Glade Wolf |
on my turn I double move forward. by the way, unless it has been 8 hours, which was during the orcs, my sunrod should still be lit, lighting up more area, probably
Agromite Monshoon |
"Yeah! What he said!" The gnome dives forward, partly to escape the predicament he's in but partly to set himself up in a better tactical position. He dodges and rolls his way across the floor before popping up to his feet to flank one of the rats before striking at it. His aim is true and his strike lands but the rat ends up with barely a scratch.

Jamadar |
Jamadar attacks the rats on him, slashing at the flanked one and reaching out with his palm for another. He then steps 5ft back into the doorway to prevent being overrun.
rapier, flanking: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
shocking grasp touch attack: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 - 2 = 7 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Shae Oakenshield |
Shae keeps his eyes on the doorway as the sounds of battle begin. When he sees Jamadar step out of the room bleeding from at least 2 severe wounds, he steps up while asking Bolka to heal his companion and touches Jamadar on the shoulder.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7
Grumthar |
Grumthar steps into better position to see into the room.
"Down boy!", he shouts while shaking his fist and pointing at the one in front of the door (marked by the circle) activating his tremor ability.
Tremor: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 vs. rodent CMD to be tripped
"Hmmm, that should have worked better, I think. Maybe I was supposed to shake both fists ... at any rate, all yours Jamadar
WhtKnt |
Glade Wolf dashes forward as Jamadar lashes out at the rats near him before withdrawing to receive a welcome healing from Shae. Einar smashes a rat nearest him. Agromite tumbles out of a bad situation and strikes a rat, leaving a minor wound. Meanwhile, Grumthar attempts to set a rat upon it's butt, but fails to do so.
The remaining rats continue to swarm forward. One attacks Jamadar through the doorway, as another bites at Einar. Two gang up on Agromite once more. All attacks by the rodents miss their targets.
Party is up!

Hmm, lets try this again ... now how did it go ...
Grumthar uses his Tremor ability, targeting the same rat as before.
Tremor(Trip CM): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 vs. rodent CMD to be tripped
Glade Wolf |
I fire at the nearest rat with a durable arrow hit: 4 + 1 - 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + 1 - 4 + (17) = 18
4+1 because of point blank shot, but -4 for firing into melee
dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 +1 because of point blank shot.
Agromite Monshoon |
Agromite tries to stay calm as the rats swarm around him, but he can't help but notice that the gap between him and his companions seems to be widening. He takes a careful step backwards from the two beasts in front of him before trying to take advantage of Einar's position by striking at another one. His strike is again on target but this time it lands more solidly and draws more blood.

WhtKnt |
Will give Shae a day to update, then carry on.
Shae Oakenshield |
Assuming that Agromite killed the one he attacked, I'll move into the room and attack the eastern rat remaining. Otherwise, I will attack the one near the door.
Seeing the gnome finish off another rat, Shae moves into the room to help clean up, but stumbles on a carcass as he tries to swing his axe.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
WhtKnt |
Actually, you go before him, which is why I waited. ;)
Glade Wolf moves into position and targets the rat just inside the door, dropping it in it's tracks. "That were MY target, boy!" Shae warns jokingly, swinging at another rat, but stumbling over the carcass and missing.
Jamadar steps into the room and discharges his shocking grasp on the nearest rat. The creature squeals but stubbornly refuses to fall. Einar, however, is quick to resolve the issue, annihilating the creature with his club.

His target deceased, Grumthar decides to conserve his tremor ability. The remaining rat snaps viciously at Shae, but cannot get past the dwarf's armor.
Rat vs. Shae: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Grumthar |
Aww, nuts. I am pretty sure that would have been the first time I've ever tripped anything successfully as an arcane caster. :)
Given that the rodents are nearly dispatched, Grumthar will ready an action to tremor anything hostile looking coming from the adjacent room or north hallway.
Tremor: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 vs. Trip CMD
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson |
Einar, quickly paces to the other side of Agromite "verzeihen Sie mir Freund, werde ich die letzte Ratte zu töten" realizing he was speaking in his native tongue, he apologized "Ven I get excited, I speak in my mother language! I vill kill the last ratte, ya?" he then turns and swings his club viciously at the last of the vermin.
20 ft move, power attack with club
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 for damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
guess not
Glade Wolf |
I'll take care of that rat, you all can't hit it hit: 4 + 1 - 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + 1 - 4 + (19) = 20 with a durable arrow darn, 1 more would be a crit
dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 and if that last rat is dead, he will recover his durable arrows.
WhtKnt |
The rat squeals once, then lies still.
Combat over!
You are faced with a room full of debris.
Shae Oakenshield |
Shae looks around the room to make sure nothing else is moving in the debris. He then looks at his companions. "Well done. Is anyone injured?"
Grumthar |
"more meat for dinner!"
WhtKnt |
A search of the debris yields nothing. Jamadar, you see nothing in the other room.
Jamadar |
Didn't expect to with my roll haha. At least Einar rolled a 20 so we can be pretty sure its empty.
Jamadar returns to the others. "Let's keep going. Follow behind us again while we sneak ahead."
Motioning for Agromite to follow, he proceeds down the main passage.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson |
Einar follows Jamadar out of the room back into the hallway. for being called 'magical' this prison has been lackluster, how am I to gain riches rifling through rat dung Pointing north he asks "werden wir weiter nach Norden," shaking his head he reiterates in common "Shall vee continue going to zee north, Ya?" keeping hs club at the ready, and watching carefully, he follows Agromite and Jamadar as they proceed down the main passage, attempting to be stealthy in his chainmail armor.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Grumthar |
Grumthar will carve up some rat fillets. "Hey, if we don't eat it, something else will, and will get stronger by it."
Shae Oakenshield |
Shae looks at Grumthar as he moves over to the rats. "I hate rat. Just make sure I purify it before we eat it." He then moves back into the hallway to wait for him to finish before moving on.
WhtKnt |
Unfortunately, the corridor goes no further north, dead ending just a few feet after the pair of doors.
WhtKnt |
Nothing there that your keen senses can detect.
Agromite Monshoon |
"Not sure what's scaring me more....how creepy this place is, or that Im starting to understand that guy......"
Once the area is clear the gnome returns to stealthing his way down the hall to continue exploring.
I love dynamic lighting but its hard to figure out where we've been vs new territory. I put myself at the intersection where I THINK we'll start covering new ground to the west, but can we get a confirmation? Maybe we start leaving text boxes or something in rooms where we've already explored??
Jamadar |
jamadar has been arcane marking our path so even though we don't know in person our characters should be able to easily retrace our steps. As we leave an area I rotate the arcane mark arrow to show we left it. An up arrow means we went through a door. A down arrow means that we came into the area FROM that door (so one side of door points up one points down). If we leave a door wecame through the down arrow is rotated to point west, and on the other side it is rotated to point east.
Grumthar |
Yeah, it would be nice if it left explored areas in a different shade of "fog"
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson |
As Einar passes the rest of the party following Agromite and Jamadar he turns and smile showing a toothy, carnivorous grin. "kommen Freunde let us vollow das gnome zey have a Begabung.. a gift...für die Suche nach...vinding of Reichtum...how you say treasure."
Einar in his backwater uneducated prejudice believes all gnomes have a gifting with mechanics and treasure, so he's very happy ambling after Agromite

I've outlined explored areas in green, though I don't know if it will be visible once you've passed through. Where to next?
Jamadar |
Thanks DM. The green shows up good, though the darkness prevents it from being visible. Is there a way to turn off darkness for certain rooms? i know if you dropped a light we wouldn't see it since it's not in our line of sight? That would definitely make it more clear. But this is good enough, can see by waving the character around where the green is :) I think we can go straight south. Is that a doorway or a dead end? (from the hall we were just in with the rats) If it is a doorway, lets check it. If not there appears two options. At the back of the 3 rooms we did explore on the same wall as our passage we are in (are you sure we did?) there's a passage, or farthest left has a pathway north.
I say if that south area directly below the hallway we are in (where einar is standing) is not a doorwar, then we go all the way to the west then north. (i will put my mini here to signify)
Grumthar |
"Hmmf. One door is as good as any I suppose. I can recall at least 2 passages we didn't take. We should just follow what looks like the main passage for now."
WhtKnt |
In the dead-end room at the head of the corridor, Jamadar sees four strange-looking birds hopping about madly. They do not appear to have noticed the elf. Each of the birds has a long, narrow proboscis and two pairs of bat-like leathery wings.
Jamadar |
Know Arcana or Planes?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 If its a magical beast or outsider I might know what it is. I can roll again for Planes if you want them separate.
Jamadar silently moves back to the group, keeping his bow leveled at the nearest creature. He waves and points ahead when they can see him, hefting his bow as if to say, if you have one of these, get ready.
Then he readies an attack on the first bird to move and tries to stay around 30ft away. If none engage before the group is ready, he will try to ambush them with the others.
init, if needed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
WhtKnt |
These are stirges, bloodsucking birds that are common to underground realms.
Grumthar |
Grumthar cautiously moves into better position and motions for the rest of the group to quietly turn the corner and come forward.
