Garret C. |
[ooc]I think Tyranious had already started an encounter, and if we need to keep pace we should post. If only to be applied once the Slave Pens opens[/b]
I think they're mistaken us for their serpentfolk slaver. No idea how, as we're very different from them. We should make them clear we're not a risk for them.
After saying that, Garret slowly sheathes his morningstar taking care of not make any threatening movement, them he staps to a side and extends an arm, with a gesture similar to what one do as he opens the door from another person. Let's hope that meant the same in the era we're now
He also start repiting "We are friends" in all the languages he know, starting with the ones he hopes had change the less; celestial, draconic and infernal.
GM Tyranius |
This whole exploration is broken down into regions. The lower level is the Zoological Gardens. The middle level is the Slave Pens. The upper eastern portion is the Temple Plaza and the upper western building is the Temple Interior. In the beginning the Zoological Gardens and Temple Plaza were the only accessible areas, though the temple Plaza was unaccessible unless everyone could fly so went to the Gardens. Now the Pathfinders have discovered the Slave pens which lead into the plaza. Though to get from one region to the next you have to follow the path which leads to encounters. Once an area is 'controlled' you are able to pass through unmolested. Thus I pushed into the Slave Pens as that is your only route at the moment. hope this kind of clears up how this works anyways.
Go ahead and RP out the dino fight, heal as needed and then post for this beginning portion of the Slave Pens.
Cadaeacus |
Cadaeacus uses his wand to mend his and Kintampo's wounds.
Just to save some time, GM ok with each wand use healing 5HP? If so, then a total of 7 charges will take care of both of us!
He looks over the dinosaur, taking care to add what details he can.
Kn: Nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
His memory is a bit off, so he taps himself, trying to remember exactly how it moved and attacked.
Recall reroll for Kn: Nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Satisfied with his notes, he quietly tucks them into his pack. I am ready when you are, following the group towards the Slave Pens.
When the woman approaches and speaks to them, Cadaeacus looks to the others. "Do you know what she speaks?"
GM Tyranius |
yea- average is fine.
Cadaeacus successfully is able to render and understand the creatures anatomy with enough to bring back to the Society earning another success for the Pathfinders.
Back with the woman. She seems to understand Draconic quite well with Garret as she snaps her hand to her chest. "Friend."
Garret give me a diplomacy roll.
Garret C. |
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Garret continues talking in Draconic, pausing now and then to translate for his friends. We're not here for you, but if you're fighting against the lizardfolk we're on the same boat as they have just tried to kill us.
Can we just let each other go whatever he wants without unnecesary fighting?
Kintampo |
"Thank you for the healing Cadaeacus. I have a wand that was made with the blood of devils, but your healing feels better."
Kintampo wait while Garret is talking to the humans "You seem to be doing a fine job making them at ease." he comments after the cleric has translated a part of the discussion.
GM Tyranius |
The woman relaxes a bit and introduces herself as Uszanriar. Our Commander Krahnaliara Lac Suhn, was dragged away by the priests only an hour earlier. I believe that he is now somewhere within their temple and need to try and get him out. She lowers her club and smiles. It has been a long time since I have seen a friendly face.
Seeing that the Pathfinders mean them no harm the rest of the slaves celebrate and provides a much needed morale boost to the beleaguered soldiers which will surely aid in the rebellion.
GM Tyranius |
Beyond the zoological gardens are the serpentfolk slave pens, mostly occupied by sickly, depressed human captives. Recently captured Azlanti prisoners, however, have begun stirring up trouble, and a slave revolt is just beginning as the Pathfinders arrive.
You move further down the caverns. Claustrophobic cells line the walls here, many crowded with three or four miserable-looking humans. The halls converge on a hewn-stone chamber lit with braziers and choked with herb-scented smoke.
A specialized caste of serpentfolk focus on training and breaking mammalian servants with the aid of their favored thralls: a client tribe of troglodytes know as the Aggrieved Fallows. These troglodytes handle the disgusting work of cleaning, tending, and disciplining
the other captives. Much the of the work of breaking human wills is left to serpentfolk enchanters, who warp their charges’ minds for month using enchantments, illusions, and venom, until their humans have no single reality to cling to save for what their reptilian masters
dictate to be true. The few serpentfolk here are familiar with and inured to the troglodytes’ stench.
A small group of troglodytes and a hulking reptilian that bristles with twitching vestigial limbs, milk white eyes, and drooling half-formed mouths stands in front of a cell full of broken slaves. The creatures oversized maw is filled with curved teeth reminiscent of sickle blades.
Cadaeacus: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Slaugrak: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Troglodytes: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
The troglodytes stench is overwhelming as it fills your head making you dizzy beyond belief and very nauseous.

No worries. It just made a difference in what spell I cast. If they were still injured i was going with crowd control. But at full strength, this is an opportune time to drop a fireball.
"Inferno!" Ghrezzd shouts as an explosion of fire and flame engulf the troglodytes and the lizard monster.
I should be able to hit all three of them and not touch us. I'll use alchemist's fire as a material component on a Fireball. Any of them failing the reflex save are on fire.

Cadaeacus will send out magic missiles to finish off those softened by Ghrezzed's blast.
I'll send 1 MM at each trog if they are both standing, both to 1 if only 1 stands, or both to the monster if both trog's are dead.
MM 1: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
MM 2: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Ghreezd unleashes a massive fireball into the room. The flames quickly wash over the troglodytes and other reptilian creatures. A chorus of screams emanate from within the cells as the slaves quickly burn and fall to the ground.

The reptilian creature seems to resist a vast majority of the flames while Cadaeacus pelts each of the troglodytes with a magical missile. The yellow troglodyte looks as if it is nearly going to fall over at any moment as it's eyes roll about in its head.

Kintampo |
Kintampo slides his hands over his staff. One end of the staff is wreathed in sparkly flames. Unfortunately no one can see them. He then casts a spell and disappears completely! Cautiously he steps forward into the darkness.
Swift to spend arcane point for flaming and shocking on staff. Standard to cast vanish. Move to move 15 feet straight ahead. I assume I know where the lizard is before it made the darkness.

Cadaeacus brings forth his innate energies, the light shining forth from his pale skin.
Using my Daylight SLA, which shoulder negate the deeper darkness effect within 20' of me.
"May knowledge shine forth through the darkness."
Tyranius |
Ghreezd quickly counters the overwhelming darkness as his staff shines with the brightness of a small star. Cadaeacus does what he can to help as his pale skin also begins to illuminate with a pale glow.
Kintampo sheathes his staff in magical energy as he vanishes from sight and glides forward. The troglodytes rush forward and batter at Garret and Cadaeacus with their clubs.

Yup- That is fine.
Cadaeacus and Ghreezd are both sickened by the stench of the troglodytes. Now that Cadaeacus can get a better look at the creature he realizes that he has neither seen nor heard of one of them before and has little idea of what it might actually be capable of. Was Knowledge Planes.

Then he stumbles to flank with Cadaeacus, even if that means risk being attacked by the troglodity and tries to deliver a blow despite how is feeling. Asuming Cadaeacus has a weapon to help with flank, if not I'll make a 5steep and avoid an AoO
cold iron morningstar, sickened, bull's strengh, flank: 1d20 + 6 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 201d8 + 2 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 - 2 + 2 = 9

Huzzah! Much more effective than double daylight. And that damage roll is like what my Bonekeep rolls were like; nice roll!
GM Tyranius |
Garret rushes into a flanking position against the troglodyte and crushes its head in with his morningstar. The smaller lizard collapses. bleeding to the ground.
With the light somewhat stabilized in the room Ghreezd hurls packed ice at the hulking lizard. The creature's tough scales resist a good portion of the cold ice. Resistant to cold.
Unaware of Kintampo's presence the lizard brute skitters in towards and bites at Cadaeacus.

The Pathfinders have worked their way through the Temple Interior, and have discovered that the serpentfolk are performing some kind of ritual in a basement level called the Ophidian Rectory. Perhaps if you rush there you can learn all about the serpentfolk's ancient sacrificial techniques.

Oh, also potential save some people. That could be important too.
The Temple Interior is now claimed and the Ophidian Rectory is now discovered! Can we stop the ritual in time? The map is now updated with both the district unlock and the recent aid token transfers. Remember, you still count as one subtier higher for the purpose of your aid token benefits!
Garret C. |
Wait for me Kintampo! Shouts Garret. Then he runs to the other side of the creature, risking again to be attacked, but also flanking with Cadaeacus and giving Kintampo a clear spot to flank with him.
Cold iron morningstar, sickened, bull's strengh, flank: 1d20 + 6 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 171d8 + 2 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 - 2 + 2 = 9

@Cadaeacus- Did you already move on the map? I ask cause if you did the creature has 10 foot reach and would get an AoO for your spell. Which may affect if the MM went off.
Cadaeacus |
It's from the staff (which isn't like a normal staff with charges), so I thought that it's a magic item command action which doesn't provoke. If I am wrong, then may I use add a concentration check cast defensively
Concentration if allowed: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
GM Tyranius |
Yup. You are right. That is my fault. No need for a concentration check and no AoO.
Ghrezzd |
Grezzd takes a 5' step towards the beast then instantly shifts another 15' through a arcane portal. Raising his right hand and pointing at the beast, he fires 3 force missiles, striking the beast in the torso.
Move action: 5' step; Swift action: Shift 15'; Standard action: Magic Missile.

Spell combat sounds better before knowing the creature resistances...Now you can flank with a 5steep and let Cadaeacus to cover behind you.
Garret steps foward to continue attacking the creature.
Cold iron morningstar, sickened, bull's strengh, flank: 1d20 + 6 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 261d8 + 2 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 - 2 + 2 = 9 I hope that means some damage
Cadaeacus |
Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 Whew!
Cadaeacus steps back, then channels energy from his glowing body to the party, giving them a chance to change their fates in the process.
And excluding mean monster
Channel Energy: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3) = 10
Everyone can reroll a d20 within 5 rolls
Ghrezzd |
Ghrezzd's AC is currently 18 with Mage Armor. Do those still hit? Sorry, I keep the Mage Armor listed at the end of the AC block.
Knowledge roll to determine what the creature is. Dungeoneering and Nature get an additional +1. Arcana gets and additional +4
Knowledge: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Kintampo |
GM, please note that the shock damage from my shocking grasp should hit on the second strike (I keep the charge if I miss). My apologies that I did not roll it seperately from the shocking staff. It is 14 damage (first or last 5 dice of the 6d6), which gets added to the 4 of the staff on the second strike. So second strike had 18 shock damage, of which I hope something comes through.
"Brute force it is" Kintampo says when he notices that the beast is not reacting to his shocking and flaming strike. He steps around the beast, flanking with Garret.
Spend arcane point to change staff to +3 (overcomes DR cold iron or silver)
He concentrates for a second, casting Arcane Mark and swings his staff twice.

GM Tyranius |
@Kintampo- Yes if it was 18 damage then 8 will go through.
@Ghreezd- Ok. Hp is corrected as it will not hit with mage armor.
After much thinking Ghreezd recognizes the creature as a Slaugrak. You get a total of two questions
Cadaeacus' body begins to cool down as it fights off the vicious infection within. He realeases a wave of healing energy to all in the room.
With his staff charged Kintampo and garret quickly realize that cold iron is quite effective against it and pummel the creature into the ground.
Once the Pathfinders defeat the serpentfolk and their servants, they can attempt to interview the slaves about the less glamorous aspects of serpentfolk society.
