So there are no maps for buildings in the colony, so we'll be doing everything here old-school. If you describe a reasonable action, I'll make it work. :)

Gervase Goldhawk |

There is no Thanksgiving holiday in Australia.
And pumpkin pie is pretty much unheard of.
However, an American I worked with brought some pumpkin pie his wife had made into the office a few years’ back.
Everyone enjoyed it!

Next thanksgiving I'll mail you a pumpkin pie. :P
Wait a minute, Le gasp! No thanksgiving, No dry turkey sandwiches with extra mayo and leftover cranberry sauce and stuffing? Bad enough everything in australia wants you dead, you don't even get to comfort yourself with thanksgiving sandwiches? Next you'll tell me you don't have eggnog for christmas!.

Gilstrom Noblewater |

The horrors!
Although my turkey sandwiches are -never- dry. Hurmph.
Also I'm Canadian so Thanksgiving is in October. I think Australia's harvest season since you have the gall to live in a climate warm enough to grow stuff year round.

Gervase Goldhawk |

Are you a farmer, Gilstrom? We have visited good friends in eastern BC during their summer. Beautiful country!
As for our climate, let’s see … last Christmas Day the weather was fine and sunny, with a minimum of 18°C and maximum of 28°C (I’m talking + values, Gilstrom! ;)
For my American friends, that’s 64 - 82 Fahrenheit.
Egg nog is certainly consumed here over Christmas. Some people lace it with dark rum.
Unfortunately, I don’t like it much – sorry if that means we can no longer be friends ;)
Bad enough everything in australia wants you dead
Lily would like this one! I give you the Blue-ringed octopus.

Lily Freefield |

Ah Canada, would love to live in Canada, love the cold, instead I'm stuck in Ohio where the weather is determined by a coin flip. Haven't visited Canada proper since my grandfather used to take me fishing up there as a kid.
And it's okay if you don't like Eggnog, so long as you have access to it at least it's your own heathen ways and not deprivation that keeps you from enjoying it. :P
As for your tentacle friend, Lily would be simultaneously blushing and screaming in terror, and when people ask me "Why do you live where everything is frozen!" I can just point to your continent and general and go "At least everything that wants me dead up where it's cold will go about it fair with claw and teeth!" :P I'd love to visit someday, but I'd be terrified of the wildlife.

Gilstrom Noblewater |

I am not, although I live in a tiny agricultural town in north Alberta. And the weather here is coin-flippy too, I think it's related to being so landlocked. We've gone from uh... (translates to heathen American) 30 to mid-70s F in a few days before.

Gervase Goldhawk |

While I certainly respect all our wildlife, the "everything’s out to kill you" stuff is honestly a little overblown.
In our regional/rural areas you are more likely to be injured after hitting a cow or roo with your car than by getting "poisoned by a platypus."
I will make an exception for Drop Bears though. Those things ARE KILLERS!!

GM Rinaldo |

Oh my, that first pic is so pathetic! Poor little adorable frenzied-murderer! :)

Gervase Goldhawk |

Here are a couple more ...
Aqueros, the Golden Bulwark for Arcilde, and
Halcamora, Lady of Ripe Bounty for Lily

Lily Freefield |

Great picture! I like the Lords better than I do the primary gods by a long shot, though I find it frustrating that you can only take the mystery cultist prestige class with them and not the evangelist or sentinel. Especially since, as far as I know, evangelist is the only prestige class in pathfinder that stacks with kineticist or other psychic classes.
And no, I did not just pick Halcamora for the "Ripe Bounty" jokes that can be aimed at Lily for her devotion to the goddess. :P

Gervase Goldhawk |

**Additions to the loot sheet**
• masterwork chain shirt
• masterwork machetes (2) .. light, martial slashing weapon, d6 (19-20, x2) damage
• +1 buckler (?)
Gervase can’t power attack with the machetes, so I don’t need either of them.
She also two-hands her weapons, so she doesn’t need the buckler.
If the chain shirt is masterwork, I am interested in that. But honestly, the only upgrade it gives to Gervase’s current armor is the -1 to Armor Check Penalty. So if someone else wants it – go for it!

Lily Freefield |

Well, Machetes do give a +1 survival check to clear through, so Lily will take one for the bonus and just thematically say she's using her power to get said bonus.
Also, mind if I lament how hard it is to find a stronger looking woman for a picture for Lily? Especially in a farmer getup? All the girls I can find are flipping twigs. Lily has a 18 Con darn it, she should have some curves! (Yes I know it's not a direct correlation, just how I imagine things) Closest thing I can find to how I imagine Lily is Hilda, but as a pinup girl they never put her in anything like a farmers outfit.

GM Rinaldo |

Don't forget to add to the loot sheet the 40 arrowheads. Gervase's Craft (bow) skill will allow her to make them into arrows if you find some suitable shafts, which shouldn't be too hard on the island.

Gilstrom Noblewater |

Gilstrom can use the chain shirt for the ACP reduction but it's not a desperate need or anything. I can pass on it :)

Gervase Goldhawk |

“It starts when you begin to overlook good manners. Any time you quit hearing Sir and Mam the end is pretty much in sight ...”
The first thought I had when Lily ‘no countried’ the monkey-gobs was that movie … Great minds, yadda yadda :)
The scene with Chigurh in the gas station was so … CHILLS
☆ $ ☠
Gilstrom, do you want to toss me for the chain shirt?
“What’s the most you ever lost on a coin toss?”

GM Rinaldo |

Gilstrom, do you want to toss me for the chain shirt?
How I have an image of Gilstrom picking Gervase up over his head and saying, "If I throw you further than your own height, I win!"

Gervase Goldhawk |

Gervase *gasps* “Surely you do not support the return of the barbaric practise of human-tossing??”
“That and ‘human-bowling’ are banned in all five continental states – except Darkmoon Vale.”

Gilstrom Noblewater |

What with all the No County For Old Men-style intimidation, I think I can gracefully let you have the shirt. :D Gilstrom can hold out for some sort of super magic amazing thing and will be all "Remember when I let you have that chain shirt without a fight? You OWE me this +4 vorpal rat flail."

Gervase Goldhawk |

I am prepared to go up to a +3 keen DIRE rat flail without an argument, but once vorpal is on the table, all deals are off!
GM Rinaldo, we only play in your universe. You have the power to make VORPAL RAT DIRE FLAILS HAPPEN!!!
PS: Should I admit I read rat flail initially as rat tail?
Didn’t think so …

Gilstrom Noblewater |

My understanding of the rat flail is that it's a stick with a chain and then a large, extremely perturbed rat tied to the end. Or the chain is the rat's tail. I mean, the sky is the limit.
The rat o'nine tails is even better though.

GM Rinaldo |

No worries. You have an immediate action to escape the grapple, plus a full round available.

Lily Freefield |

Hey GM, curious, are we doing milestone level up or EXP level up? And if EXP level up... should we be keeping track of it, or are you? If Milestone, don't suppose clearing out the town was enough. ;)

GM Rinaldo |

Milestone, and you're not actually done checking out the colony yet. There's the whole "outside the wall" section still.

GM Rinaldo |

Thanks for asking - we are in Redmond, on the east side of Lake Washington directly across from Seattle. We were thankfully nowhere near the accident or its aftermath, and as far as we have heard none of our friends were either.

Gilstrom Noblewater |

Whew. Good to hear - that's derailment is terrifying.

Gervase Goldhawk |

Agreed. Glad you and yours are OK.
GM Rinaldo, I did suggest an end around the main farmland via the beach to sneak up through the light jungle on the rear of the southern-most farmhouse (the one with the well out the front).
However, if my fellow Talmandor’s Bountyneers would prefer to follow the ✩-footprints towards a closer farm, I’m OK with that too :)
Also! In the interests of preventing Gervase dying of ignorance, can you please confirm I have her hp total correct?

GM Rinaldo |

You were at 2/12, gained 3 from Arcilde's spell, 4 overnight, and 1 from treat deadly wounds, so 10/12 is correct starting the new day.
Arcilde was at 2/11, gained 4+1, so is at 7/11 starting the new day.
Gilstrom and Lily are fully healed.

Arcilde |

(Stupid site has eaten two of my posts. I'll try again later.)
Short version:
Arcilde was going to reset her spells to "research" mode: Guidance (in place of resistance) and Comprehend Languages x2.
Do you guys have a light source? If not, Arcilde can prep that instead of Create Water.
If we found a couple of potions, Arcilde will burn another scroll of cure light on herself before heading out.
Arcilde votes for following the star tracks, but she's not committed either way.

GM Rinaldo |

Arcilde and I are getting on a plane at 6am to fly to Texas to visit my family. I'll try to check in late afternoon.
Gervase suggested coming at the isolated farmhouse (the one with the well) from the jungle; Arcilde votes for following the tracks south from colony square; and Gilstrom wants to approach from the west. If you guys come to an agreement before I next check, I'll go with it. If not, I'll flip a coin and get things moving. :-)

Arcilde |

Arcilde burns the last of her cure light scrolls before the group heads out.
Also, since no one mentioned needing a light source, she left her last orison slot as create water today.
Cure light scroll: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
That brings her up to full.

Gervase Goldhawk |

It’s forecast to be a sunny 32°C/90°F here today.
The Goldhawk children are (unbelievably) still asleep, giving me the chance to wish you all a Happy Christmas!

Gilstrom Noblewater |

Merry Christmas to you all.
Incidentally it is currently -30 C here. Woo!

GM Rinaldo |

Oh, you zany canucks with your negative temperatures. :-)
Happy Holiday to everyone!

GM Rinaldo wrote:Which way would you like to go next? One vote for the swell well dwelling!
Technically, I think that's your fourth vote for the well. (But the first time you called it "swell" so that's something.) :-)
Well, I guess we can go to the swell little dwelling with the jewel of a well... Is there a wall near the well?
(Happy holidays, everyone!)

Oooh! The Harrowing! I'm gonna GM that as soon as my current group finishes the module their on, I'm excited to run it. I LOVE harrow stuff, even have a character completely designed around it and taking the harrow prestige class. Plus, I love breaking out the deck whenever I can at games.
