Marianne Bennette |
Sighing in relief Marianne gathers everyone to her, ensuring all are close enough to be effected by her channeling, "Desna give us succour in this barren land, lay aside our wounds and grant us the strength to endure."
She then uses tow of her spells and a wand charge to heal herself, before turning to Rapunzel and Loenor and using three wand charges up each.

"Desna is a goddess of dreams and travelers, not nightmares, and I would call that monster the later. Thankfully she is on our side or things could have easily gone much worse!"
She moves over and searches the gnolls bodies for anything they can use.
Arovandeon Isero |
Arovandeon moves to check the defeated gnolls, hoping one has survived. "Perhaps we should question one of these gnolls to see if the Aspis Consortium chose to take this route as well."

Once stabilizing one, he retrieves some smelling salts from among his alchemical supplies and opens the stopper under the nose of the least injured gnoll.
I don't want to waste too much time on them, but I'll offer them their lives if they talk.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Hmm...
Marianne Bennette |
Marianne sighs, "What does it matter our only response would be to go as fast as we can and we are already doing that. Just kill these beasts, we know they are slavers and prey upon travelers and then let's get on our way."
Loenor Shalothas |
"Desna is a goddess of dreams and travelers, not nightmares, and I would call that monster the later. Thankfully she is on our side or things could have easily gone much worse!"
She moves over and searches the gnolls bodies for anything they can use.
"Ah, but the Great Dreamer also looks after the luck of her puppet theatre, which she seems to see fit to deny me. Even now, she laughs..." Loenor is certainly bitter about the Varisian goddess' spiteful antics and makes note to drop some coins in the next temple to her they cross. Maybe that will help my fortune.
As the talk continues, Loenor chimes in. "I agree. If they are ahead of us, talking only puts us further behind. If we are ahead, all we do is cut short our lead. Best to press on and put these beasts down. It would be doing the world a favour."
Arovandeon Isero |
"You were correct in your assumptions." Arovandeon admits to Loenor and Marianne. As he speaks, the elf gets out a pen and journal as he steps over to examine the dust digger. "Yet you could not have known for certain, and I am an academic unused to ignoring an opportunity to learn."
He examines the creature for a few seconds, then turns to leave, sketching and writing notes from memory.
"Let us continue."
Loenor Shalothas |
Loenor tests the water in the oasis. If it is drinkable, he will empty the remnants of his waterskin into the sand and refill it in the crisp fresh water. Taking some from the pool in the palm of his hand to refresh himself, he grabs his belongings and looks for the map. "Enough gawking at the creature. Where to?"
Izoki Stoneclaw |
Izoki clears his misfire and looks around the oasis for tracks.

As Izoki examines the oasis, he finds a poorly hidden cache of stolen goods near the gnoll's hiding spot. In addition to a silver cup worth 60 gp and a hodgepodge of coins, their ill-gotten gains include alchemical supplies from Thuvia that consist of an alchemy crafting kit, a vial of antitoxin, and two flasks of alchemist’s fire. There are also two flasks of liquid ice, and two potions.

As the sunsets she scowls, "Can we afford to rest?"

Marianne nods, "We likely need it after that fight anyway, very well let's rest. You take first watch Fastenhyme, then Izoki, Loenor, Arovandeon, then me, two hours each ought to give us enough time."
Arovandeon Isero |
Arovandeon lets his companions examine the potions. He could have easily identified them, but doing so would have denied the joy of discovery after diligent study to the others.
During his watch, he studies the terrain, making sketches and filling out his notes on the journey.
