"Well, that was exciting." Peri says, with a mild sardonic tone.
"So, now that Ceren's safe, where to next? I think we've got Radaszam and Fitch left to talk with? I'm game for either," the gnome says, clearly ready to get moving.

![]() |

Monty looks at the details on Radaszam and Fitch, "Radaszam is closer, Fitch appears to be out in the Armada. It makes sense to me to clean up what's on station first."

![]() |

"That plus me makes three. Shall we?" the gnome says, actually cracking a hint of a smile at their rhyming.

As the team heads towards the meeting with Radaszam, a rudimentary courier moves up to them. "Starfinders?" it queries. When it detects their implants, a compartment opens up. Inside is a standard datajack, and a credstik with 100 credits. There is also a frostbite-class zero rifle. A simple electronic (text) message says, 'These are tokens of thanks from the Dataphiles. The rifle is something the Ceren found lying around. Please use them appropriately. Historia-7'

The plain white doors of the office slide open to reveal a stark, dimly lit room. The chamber is bleak and expressionless in its emptiness—no vanities line its smooth black walls, and no signs of use mar its smooth black furniture. The only occupants of the suite are a bug-eyed tadpole wriggling in a glowing blue aquarium and a reptilian vesk seated behind an onyx desk. The vesk gestures to a number of chairs in front of him, his features sharply illuminated by the light of his desk’s green holoscreen. “The new graduates,” he greets, in a low and pleasant voice. “Good day. I am Radaszam, though since you are here, I should hope you already knew.
“I trust you are aware of our Society’s traditions, so I will cut to the point. I have a minor situation that needs resolution. One of our members, a human named Laboni, had a rather public altercation with a junk scavenger from the Spike. You might be more familiar with the scavenger than I, actually; he is a ysoki who fancifully calls himself Ratrod. I am told he runs a popular racing competition that has, hmm, several hundreds of thousands of viewers on the station’s infosphere. For some reason, Laboni felt the need to tell him that any ‘real’ mechanic could easily beat the garbage that Ratrod and his associates slap together. Now that Ratrod has issued an infosphere-wide demand that she race him and prove it, Laboni doubts she can back that claim up.
“Embarrassing, isn’t it? Not really the sort of troublemaker that suits our Society. Perhaps she would be better suited to the bottom of a trash compactor... Well, we cannot afford to throw her out, not after so many Starfinders were lost in the Scoured Stars. Besides, we can’t let people think we are so weak that we can’t control our own members, or that we cannot stand up to a scrapyard junker. No, I would like you to assist Laboni in winning this race. Show our detractors that even the least of our Society is not someone to be trifled with.”
You can see Radaszam on slide #4

Monty face-palms by the end of it. "A diplomatic nightmare. Only one way out of this, across the finish line with chin up. Have we been able to attract any corporate sponsors during the build up to the race?"

![]() |

Lira smiles brightly. "I love junk racing. It's a great rest day diversion. We get to work on a junk racer. How fun. We'll do our best to make sure the Starfinder Society comes out looking good."

![]() |

To Monty, The Dealmaker replies, "Well, you see, it is like this. These are not actually sanctioned races, don't you know, so getting sponsorship is a little hard. Besides, once you see the racers, you'll understand a little more. They ain't pretty, and they ain't shiny. Neither are the drivers, if you know what I mean.
"So, no. No corporate sponsorships."

![]() |

Monty nods, "I know what you mean, we'll blend in and get it done."
Already to go too fast and too furious on this!

![]() |

"So we're going to go there, help our colleague get their head out of their butt, help them build up their racers, and beat the pants off of Ratrod? Sounds interesting. Do you want us to do anything with Laboni after?" the gnome asks.

![]() |

"Ratrod isn't my favorite racer. He's got quite the rig though. Laboni wasn't smart to run her mouth. I hope we can help her out enough to win." Lira is almost bouncing withe excitement at getting to see a race live.
Ready to head out.

![]() |

"I don' like it," Ivan groans after leaving Radaszam, having kept silent throughout the briefing. "This lizard is shady, as is th' rest of this racing thing. But we'll power through."

![]() |

When you arrive at the competitors’ entrance, a small robot informs them of the basic rules of the race: racers and their pit crews are to build and improve their vehicles from the available scrap around the racetrack. Vehicles built at previous junk races can return. Racers can fire upon other competitors during the race, but firing into the audience is grounds for immediate disqualification; racer weapons must be nonlethal and may affect only opponents’ vehicles.
You easily find Laboni, due to her paisley clothes and white lab coat. She is a young human, in her late teens. "Hi! Are you the Starfinders that Radaszam said to expect? My name is Laboni, and I fear that I let the excitement of the race, and trying to impress my superiors, overcome me!"

Then she tries to sabotage it.
engineering: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
uggh, that could have gone a lot better...

Monty wipes sweat off his brow with a large flippery hand. "This is a small work space, I almost think we should file an ergonomic complaint. I'm going to get some air, look around.."
He leaves the pit and approaches.. 1d4 ⇒ 1 LemGem!
Diplomacy, : 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
"I like your racer, you're sure packing a lot of heat! I hear that Laboni is racing today too, she'd probably be a great ally to team up with.." he muses aloud to the gnome.

![]() |

Peri is going to give up on the engines for the moment, and start fussing with the racer controls. "Well, if I can't tune the engines, surely the handling can be adjusted!"
Computers to boost piloting: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
"Great, looks like we can fine tune these a bit more!"

"hmmm, I may not be the smartest, but Im not a half-bad pilot. And armor and weapons are great for survival, but races are won with SPEED!"
just gonna roll my next three rounds, if that's okay, since I've been infrequent with the posting lately.

"I like your racer, you're sure packing a lot of heat! I hear that Laboni is racing today too, she'd probably be a great ally to team up with.." he muses aloud to the gnome.
Monty is able to strike up a conversation with the blue-haired gnome who is covered in piercings, tattoos, and augmentations. A short conversation reveals she is obsessed with continual alterations to herself and her racer, to the point where her vehicle modifications skirt the bounds of common sense.
"Heya, dude, what's happening? Ain't seen one of your kind around here lately. Heck, I ain't never seen one of your kind! LemGem's the name, and racing is my game. Yeah, I gots a pretty hot little number here... but why would I wanna team up?"
Monty SM: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
You failed the check...

As Lira is thinking of sneaking in to sabotage Velocity's racer, she sees Twich being forcibly led out of the pits by a large vesk man. As he shoves her violently out of the junkyard, he bellows, "And if I see you, or any of your pit crew mucking around other racers' pit areas, your whole team is gonna be eliminated!"
Lira, you sure you want to try sabotage?

Monty: Talked to LemGem
Peri: piloting (20)

"I'm Monty, and yeah us Morlamaw's are just starting to spread out into the Pact Worlds. And, come on! Because we're the best! I mean, check out these matching suits we got." Monty absently replies to LemGm, utterly unaware of any subtle messages. After some more friendly conversation he moves on.

![]() |

Nope don't want to get kicked out. I'll keep the stealth and engineering rolls, but use the roll to study the racer instead of sabotaging it.
Lira moves up to the racer as she's heading there she notices Twich getting kicked out of the pits. That's not good. Instead of sabotaging she decides to take a good hard look at the Velocity's racer.
"Nice racer there. How's it run?

![]() |

If Twich is able to get back to Laboni's pit, she decides she had better stay there. She uses any remaining actions to try to improve Laboni's piloting.

Monty heads back to the vehicle and continues trying to aid in Laboni's success.
Physical Science to Improve Piloting Modifier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
"I, this is just nothing like our vehicles back home. Why can't this be a submarine race?"
Just trash, trash rolls everywhere.

![]() |

Peri, it sounds like you want to talk to Velocity, instead of just check out his racer?
Velocity is a beautiful android with silver hair and skin. They have self-modified to have both masculine and feminine attributes, and have decorated their clothing, eyelids, and lips with bright, colorful patterns.
"While it seems to be a decent racer, I have never managed to win a race. My racer's speed just doesn't match up with my name, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make it go faster." says the android in a 'matter of fact' tone.

Twich: Caught sneaking! [rd3 pilot 11][rd4 pilot 14]
Next round will start as soon as Lira's interactions are done

![]() |

"I could take a look if you'd like me to. I hate to see someone try so hard, and not get close to a win. I've been working on Laboni's racer, but I think we've got her covered. Just as long as Ratrod doesn't win ya know." She gives Velocity a bright smile.

![]() |

"So," asks the android, "You can help me fix my racer's speed problem?"
Lira SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
Nope. Nothing!

![]() |

"Sure let me see what I can do." Lira sticks her head under the hood and tinkers for a while. She humms and mutters tossing out pieces and moving stuff around.
I had previously rolled 19 on Engineering. She will actually try to make the racer faster.

![]() |

Lira works to make Velocity's racer faster, and succeeds!
"Thank you, Lira. I appreciate the help." says Velocity in the strange deadpan that androids tend to use. "I will make sure that I will take second place to Laboni, and I will use my weapon against anyone that is ahead of Laboni. I can always win the next race."
