It's the word secondary that gives me the feeling it's an exception. If it was the primary attack in a spring attack, then the sentence structure is all wrong. But since you've all surrounded it, it's moot at this point.
Ferabras cuts and bites into the little old man, tasting salty blood on his lips as he does!
Zolarus, Mikhail and Hoshiko are up!
Mikail the Nimble

Mikail, still under the cover of his spell, steps forward and stabs the redcap with his rapier.

Ferabras, Zolarus, Mikail and Hoshiko are up!

I held my breath on that possible crit. A scythe is a nasty, nasty crit. X4, with a guaranteed 30 additional damage plus 6d4... Wow.

Mikail the Nimble
|
Mikail dodges the kick sent his way, but seeing his friends get hit so hard and so often is too much for Mikail. The tip of his rapier drops as his mind races for another option. Suddenly, his eyes light up and he grabs for his belt, where hangs a curious almost forgotten bag. He lobs it through the air at the devilish thing before him, and smiles as the bag hits and explodes in a mess of sticky fibers.

Soren's first arrow sinks into the old man, but he cackles and raises his scythe. The second strikes him dead in the heart and he looks down for a moment at the cold iron sticking out of him.
"Well, that's a cursed thing, isn't it?" He asks in a bewildered voice as he falls to the ground, his blood leaking out in a puddle on the floor.
Combat over! The little old man fey is bleeding out.
There's a single door in the south wall.

Moving along with the fey interrogation.
The little old man comes awake with a sudden snort, looking about and struggling against the bonds. "Poop." He says with another snort.
"Secrets? I can tell you what a unicorn's liver tastes like and what the Queen of Air and Darkness wears under that dress. I can tell you at what age a child's tears taste the sweetest and when to cut a devil's throat. But I smell that you want secrets about this place. And I have precious few, god-speaker. I came here from the First World, child, but that portal closed and stranded me here. I dwell in this room, but I go up the stairs sometimes to see if the door's been unlocked. Beyond this room lies the mirror-place, where the reflections watch you back. The room beyond the mirrors turns my stomach; it's got no proper up nor down you know. It bothers me much to pass through there, so I did it once and now I stand, bound by fools. So there's my secrets, laddie. They're all I have left."
Ferabras
|
Awesome post, GM - I love the various ways he describes the horrible things he's done - 'at what age a child's tears taste the sweetest'! Grim and brilliant.
"Not to worry, you won't have to bear any more secrets, nor anything else," Fera says, before raising his cold iron blade and slicing through the redcap's neck, taking the evil little creature's head clean off. He kicks the disgusting cap into a dark corner for good measure, then says, "I hope you were done talking to him, because I couldn't bear to hear him speak another evil word. Now, how about we heal up and see what's beyond this door?"
He draws his healing wand from his belt and gives himself a couple of taps with it.

Very well done, both to GM and to Ferabras. Very gritty, but no more than I would hope would have happened!"
Mikail stays silent through the interrogation and the resulting punishment. He doesn't like it, but he is worldly enough to understand it as well. Once the creature is taken care of, he returns to his inspection of the door.

"You disgust me..." Hoshiko comments and then moves away from the evil-fey...
good post, i will have to remember those comments for future use
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
The little man's body decomposes in quick-time, leaving nothing behind but a pile of foul smelling earth, a red cap and a battered scythe behind. None of the items seem magical or even well-made.
Mikail heads to the door, moving quietly and carefully. He checks it, finding nothing sinister and opens it. The room beyond is indeed covered in mirrors!
The walls, floors, and ceiling of this half-moon-shaped room are covered in hundreds of mirrors of all shapes and sizes, some still intact, but most broken. To the north is a beige stone door built into the wall; the southern wall sports two milk-white stone doors of a similar design.
Mikail immediately gets a sense of being watched from this room, where his reflection stares back from every direction. But he also catches the slightest hint of movement out of the corner of his eye. He turns his head, but sees nothing more than himself.
Ferabras
|
"Well, it seems that bloodthirsty little fey's last act wasn't to lie to us, this is certainly a mirror room," Ferabras comments, trying to look in all directions at once but seeing nothing more than his own reflection.
He opts to rely on another sense, reaching out with his ability to detect the presence of evil before suggesting, "Let's get past this place, see what the room with no up or down is all about." As he crosses the room, he wonders aloud, "Who do you suppose broke all those mirrors, and why?"
Detect evil, then move to southwest door.
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
You detect no evil in the room. However, I need everyone to make a Perception check for me.
The southwest door opens easily. This lengthy hallway winds around a circular set of chambers accessible via two doors on the south side of the circle. More stone doors line the outer wall of this tunnel, one of which appears to be stuck open and has various chunks of debris littered around it. Illumination seems to come from far away, floating shafts of variously colored light.
Mikail the Nimble
|
Mikail tentatively follows Ferabras into the room.. nerves finally unlocking his chatterbox tendencies. The last few missions have been pretty rough on the happy go lucky little kitsune.
"So.. I get this weird feeling.. like something out of the corner of my eye, but it vanishes whenever I turn my head. Speaking of my head, does this room make anyone else's head hurt? It makes my head hurt.. almost as much as that sap that Zolarus smacked me with.."
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
The room is quiet and despite your searching eyes, you see nothing of interest here.
Ferabras
|
Ferabras pauses before heading into the long, curving hallway ahead, asking, "Everyone ready? What a strange place this is."
Just some flavor while waiting to see if Zolarus noticed anything important.
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Zolarus seems to freeze, his eyes darting from mirror to mirror, a disturbing look on his face.
Mikail the Nimble

Mikail stops mid rant and scrutinizes his friend. "Zolarus?? Are you ok? What's wrong?"

Zolarus
|
Snapping out of suspended state, he replies.
I see an elven woman is standing in the background of every mirror in the room. She is elderly and frail looking, but beautiful. I ssssuggest we talk to her or quickly break the mirrorssss.
Ferabras
|
Fera pauses in the doorway and looks back into the mirrored room, wondering what the heck Zolarus is talking about. "You see her in every mirror? Does she look like she means us harm? Perhaps she's trapped in there?"
He moves next to Zolarus and asks the nagaji to point out the woman, calling out to her, "Hello in the mirror! We can see you! We mean you no harm, if you are of good heart! Are you in the mirrors against your will?"
He glances at Zolarus and shrugs, with just the hint of a raised, black eyebrow, as if to say, Is that how you talk to an elf trapped in a mirror?
Diplomacy, if applicable: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Ferabras (and the others, if they wish) follow Zolarus's description and sure enough, they can see the woman in the background of every mirror, simply standing. As much as Ferabras tries, she doesn't seem to respond to you, but her face seems to be distorting, changing.
In the matter of seconds a demonic visage stares back at you from every mirror, suddenly filling the mirrors!
And then it's gone.
Mikail the Nimble

With this new terror firmly planted within Mikail nightmares, he turns for the door and movas as fast as his furry little legs will carry him.

There are several exits from the mirror rooms. They are N, NE, E, S, and W, using the cardinal points. The NE door is the one that had strange colored lights coming from it.

Where do I run?: 1d5 ⇒ 4
Sorry was on Mobile and couldnt see the updates on the map.
Mikail moves quickly towards the southern door, and pops it open without even thinking twice. He ducks through, hoping that this door isn't worse than the last...
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Sorry, missed a room! Before you can go south, we have another strange room to get through.
As soon as Mikail rushes from the mirror room, he moves into another circular room that seems to surround this central area.
The worst part is when he suddenly feels like the floor falls out from beneath him! He floats without any sense of up or down, unable to move as he spins in midair with nothing to push against! Knowledge Planes!
Even stranger is the odd creature you see watching you from the north. This strange fish-thing seems to swim though the air like water. It regards you with its four eyes, looking terrified as you burst through the door.
Ferabras
|
Ferabras scowls at the demonic face, taking a menacing step towards one of the images before it disappears. When Mikail darts out the door, the tiefling doesn't hesitate to follow him, calling out, "Mikail, there is nothing to fear!"
Arriving in the strange, floaty room, Ferabras' calm cracks a bit as he flails about trying to restore his equilibrium. Spotting the fish-thing, he does his best to calm his movements, lest he appear to threaten the creature. Rotating slowly to an upside-down position, he says pleasantly, "Hello, who are you?"
