Whoops! I did miss that Brenna. Had a crazy week and updating between crises. You can reposition yourself and continue attacking if you so wish.
Without a target, Trig holds her action as she eyes the south door to ensure nobody else joins the fight.
Brenna still has an action and can act normally.

GM SpiderBeard |

The group pulls out of the cloud, which conveniently vanishes as the dretches act. For a moment, they all get a good look at you (except the ones in the pit). One dretch utters a nasty-sounding word, and a second stinking cloud appears overtop of all of you! The last thing you see clearly is the dretches charging in.

Lyr Scarheart |

Fort Save, poison: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 4 = 22 Lyr ignored the cloud and focused. He ran into the chamber, scrambling past his allies and enemies.
I don't think they can see while they are in the cloud, so they shouldn't be able to take AoOs. If I'm wrong I'll suffer the consequences.
Once in the room where he could see, he noticed the pit. Acting quickly he tossed a flask down the hole.

Fort Save!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Zoso finishes his summoning, bringing forth a small air elemental just to his side.
Much relieved he was able to shake off the effect and finish his spell, he continues to singing as the gas filled his lungs and commands the elemental to immediately spin into it's whirlwind ability, hoping it will clear the air.
Seems intuitive but I actually can't fine anything concrete on this.
"Oh, to sail away
To sandy lands and other days
Oh, to touch the dream
Hides inside and never seen."
With the cleared vision? Targeting grey.
Zoso lastly lets loose a long awaited arrow.

The group brace for impact as the dretches rush in. Sarkast is completely overcome by the stinking cloud and rushes outside to recover.
Lyr lobs a flask of holy water high, and it crashes down into the pit. There's a statisfying shriek of pain as it connects. The dretches in the pit try to scrabble their way out, but fail.
Brenna stands fast and swings out brutally with her axe. The blue dretch is cut down and dies screaming in pain. Zoso's arrow flies true into his target, although only partially damages it thanks to its resistance.
Trig resists the stinking cloud, and tries a quick tremor on the white dretch. The creature shrieks as it hits the ground.
The dretches counterattack, with one shrieking as it leaps upon Brenna to no avail. The one Trig knocked down tries to stand back up, but a quick swipe from Brenna ends its life.

Saphren |

zzzz! Someone PM me when I can do more than take a move action. <-- Joke. One dretch can be hassle. I suspect this is gonna be a long fight. 2 stinking clouds cast. 4 to go.

![]() |

I exchanged all my arrows for cold iron, in Riddleport before we left I believe, if that is the DR I'm working against. I'm assuming the air elemental can't blow the gas out the open doors?

GM SpiderBeard |

Full damage then, Zoso! Moot point since it's dead anyways.

Zoso, I'd rule that the air elemental's whirlwind can suck up the stinking cloud, but you have to use that ability.
Brenna completely destroys the dretch in front of her, slashing it to pieces with several easy strokes. The two remaining dretches in the pit squeal, and then there is a horrific shriek as Lyr's holy water dissolves the head of one of them. Only one dretch remains. It scrabbles uselessly at the pit walls.
The stinking cloud vanishes as it dissipates.

GM SpiderBeard |

Lyr's arrow lodges in the dretch's brain, and it collapses in the pit.
With a bwoop the dretch corpses pop out of the ground as the pit closes.
End of Combat

Saphren |

Saphren is nauseated for a couple more rounds. He tries to stay out of the way with his back to a wall. Finally, once he is himself again he will enter the room to help search it.

Lyr Scarheart |

Lyr waited until the pit un-conjured and retrieved his arrows. He cleaned them and put them back into his quiver.
Lyr's specialty arrows are Durable. They don't break under normal use.
Lyr's arrows have different kinds of fletching. The knotting along the feathers and at the end of the shaft creates a braille-like pattern so Lyr can identify various kinds of arrows by touch. That was how he was able to find his cold iron arrows even while firing blind.
Also, his three quivers seem to be partitioned, further separating different arrows from each other. It seems he's put a lot of thought into his loadout, and into effectively firing without needing his eyes.

GM SpiderBeard |

A door beckons southwards. As the stinking clouds fade, you hear the sounds of movement and conversation from behind the door before it falls silent. It seems your fight with the dretch was noticed, although reinforcements never came through that south door.

![]() |

Zoso rests on his knees as he recuperates outside. Once he's not feeling like he'll vomit, Zoso will assist in searching the newly cleared areas.
"Lyr, you'll have to teach me what you can about firing blind. I have my arrows seperated by a partition but not by feel like this." Zoso says as he hands the other once of his arrows. "That's pretty clever."

Lyr Scarheart |

"It is mostly about planning." Lyr said in his gravely rasp. "The Drow language is sophisticated. They have a complex hand sign which allows them to communicate silently. They also have an alphabet of bumps and dents, which allows them to write in words that can only be read by feel."
"I just tied my knots to make those letters." He ran his fingers along the small knots along the fletching threads of the arrow Zoso handed back to him. "This one says 'Iron.'"

GM SpiderBeard |

Let me know what you'd like to do next. There's a door to the south and presumably someone behind it who heard the fight.

Trig Glittergold |

"Maybe we could try something else," Trig suggests. Is the floor stone? Maybe elementals could go under the door and pop up behind whoever is waiting.

Saphren |

Saphren will check the south doors for traps and have a listen as well.
Perception, Traps: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25 Also he has trapspotter so please roll for him as well.
Perception, Listen: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
I like it Trig. Send them in first, give them a moment or two and then open the doors.

GM SpiderBeard |

Saphren listens intently and although the conversation has ceased, he hears the sounds of a few people trying very, very hard to be quiet. The door is not trapped.
Trig checks the floor and the foundation is indeed stone.

![]() |

Apologies for the lag there.
"Hmm, I'm not against checking for a second way in but the summoning surprise sounds like a good option to me too."

GM SpiderBeard |

Okay, planning done. You're summoning the elemental. Trig, lemme know how you're doing or if the command is "go under the door and attack everything ins ight" With no response I will assume that is the case.

Lyr Scarheart |

I can help with that too. Lyr summons at the same time Trig does.
Command is "move benath the floor to the other side of the chamber, surface to attack and block the exits when we enter the chamber.
