Its just as easy to claim we can be sheriffs and judges as it is to claim we are executioners. The charter gives us latitude to interpret the violations under law, which Harsk interprets as a latitude in authority. Not to mention that but we can add divine law into this mix if you want to really complicate it.
As to just release or execution, all I can say is how limited! We can compel them to service, oaths, or any manner or other arrangement. This is not a polar option and HArks certainly has some idea of his own for those that are "Sorry".
Ultimately we are not the bearers of Brevish law in the way that you mean, true. What I meant to imply is that we carried some notion of that societies laws with us. That is to say we have latitude to interpret our role specifically but I would imagine, in our current arrangement we would not abandon the legal principles of our people completely. So yeah, some of these guys might hang but it might be nice to put others to good use if we can.
To this end Harsk finds it fine to to put together an ad hoc group to weigh the bandits stories and intentions and basically vote or debate about what to do with them. Dead bandits make for poor converts and they are not so evil that the evil can't be beaten or sweated out of them.
Harsk is asking Haldaval to stay his anger and talk to the group out of earshot of the bandits. I think the paladin and the inquisitor can see eye to eye on that yes? Professional courtesy and all that?
Tityanna Medvyed
aye, hence my hesitance to proceed. I was going to post something to the effect of "maybe one of you should talk to the paladin since he doesn't seem to enjoy my company" but figured that Harsk would just get upset.
brain is starting its slow cycle back on...

Well, that and my KM group is exposition heavy as of late, and I do like to give myself a few hours between posting as a GM and a character to minimize the temptation to meta. Luckily my group is well ahead at this point.
I will post once I have some tea in me.

Hm, maybe I'm misreading. Are you looking to Ray for support or as a mitigatory between you and Hadaval when he posts?
I was actually think you were going to ask someone else to talk to Hadaval alone, but that might be because I forgot Harsk wanting the group to discuss things together. It's been one of those days.

Man, writing bandits really takes it out of me. Especially as my party has no paladin to let them know that they're all evil (although the way I play em most of em are pretty ambiguous as well, but I'm not letting my party save everyone, either. Some just don't want to be saved).
Barely-Adequate Thrush
A large, bleary-eyed thrush ambles down the corridors of the OOC thread, its claws clacking on the floor with each step. A cigarette dangles out of its beak, and it carries a plus-sized mug of steaming coffee in one wing (poorly, as it has no hands).
It dips its beak into the coffee, takes a deep pull of the life-giving wake-up juice, and wipes a dribble from its beak as it regards Haldaval. "Please, sir, have a seat. Stay awhile. We're going to have ourselves an . . . understanding before the morning's through."
It ruffles its feathers, coughs into a wing, and continues. "So, what's this about having a life outside of play-by-post, eh friend?" It makes a show of cracking its knuckles ominously, realizes it has no knuckles, and settles for a threatening chirp.
Barely-Adequate Thrush aside, it's cool if you can't always post the same amount every day. I fully expect any one of us to have other things to do, from time to time. ;)
P.S.: The thrush apologizes profusely if this thread is a non-smoking zone.

Ah, yeah. Only slightly in advance, and I know that weekends are rather slow anyway, but I'm driving into LA to visit with my family for the last hurrah before I go back home and will likely be unavailable to post between noonish and late Saturday evening PST.

It's quite alright, Hu5tru. Enjoy your family-visit! :)
Random: My family's in Northern California (where I'm originally from); I'm visiting them toward the end of the month (with my wife and baby girl). I haven't visited my state of origin in . . . 4 years, now. I don't live in Scandinavia, though (you're in Norway, right?); just smack-dab in the middle of the States.
Tityanna Medvyed
Not yet in Norway, but that's the master plan. My husband is a national, and disabled and therefore requires the social welfare program there.
My dad's family is in No. Cal, scattered about the greater San Jose area and Sacramento. I've driven as far as Humboldt once, but can't say I'm familiar with stuff much north of Sacramento, not that there is all that much beyond Chico and Redding...
Used to dream of living in Pleasanton. *laughs* Small town USA within comfortable driving distance to San Jose, and there's a Ferrari dealership downtown. Or was...

My mother is in the hospital until tomorrow morning after emergency surgery to have her appendix removed. I'm a bit scattered, but will be following if you guys continue. I think we can assume that Ray, Haldaval and Tityanna will be present at the interrogation without RPing them walking out of the stables.

Well I wanted to ask the Leveton's to participate anyway and give Ray and Malaswyn a chance to say something in that context. I figured I could get away with a couple of assumptive posts today without getting to far afield of you and halpm since I know you guys have a sick mom and projects respectively.
GM Rhys Grey
Yes, Hu5tru, I hope that your mom's recovery is perfect. Don't fret about the small stuff (PbP).
That said, I guess I was kind of curious how you wanted me to proceed. I think I'll start an interrogation with Happs (and have Oleg/Svetlana chime in, since y'all think that would be helpful). I'll start soon, if it's okay with everyone.
GM Rhys Grey
Hey, all. I apologize for my absence; some craziness arose that required my attention, and left me temporarily without a computer. I'm back, now, and am ready to proceed.
Haldaval, it's cool if you're busy (I understand that, believe me). We'll just do what we can to progress things. It's all good! :)
Alrighty, then! :)

My mother's appendix ruptured and did some damage, but she's all fixed up. She was supposed to be released yesterday but her blood pressure was too low. Shooting for this morning, but my brother and his family (my two nephews who are 5 and 3 years old) are coming for a visit, today. It's going to be chaotic till it's not.
GM Rhys Grey
Well, I almost finished my project. I will try to start posting more again tomorrow, but it might still be slow for a day or two.
You know what's funny: the reason I couldn't post was for some random personal-life stuff that cropped up. I felt that my reasons were not relevant, until I looked at them through "normal" glasses, so to speak.
In other words, I think all of us have some pretty serious stuff happening that kept us from continuing here for a few days, and we like to beat ourselves up about it.
I'm finally telling myself: dude, it's okay.
Halplm, it's totally cool. ;)

It always amazed me when we played as a RL group that some people picked up Kressle as a companion. I always wondered "why?" Then someone wrote a story about her and Akiros being lovers... and it made me sick to my stomach.
The AP assumes that you can spare Akiros and he'd be useful to you, because he hasn't lost his soul yet. Kressle was just a beast. I know a man has needs and all that, but freaking Kressle? Sheesh.
