What do folks like to play? I got to use a Level 1 paladin and cleric during PaizoCon playtests, but honestly I think I'm willing to try those classes again if people want.
I'm up for most anything, though the new resonance system has me wondering how much I'll enjoy an alchemist, so I'd be willing to try that.
I am considering a psychic. Never played one and like full casters. Thoughts? Could go faith and have a little healing ability.
Pyschic's aren't in the 2e playtest. It's just the core classes and alchemist.
I'm thinking probably a bard, but I might change my mind after I see the class preview.
OK. I guess I need to go look at what is in the playtest. Who can point me to that?
All of the blogs about the playtest are HERE
The core classes + alchemist are all in the playtest.

I'm sure there's going to be all sorts of excitement once the playtest actually hits. I don't expect anyone to lock in characters until then.

Ditto to you! I saw the RotRL game I started long ago was still active, even if under different management now. Likewise, looking forward to the game with you, and learning the new ropes.
Hmm. I had been thinking of leaning toward monk, but have to admit I'm curious about sorcerer based on the latest blog... If no one else wants to try that class out, maybe I'll give it a shot.
I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to try out Sorcerer, but will defer to you since you said it first. The sorcerer blog has me so freaking excited it's making my head spin!
Nah, it's all yours, Tyler. I just wanted to make sure we got to see at least one in action.
I've got an idea for a monk that's starting to percolate a bit.
I will likely build my Sylvan sorcerer who is now level 18, reforging her for use in PFS2. :)
Elf Druid lvl 17| AC:30 T:23 FF:25|HP: 92/207|BaB: +12 /+7/+2|F/R/W19/16/22|Init:+8|CMB: +19|CMD: 36|SR (Fire) 20
I typically run magical, non-front line combat... I think I would like to try a Barbarian or a Fighter for this game. :)
Sorcerer blog was great! Really interested to see how that turns out. I'm glad you are thinking about a monk, Jacob. I want to see one of those in action.
I'm still thinking bard or rogue, leaning bard.
I was thinking barbarian but can easily shift to whatever is not taken. Perhaps a cleric will round the party out well?
I'd be happy with a rogue or bard. Or perhaps even a druid, though lower level druids are not always that great.

I'm excited that there is this much excitement already :)
The bard preview looked great. Getting very excited.

FYI, I have my copy of the scenario now and I'm starting to prep :)
So we're less than a week away from the test being released.
I think what we've got planned is this?
Tyler -- sorcerer
GM Wise One -- rogue/bard/druid?
Chester -- Bard?
Amsheagar -- Barbarian/Fighter
Motteditor -- Monk
DM Dr Evil -- Barbarian
That seems like a pretty good mix. Maybe I'll try multiclassing my monk with cleric so those rules can get a test and we can have a little healing? I think that'll work for my monk concept (depending on how the rules work) I'm playing around with.
If you don't want to try the multiclassing, I was thinking of doing a pretty support-focused bard, so I could try to bring the primary healing.
OK. I'll wait and look at the rules. I think they want folks to check out the multiclassing rules, so I don't mind doing it. Wait and see. :)
GM, do you have an ETA for when you want us to have our characters ready?
So do we want to set a deadline for finalizing character creation? I got my rules downloaded...
As do I. But it will be this weekend before I can fully read and digest them.
I'm gonna start working on mine. Definitely going Gnome Fey Sorcerer.

Got my book as well. I'm not going to be able to look at anything seriously until after the weekend though; I'm working a booth at Gencon. (The Irish Bard if anyone wants to say Hi)
I've got my sorcerer mostly done. Will make her a character profile sometime this weekend, and I'll be all ready to go. :)

Crazy busy week. I will download the book tomorrow and get the stuff ready. When do you need it all by?

And back from GenCon! I got to play some Demos and have started reading the book, which looks pretty fun.
There isn't a super rush on everyone finishing right away, but I'm looking to start things up on the 13th. How about we go with this:
*Everyone lock in character classes by Friday.
*Finish up characters by Sunday evening.
I may post up a google drive link for everyone to post their skill bonuses to make life easier.
If anyone needs anything or has questions, let me know.
@Wolfspirit: One big question mark about the playtest right now is whether all characters are considered proficient with unarmored defense. As a sorcerer, this matters to me. I heard that at GenCon one of the designers said that they meant to explicitly give every character proficiency with unarmored defense. Are we playing like that, or rules as written?

How about this: Since we're all somewhat new to the system, if any questions like this come up where it appears there was a mistake, we'll go with the player's preference, on the condition that you keep a rough track of the impact of the rule as well as the subjective "how it felt" to turn in with the playtest feedback. Just let me know so I can do the same with a GM spin on it.

Oh, one note: As Written the Quests portions can be run in any order, but it seems to make sense to run them in the order they're written. Unless anyone has an objection, I'll go with that.
If we do not have a goblin alchemist that would sorta be a shame. I am switching to that unless there is an objection.
Male CN Human (Absalom) Bard 1 | HP 18/18 | AC 15 TAC 13 | F: +2, R: +3, W: +2 | Perc: +3 | Speed 25 ft | Spell Points: 5/5 | Resonance: 4/4 | Spells: 1st 2/2 | Active conditions: inspire courage, shield.
Still a few things to iron out (skills and equipment) but this is the character that I'm thinking of running.
(Here's a link to a DOC with my bb code in it, if you want to copy/paste.)
Portrait selection seems a bit wonky right now. Anyone else having problems with it?
Yeah, it's definitely not working right. It's been brought up in the website feedback forum.
Elf Druid lvl 17| AC:30 T:23 FF:25|HP: 92/207|BaB: +12 /+7/+2|F/R/W19/16/22|Init:+8|CMB: +19|CMD: 36|SR (Fire) 20
Since this is a new system, I am going to stay with the Fighter. That is until I know what I'm doing again. :)
This summer vacation has turned into quite a busy month for me. (Teacher in Japan.) Its somewhat busier than normal school year. I am prepping a Kickstarter for my next game. Reaching out to reviewers to get their reviews down by the end of this month, making sure my calculations are good, so I don't lose money.
But, yes. I will be the warrior of the group. Call me... Bob. lol... don't know the name yet.
I'll have my character's profile made sometime tomorrow. She's pretty much ready to go.
If Amsheagar is going melee, I will take cleric and see how the divine casting works in the new system. Doesn't stop someone from multi-classing to it later.
I will have my character up this weekend.
Sounds good, Dr. Evil.
I have my character mostly done, though still have to put him into a profile.
Couple questions:
Am I reading the rules right that the only feat we start with is a class feat?
Also, does my reading gibe with yours? As a monk, I have 3 signature skills. I'm not necessarily trained in those skills unless I choose them with my allocation of 3 (plus Int mod) trained skills.
You start with a Class feat and an Ancestry feat. If you're a human, you get another Ancestry feat, and human ancestry feats have options for turning them into Class or Skill or General feats, so humans essentially get any type of feat as a bonus at level 1. If you want to be a half-elf or a half-orc, that uses up one of those two human ancestry feats.
Sorry, forgot to mention the ancestry feats (I was thinking no general or skill feat). Thanks, Tyler.
Doublechecking -- where do you see that humans get two ancestry feats? I was looking back through the list and don't see that.
Quote:
HUMAN ANCESTRY FEATS
At 1st level, you gain one ancestry feat, and you gain an
additional ancestry feat every 4 levels thereafter (at 5th,
9th, 13th, and 17th levels). As a human, you choose from
among the following ancestry feats.
