GM Turmoil |
This will kick off on Monday Oct 10. Sign up will be first come first served.
I tend to run my games a little on the fast side and they usually go 3-4 weeks depending on participation. With that being said, I do ask that you post once a day, but if you can post more than that, even better! I understand that everyone has to adult too, so I'm not going to be strict about it, but I will bot you if it's been a couple days.
My plan is to follow this up with scenario 7-05 School of Spirits, which is the sequel to this one and I would prefer everyone to commit to both. That scenario probably won't be able to get finished as part of Game Day, however.
Kelumur |
i'm in! I have a rogue raring to go!
Character:Kelumur, half orc UC rogue 2
Pfs id:222036-5
I've not used this guy on PbP yet, but i'll update his stats today.
Can i dot on the gameplay thread?
Xuan Fung |
Level 2 aerokineticist here. Have played neither.
Helen Veare |
I have yet to play either of those and would love to join.
Character: Helen Veare - Human Cleric 1
PFS #210381-14
still finalizing her equipment and ill update this character soon.
GM Turmoil |
@ Awenydd83: I have no issues if you want to use a star replay for this. With that new boon open to everyone, I know burning a star isn't as a big of a deal as it used to be.
Alright so here is what it looks like so far.
Kelumur - Rogue 2
Xuan Fung - Aerokineticist 2
Helen Veare - Cleric 1
Awenydd83 - something martial 1
Tundran - ??? 1
Seems like it will low tier. I'm going to give it another day and see if anyone else shows interest. Otherwise, GlennH has showed interest in just Black Waters and Scott Zimmerman for School of Spirits so that's an option.
Mun of Ashava |
I would love to play Mūn in both scenarios if you'll have him. Black Waters would be his 3rd scenario, so he'd level up in between the two.
PFS#: 192785-01
GM Turmoil |
That gives us a full squad then. Here's what I have
Kelumur - Rogue 2
Xuan Fung - Aerokineticist 2
Helen Veare - Cleric 1
Awenydd83 - something martial 1
Tundran - ??? 1
Mun of Ashava - 1 Oracle

GM Turmoil |
I was just informed this afternoon that I have to go to California, starting tomorrow for a week of training. Got to love the Army. I don't expect to have any internet, except for my phone so the game will probably be on hold. I will return on the 4th but I probably won't get any posts up until later that weekend.
This shouldn't impact finishing the game before Game Day is over, we are making good time.
Helen Veare |
have fun, be safe. We will be awaiting your return
Mun of Ashava |
I have an in-person PFS game this weekend, and I need to find a character I can bring. All of my PFS characters are currently in games on these boards. Is there any chance that this game will finish before the 19th? (No problem if not, just exploring my options; I can create a new character too.)
GM Turmoil |
Game Day ends on the 25th though we will probably be done before that. My hope is to be complete before Thanksgiving because I'm sure everyone will be too busy for posting. It also looks like I still need some information from Kelumur, Helen, and Hervey to finish up the chronicles and reporting.

I like to give a brief recap of any unexplained loose ends after I run a scenario, as well as to get any comments on things I could do better as a GM. So feel free to ask any questions and I welcome criticism as well.
I hope you all enjoyed the scenario, to me this is one of the best from Season 0, and the next one is equally entertaining. Since this is from Season 0, the scenario itself is very short and leaves a lot up for GM interpretation or role play. The entire scenario only takes up 8 pages. The dinner at the beginning with Lady Dacilane is only explained in a short paragraph for example. On top of that, some things are still written for 3.5. The biggest thing I wanted to explain, as I'm sure you're all curious, was the ghost children. They were essentially haunts that were semi-interactive. Deris, the groundskeeper, is actually an old sorcerer, and during the scene in the classroom, is unknowingly controlling the children through a combination of Ventriloquism, Ghost Sound, and Prestidigitation. This is where the scenario is really lacking though, because with only a single casting of each, there is technically no way he would be able to do all of that. If you had tried to banish or turn them, he actually would have fought you as well.
I will have the chronicles up in a bit and I will make the initial posts for the next scenario. Don't feel any pressure to post over the next few days though, we will all be busy with the holidays.

Thanks for running the game! I like the spooky feel of this. Certainly feels different from the other season 0 games I've played. I hope the next is the same. :)
Helen Veare |
Thanks for running, the chronicles look great.
This was the first season 0 game I have gotten to play and while it seemed short it was definitely fun to play.
First time playing the Ecclesithurge Cleric Archtype. The lack of armor is scary but seemed to manage okay here. A big thing I noticed was that while my standard was almost always being used to buff my move action was generally not needed once combat was initiated.
Any idea's/recommendations would be appreciated
GM Turmoil |
While the scenario was short to begin with, dungeon crawl types tend to feel even shorter. You get into a pattern of explore room, combat, repeat. It doesn't allow for a whole lot of role play or other things to do. I promise this next one is very different, and has the potential for very little combat depending on choices made. There is a much greater opportunity for role play and other interactions.
As for your other comment, that's really just a problem with low level play rather than anything you're doing wrong with your build. A lot of classes just don't have much to do at low levels, especially casters. One thing I think a lot of players forget is the aid another action, which can be very helpful at low levels, and even casters have a good chance of beating AC 10. But that's still a standard action, like most things worth doing. The lack of armor is very scary and you should have a solid plan for how you will deal with that in the future. It may not be a bad idea to get a wand of Mage Armor, you're bound to have someone that can use it for you in most groups.
Mun of Ashava |
Thanks so much for running this scenario! If it was as sparse as you say, then you did an excellent job breathing life into it. I am looking forward to the next session. :)
This was Mūn's third chronicle sheet, so he levels up now. I think I have a good handle on where I want him to go, but if anyone here--GM or player--has any thoughts on his advancement, I have ears to hear (or eyes to read, as it were).
Thanks again!
Garekk |
Thank you very much. Very good job, and I look forward to the second!
Gm: I would like to purchase a wand of CLW please.
Mun of Ashava |
I may be able to check off a faction goal from this adventure. Would any of our encounters qualify for the following Season 7 goal?:
"Defeat an outsider that has the evil subtype or an undead creature whose Challenge Rating is at least equal to your character level."
GM Turmoil |
Yes, feel free to make any character updates or purchases you need

Yes, the ghast was CR 2 so that would count.
Mun of Ashava |
Mūn would like to have purchased a cracked ioun stone (500 gp or less, per his current fame/prestige with his faction). The resonance power is going to be a large part of the ioun stone I choose. This link says that only 25% of cracked ioun stones have the resonance power. Is it assumed that if you are buying one, you're getting one of the 25% that has exhibits the resonance power?
GM Turmoil |
In PFS play, only normal stones have resonance powers. From Additional Resources:
Pathfinder Player Companion: Pathfinder Society Primer
Everything in this book is legal for play with the following note. Equipment: Only normal ioun stones have resonance—cracked and flawed ioun stones never do.
