For the record, I really think that we should always refer to the pony as:

Puck the Wonder Pony™

At the very least in the OOC thread.

I feel good about the skill ruling, cue up the PC on PC training montage!

All right! I think we've determined that the party's overland speed is 20 for the time being, so now that I've got that down I suppose I can go ahead and start the IC thread. *nervous chuckle*

At times, I'll post information in spoilers with a skill and DC listed (usually Knowledge skills, Perception, stuff like that). Go ahead and make the appropriate roll if you'd like, and if your DC succeeds, read the spoiler. (We'll be using the honor system.)

Feel free to attempt rolls besides that; I just think that, sometimes, it might help things along.

Everybody ready? Let's go! *yay!*

P.S.: I approve of the pony's moniker. ;)

EDIT: Wait--do we have a pony and a mule? Didn't Ray buy one (a mule, that is)?

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

Yes, I bought a pony because... girls love ponies! They're docile and they can run if they're threatened in a fight. Contemplated spending the extra 15 gold to get him combat trained, but that would leave me totally broke.

Anyone else have thoughts on this? Including the GM?

Edit
I will endeavor to craft an appropriate introduction after I have eaten. But, expect one this evening.

Well, I think you shouldn't get the pony combat-trained unless you're planning on Puck going into battle. That's an easy way to get Puck pulverized into putrid paste!

No problem, take your time on the intro.

I was asking if there was a mule and a pony because--in my original posting in the IC thread--I wrote "donkeys"; I quickly changed it to "mule" (you'll see the context).

Enjoy dinner! We (my lovely wife and I) will be eating soon, too.

So have we been traveling together, or are we meeting at Oleg's?

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

Yeah, I was kinda wondering that as well, as I looked at the post. Being a social character, the "you're here" is kinda jarring.

I think I will be working on my intro in word and posting it sometime later... perhaps tonight, but no later than tomorrow afternoon.

Haldaval wrote:

You've been traveling together. How well you all know each other beyond that is up to you.

Although the charter was signed on the 24th of Calistril, I thought it'd be better if the group left near the end of Gozran (so that spring thaw has kicked in; things might get dicey if I expose you all to freezing cold in the wilderness at 1st level!).

I'm sorry if it was jarring. I wasn't aware you wanted to come up with more of a background for how your characters knew each other. Maybe I shouldn't have posted anything yet . . .

If you'd like, don't post in the IC thread until you all decide how you know each other. I'll answer any questions you may have regarding the charter, Restov, etc. Deal?

EDIT: I'm sorry I jumped the gun (too excited, I guess).

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

Well, as a GM, I know that there is a section there that states, "If your PCs do not know each other, they can meet in the market square at Olegs." We could use that as a plot device?

I mean, it's all rather "you meet at the tavern" but in a little different way.

Do you think the assumption there would be the swordlords pulled individuals of merit, gave them each a copy of the charter and said ",

Meet your team there"?

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

Mmm. True... I had not thought of that in that context. So likely, yes, Tityanna would have asked after who she would be traveling with, and tried to meet with them to at least put a name to a face and arrange for the pony to be carrying our stuff. Such as we did here in the OOC.

This could work, with the delay Rhys noted we basically could say, "hey we met once" and then agreed to meet at Oleg's after spring melt so that we could wrap up personal business and prepare. We meet at Oleg's, there isn't the awkward "oh who are you?" so we know who each other is without having to hand wave actual relationship building? Does what I am saying make sense?

Having met briefly, once, in more formal surroundings in Restov. Seems like a good idea.

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

Excellent. I don't think the charter itself is all that important. It's ultimately what we as a party do that is the most important thing.

So yes, we're familiar with each other, and meet again at Oleg's. I will begin drumming up an intro in Word. Don't know that I will post it tonight, but, I am excited to meet everyone and get started :)

Since Tityanna is having Puck the Wonder Pony™ carry my tent, I'm not against knowing and traveling with her. He probably has avoided telling her a lot about himself though, giving generic statements that are bound to seem suspicious.

I should note that, so far, no one has seen Lobo Gris.

The way I've seen it, as far as the Greenbelt Charter party goes:

I think that the Swordlords would have strategically sent agents to various parts of Restov (or Rostland in general) to disseminate the fact that they are looking for adventurers to explore the Stolen Lands, and let the information filter organically to the "right" people. They'd use these channels so that they'd get less flak from Issia. The hopefuls would've then had audience with Ioseph Sellemius (the Lord Mayor of Restov), and he'd select those he felt most capable of completing the task.

Then, after spring thaw, the PCs could've traveled together to Oleg's Trading Post. How does that sound to you?

Thus far I have written that we are traveling a way on the South Rostland road with a merchant caravan, to assist with security. Being with a bunch of people allows to be social if you wish, but there's enough people to not be as well.

That's a fine idea! The caravan could be making a stop at Oleg's to trade, and then head up the northeast road toward Brunderton or New Stetven.

EDIT: Do you mind if I flesh out the caravaneers?

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

Nope. I have absolutely no problem with that. :) Gives me people to be social with, if my party members are reluctant to talk.

Tityanna Medvyed wrote:

Excellent! I'll post back shortly with the particulars. :)

The Caravan

The caravan is led by an energetic, ruddy-faced man named Loy Rezbin (although everyone simply calls him “Tanner”); he’s a former ranger who trades tools, weapons, and other goods for furs from Oleg’s. He hails from New Stetven, although he much prefers the road to the city. His companion, Latricia Evanore, serves as the caravan guide. She’s quiet and serious, and tends to redirect Loy’s focus to matters at hand when his conversations meander (usually after he’s had a few drinks). Though attractive (in a severe way), she dresses in a practical gray tunic over a white blouse and green trousers, and a fur-lined cloak with knee-length boots. She wears a medallion depicting a stylized longbow with a nocked arrow around her neck.

Knowledge (religion) DC 10:
It is Erastil’s symbol, the god of family, farming, hunting, and trade.

The Jhargee family serves as the caravan’s drovers. Kole Jhargee is a mountain of a man, burly and bearded, who is genial enough when he’s not scolding his children. Also from New Stetven, his genial mood darkens whenever the subject of his hometown arises. Lina, his wife, is a slip of a thing in comparison to her husband, but prone to shrill lecturing when her children slack in their duties. Denis and Danya, boy and girl fraternal twins, are fourteen years old and look eerily similar: long pale hair, pale skin, and alert gray eyes. Though quiet, they seem to have a silent way of communicating mischief with each other, which aggravates their parents to no end. Their mischief is punctuated by long bouts of hard work, which lulls their parents into a false sense of security (all the better for their newest antics to be unanticipated).

The caravan’s three guards are led by Coren Lawry, a no-nonsense ex-soldier from Restov. He has a military bearing: straight posture, impeccable attire, and well-kept arms and armor. In addition to being in charge of the two regular guards, Gustav and Tomas, he also serves as the overseer for hired mercenary guards (such as the PCs).

You think I am using my own dice? :-p

I hope you don't mind that I'm using seperate avatars/aliases for certain NPCs. I thought I'd try it out!

Spoiler:
I'd like to add, for those of you that are familiar with this AP, I by no means want these NPCs to help with the Levetons' problems. That gonna be all you! I have ways of ensuring that Tanner and his merry caravan have pressing business elsewhere. ;)

Bah, just means I've got enough luck to keep you from getting caught!

Got my post up, and I've decided something. The silver tattoo along Ray's arm has been hidden by his clothes, but some of it can be seen along his wrist when the sleeve moves. That''l make it just that much more interesting when he summons and light shines through his sleeve.

Also, instead of the usual mark on his forehead, Ray's tattoo(reflavored as a complex birthmark) takes it's place, and similar markings appear on Lobo's leg when he is around. Sound good?

Out of curiosity: when is Malaswyn Tyddewi showing up? I've yet to see him on the IC thread!

As a heads up: I'll be going on vacation from October 24th through the 30th. I may have computer access during that time, but maybe not as much as I've had. I know it's over a month away, but I thought I'd throw that out there well in advance.

Vacations are cool... just see about getting that computer access ;)

Um, I'm confused.

I went to post there and it was empty, came back here and everyone was discussing equipment so I decided to wait until we had a green light.

I have had a crazy week and may be being a little dense.

You're not dense; folks started posting over there and I forgot to mention it over here (silly me). I'm sorry for the crazy week, and I apologize for not posting here about that (totally slipped my mind).

I may be the dense one! :)

At any rate, feel free to review that thread and post there when you feel ready to; the thread's not insanely long yet.

I will be flying home to Norway on October 29, so a pause in the game will not adversely affect me. The week before prep for international travel can be quite... nerve-wracking.

My schedule says something about harassing Rhys' character in Jade Regent during that week and making strange comments to halplm's characters in both games...hmm I have another faded note here..."make trouble in Hu5stru's CC game"...huh...what a BUSY week. ; p

Kingmaker is so open and the pace so broad I am sure that we can fill the thread with random "getting to know you" conversations and other types of posts detailing the time that passes if we are in a place that makes sense. Worst case scenario is limited posts during the period and as long as that doesn't lead to a phantom game that becomes dead (which I doubt considering the group) then it is just a slow week.

I agree; should a few of us be absent that week, RPing can definitely happen.

Hmm, did my diplomacy not accomplish anything? Seemed a rather negative response to a pretty good roll :)

Female Human Sorceress (Fey) 1/ Oracle (Life) 1

Nah, more like Oleg directing his anger at me, and me failing my diplomacy caused a lot.

Big guys like to get angry at little girls coz it makes em feel superior. When she didn't give him the chance to feel accomplished for being a bully, I think it made him even more angry.

I dunno Tityanna's roll could have been a little better. :) Maybe when he comes out he will be petulant and only talk to you. "Tell her I said this" and so on.

Haldaval wrote:

***META-GAME ALERT***:
Your Diplomacy roll brought him from "unfriendly" to "indifferent", but I ruled he'd go sulk by himself instead of rant and rave at you (had you failed the roll). That, and Tityanna's abyssmal roll frustrated him even more.

And Tityanna has a good point: he was likely expecting Tityanna to react angrily; when she didn't, it pissed him off even more.

:)

Heh, I guessed it could have been worse without the roll :)

I can understand that; I've noticed that PbPs tend to slow down on the weekend (except for this one, apparently!). It's largely been much interaction and discussion, with no combat (yet). You can catch up if you'd like, though you may have to read a fair amount of posts! ;)
