In the iron gods pbp we have used ranged aid another, but I think the issue here is that I stated Ulfgar was grappling and it doesn't mention a ranged help option; although I fail to see how Anka's flare couldn't help in this situation. It could also hinder me as well depending on how Ridge chooses to rule on it. I think the second grapple should work sans the gnome putting me down with his dagger with his second AoO.
As far as initiative, seems about half the time in PbP groups I get asked to roll for it and the other half once combat is initiated the GM rolls and post the order. I am fine with either option, please advise.

As far as weapons go, while I totally understand not carrying weapons into someone's home on an occasion like this, most of my experience with Underdark/Darklands worlds has had a Wild West vibe where pretty much everyone is armed pretty much all the time. I know it's weird me arguing against a coup when one of the first comments Anka made regarding the Gnome king was almost as far from salutatory as you can get, but we don't really know how much of Geirny's incompetence is induced. If he had/'listened to' better advisers he might make a quite acceptable ally.
