Btw, there's a thread for official updates here. :)

GM - per smite, the first SUCcesful attack does double smite damage to evil outsiders undead or dragons. Since he rolled a natural 1 on the first roll, I moved it to the second. Ironically I was going to ask...if he missed the second attack due to blink, then the damage goes to the next attack..,if it hits. Kinda difficult to capture all that conditional logic in pbp.

GMTrex |

Gotcha. To make it easier on you, feel free to just remind with a "[ooc]+15 damage to first successful attack."

GMTrex |

Apologies, everyone. I have had an extremely draining day at work and I do not have energy for a (big, plot-develop-y) post this evening. I will get one up tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.

![]() |

No worries Trex. It's been a rough couple of days here too, so the pause is welcomed.

GM, question:
My class let's me make a perform (dance) in place of acrobatics. Would this mean I do not get the bonuses that would normally go to acrobatics for being smaller or for move speed greater than 30 feet? ie the bonuses for acrobatics?
-Posted with Wayfinder

GMTrex |

I don't think so, at least by my reading. By that logic you would lose various bonuses you get to Perform and gain the Acrobatics ones instead, which I don't think helps you any.

GMTrex |

Absolutely, no harm in asking. :)

GMTrex |

I'm actually a little shocked that nobody's carrying potions of monkey fish. Or a grappling hook. Or scrolls of jump. Or a Climber's Kit. Or any number of other magical solutions besides very limited fly spells.
Anything?

![]() |

Jump spell holds little appeal since it's only a +10 bonus. With a running jump, would need to beat a DC 80 for 20 feet. At my best, I can get 53 (counting heroism)
That said, I can get up the 10 foot ledges easily taking 10.
It's just the 20 ft ridge to the south that leaves me flummoxed.

GMTrex |

The creative solution for this cavern (which my party didn't think of either): everything here is made of salt. Water dissolves salt. A cleric can create water. It's a little slow, but you can actually just cut your way through the ledges via cleric, or cut ramps. Or even stairs if you make your Craft check.

![]() |

As a science teacher, I object. That's not how it works.

![]() |

Now if there were a cleric of Cayden Cailean with a "create margaritas" spell for the salt...then you would have something!!! (Of course the Paladin would object...but what can you do?)

GMTrex |

How so? Assuming the water has somewhere to run--it does, we just haven't gotten there yet--a continuous stream of create'd water would, over time, erode/dissolve salt formations. Stairs would be difficult without tools, but still possible, and ramps would be relatively simple.

Drink it for him =)

Salt crystals that big? It'd be faster to simply leave, hitch a ride back to a town, and buy extensive climbing gear.

Hail! I'll be mostly incommunicado from Thursday night until Sunday night. I'll be at Total Con running an unreasonable amount of games (I set a goal for myself of earning my 5th star there, and it means running 4 specials in one weekend, two of them multitable.)
Sareth is pretty straight forward, so I'll try to post via Wayfinder.

GM Harpwizard |

I will be with Chris at TotalCon as well. I leave tomorrow afternoon and will not return until late Sunday night. I am being crazy busy as well, running six slots slots, four of them being specials. However I get to play Bonekeep 2 with my Core Paladin with Chris GMing for his 5th Star observation. Wish us luck!

![]() |

Good luck!
I'll also be away this weekend. Visiting my family and doing the Renaissance Festival for my birthday. Will try to keep active through wayfinder, assuming I don't forget what blessing of fervor does and doesn't cover... again...

Realize I never replied to this. Yes, this would be true if physics governed. Helpfully the scenario specifically states that 100 gallons of water washes away 1 inch of salt. :P

Fresh chronicles are available in the folder!
No rush on getting the next one going, as I need a bit of time to prep and you all need time to update, but I will get us started on the mission briefing momentarily.
Feel free to roll Part III day jobs and note any changes to your basic stats.

Not much to adjust on Omrax since he leveled last time.
2PP to replace FLY potion
And debating either Restful or Comfort armor enhancement. He really only has 4500gp to spend and that only affords Restful. Comfort seems better for the extra 500gp.
Any suggestions on anyone having ever researched benefits of either?

GMTrex |

You didn't need the potion. Skybek and Sareth can provide enough fly spells to get the party out. Unless you used it earlier in the adventure?

![]() |

Sareth is going to send his blade to a fine artificer he knows in Sothis. There he'll have runes of power etched into the tang. When all is said and done the blade not only strikes truer, but contains enough power to harm creatures not normally vulnerable to normal blades...
Sareth blows all the money and more making his blade +3

![]() |

Quinn has leveled to 11. Upgrading his headband of charisma to a headband of cha/int. Also, a scroll with two copies of fly on it.
Will get stats updated when I get home from work tonight.

![]() |

Skybek is all leveled up now at 10th level. What are people's thoughts with preparing raise dead? Should I change that out for Flame Strike or a Healing spell instead?
you have 5,000 Gp laying around? I'd rather have Breath of Life ready. Let's just not let us need it.

GMTrex |

Yeah, raise dead is the fix-it-later spell. You'd have to be carrying the 5000gp diamond around to use it. (And at this level, sometimes you need a resurrection spell instead.) Breath of life is the much cheaper fix-it-now spell.

Part III: Healer: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

Hey guys, I'm going to be gone from Friday afternoon to late Sunday. I'll be on a snowshoeing hiking trip in Northern Vermont, where my connectivity is spotty at best. I'm guessing I won't be posting until I get back.

GMTrex |

Side note:
My own adventure through this Whistledown fight was probably the closest I've ever come to experiencing a TPK. There were seven of us but we made some egregious tactical errors, had some bad rolls at the wrong time, and had far less divine magic on hand than you all did. We probably would've been done for if we hadn't had two really opportune crits and an elemental gem in our bard's backpack.
That battle occurred in the only other PbP instance of this series on the Paizo boards, so you can read all about our disaster if you want. It's one of my fondest memories in Pathfinder.
The one fight alone lasted longer than many PbP scenarios: 219 posts.

Ha! I'm playing with Bold Strider now. I may mention it to him....

I'm away for the weekend until pretty much Monday morning. I'll pick up then. If I'm a player, feel free to GMPC me. If I'm the GM, I'll be back ASAP!
