Alright, ready Azreal? Big city, so maybe we will find a building you can fit in.
The dragon shakes his head.
yes, and perhaps a stand I can be displayed from? I grew up in your town. But have you thought about what happens if I show up in one so large?
The lad nods his head. yep, I'm instantly awesome. Now come on, someone is waiting on us..
Sup guys!

Hey everyone, thanks for the selection. Time to read some backgrounds. Really looking forward to this game!

Ditto.
I am looking forward to our introduction. This assuredly will be a motley lot, and things are sure to be a bit chaotic.

So... we have me (former Korvosan Guard, current private investigator) hunting a lost child for a traveling merchant....
... a former magic professor back from a stint in Absalom, hunting his surviving child....
... a dragon riding half elf, hunting the killer of his childhood friend....
... a haunted midwife, hunting the murderer of her dead guard husband (condolences, chances are I knew him by name if not face)....
... and a former drug addicted inquisitor of Pharasma, bearing a grudge against the dealer that provided the drugs that nearly killed her.
Should be an interesting mix. :)

Corwin Avelard |

Guess i need to figure out what her husband's name was...
I vote for Bob. Or Timmy.
;p

GM Darth Rancor |

Guess i need to figure out what her husband's name was...
All the details you didn't think you'd need about your character!
Sweet! We're all here. For those who haven't, put your basic character info under your name(look at Rebecca and Kamilla if you need an example).

Given the coincidental timing of, and location, when you left the watch and her husbands murder, I would say it was probably one of the last cases you worked on. While not the lead investigator, that would have fallen to one of the superiors being it was a watch member, you likely came across a 'lead' that they deemed not worth following, adding to your decision to leave. Eventually closed due to "lack of evidence", it was chalked up to a mugging gone bad, what with his personal items taken (wedding ring, coins, weapons). At least poor Jonathan was given a proper burial paid for by the city. If you knew him personally or not, you likely met Pia at least once either at the funeral or during the investigation.
I'm not sure why, but when trying to figure out her husbands name, the Secret of NIMH kept popping in my head. So Jonathan it is!

That would actually make a lot of sense, especially if that clue somehow implicated Lamm. The fact that her superiors in the local element of the guard wouldn't take a credible lead in a murder case seriously was bad enough, after all... the fact that the murder victim was a fellow member of the Guard was unforgivable.
Rebecca likely questioned you, and certainly attended the funeral, but likely fell off contact since. She would be more than happy to aid you in finding evidence that Lamm was responsible for the death of poor Johnathan.

Kamilla Moor |

Realized just now I actually forgot to pick up arrows for Kamilla, so I went ahead and added those to her character sheet. She now only has 7 silver pennies left to her name.

Rebecca Mavern |

I likewise realized that I had forgotten to list Sarenrae as Rebecca primary god, though it would be safe to say that she isn't quite the most devout of followers.

Corwin Avelard |

@Roran Corwin is educated enough to recognize the dragon, especially with the "frost breath" on the window. I am not sure what the GM is planning, but I suspect that Corwin's reaction is natural, especially in town.
@GM if I am off-base with Corwin's reaction, please let me know, and I will tone it down.

GM Darth Rancor |

@Corwin: Your reaction might be a bit over the top but the sentiment is spot on.
I'm just waiting to see if Pia has anything else to add. If not I'll get things going either after ye olde Super Bowl or tomorrow morning.

Kamilla Moor |

One question that I did have; what district of Korvosa are we in?

Pia Verlaine |

Sometimes failing a roll badly makes for such better story. Also, forgot to add (will edit if i still have time to do so once at work) her casting is spoken in Necril. It would have been whispered very quietly during all the taking.

Rebecca Mavern |

Sure, with the caveat/handwave that Rebecca swung by her place to get her thieves tools and backpack (the former in case she needs to unlock/disarm something, the latter in case something seems to be particularly evidence worthy/useful).

Pia Verlaine |

Fine with me

Corwin Avelard |

Corwin is looking forward to the opportunity to tell Azreal that he can shapechange...as a wyrmling.

Rebecca Mavern |

So Rebecca is thinking about going down there and attempting to intimidate the gnome into surrendering. Between her uniform (he likely won't see the rank missing unless he gets real close) and her turning on her halo (assuming he is evil gives +2 bonus, if not still should serve to unnerve the guy fluff wise) she might get him to surrender or flee. Even if not, she would be very distracting while Pia, Corwin and Kamilla get the others from their bunks... hopefully they are friendly.

Kamilla Moor |

Sounds like a plan, Kamilla has a descent intimidate I think, she could aid as well.

Pia Verlaine |

Pia can also assist, she IS the creepy one. I could hit him at range, make him think he's hearing ghosts (sotto voce) lower his rolls 1 round.

So got the distant worlds campaign setting as part of that Humble Bundle a little bit back, and was wondering if either of you thought that a creature listed in there would be a better archtype for Az than the "standard dragon" typically presented in the Beastiary. Posting the specs below but BLUF is they permanently mentally bond with their riders and have the dexterity/intelligence to use weapons with their front limbs, typically glaives or lances. Not saying that he has to be an alien from another world or something, just throwing it out there as food for thought. As a side note, Rebecca would have no knowledge of any of this.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Rider Bond (Su) A dragonkin can
form a permanent bond with its
rider. Once this bond is made, a
dragonkin cannot form another
rider bond until its current rider
dies. A dragonkin and its rider can
communicate with each other as if
they both had telepathy 100 ft. In combat, when a rider is
mounted on his dragonkin, both creatures roll initiative
separately and treat the highest result as their single result.
Somewhere between true dragons and brute drakes lie
the dragonkin. Intelligent, even-tempered, and deadly in
combat, dragonkin get along well with humanoids. Unlike
many other dragons, dragonkin have enough dexterity in
their front limbs to have adopted weapons, favoring huge
glaives and long lances.
The most unique aspect of dragonkin is their bond with
other races. Dragonkin opposed to the depredations of
evil dragons in the Drakelands recognize other cultures’
potential, and such individuals often adopt humanoid
riders. After it comes of age, a dragonkin may form an
unbreakable partnership with a rider, who acts as a trusted
comrade. In battle, a rider and her dragon are inseparable,
in such constant telepathic communication that they
almost seem to be one entity. When not fighting, the
humanoids are responsible for caring and providing for
their draconic companions, though this domestic role is
more a social dynamic than outright servitude.
Built for speed, dragonkin are long and sleek. Many
adopt mannerisms from humanoid races, even going so
far as to wear armor, and this, combined with the fact
that dragonkin have thrown in their lot with humanoids,
sometimes disgusts true dragons. A typical dragonkin is
15 to 20 feet long and roughly 2,000 pounds.
Now that that is posted, have to say that I having a blast so far. Combat has even been going at a enjoyable clip.

@GM Darth Sorry, I had to jam everything together with the RP asking if Wren is Ok and asking about Lamm. Corwin wouldn't do that normally, but I think everyone is itching to move things along, and I don't want to totally hold everything up. There will be plenty of RP time later I think.
;)

@GM Darth

GM Darth Rancor |

No apologies necessary! I hope he gets well soon as well. Don't feel like there is a rush, take your time.

GM Darth Rancor |

Still here. I was just giving Roran time to post. If he doesn't by tomorrow morning I'll bot him to keep things moving.

GM Darth Rancor |

I'm sorry for your loss. There is no need to be sorry, take the time you need.
