Loenor Shalothas
|
Seeing that the duo with the other thug is having some trouble, and with Rapunzel having the issue of the woman well in... well, hair, Loenor opts to aid his allies against the last foe.
Moving straight toward the thug, hoping to catch him with his eyes closed, Loenor lunges with his trident at the man's belly but overreaches his limit and misses.
Do or do not, there is no trident: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Apparently it's 'do not'. Ah well. Always next time.

Rapunzel holds up the necklace in response to Loenor, "Red Mantis assassins. At least she is. These two might just be taking coin from the wrong woman." Rapunzel walks back over to the woman, and begins taking her weapons and gear. "You can talk to me and be turned over to the Osirians, or you can be turned over to Torch's bodyguards, and talk to them."
Rapunzel
|
Rapunzel shrugs, "Personally I'd rather rot in an Osirian jail where I might have a chance of escape, rather than tortured to death for the amusement of some orcs but I will respect your wishes in this matter." Turning to Marianne, "Be a dear and go tell the orc brothers where we are. We'll wait right in there." she points to one of the run down huts then starts dragging the woman in that direction.

While the others question the assassin, Arovandeon uses his wand again to further heal his wounds. He then examines the two thugs and the woman's possessions for any relevant clues.
"Could the presence of these assassins be the message the Hundredfingers had for Grandmaster Torch?"

"Seems likely to me the message is a ruse to draw Torch out for this one." Rapunzel pokes the assassin. "Fairly childish plot, but I suppose it could be effective against small children."
Loenor Shalothas
|
Loenor stands from the thugs, steps over and stabs his trident into the ground inches from the woman. "Tell them either why you're here or where the... whatever they're called, Hundredfingers or what not, where they are, or the halforcs won't have much to play with when they get here."

"If she does not answer, then I propose we begin testing her "elixirs." Arovandeon says as he examines her possessions with a clinical eye. "We could feed them to her, one at a time, and I will take notes on the results. I imagine one is a poison, but perhaps we will learn other things before we get to it."

Torch's half-orc are summoned and return shortly thereafter. In the mean time, the woman refuses to speak, apparently more afraid of who she works for, rather than the party.
As things calm down in the alley, a man appears, identifying himself as Naleth Hundredfingers. "I need you to deliver a message to Grandmaster Torch. Tell him the Red Mantis is searching Eto for a scarred man.” He nods at the bound woman. "She is the one who has been asking questions about Torch."
Are you escorting the woman back to Torch or turning her over to the bodyguards?
Rapunzel
|
Rapunzel is happy to turn the woman over to the bodyguards and continue on with Torch's list of dirty laundry.
Looking at the orcs "I won't want to be responsible for leading the Red Mantis back to your fearless leader, she's your problem now."
Rapunzel will take back her manacles once they have secured her, keeping anything she took from the woman.
Marianne Bennette

Marianne nods, "We'll leave our little Mantis to the half orcs here, how about we check out this well next? The way Torch worded it there's a chance we might be able to make use of some of the stuff."
| GM Tektite |
The half-orcs nod wordlessly and take the woman away. Heading out of the city, the party heads to the Well of Serpents. After a short trek, you spy the well. Wild grasses hug the low walls surrounding the wide mouth of the well. The opening is 15 feet wide at the top but narrows to a width of about 5 feet at the bottom 30 feet below.

Physical challenges are far from Arovandeon's strength, and so he lets others with more experience determine the best way to proceed. He does, however, examine the area for dangers and the well for structural integrity.

Fastenhyme lowers a torch revealing nothing but, a shallow pool of water.
Izoki then climbs down, followed by Loenor. At the bottom of the well, they find about 2 feet of sediment-laden water occupies the bottom of the well, obscuring a submerged horizontal shaft large enough for to crawl through.
Arovandeon decides that the shaft looks sturdy and safe.
| GM Tektite |
After about fifteen feet of crawling, Izoki enters a larger chamber. A dark pool fills the center of this vast chamber spilling out of its cracked basin. The trickle of water flows west through a short tunnel of rough-hewn stone and pools at the bottom of a collapsed well. Alcoves set in the walls give the illusion of staring at the flared hood of a cobra. Two altars face each other across the pool in the chamber’s northwest and southeast corners. A statue of a robed human male stands in the northeast corner, and what must have been its twin lies toppled in the southwest corner. The room is completely dark.

Marianne takes her time clambering down the rope, thankful she purchased an agile breastplate, and with some awkward maneuvering of her spear crawls through after the others casting light upon the tip of her spear.
Glancing about the chamber she casts detect magic and scans searching for the auras of the magical items they seek.
| GM Tektite |
The party successfully enters the chamber. Even with the light of Marianne's spell, the light seems unnaturally dim. Looking around you see a dark pool fills the center of this vast chamber spilling out of its cracked basin.
As Marianne detects for magic, she picks up several auras coming from the northeast corner of the room, in the area of the statue.

Drawing his trident as he goes, Loenor moves closer to the pool, keeping a wary eye out for anything lurking in the darkness. At the pool, he peers into it, wondering if the items they are to be collecting are contained within.

"I would say come down, feels dangerous," Marianne calls back, "there are magical auras coming from the north-east corner near the statue. Anyone know how to check for traps, might be called for - did you say you could Loenor?"
