyone

Talon gives Ollo one final, grave nod before the beast attacks. When it crashes into the dwarf, Talon steps to its side, trying to split its attention as he draws on his polymorphic magic. His blade is clumsy, but his wolf's bite is true.

Sorry all, got distracted with life. Thanks for keeping it going in my absence. To catch up...
When the runner alerts the party to the collapse of the northern barricade Tynat stamps a foot and pouts.
"Bloody birdbrains broke my beautiful barricade!"
Tiny Tynat jumps onto the shoulder of giant Talon and hitches a ride to the northern edge of the village, where he takes up a spot on the barricade there next to the newly made hole, before returning to normal size. As the cage containing the owlbear approaches he takes out a vial containing a thick, syrupy green liquid, and with a grimace, uncorks it and downs the contents.
"Bleh. Yuck. Uhg. Must make mutagens more palatable."
As he mumbles to himself about the foul flavor of his concoctions, his small wiry body begins to twist and alter. His already lanky limbs and digits thin and extend, his skin stretching tight over them, and his face becomes lean and drawn.
Use mutagen. Gain 4 dex, 2 natural armor, -2 wis for 10 minutes.
Tynat chucks a bomb at the beast as it approaches but his aim is off, as he's having a tough time adjusting back to being regular size, and newly mutated as well.
As it reaches the wall, he is about to hurl yet another bomb, when Talon and Ollo surround the thing. Not wanting to blast his new friends, he unslings his longbow and fires an arrow off at it instead.
