Oh crap. Looks like they're going to try to have a nice chat with a couple of Aespis thugs. This can't end well, but you just got to let them try.

If he can get off a spell before they notice him or from behind a pylon, he will cast a Bull's Strength on himself. It will last 5 minutes. If things go well the spell will be wasted. If not, then he'll be ready for the fallout.

Zora looks rather bemused when Isabel starts towards the sailors here in this surreptitious below-docks hideout that is, to her thinking, some sort of smuggler's affair, accessible only by those in the know. She doubts they will receive a welcome, as intruders, no matter how sweetly they try and talk. But the die is cast. She follows about thirty feet behind Isabel, using her spear as an impromptu staff on the slippery old docks, watching closely.

The man smiles at Lady Isabel. Look I wanna help you. I really do but, If I get caught they will string me up by my ankles. Looking back to make sure the door is still shut he quietly opens a shelf and grabs a pass.

Turning he opens the door. Hey Fred, They got their pass right here. I'll get em set up and they will be off in a couple of minutes.

Shutting the door the man begins to fill out a bit of paperwork.

Having a few minutes Isabel looks around. On the wall of the bunker is a chalkboard with a chart labeled with 20 numbers, each followed by a set of initials. One side of the chart reads mooring, the other side reads ship. Pinned to the adjacent wall hangs a map of the outer harbor marking the locations of the numbered moorings. The initials next to #14 read “HF”. The map shows mooring 14 located in the northwestern part of the outer harbor. In addition, a leather bound manifest log details the comings and goings of hundreds of ships over the past few months in a similar simplified code of numerals and letters.

With the paperwork filled out he hands Isabel the pass and shows her where the Hydra's Fang is docked on on the map.

Exiting the Underdocks, you enter the Shallows, a wide rocky bay only a few feet deep and closed off by immense seawalls that funnel all traffic into the maze. Strung between them, a host of steep maze walls crusted with seaweed, barnacles, and small shellfish create narrow passages just wide enough for rowboats or rafts. Lashed along the sides are free-floating docks which allow longshoremen to help pull boats through or to the side for quick inspections. Every so often, a series of rusted spikes forms a crude ladder leading to the upper maze, where guards keep watch amidst strange shadows cast by weathered devices such as giant winches and claw-like crane arms. Water splashes softly throughout, creating an eerie echo, and the entire structure groans with ominous creaks and strains as if you were traveling through the belly of a great beast. Thankfully, navigating out of the maze is far easier than navigating in, and the ever-watchful eyes of Enforcers on the walls fall almost entirely on the cargos of incoming merchants.

As you draw closer to the end, the sounds of angry waves slam against the outer walls and echo like hordes of chanting goblins. As you reach the outer locks, a grizzled longshoreman calls down to you from above, telling you to hold tight. The first gate opens with a lazy moan, and he ushers you to move your craft into the small chamber ahead. Once inside, he lowers the gate behind you, then he bids you good luck as he slowly cranks apart the front doors to the open harbor where dozens of galleons and merchant ships bounce softly on their moorings in the water.

I did too. I figured if I missed my swim roll it would speed things up when it got to my turn. Speaking of which, what CAN you do while drowning? I expect I could start divesting myself of my armor though Plate Mail takes a VERY LONG TIME. Dumping the shield won't help all that much.

As the boat flips milly springs to the air!

Fly: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 And vash tries to swim!

Swim: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 - 2 = 20 He then calls Milly over and climbs on to her back.

Ride: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Since im not going for a fast mount i think that the DC is ten and a standard action. Vash is flying.

I want to say that these swim checks are a move action if you fail. I could be wrong but that is what we will roll with. So you still have a standard action you can do.

Swimming about Vash calls Milly over and climbs onto her back as best as he can to get out of the water as the Sahuagin dart about attacking from below the water.

Time to sink- Swim check: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (17) - 3 = 14 Holy crap I'm not sinking!

So, with my first swim check not in drowning-land, at least, what are my options? Because with that penalty I'd really prefer to use my standard to climb back into the boat, if that's at all possible. If it's not because the boat is capsized, then what is your ruling on casting from scrolls while in the water? (I have a scroll of air bubble on my person.)

@Zora ... I assume that having had one of the beasties attack you, you could use your standard action to counter attack still? Or you could try another swim check to see if you can move half movement toward the capsized boat which looks close but not adjacent to us?

Here is the official rules for underwater combat. How it affects all of your weapons and spells.

As for the boat. Lets make it the same DC it too to flip it down to flip it back onto it's correct side to be able to climb back into. DC 15 Str check. Though you have to get back to the boat first.

@Vash- Correct they are all underwater

Swim Rules:
Make a DC 15 (Rough Water) Swim check once per round while you are in the water. Success means you may swim at up to half your speed (as a full-round action) or at a quarter of your speed (as a move action). If you fail by 4 or less, you make no progress. If you fail by 5 or more, you go underwater.

Warpac silently prays to Desna as he sinks in the water. Will his prayers be answered?

Blessing of luck is like fortune correct. Roll twice and take higher result?

Roscoe's body quickly begins to elongate and grow scaly. His bones contort and twist violently as he transforms into a living and breathing crocodile that is easily able to swim in the water.

George makes it over to the capsized boat and clings on for dear life. The lions eyes are wide with confusion from being dimped into the ocean's churning waters.

Evan continues to flounder around underwater as he draws a wand.

That is correct.

Lucky Presence (minor): At 1st level, you can touch an ally and grant it a lucky presence. The target of this luck can call upon it to roll any one ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check twice and take the better result. The decision to use this benefit must be declared before the roll is made. Once used, or once 1 minute passes, the effect ends.

Taking my untaken standard

Zora manages to keep mostly afloat despite her fairly heavy armor and gear. She treads water with a determined intensity, her grey robes billowing in the water and further threatening to drag her down. All the same she doesn't cry out or look alarmed. She fumbles her scroll box loose of her belt and gets it above water, dropping her spear to be lost in the waves below as she tries to get a scroll out without the water ruining the parchment.

using standard as a move action to draw a scroll from a scroll box (which is a watertight container). Probably this is going to provoke twice, if yellow and green are threatening me.
