------------------------------------------
Round 2, Init. 25
Everything is shrouded in darkness. Ryster and Daimonji can still see Parani perched in her tower, but the rest of the party cannot.
I will leave her marker there for Round 2, since that was the last place you saw her before she disappeared.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
I know Hrolf can't see her but did he hear her do anything? The sound of arrows flying maybe?
GM Sloth |
No one hears any arrows this round.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
1d20 ⇒ 20
Daimonji |
"Damn it, coward's gone invisible!" A pause. "...an' I think she's just jumped off."
Without wasting one more second to discuss strategy, he dashes off in the direction of the sound he heard, hoping it's not already too late.
Dai will apparently be dragging the rest of the chain, though he'll break his grip if he meets resistance. Run to E8.
Jake Hargrove |
If Jake does not see a prone form on the ground under the tower, then he will make his way to its base in a zig-zag running fashion to see either if there is a way up, or a way to knock it down.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
Assuming it's Hrolf's initiative soon:
Hrolf finishes his spell and conjures a majestic eagle with silver feathers and golden eyes.
He shouts some commands in his lyrical tongue and then waits.
The eagle flies up.
Assuming it can see her.
And claws their attacker.
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage /w Smite: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
GM Sloth |
There doesn't seem to be any easy way to get up the tower, other than to just climb it.
Hrolf, there's no one there for the eagle to attack.
Instead of dragging this on TOO long, I will take us out of initiative for the moment. Let me know what you are going to do. I will keep track of "rounds" that way. But at the moment, it's completely silent once again.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
Assuming nothing happens for the next few rounds, Hrolf retrieves his wand and starts to heal himself and then Jake.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Jake: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Jake: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Daimonji |
Having emerged from the darkness with his skin much greener than usual, Daimonji takes a moment to open up his senses to potential clues as to the woman's whereabouts, then takes out his rope and grappling hook, with which he climbs up to where she was last seen, trying to remain alert.
If nothing jumps out to him, he'll spray some more of that chalk powder around.
GM Sloth |
Excellent. So here's a timeline for Daimonji so far. Everyone else is free to tell me what you're doing during these rounds as well:
Round 1: Alter Self
Round 2: Double move to the tower
Round 3: Produce and throw grappling hook and rope
Round 4: Begin climbing rope (15ft)
Round 5: Finish climbing, standing in E7. There seems to be no one up here. Produce chalk as a move action?
Where are you throwing your chalk first? And what is everyone else doing?
Hrolf is healing himself and Jake during all of this.
Ryster Demarkarios |
Ryster drops his Darkness and go to the base of the tower, checking for anyone coming down.
Daimonji |
Daimonji'll be starting where he's standing (E7), then tossing more around randomly, increasingly looking less and less like he's doing a chinese whispers version fo detective work, and more like he's blowing off steam.
GM Sloth |
The spot at Daimonji's feet, where the cloaked woman stood only moments before, is empty. The powder simply rests on the floor of the tower structure. No one else seems to be up here.
Round 6: E7
Round 7: D6
As the powder slowly falls towards the ground, a peculiar shape is outlined on the floor. It seems to be in the shape of a humanoid, the woman that you are after. She doesn't seem to be moving.
Wow. I rolled randomly to see where you'd throw next, and voila! Now, let's see what happens next. :)
GM Sloth |
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
The other problem is that, being a little familiar with how an invisibility spell works, is that she is likely to remain invisible quite a bit longer than she will be asleep.
Daimonji |
For a moment, Daimonji stands there. He didn't honestly expect her to still be there. He gestures for the rest of the team to climb up.
Soooo... can one coup-de-grace in nonlethal without the risk of accidentally exploding the victim's head? Otherwise, we're gonna need more rope.
GM Sloth |
You can, I believe, coup de grace non-lethal. However, you can't coup de grace someone with concealment, so she's immune to that with her invisibility at the moment. The only way to knock her out is by attacking her, which would then wake her up. And, of course, she'd still be invisible!
The downside to the chalk powder is that it only lasts one round. The upside is that since she's not moving yet, it's pretty easy to know where she is to tie her up!
So, what do you do? It sounds like Jake wants to use rope to tie her up. Is that the plan?
GM Sloth |
It takes a little bit of fumbling to tie up the invisible person, but you feel that you manage to get her arms roped up before you feel her stirring. It seems she's waking up, but the ropes are secured on the arms. The ropes are visible, but that's all.
Soft murmuring comes from the ground. "Hmmm... Rrrmmm... Hrrm, huh? What-what's going on? What did you do to me!?" She begins to yell as the ropes thrash around. The ropes start to rise a little bit, as if she's trying to stand up...
GM Sloth |
You guys have totally got her. However, her tactics and personality... I apologize. :)
Suddenly, from the ground, Parani reappears once again as she thrusts herself forward in an attempt to shove Daimonji off of the tower!
"I'm not telling you worthless dogs anything!"
She's essentially Bull Rushing from prone. I'll allow everyone up there to take an AoO on her, since she's not proficient, AND her hands are tied, leaving her unable to really protect herself.
Daimonji |
I don't think you can influence a character as an AoO, guys!
Daimonji didn't quite expect her to do that, but still, her movements are sluggish, giving him an opportunity to try and stun her.
Nonlethal attack w/ Stunning Fist (DC 14) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Daimonji |
Jeepers, a crit threat? Let's see now. I also forgot to factor in the +2 to Str from my still-ongoing Alter Self. Would it screw up the dice roll if I went and edited it in? Either way, I'll put my confirmation roll in a separate post just to be sure.
Critical threat confirmation 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Damage 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Jake Hargrove |
As a standard action, I can attempt to intimidate. I was not even considering the AoO, other than possibly smacking her on the head for nonletal damage like you did. I was assuming that my grabbing her and intimidate was occurring as we tied her up as soon as she awoke. If that, does not work, then please apply my action after the AoOs are complete.
GM Sloth |
She doesn't seem stunned by the power coming from your blow, but this attempt of her reeks of desperation. However, the impact of Daimonji's blow is massive and jostles her greatly.
The crit actually confirmed, since she's prone and tied.
1d20 + 6 - 4 - 15 ⇒ (14) + 6 - 4 - 15 = 1
Her one last attempt to cause harm and get away fails miserably from Daimonji's counter. As she falls back to the ground, she looks up at both Jake and Tiasar while they speak, holding nothing but contempt in her eyes.
"You all were supposed to die. How can ignorant buffoons like you, that set off my simple trap at the warehouse, beat me? Ugh. Please, kill me. I refuse to go to prison. My mission is too important to let rot behind bars. Just kill me now and be done with it."
She is no longer resisting anymore. Off in the distance, the sounds of men are heading in your direction from the warehouse. It seems the Graycloaks are entering the God's Market. As they approach, one of them is dressed in the garb of a captain. He is easily recognized as Captain Runewulf the Unbeliever.
"What is the meaning of this!?" He bellows about 100 feet away. "Why have you set fire to a warehouse in my district and then fled the scene?"
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
Hrolf stows his wand and intercepts the angry captain.
"The meaning? The meaning of this is that the Graycloaks have a murderer in their midst that has been killing Pathfinders to see her own ends fulfilled and worse, she does it for coin. This woman has been killing, robbing, and selling the relics she steals on the black market. We have extensive paperwork proving all of this, as well as those that were aiding her."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
"I suggest you swallow your foolish pride and do what you can to help clean this mess up while we deal with this murderer. Unless you'd prefer word of how the Graycloaks had a traitor among them, unknown, to reach the people of Absalom."
GM Sloth |
Runewulf stops and becomes silent as he takes in the meaning of Hrolf's strong words. After a few moments, he slowly begins to walk forward again, but lacking the angry march in his movement.
"Is that, is that Parani up there? But, Parani has been one of our most ambitious and excellent recruits. It's hard to believe. But if you say you have proof, come down and show me. I must see this for myself."
Parani remains silent, simply looking down throughout the exchange.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
I'm not sure who's carrying all of the contents of the lockbox but assuming Hrolf has at least some of it...
Hrolf slips his spear into the harness on his back and retrieves a bundle of papers from his pack.
He jabs them at the commander in fierce silence.
Daimonji |
"Sorry, but you don't get to pick 'n choose," the green-skinned tiefling grunts, though he's starting to regain his usual skin hue.
Daimonji glances down, seeing Hrolf deal with the arriving Graycloaks, and his eyes actually go wider at the sight. "I say we're done here. Let's come clean with them, turn her in 'n report back to Grandmaster Torch."
Daimonji |
"You still got that arrow from the alehouse?" Daimonji unceremoniously shouts at Hrolf from the rooftop. "It's prob'ly gonna match the ones she's been usin'!"
He glances back at the tied-up Parani and the rest of the group, pondering the minutiae of getting her down from the rooftop.
