Rez Cleftear |
Rez thinks back to the gala if he noticed anyone who met the description.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
He hates to admit it, but perhaps he had one drink too many while attempting to schmooze with the others. His memory is a little fuzzy.
Chetna Wavari |
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
I'm throwing away whatever server is in charge of these pseudo-random numbers I'm getting.
"I don't remember anyone like that. It was probably during the time when I was making a fool out of myself."
Moxie Moon |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Alright, no one remembers seeing her, so we'll have to go back into the gala and look for for her. I still think we should split up. Me, Culper and Chetna should look for the assassin and try to distract her. Rez, Eevee, and Vegoia should go off and look for the bomb. I'm thinking Vegoia should go with the bomb squad because she could probably just smash the bomb in her bare hands."
"I think we're going to need code names for our teams. I vote that our team's code name be "Sparkle Pony." Also, I think we should have some kind of signal to let the other team know we found our target. Something we could just text to each other's comm links."
GM Tyranius |
Just to give you an idea on what skills might be useful. In order to not be noticed by Triloteya (Assassin), you must attempt a Bluff or Stealth check prior to making a Perception check to find a bomb and prior to making an attempt to disarm a bomb (via Engineering or by hitting it with something) or someone else does something to distract Triloteya's attention.
Eevee Kerbouchard |
Eevee thinks for a bit. "I'm sly. I don't know how to diffuse a bomb, but I do know how to smash something. I've got sharp eyes. I'll work the bombs."
Rez Cleftear |
I'm used to working in the shadows. I can likely look for the bombs while keeping out of view." Rez looks up at the rest of the group, and stretches his arms to the ceiling. "At a towering three-foot-nothing, I'm out of most people's sight in a crowd."
Chetna Wavari |
"AV setup? Bugger. She could go anywhere with that access. I'm okay enough with tech that I might be able to disable one of those things and I should be able go to by unnoticed. Let's just hope my favor with Desna has changed. She's a horrible mistress at times."
GM Tyranius |
The AV booth overlooks the Skyreach Room through a wide window of transparent aluminum. The window and the booth alike are hidden from view by means of a one-way holographic projector to appear no different from the other walls around the room, though viewers within the AV booth can see into the room unobstructed. The booth is also soundproofed, so even rather loud sounds are not heard within the Skyreach Room while the window is closed. A control panel within the AV booth (identifiable with a successful DC 15 Computers, Engineering, or Perception check) controls both the hologram and the window, which can be opened to allow passage, line of sight, and line of effect between the Skyreach Room and the booth. This control panel can be accessed remotely.
There are several-dozen guests present at the gala, in addition to Luwazi and the dignitaries you interacted with earlier, and a dozen or so service staff, most of whom are handling the food, drinks, and dishes for the event.
Eevee Kerbouchard |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 "Nope. I don't see her... him... whichever."
Rez Cleftear |
Rez scours the room.
Perception, taking 10: 10 + 5 = 15
Moxie Moon |
Moxie scans the room for the assassin. perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
GM Tyranius |
The Assassin's location is in the Dc 15 Perception spoiler above.
Moxie Moon |
"I think me and Culper should be able to distract her long enough for everyone else to deal with that bomb. We could go up there saying that there were a bunch of sound and lighting changes because there were some last minute program changes. We'll think of something."
Moxie begins heading up to the AV booth.
Rez Cleftear |
Rez will get to scouring the crowded room for explosive devices. (... and making whatever necessary checks once prompted to do so.)
GM Tyranius |
Moxie and Culper branch off from the group and begin heading up to the AV Booth.
Eevee Kerbouchard |
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
If Eevee finds a bomb, she'll point it out. Subtlety and spotting she can do, damage isn't her strong suit.
Moxie Moon |
"Oh honey, we could do better than that." Moxie smiles and pulls out her disguise kit. "How about a quick makeover?
If Culper consents Disguise: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Moxie activates her holographic projector and her voice becomes quite a bit different. She transforms into a muscular middle aged half orc with a receding hair line and a slight beer gut. She smiles and holds out her hand to Culper. "Eh, buddy. Name's Roy Casuro. Please'd 'ta meet ya!
Disguise: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
"Alright, let's go up there. Culper, I'll follow your lead."
Culper Vitros |
Culper looks at the kit, then shrugs. "Do your worst."
"Nice! You've got a way with this stuff!" Culper now looks slightly shiny, with slicked back hair, glitter makeup covering his face and hands and ruby red glasses on his face.
He opens the door and struts inside. "DARLINGS! Who here is in charge of the lighting and sound? I SIMPLY MUST meet them! Oh how the lights play with the concept of shadow and shade! Oh how they SPARKLE, DARLING! Who am I to simply WORSHIP for this?"
Chetna Wavari |
Bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Chetna walks, looking around the room, smiling and nodding at people while actually attempting to look for the bombs.
Rez Cleftear |
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Rez sticks to the outside of the room and looks for anything out of the ordinary.
GM Tyranius |
Eevee moves through the crowd and spots something strange on the corner of the stage platform. Just underneath looks to be one of the bombs!
Moving to the opposite side of the stage Chetna is able to locate a second of the explosives, Rez doesn't seem to find much more than a few appetizers as a waiter blocks his path offering him some sort of delicacy.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Seeing Culper barge into the room the woman hurries over, holding her hands out to escort Culper from the room. "You can't be in here I am afraid."

"DARLING, of course I can't! But I SIMPLY MUST meet the person responsible for the art in there! Such light! Such SHADING! Much wow! I MUST meet this artiste! Are you HER? DID YOU CREATE THIS ART?" Culper lets out a high pitched squeal of delight. He grabs the woman's art and pumps it enthusiastically.
Moxie Moon |
"Roy" comes into the room at shortly after Culper. He's chewing gum, smacking it loudly. He steps forward, holding his hand out to teh suspected assassin. "Hey, ah'm Roy. Ah'm from maintenance. Bonificiao here's the artist and I'm more the technical side. They asked us to come up here to make some last minute changes. You know how they are, those rich folk can't ever keep their minds made up."
Don't know if we are better off rolling separate checks or aiding. Moxie is genuinely interested in letting Culper lead this and is interested in supporting him, so I will consider this an aid other if possible.
Bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Moxie is also scanning the room and the assassin for any signs of an activation device. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Eevee Kerbouchard |
Are we in timed rounds? Eevee will keep looking. Once there are 5 found, she'll switch to helping break them, but if the other operatives can use Engineering, that's preferable.
Rez Cleftear |
Rez has a +8 to Engineering, so he might be of some help there. Just waiting to see if there's any occurrences between rounds.
Leif Mac Adaim |
i have a pike to stab them with if it comes to that
GM Tyranius |
Normally there would be an occurrence but the Assassin is currently being distracted. If the assassin were not distracted then she would have the opportunity to catch you disarming the explosives and blow them in place. The rounds aren't so much timed but there just to keep the flow.
@Chetna- Need an Engineering or Disable Device check.
Moxie and Culper continue their ruse that they are there to fix the audio equipment. The woman sighs in exasperation. "Just...just make it quick and get out of here." She points towards the panel. "how long is this going to take?"
[spoiler=Bomb Squad]
Vegoia skulks around the room, hiding behind fake plants and tables, though he is unable to locate any additional bombs.

Eevee continues to inconspiculously look for devices, pointing them out to the more mechanically inclined Starfinder agents:

[ooc]Round 2 Checks:[ooc]
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Rez keeps on the lookout for more explosive devices.
Moxie Moon |
Remember, we were told that we can disarm the bombs simply by smashing really hard. That makes Vegoia one of our best "disarmers"
"Let's see, I think I should check and make sure the spot lights are calibrated correctly."
While Culper continues distracting Sanivvi, Moxie starts punching some of the controls at random. "Shoot, somebody was messing with this. I'm going to get everything set back to where its supposed to be."
Computers: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Aid:Bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Chetna Wavari |
Whoops. Bonus is the same for Engineering if I can just use that last roll.
Bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Again, feigning at some mingling and being aloof within the crowd, Chetna looks for another bomb.
Engineering: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Vegoia |
vegoia will take the one that Eevee found leave the Gala and set it on the ground preparing to stab it with her pike
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
GM Tyranius |
Eevee skulks about and finds a third explosive. Vegoia comes nearby and begins to pry it loose with her pike. It does a little bit of damage. Though it might take a bit longer to disassemble. Hardness 5
Chetna works at just disabling the explosive rather that destroying it. She clips a wrong wire and the brick of explosives begins to hum as if it were going to explode soon. Quickly striping the wire Chetna twists it back together. Any lower and it would have exploded.
Rez slowly makes his way around the room but doesn't find anything further.
Catching on to what you are doing Zo! takes to the stage. "The Starfinders truly do recruit the best and the most talented around. Now, imagine if you will, a show--broadcast across the Pact Worlds and beyond--following the daily exploits of these brave adventurers!" he begins, his voice rising to a ridiculous pitch and his lipless mouth moving in excitement.
Vegoia notices a small isopod that resembles Ykris scuttle under the stage.
A waiter delivers a drink with a napkin to Rez and leaves before the ysoki can protest or register his confusion.
Whatever you're doing, you should try harder to not be so obvious. --177
Between Moxie, Culper and Zo!'s distractions you don't need to make Stealth Bluff checks for a short period.

"Dammit! Be subtle!" Does anyone have a bigger melee weapon? If I don't have to be subtle, I can help destroy the ones we've found.
Rez Cleftear |
Rez silently curses the situation. Am I getting rusty? I thought I wasn't drawing that much attention...
Instead of looking for the devices (which apparently is arousing some suspicion), the ysoki will casually stroll over to one of the planted devices and see if he can disable it.
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Engineering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Whelp, so much for not drawing attention to myself... :P
