Nighttime action will be sneaking around, looking for the cat. And getting caught. Memorizing Detect Animals for tomorrow, rather than Faerie Fire.

After drinking his rum, Bangkha slips off to look for Cat, but every time he attempts to open a door, it seems there's someone there, looking over his shoulder. After a little while, he heads back to his bunk and asks the deep sea and the night sky to give him the power to find him.

"Well, that's always unpleasant." Alwen chirps up after the keelhauling. It wasn't the first time he'd seen such a display before - not even his first pirate ship he'd served on. Though the last one was a far cry more pleasurable to him.

He downs his rum ration quickly, enjoying the mild buzz he gets from it - it's not something he figures he wants every evening though. Perhaps there was a bit of wine somewhere squirreled away on the ship. But who would he share it with, he wondered?

He decides on the halfling girl that arrived along with the rest of them, humming along with the entertainment going on board as he takes a seat next to her, flashing a bright smile. "So it seems the captain has a fancy for pretty sailors, don't you think? Nabbing you and me, and a fair few others." He compliments her. "Though, there are a couple questionable choices - the last pirate captain I sailed with would have never tried to pressgang someone like him," He points at the scary looking kuru.

"Still, it's not that bad, aside from Mr. Plugg. So long as we look after each other, right?" He widens his grin. "I'm Alwen. Alwen Gaelarean. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, miss...?"

Ayaki
So captivated is the crew watching your dance and singing along that no one notices you dispose of your rum ration over the side.

Chumtooth
Maheem is a tall, dark-skinned human from the Mwangi Expanse. You decide that he would make a good target for intimidation. At first, he seems unmoved, staring deeply back into your eyes without blinking. After a long moment, he blinks and turns away suddenly, stalking off. Those nearby react with the appropriate amount of fear.

Bangkha
Nothing to add. Excellent description of your actions.

Alwen
"Rosie," the halfling lass answers. "My friends call me Rosie. And somehow, I've ended up with the @#$%& epithet of Cusswell." She seems genuinely taken by your charm and smooth talk.

Rosie nods and adds, "I don't think I'd have taken that @#$%& on board, neither. Still, I bet the @#$%& can do the work of four @#$%& men."

Congratulations, you have swayed Rosie's attitude to Helpful!

Male Elf Ranger (Freebooter)/4

"He looks strong, that's for certain," Alwen admits, grinning at Rosie - her epithet suits her well, considering her language. "We should probably take care not to anger him, then. I'd say it's best if we can get along with as many people on this ship as possible - after all, we're stuck with each other for the near future, aren't we?" He comments with a smile.

"Though, I'd really like it if I could get my things back. Especially my shaving kit. This lovely pate doesn't stay smooth on its own, and stubble really itches," He tells her, pulling off his bandana and running his palm across his bare scalp. "I expect the quartermaster must have it. I should pay them a visit tomorrow if I have the time."

Dantes spends most of the day below deck. He only comes above a few times, apparently fetching odds and ends for the cook or disposing of refuse over the side of the ship.

While below, he works diligently, letting Kroop lead most of he discussion as they work.

When the rum comes, Dantes drinks his slowly, trying hard to enjoy it.

Seeing the dark-skinned Other drop his gaze and walk away fills Chumtooth with pride. He pounds his fist firmly once against his chest, and surveys the on-lookers for any sign of challenge.

He gives a throaty chuckle, and takes a seat on the deck, legs crossed, back against the gunnel, and continues to drink his rum.

He turns his attention to the music, and allows it to flow over him.

The Others' music is much better than the chants and drums of home, he thinks to himself.

As darkness falls over the waters, he decides to make his way below, claim a hammock, and rest.

The girl, after being hoisted up to the deck, looks around with a feral spark in her eyes. She eyes the one they call mr Gruff, and reluctantly start doing what he ordered her to do.

It appears it's just a pirate ship, not a slaver one. Good, I guess?
--

During the day Satinder seems to work as good as she can, but is found looking around the ship too much to really excel at her work. She finds her way to the kitchen briefly, and mumbles something about wanting something to eat before returning to work.

Coming back to Chumtooth and her work, she has in her hands a little bit of 'beef' jerky.
"Want some? F#$&ing hate working on an empty stomach, I can tell ya. Last of your kind I ran into had an insatiable appetite, just like me."

Questions for Chumtooth:

I'll just summarize these to make it quicker to answer them, if you want to:
° You been on the ship a long time?
° Who should I look out for?
° Been away from port a long time?

--
At night you can see Satinder turning her cup upside down above her face, and ignoring the men's howls as the rum partially runs down her cleavage and wettens her shirt. Nobody noticed she didn't allow for more than a few drops to actually enter her mouth.
"Oops..." she says as she puts down her cup and smiles seductively.

After the attention of the pirates is on the beautiful woman singing/telling an epic tale, she leaves the bar and tries to find a hammock next to someone who doesn't stink too badly. She however has trouble finding one, as the trip from the bar to the hammock took her past the kitchen. Nobody noticed however, and she goes to sleep with a sharp blade hidden on her body.

Chumtooth grumbles as the female begins speaking with him, but he listens to her questions.

"This female talks much, but Chumtooth will answer. This one is soft, and would break if Chumtooth mounted," he chuckles as if this were a fine joke. "Chumtooth was taken in the night past, with those Others." He points out the other individuals from the Formidably Maid who are visible on deck and in the rigging. "Poisoned drink made Chumtooth and the Others sleep."

"The Others called Plugg and Scourge use whips to make Others work. The Other Captain is dangerous."

"This boat left harbor in the night as we slept."

After anwering her questions, he returns to his work, but he seems visibly relaxed in her presence.

"This "others" thing.. How does Chumtooth know which others Chumtooth's talking about? I mean, if Chumtooth wants to make a difference between those guys over at starboard, and these guys over at port..? Is this a language thing?"

The elf notes that the shipwreck survivor seems to be interested in the kuru - more surprisingly, the kuru wasn't taking the first chance he got to eat her face. For now, the day is done - a new friend has been made, saucy halfling that she was. He finds a decent hammock to doze in below deck, humming a jaunty tune under his breath until he's fast asleep.

You really need to take care of that quickly before inspection, you know - don't want to get any lashes for looking slovenly," He fast-talks, attempting to slip through the blockade in their confusion.

When it comes time for serving meals, he will try to make sure that, when feeding those pressed into service like him, they get as much substance in their stew (or whatever we are cooking) rather than just broth. He takes advantage of every opportunity to get around the ship and start to know its layout; he volunteers to fetch things from stores when needed, and empties waste over the side a little more frequently than is strictly necessary.

A night of natural healing brings him up to 3 hit points.

Still looking for Cat. Not sure where I can/could look. Am/was hoping to use Detect Animal to give some direction on that.

Bangkha grins at Plugg as he scowls, and then blows a kiss at Jape. A few lashes here and there were to be expected on a pirate ship, he thought, but it seemed there was something more going on.

Maybe it's the lingering hangover from the rum, or the adrenaline from fighting, but while he has no trouble with the work today, he finds himself weary by the end of the day. As he drags the rope around the ship, he extends himself magically, searching for his companion.

Alwen shrugs off the hands of the sailors as he moves along, heading for the mainsail duties for today. He's got no problem hauling them up, but it's more tiring today than it was before. There would always be good days and bad days, though.

Really, though, he figured that if he was going to get lashes today anyways, he might as well do something to his own benefit. Seeing as he'd love to get back some of his equipment, he goes to visit the quartermaster's store.

Along the way, he pauses by the half-orc who jumped into the rumble before, speaking to him. "You should have let me take my licks, sailor," He tells him, "But thanks all the same. Hope you don't regret it."

Satinder is cursing the whole time she is down in the bilges, screaming her lungs out at occasion as she LOATHES cleaning work. The rats down there aren't exactly helping either, and she finds wishing she could kill them, but it would just take time away from her work.

At least she uses her time down below wisely, trying to find anything valuable someone might have dropped in the bilges. The murky water may hold secrets, who knows.

Bangkha looks at Alwen and snorts.

"And miss a chance to get blood on my knuckles? Pick your fights more quietly next time, if you want to keep the fun to yourself." He glances around, seeing if anyone's eavesdropping, and then adds in a low voice. "Any reason the mate has it in for you? Didn't sound like Fipps was expecting to get whipped for this little game."

morning conversation with Satinder:

Realizing her complete misunderstanding of his last statement, Chumtooth bursts in to frightening guffaw. He shakes his head at the woman's gestures.

[I]"Teeth," he says slowly, drawing his lips back in a rictus grin.

@Bangkha:
"He probably doesn't think I should be enjoying getting pressganged into this crew. Thinks that I should fear him," Alwen replies with a very dangerous smile. "Compared to the last crew I worked for, this is a pleasure cruise."

Quartermaster's:
The elf walks in and grins at the quartermaster. "Good day to you," He greets her. Alwen lightly made his way closer to the half-orc, waggling his eyebrows. "I know you must be a busy woman, with such an important job as this, but I was really hoping that you might find it in your heart to return my things to me," He asks her. "Not that I can't function without them, but I do at least prefer to keep myself well groomed, as any Calistrian should. You might be able to appreciate the eye candy, at least. Perhaps up close and personal, one night you feel the chill in your hammock?"

Maps: Car. Crown || Skull & Shackles

Chumtooth:
The ship's hold is largely the domain of Kroop, but tucked away in a corner of the hold, you find the quartermaster's shop, under the watchful eye of Cut-Throat Grok, the half-orc quartermaster (at least until early afternoon). Towards the aft, however, you find a large fellow chained to the mast. He has a shaven head and shows signs of having been tarred and feathered not long ago. The only other things of interest here are a number of animal pens holding pigs, chickens, and, of all things, a great, spotted cat. Three goats wander freely through the chamber.

Bangkha:
You finally find Cat, deep within the hold, penned up alongside a number of chickens and pigs. She is thoroughly seasick and miserable, but otherwise none the worse for wear. Her cage is securely locked and is ringed with steel bars. Kroop, the ship's cook, sees you near he cage and says, "Beauty, inn't she? Captain don't know what ta do with 'er. They found 'er wanderin' 'round the waterin' hole where we picked up the new swabs. Say, yer one o' them, ain'tcha?"

Alwen and Ayaki:
You both arrive at Grok's store at roughly the same time. The half-orc notices you and says, "Can I be helpin' you?" When Alwen makes his request, she replies, "Everythin' here belongs to Captain Harrigan, by right of salvage. However, he has given us permission to sell it for a fair price." When Ayaki speaks up, she says, "Bagpipes, eh? Just so happens that I have a set here. Now, what would you figure these're worth?"

Please ma'am, these bagpipes are worth nothing to the captain and nothing to you. I beg just this once, please let me part with my bagpipes, I promise you that I will not say a word to anyone or anyhow I got them back.

If you help me get my pipes I will be forever in your debt my sir. I have to get these back as much as you seem to need your shaving kit.

Bagpipes. Alwen stared at Ayaki incredulously, recalling that she'd come to his assistance previously. She was pretty cute as well. The problem was that it seemed that Grok was immune to his charms, which meant it was necessary to barter, and he didn't have anything to barter with aside from his talents right now. Seemed like he was going to need to scrounge around the ship.

"Unfortunately, you've heard her now. Can't get them back unless you trade her something in return. Funny how that is, right?" He chuckles before starting to leave. He'd have to see how he felt after his lashings in order to find anything of value on this ship he could use to get his own stuff back. Maybe in the kitchen, or down in the hold.

Out of earshot of Ayaki, he mutters to himself. "Bagpipes...of all instruments, she had to play that one..."
