Bangkha |
Bangkha sees the gryn, is grateful he can fight with sticks.
Also, I'll be travelling for the rest of June and July. I think I should be able to access the internet most of the time, but if there's any danger of me holding things up, bot me. It's not like Bangkha's terribly subtle.
Dantes Goldforge |
A rogue for a quartermaster... Hmmm. We may have to consider that closely. :) I was thinking quartermaster might be good for Dantes. You know, better than being in charge of the rigging and such.
WhtKnt |
One thing that needs to be said is that I have decided to use the rules in Razor Coast: Fire as She Bears for ship-to-ship combat and such. If you don't have this resource, don't worry, I'll explain the important stuff when the time comes. That said...
Typical Officer Roles:
Master and Commander
1st-6th Lieutenant
Boastswain
Chaplain
Doctor
Engineer
Fire Chief
Gunnery Sergeant
Jailer
Marine Captain
Master-at-Arms
Midshipman
Nurse
Sailing Master/Navigator
Ship's Corporal
Surgeon's Mate
Typical Enlisted Roles:
Able Seaman
Armorer
Armorer's Mate
Barber
Boatswain's Mate
Botanist
Botanist's Assistant
Butcher
Cabin Boy
Carpenter
Carpenter's Mate
Clerk
Cook
Cooper
Coxswain
Fireman
Foreman
Gunner
Gunner's Mate
Gunsmith
Helmsman
Landsmen
Logbook Keeper
Lookout
Master's Mate
Medic
Nurse
Oarsman
Powder Monkey
Purser
Quartermaster
Quartermaster's Mate
Rigger
Ropemaker
Sailmaker
Seaman
Steward
Stoker
Swabby
Tailor
Note that not all vessels will fill all of these positions, especially on a pirate vessel. Or, multiple individuals may fill multiple roles. If your ship does not have an engine, for example, then the positions of engineer and stoker are unnecessary. Likewise, if your vessel does not have cannon, then you don't need powder monkeys.
Wait, cannon?
Yes, in the FaSB rules, cannon are available. This is not a part of the Skull & Shackles adventure path, but I am willing to include them if the PCs want them. However, cannon are expensive and require a LOT of crew (not to mention ammo and powder). I leave the decision to use cannon up to the players, but if you don't have them, then neither will the bad guys.
Satinder Morne |
I would like to avoid gunpowder in general, but that's just me.
Not really into it, even though it fits the pirate theme well.
Satinder will be using hand crossbows (statistics) as "gun", if you don't mind? None of that touch attack though.
Dantes Goldforge |
I don't necessarily see a need to delve into gunpowder weapons. Though if a player or two are really excited about the prospect I would be fine with it.
Once we have a ship, it will be interesting to see what roles we really need and how we can break them out. Dantes might also be good for navigation, but we'll have to see what skills are required.
WhtKnt |
Yes, I just got sidetracked is all. Will try to post a move at some point tomorrow.
Satinder Morne |
Probably busy weekend or something.
Let's just do our turn twice, and win this thing before they get to act ;)
WhtKnt |
Yes, very busy weekend. July 4th is a holiday here in the U.S. Let me add the crabs to the map (which I should have done before now)... okay, that's better.
Satinder Morne |
Aren't you glad us Belgians sent your soccer team home in time? ;)
Dantes Goldforge |
A vorpal greatsword would be nice, but I've always wanted a wizard (diviner: foresight) with a +5 vorpal dagger. If you need a 20 to decapitate, then why not a wizard? Foresight gives you a second chance to get that 20 you need, three chances if you full attack. Back him up with a Luck domain cleric with Bit o' Luck, and you could get six chances to roll that magic 20. I just like the image of a wizard taking off the head of an elder wyrm red dragon with a dagger. Bonus points if the wizard is a halfling.
Satinder Morne |
Why, Chum?
Coz in my players' Kingmaker, the baron/fighter actually claimed it when they found it.
He has been putting skillpoints in every know.skill ever since, because he reads so many books during his night shifts. :D
WhtKnt |
You will find that food and water are not so much a worry in this AP. I can certainly amp up the tension a little and make it more of a concern, if you wish, but by default, they don't pay too much attention to it.
Chumtooth |
Not actually a gripe about the adventure path, just musing really. If we were marooned here, though, I wouldn't be surprised if someone 'accidently' killed Chumtooth in his sleep and the party ate him FIRST. *chuckle*
I'm looking forward to fighting some grindylows. Freeeesssshhhhh meat!
Satinder Morne |
Funny :D
Let's kill the cannibal first and eat him, before he does it to us ;)
WhtKnt |
Hi, gang. I will be at GenCon from Wednesday until Monday, so we'll be on hold for that period. I will try to get one more move in before leaving, but no promises.
Satinder Morne |
Going on holiday till Sunday.
Bot me if you need to (if I'm a player).
Roleplay without me if you want to (if I'm the dm).
:)
Satinder Morne |
Poke!
Satinder Morne |
Perfect. The dm was pressganged at his Con? :D
WhtKnt |
Nah, the DM was press ganged by illness. I have hypersomnia, which causes me to fall asleep during the day, even when I have had a good night's rest.
Satinder Morne |
Oh, like the opposite of insomnia?
That must be tricky to live with... Do you have to be careful not to like fall down, or do you feel it coming up?
Ayaki Kitsune |
GM, players, everyone, for the next several weeks, it is going to be an extremely stressful time for me, I am in the process of moving and I have some real life things to deal with at this point. I am going to continue to play in all the games that I am currently in, so GM's please feel free and GMPC me till I return. I will have no internet expect what is at work for a while so it might be hard to post even at that.
I will make sure to keep up with what is going on in the game.
If anyone has a problem with this please PM me and I will deal with it that way.
Thank you
WhtKnt |
I feel it coming on and can fight it, but sometimes the urge overpowers me and I doze off. If I'm active, the urge is easier to resist. It hits when I am inactive for a period of time, like watching TV, browsing the Internet, answering posts, driving...
Problem is, I was working a desk job, so I often fell asleep at work, which is what got me terminated from the job. I am currently trying to get doctors to identify me as having this disorder so that I can get disability (as it makes driving and working a job very tricky).
Ayaki, I'll GMPC you until you return. Good luck and be safe.
Satinder Morne |
Sounds like it's really difficult, especially for a desk job indeed. Never had a certificate from a doctor or anything?
WhtKnt |
No. It started about three years ago, but has grown progressively worse.
Ayaki Kitsune |
So as of Friday I will be able to post again, I will have my computer back on line after the move and everything so I should be able to post again starting then for sure ( I'll try to keep everyone updated if something goes on, but I have time at work this morning to post this at least )
WhtKnt |
At a convention until Sunday night, will update at that time.
WhtKnt |
Sorry, things got out of control after the con. Will update tomorrow.
WhtKnt |
Apologies for the delay. Been ill. Will post tonight.
Satinder Morne |
Apologies here aswell, life.. got the better of me :-)
WhtKnt |
Going on vacation from tomorrow (Nov 3) to Nov 16. May be able to post, may not. Will try to make at least one update during that time, if not more.
Satinder Morne |
Roger, have fun!
WhtKnt |
I'm back and will have a new move posted at some point today. Wish I could say that vacation was enjoyable, but it was a bit stressful. Without going into too much detail, it seems that my brother-in-law screwed up and landed himself in jail. Exactly what he did will remain private, but it was severe enough that the end result will be a divorce. In addition, I visited my grandmother's old house (in which I spent many happy years), only to find that the current owners have completely gutted it and changed everything. The garage where I whiled away many an hour in my "secret" fort is falling in. The inside of the house is completely changed, with walls removed, rooms rearranged, etc. Even the town has changed so much as to be nearly unrecognizable (this was my first visit in 25 years). Very disheartening.
Dantes Goldforge |
Wow, any of that would be tough to swallow. To have it all hit you at once is brutal. I hope the rest of your year is a lot better than this last little stretch. Welcome back.
Chumtooth |
Hey guys, is everyone okay?
It's gotten quiet here for nearly a week.
The initiative order says that Bangkha, Alwen, Ayaki, and Dantes still need to go to finish out the round.
Let's fillet this foul, fiendish fish! ;-)
WhtKnt |
Not yet, but pretty close. Was waiting on Alwen, Ayaki, and Dantes, to tell the truth. If they don't post by this evening, I'll ghost them.
