DM Rednal Remove anything that doesn't work based on where it grappled me with adhesive. I doubt its just face hugging my waist so you can go into storymode with it and I am totally cool with that. >:3

The first attack startled him and the second blow through him completely off kilter. However the Mimic's trespass would not go unmolested as Julian unleashed his full arsenal for the first time since he had entered the Ruined Citadel. "I'll Tear You APART WRETCH!" He roared as he slashed the sticky creature with Einherjar hoping to deal it a nasty blow before snapping at it with his teeth and claws!

He held nothing back, fully intending to eviscerate this annoying pest in a flurry of strikes...

Nevermind.

The first attack startled him and the second blow through him completely off kilter. However the Mimic's trespass would not go unmolested as Julian unleashed a quick slash with his blade. Missing completely only made him more angry, hastening a much more rapid change with the mutagen as he growled angrily. "I'll Tear You APART WRETCH!" How his words were far from helpful as he flailed uselessly at the thing that had adhered to him.

Hearing the ruckus Rowan turned from the recovering paladins and drew her sword once more. "Ready yourselves but do not intervene unless needed." With that said she moved to where she last saw the pair moments before. Hastening her steps after hearing Julians angry growling across the chapel. What did he run into now?

As far as any of you could tell, it was some kind of mimic - but significantly more powerful than its kind usually were, and Rowan's sensing ability started going wild the moment it came into her sight.

The vial of universal solvent splashed onto the creature... and hissed slightly, but didn't get deep enough to dissolve the bonds. (That particular material required a specific application from close by to make sure it got deep enough, usually taking at least several seconds of pouring.)

The mimic's body morphed out of the way as Julian attempted an ultra-short-range charging attack - but it dodged in just the wrong way, as Julian's blade came back to hit it in its side. With a keening cry, the creature exploded into fragments that showered down across the chamber, leaving it free of foes... and for just a moment, Kariel's words echoed through Julian and Rowan's minds.

"IT WASN-" Julian snapped at the newcomer before reeling himself in, a look of visible frustration on his face as more rigid and hardened scales had appeared around one side of his neck. He gripped Einherjar tightly as he stared balefully into the room, daring some other piece of upholstery to jump him suddenly. He smashed part of the creature's remains under his heel as he growled and unleashed his pent up tensions. "Got what it deserved, doubt there was mercy for rubbish like that! I wouldn't want a carnivorous treasure chest!" He shakes off the remains as his clawed foot scrapes the stone.

When finally the rage had passed enough he focused instead on different method of detection nodding apologetically to Anathya before continuing forward. "Until this potion wears off be prepared for anything, it seems to bring out the uninhibited side of my psyche. Don't worry though, my bark is worse than my bite at this point." Scanning the room for magic in the hopes it would identify such a creature in its hidden state.

Edit: Rowan and Poor Spell choices.

Julian grumbles as he remembers he was set for combat today, looking to Rowan as she was setting the wand to use against his wounds. "Looks like it is up to one of you to see if there is more to this room... and thanks." He understood why Rowan held back, a single creature wasn't worth all the trouble and he scolded himself for being wasteful when they still had a whole castle to tear through still.

Rowan gives Julian a warm smile and nods as she continues her work. She looks back to where Jestak and the Crusaders were then, hoping that the barbarian woman hadn't decided to slip away. "Be careful and don't touch anything lightly. It appears there are more hidden dangers here then we thought before so stay together."

If Jestak was still with them she nods firmly to her and smiles. "Watch our backs Jestak, there may be something here we can use in our fight ahead. We will need the time to search thoroughly."

Unless Anaytha beats her to it Rowan will use detect evil in the hidden room. 3 rounds of detect evil followed by detect magic for 3 rounds meaning over two minutes spent in this room alone. Trying to keep track of time. :/

The room seemed as dead as the mimic as Rowan scanned it, and it remained that way right up to the point where Julian put a hand on the altar... and a tiny button clicked inwards. One of the panels on the altar slid aside right before a small drawer popped out. In it rested three small objects... and Julian's magic detection went absolutely insane.

Rowan:
What catches your eye is the largest of the three items in the case, nestled above the others. As you touch it, it pulses with satisfied golden light - yet the color is just a little different than what you experienced when you got your mythic power, and it doesn't quite feel like Kariel's aura either. It does, however, feel right... and for just a moment, the item radiates a strong sense of approval for the care and mercy you've shown thus far.

Rosarius of the Inheritor

Description: This ornate golden amulet is said to have been worn by Iomedae when she fought as a mortal - which is blatantly untrue, since the fact that it carries her holy symbol suggests it was made long afterwards, but it makes for a good story. Still, there's no denying that it's a powerful item in the hands of her followers, and it seems to have been made to protect the bearer from evil. The Rosarius of the Inheritor only functions for followers of Iomedae, and in addition to its other properties, it can be used as a Holy Symbol.

Item Slot: Neck

Omen: The Rosarius of the Inheritor sheds light for five feet whenever the wearer is praying, increasing the brightness of the area by one level (up to normal light). No known ability is capable of extinguishing this light.

Abilities:

5th: Mirror Image (Sp): Once per day on command, you can use mirror image as the spell. (CL 5th)

7th: Daylight (Sp): Once per day on command, you can cause the item to shed daylight as the spell. Darkness spells attempting to counter this light must be 4th level or higher. (CL 7th)

10th: Dispel Magic (Sp): Once per day, when you issue the command word and gesture with the item, you can use dispel magic as the spell. (CL 10th)

11th: Protection from Arrows (Su): While you are holding, wearing, or wielding the item, you gain damage reduction 10/magic against ranged weapons, as if affected by the protection from arrows spell. There is no limit to the amount of damage prevented.

13th: Maximize Spell, Lesser (Su): You can cast up to three spells per day of up to 3rd level that are maximized as though using the Maximize Spell metamagic feat. Using this legacy ability does not change the spell slot of the altered spell. A spontaneous spellcaster (such as a sorcerer) must still take a full-round action when using this ability, just as if using a metamagic feat he possessed. You cannot use this ability if you cannot already cast spells.

16th: Contingency (Su): Once per day, you can place a spell on yourself that triggers automatically on a trigger condition you specify, as though using the contingency spell.

17th: Banishment (Sp): Once per day, when you issue the command word and gesture with the item, you force extraplanar creatures out of your home plane, as the banishment spell. The save DC is 20, or 17 + your Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. (CL 15th)

20th: Regeneration (Su): While you are holding, wearing, or wielding the item, you heal 1 point of damage per level every hour rather than every day and regrow lost body parts, as though wearing a ring of regeneration.

Julian:
The item that catches your eye is a small ring in the lower left side of the box. As you touch it, it sends out a pulse of soothing cold, a bit like a mother caressing her child - and for just the briefest moment, you can feel a great degree of care for your well-being, and a desire to use the ring to quell your darkness and remain on the right track.

Ring of the North Star

Description: This silver ring is topped with a midnight-black sapphire that has countless tiny stars visible within. Which stars are visible changes over time - sometimes suddenly - and it's rumored that what it really shows is what Desna is seeing. Whatever the truth of the matter, the Ring of the North Star is a powerful item, though its powers only work for followers of Desna, and in addition to its other powers, it can be used as a Holy Symbol.

Item Slot: Ring

Omen: The Ring of the North Star abruptly orients the stars visible within to focus on one particular celestial body whenever the ring is used - one has to be paying attention to notice this happen, but it's thought that this is the first star to ever have been made...

Abilities:

5th: Feather Falling (Su): The item immediately confers the effect of a feather fall spell upon you if you fall for more than 5 feet.

7th: Speed Enhancement +10 (Su): The item increases your land movement by 10 feet. Choose the specific movement mode when assigning this ability to the item. You can’t add this bonus to a form of movement you don’t already have (for example, if you don’t have a fly speed, this ability can’t give you one). Treat this adjustment as an enhancement bonus.

10th: Clairaudience/Clairvoyance (Su): Two times per day, you can speak a command word and gaze into (or press your ear against) the item to see or hear at a distance, as the clairaudience/clairvoyance spell.

11th: Cunning (Su): While you are holding, wearing, or wielding the item, you are never flat-footed.

13th: Magic Invulnerability (Su): Once per day, when you issue the command word and gesture with the item, you are protected from 1st- through 3rd-level spell effects. This works like the lesser globe of invulnerability spell, except that only you gain this protection.

16th: Wizardry I (Su): While you are holding, wearing, or wielding the item, you can prepare or cast double your normal number of 1st-level arcane spells per day, as though wearing a ring of wizardry I.

18th: Mind Blank (Su): While you are holding, wearing, or wielding the item, your mind is protected from mental and emotional tampering, as if continually affected by the mind blank spell.

20th: Maximize Spell (Su): You can cast up to three spells per day of up to 6th level that are maximized as though using the Maximize Spell metamagic feat. Using this legacy ability does not change the spell slot of the altered spell. A spontaneous spellcaster (such as a sorcerer) must still take a full-round action when using this ability, just as if using a metamagic feat he possessed. You cannot use this ability if you cannot already cast spells.

Anathya:
The item that catches your eye was placed in the lower-right side of the box. As you touch it, however, it gives one cautious pulse of warmth before accepting you - Ragathiel is the lord of Vengeance, true, but also of Chivalry and Duty. This item holds great potential for smiting your foes, but it is critical to never forget the importance of mercy and righteous behavior.

Wing of the General

Description: This stylized red wing appears to flicker and glow with an inner fire, and in addition to its other powers, it can be used as a Holy Symbol. This item only functions for followers of Ragathiel.

Item Slot: Neck

Omen: When activated, the Wing of the General briefly glows red-hot (although this never causes harm).

Abilities:

5th: Cause Fear (Sp): Five times per day on command, you can use cause fear as the spell. The save DC is 11, or 11 + your Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. (CL 5th)

7th: Fireball (Sp): Once per day on command, you can use fireball as the spell. The save DC is 14, or 13 + your Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. (CL 7th)

10th: Scorching Ray (Sp): At will, when you issue the command word and gesture with the item, you cause it to shoot two rays of fire, as the scorching ray spell. (CL 10th)

17th: Planar Ally (Sp): Once per day on command, you can call an extraplanar creature of 12 HD or less to perform a task for you, as the planar ally spell. You must still pay any gold piece cost required by the task. (CL 15th)

20th: Meteor Swarm (Sp): Once per day on command, you can use meteor swarm as the spell. The save DC is 23, or 19 + your Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. (CL 20th)

As you reach out to take the items, a surge of power runs through your bodies, infusing your very essence to make you stronger than ever before. At the same time, you can feel a presence watching you - your actions here are not going unnoticed by your gods, although judging by the objects you've just picked up, they're pretty happy thus far.

You've all leveled up. Merry (slightly early) Christmas. XD Anathya, I believe this is your first time - before updating your character sheet, post a summary of your changes in the OOC thread for review. I generally don't have a problem with your choices, I just like to check over them before you update. ^^

Sweet BBL! XD

Long drive in the morning for christmas with the family. 300 miles away argh. lol still worth it. Just icy and I am whining :P

As Julian takes the ring in hand his mutant form wavers and then parts return to a more controllable norm. He puts on the ring and smiles broadly as the calm washes over him. "Control. Just have to not let my darkness control me." As soon as he releases it he feels the rush of energy flow through him and staggers momentarily as knowledge and skills he hadn't had before flooded his mind. Though it wasn't just the rush that staggered him but the epiphany of something he hadn't thought to do with alchemical weapons. "Weaponizing Holy water... By the gods, that could be absolutely vital to the war effort. Going to have to try that as soon as viably possible." When he realizes he was speaking aloud he coughs into his clenched demonic hand. "Sometimes its hard to contain my elation and my sword speaks t-- Nevermind."

Rowan took up the Rosarius and gave a small prayer before placing it carefully around her neck. The warmth that filled her being made her smile broadly, which made her appear even more radiant as a light started to radiate from her unearthly alabaster skin. She could feel her abilities enhancing and knew that the trials would only get harder from here on. She only hoped that her voice would be enough to pull someone back from the precipice, between living a good life or falling forever into the abyss.

She laughed warmly at Julian's flustered words before settling a hand on his shoulder. "Steady on, though I am curious how you plan to weaponized Holy Water. That'll be your best trick yet I think."

Turning to regard Jestak and the rescued crusaders she gave them the same smile, full of warmth and kindness but backed by a ferocious righteous fire. "Prepare to move out and be ready to fight harder then you ever have before we have a Citadel to capture!" Between her powerful voice, glowing light and beauty it was easy to tell she was more then mortal now.

This is awesome! Thanks Rednal! >:3 I am more and more tempted to take the Feat of Charisma for the +20 to cha related checks. But I think it would be over kill lol. Especially when there are more useful abilities to pick up.

Julian smiled at Rowan's words, taking them as a challenge. "Watch me. I'll show them who is the greatest inventor to step into this hellish place." He looked at the new ring that adorned his hand before whispering. "I will show everyone that my mother's choice wasn't wrong, I will make a place for my kind here once it's over." His smile never faded as he balled his demonic hand into a fist. "Let's kick their asses."

Picking up the pendant, Anathya places it around her neck, the stylized red wing appearing to flicker and glow with an inner fire. As she feels the power within, as well as an affirmation of her focus, she takes a deep centering breath.

She would fulfill her duties as a chosen of Ragathiel, to eradicate those who embraced evil wholeheartedly, and redeem those willing to turn to the light.

"I'm ready whenever you two are!"

Your patrons were pleased with how things have gone thus far. And happy patrons mean nice rewards. XD

"R-right." Jestak said, staring for a moment at the items and looking faintly awed. She was no caster herself, but it was quite obvious that you'd just encountered something big. More importantly, though, was the question of where you were going to go from here... there were a couple of doors outside and to the west, as well as the other openings coming off of the main hall.

Rowan smiles before using her detection magic to look for anything else she could usr to equip their companions. ...

Are those siits of armor on the statues better then the crusaders gear? Even if it is just for story fluff Rowan would gird others in the gear she could. Though I doubt we can take an entire cotadel in one day. XD

Once she was sure the chapel was clear she uses Jestaks directions to move towards the armory. "We strike the armory now. We will find whatever we can use against them! Julian will lead. Jestak and I will be behind him. Anathya will stand behind us and you four guard the rear. Make sure nothing closes with Anathya if possible." With their marching order set the has them move out.

On closer inspection, three of the statues are wearing masterwork full plate - the last is wearing a set of Armor of the Pious, only becoming detectable once you carefully and critically examine them. As you look, there's a fading aura that appeared to have been concealing its earlier magical power - something to stop demons from noticing the armor, apparently.

Following that, just to the northwest is the armory in question. Within are...

4d100 ⇒ (25, 17, 88, 73) = 203

...an adamantine battleaxe, 50 (+1) cruel arrows, an arrow of human slaying, a (+1) balanced breastplate, a (+1) keen longsword, a masterwork composite longbow (Str +2), a masterwork flail, a mithral heavy shield, and a suit of (+1) impervious elven chain.

Bonuses are in parentheses because Innate Item Bonuses, and that's their equivalent. ^^

"Wait a moment..." She looks to what the soldiers are armed with and has them equip what works best. Despite this being a chapel of their Lady, rowan knew that the goddess would understand that the fight for Drezen took priority. Any gear taken from the statues was replaced with the former gear of the one doing the replacing. "Whatever we take from within this hollowed place must be replaced in kind. It is only respectful to the goddess for the boon we receive."

Taking up the Armor of the Pious she looks it over for any possible indications of its use. Casting Identify on the area around her as she tried to decipher its magical qualities...

When the spell faded she looked to Jestak and proffered her her still gleaming Defiant Chainmail of Iomedae. "Would you want this? it'll give you added protection against demons. I assume full plate would be too cumbersome for you. But if you want some there are some upon these statues, all that is asked is to exchange what gear you have for what you take."

Partially Later

As a sign of good faith she destroys the human slaying arrow where Jestak could see it. Smashing it with her Adamantium Mace of Breaking. "We don't need this..." She didn't hide the disgust in her voice. "... Demon slaying is one thing but killing those who could would join us is not an option."

She hoped it would serve to remind Jestak of her promise earlier and she intended to keep it.

Looking to the others she nodded. "Lets equip ourselves well, her we leave nothing for the enemy if possible." Picking up the Elven Chain she tossed it to Anathya. "This should suit you better then the Crusaders and I, though the next armor like that I would hope to hand to Jestak here. something more flexible would do her well."

Rowan was a commander, with an eye for detail in what she did. She'd willing give up her own items if it'd help others.

Julian gives a low whistle at the lucky break they got. Masterwork suits of plate. Magical weapons and additional help for the fight ahead. They stood eight brave souls against an abyssal creature held ruin."I am glad we have you here Jestak." He said this genuinely despite his semi-demonic mutations. "You can trust Rowan and js for that matter but definitely her. She treats those under her command like gold and even when some wanted to abandon the cause she convinced them to fight. She scolded them sure but not a soldier was harmed." He says this as he rummages through some of the new items. "Now those same soldiers are some of our best. So stick close to her as she will take us all far." Not seeing anything suitable for him he set the items down and stood with Jestak. "So know anywhere else of interest?" He spoke in a friendly way and not accusingly. Hoping the short time together had eased the womans suspicion some.

When the dust and equipment grabbing had settled he fell back into position leading the way northward and checking the western wing of the Ruins still.

Armor of the Pious.

Jestak shook her head, and there was little else of interest here in the western wing of the citadel - mostly just rooms that had probably once been used for storage, but were now entirely unused. It seemed like the only practical ways forward were from the central chamber.

With this part of the fortress cleared she brings everyone to gather to decide their next course. "Lets head to the chamber where we defeated the Vrock, from there we head northward and continue clearing the entire western side of the Citadel. Once clear we sweep east and take down whatever is left on this floor until we reach the main gates. If we encounter stairs we will avoid descending for now, as we may not have the strength for a protracted underground foray. However ascending into a tower is fine as it shall be quick to clear and assures our comrades outside of less ranged attackers. Same formation. If there is no other comments then Julian lead the way."

Rowan was thinking of the layout of the fortress, trying to remember from memory anything of use to their current foray...

His mutagen was still in his veins but for how much longer was of little issue to Julian, he focused solely on moving forward. He nods as the orders are laid out. "Roger, if I see anything I willsignal to halt the advance. I have some spells left to deal with minor foes without having everyone engage." Don't forget to keep your profiles updated with how many spells and daily abilities you've used. That should be a regular thing. Be a bit horrible if you lost track and one day I was like "Your magic fizzles as you realize you're out of energy and the enemy skewers you", yeah? XD

As you return to the central chamber, one problem presents itself - the massive amounts of rubble on the floor, several of which are barring the northern doors. While it's possible to move them, you'll probably have to get creative if you want to do that. It does look like you can squeeze through the passages to the southeast, though.

Those rocks are on the map for a reason. XD

This room contains several long tables and benches - it's obviously a dining hall, although it seems underused. A look through the area reveals nothing of interest or value, and after moving forward a bit more, you come to another connecting hall - apparently the central room for the eastern garrison, judging by the design. Jestak and the other men are following you, albeit at a bit of a distance, giving you time to explore and make sure the area is safe. You could head south to explore this garrison area as well, or continue to the north.

I'd like to emphasize again that you should note what kinds of attacks you're making, so things can be double-checked, not just roll dice and hand me a bunch of numbers. If you don't actually TELL me whether you're doing stuff like ranged or melee, that specific numbers for damage are elemental/holy/whatever, and so on, I'm just going to assume whatever would be least convenient for you. <- *Your GM's idea of encouragement to do it correctly*

(This really is important, by the way. I GM quite a few games, and there is no way I'm going to remember every modifier of every character. Clearly explaining what you're doing makes things waaaaaaay easier for me. ^^)

The demon's body looked to be resistant - though not immune - to fire, and Anathya's attacks rained down upon its body a moment later. The creature let out a growl, and its eyes abruptly flashed - and you could feel its infernal power trying to drag you down.

That would be why I mentioned the use of Endless Hatred raising the favored enemy bonus to +6. Do you need it to be +attack bonus/rapid shot/Point blank/Precise shot (14)+ favored enemy bonus (4)+Endless Hatred (2)? Almost all my attacks are raged since I don't take a penalty for shooting and don't give up attacks of Opportunity, sorry I for got to mention it was a ranged attack. I figured the full attack without moving was clear. I'll specify next time.
