On that note. How did you want to handle recall knowledge checks?
I may have critically failed.
Should I wait for GM to roll it?

Made it safely to London. Brandy arrives today after being checked in by Heathrow Animal Center (or Centre, rather).
Flat is Euro-nice, but clearly the embassy is operating a minimal staff or effort. Half our welcome kit items were missing things or flat our didn't work. Phones without charging cords, Wifi hotspot doesn't turn on, only one bedsheet... Spent a few hours trying to get Capital One not to decline my credit cards. Hope the Uber driver gets their money.
We are going to spend the next two years trying not to get water on the floor when we shower. I never understood that design.

Medicine:
The uses of the Medicine skill can be broken down into three parts: Healing Damage in Combat, Healing Damage out of Combat and Healing everything else.
Healing Damage out of Combat is all about the Treat Wounds action.
You spend 10 minutes treating a patient (two, if you have the Ward Medic feat, which Mikhail does.) You can't do this again for that patient for an hour.
Roll a Medicine Check against a DC of 15. If you succeed, the target regains 2d8 Hit Points, and any wounded condition is removed. On a critical success, the target regains 4d8 hit points. On a critical failure, the target takes 1d8 damage.
If you’re an expert in Medicine, you can instead attempt a DC 20 check to increase the Hit Points regained by 10; if you’re a master of Medicine, you can instead attempt a DC 30 check to increase the Hit Points regained by 30; and if you’re legendary, you can instead attempt a DC 40 check to increase the Hit Points regained by 50. The damage dealt on a critical failure remains the same.

Looks like Alister and Kern will run into each other at Bldg 15. lol. We must have been typing at the same time.

Pretty excited to assault a fort! I have so many ideas with this.
Splitting the party is always bad but having two assault units attacking the tower and the front gate (via the knocker) would be awesome!

Guys, my dog, Brandy has gotten very sick. She spent the night in the Animal Hospital here in London. We're waiting for an update, but given her age and existing health issues, it's unlikely to be a good scenario.
I don't know what is in store for us the rest of the weekend. I may post. I may not. Please bear with me. Thanks.

Heart and good vibes out to you and yours Tim!

A lot of class specific features are labeled uncommon. I think it is a means of gating them to specific classes so you can't pick them up via feats/arcehtypes that offer you similar options.

We had to let Brandy go this weekend. She had lived a long and full life of 16+ years, mostly with us since we got her in Miami. She was a very friendly and curious canine. She loved carrots and shrimp in addition to the more typical cheese and peanut butter. She was kinda lazy too, content to sleep as late as we would let her. And with us, she traveled to more states and countries than most of our family members.
But above all she was a Miami diva, sticking her nose into every box and bag we brought home, and a real drama queen when it came to any ordeal like the vet, baths, or even just toweling off from the rain.
It's very hard not being home in our comfortable surroundings. But the outpouring of support and love is amazing. Thank you.

Really sorry for your loss. She sounds like an awesome pup, and I'm jealous of her travels!
May your heart find happiness as Brandy finds peace.
RIP Brandy.

So, it does not look like I add the magic bonus to damage. If I do it is 1 higher.
Correct, no extra damage from the +1 Weapon Potency Rune. Just a bonus to hit, which is pretty good for fighter since their "to hit" is usually above the rest.
Extra damage mainly comes from Striking Runes in 2e. They add an extra dice of damage. The 1e super high static bonus +43 to damage is not much of a thing in 2e. Now you're likely to end up rolling 4d8+STR+<Other Stuff?> for your Longsword with the Major Striking Rune.
More on runes here
Note the + bonus for your weapon dictates how many property (fire, ice, returning, etc.) runes your weapon can have.
So a weapon can have one Potency Rune (+1/+2/+3), one Striking Rune (Basic, Greater, Major), and 1/2/3 Property Runes based on the Potency Rune number.
Hope this helps! :)
Alister Medvyed
Remember that in 2e, increasing your to hit bonus also means you're more likely to crit, so it's an indirect damage boost. And of course, you're more likely to hit with second and third attacks, but that's just like in 1e.
Kernithar Flott
Mikhail, I think you're still on the roof of the blockhouse, and the melee is inside. However, there's an open door in the side fo the tower you can use to access the inside.
GM Tarondor
I just want to know how he loaded his crossbow more than once. I looked for that and did not find it. :P
Not every monster ability is available to player characters. The good news is, you have a lot more options than he does.
In 1E they had ropes to tie to weapons so you could drop them and not lose them. Is there such a thing in 2E?
No.

I figured it was just something I could not do. That was meant as light humor until the 12th splat book comes out and I get my machine gun crossbow. :D

Only if a bow has the Volley trait is it detrimental to shoot close up.
AFAIK, only the longbow has the volley trait.
GM Tarondor
Mikhail, I am very confused by your math.
[dice=Crossbow Attack+IC]1d20+16+3
[dice=Crossbow Damage+IC]2d10+2+3
First off, a crossbow does only d8, not d10. A heavy crossbow does d10, but is much slower to load. So your weapon should do 2d8, not 2d10.
Second, Where is the +3 to hit and the +2 to damage and +3 to damage coming from? The only bonus I know of is Inspire Courage, which is +1 to hit and damage.
Mikhail Templeson
I have Deadly Simplicity for Abadar's favorite weapon, the crossbow.
https://2e.aonprd.com/Feats.aspx?ID=264
So that is how I am doing d10s instead of d8's.
The +2 to damage is from fighter Weapon Specialization.
The +3 is me being wrong on Inspire Courage. For some reason I misread what Alister wrote as +3 to hit and damage. It should be +1.

That spriggan boss is flanked (flat footed so -2 AC) and Mikhail now has reduced Multiple Attack Penalty (2nd attack is only -3 MAP and 3rd attack is only -6 MAP).
Lets get some Crits!!
Kernithar Flott
How high up is that trap door where Alister is shooting from?
Or rather is there a way for Kern to reach it?
Kernithar Flott
Well shoot... jumping is tied to Athletics not Acrobatics.
Kernithar Flott
@GM
I believe Mikhail landed a blow (emphasis mine):
Mikhail moves over to attack and then swings twice at the warlord.
First attack with Civility and IC if it is still up: 1d20 + 19 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 19 + 1 = 26
First Damage roll w/IC if it is still up: 2d12 + 4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 4 + 3 + 1 = 13
Second attack with Civility and IC if it is still up: 1d20 + 19 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (2) + 19 + 1 - 3 = 19
First Damage roll w/IC if it is still up: 2d12 + 4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5, 6) + 4 + 3 + 1 = 19
I am at -3 on the second attack with Kern's ability.
Mikhail continues to attack the spriggan leader, but the giant continues to use the doorway as an effective defense and Mikhail can't land a solid blow against him.
Bracing against the pain, Kernithar begins a flurry of attacks, throwing his weight behind each strike.
Elven Curved Blade vs Prey (1): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21 Damage: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7
Elven Curved Blade vs Prey (2): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15 Damage (Forceful): 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 = 8
Elven Curved Blade vs Prey (3): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30 Damage (Forceful): 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12C'mon dice gods! He's flanked and frightened!
Up in the blockhouse, battle rages and Kernithar slashes furiously at the spriggan warlord, wounding him three times.
On my last three, the first was a 21 to hit, so Mikhail should have hit with a 26?
Or I didn't hit with a 21? :(

Recall Knowledge skills added to headline for Kern.
Mikhail Templeson
Random thoughts of this fight. It is nice to be able to heal at a distance or heal and attack. Etc. The three action economy provides for some interesting choices on how you wish to expend them. I can power attack and take less penalties but it does less then two attacks.

A word about the story of "The Varnhold Vanishing".
The story (and level structure) assume that you will engage in hexploration throughout the Nomen Heights, searching the various map hexes as you did in the Kamelands and Narlmarches, looking for what's out there.
As you know, there's not a lot of good story reason to do that. Logically, you'd continue your search for the villagers, which is why you came. The story as written has four parts, of which hexploration is the longest part, but which has only a few elements directly related to the major stories unfolding here.
I'll worry about making sure you're the right level, you just worry about the story. That said, don't expect to get your answers right away. It's intended to be a mystery, after all. You have two solid clues to follow, so start there.
