For this levelup, figure you leveled along the way. New resources are gained, but expended powers are still expended.

Also, looks good, Umbriak. o wo/

To the village, then?

Also: Has anyone else suddenly lost all their dots?

I did. o_O That's... that's REALLY awkward.

Halfling URogue 3 / Oracle 3 | HP: 33/33 | AC: 19 / T: 14 / FF: 16 | Fort: +5, Ref: +8, Will: +7/+9 | M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +5 | CMB: +4, CMD: 13 | Init: +5, Perception: +10 |

Update: They're still gone. It wasn't a one-time thing; dots just aren't currently working.

Yes, to the village, so I can weep for the fallen dots.

Aye. Dots gone, but hotfix incoming.
There's a thread about it.
And here I was wondering why none of my games updates, for 2 days straight.

Yeah, it was supposed to be fixed like a day ago. So uh...

*buys 2 Y-formed sticks for campfire food preparation*
*plants both Y-formed sticks in the ground behind Ridley*
*gently pokes him with 10-foot pole placed on Y-sticks*
"Your turn." (Just pointing it out since you posted in Legendary Planet yesterday)

Also, I'll be traveling for most of the next week with uncertain internet, feel free to bot me as needed.

FYI: While I expected to be able to post during the combined work/private trip over the weekend, life had different plans. I'll be attending a funeral tomorrow and it's kept me busy the past 2 days, too.

I will try and post again as soon as possible, please do bot as needed.

Anyone have thoughts on what to do next? We gotta figure out how we're ending this situation, and I'm not sure whether we have or haven't learned everything about what the different options mean.

HP: 10/10 | AC: 12 / T: 10 / FF: 10 | Fort: +2, Ref: +4, Will: +0 | CMB: 2, CMD: 14 | Init: +4, Perception: +5(+1 versus Traps) Low-light Vision

The Fey Girl seemed unwilling to even introduce herself/tell her name.

That does not really suggest she would be willing to teach me to sing, rather that she answers some question out of politeness and is glad to not have anything more to do with us.

These Fey in general are very...vague. Which fits their nature, by all means, but makes it hard to pinpoint information worth pursuing. In a real-life table, one could go back and forth over a lot of stuff, then in-party decide what information is relevant, but we would probably spend a month doing that in pbp.

I say we take our chance with the Nymph, and hope she's speaking in less mysterious terms about how we get an audience with the Dryad, then try and find out from the Dryad what the plan with Indomitability was/how to end this with the least amount of collateral damage.

I'm pretty certain Options 1: "Stop all the Fey from Singing(as the Devil suggested)" is not a good option(plus fun that he explained there was no genocide needed to stop them from singing...but failed to mention that doing so would essentially be genocide itself). And Option 2: "Dive into the lake and free Indomitability from being trapped without any precautions or further information because this omnipotent destructive force of fire surely will totally honor any deal it agrees to" does not sound much more enticing.

For the record, I'm certain we CAN learn more here....including the Song, which, considering it seems to contain hints to their nature, may be good to know in it's entirety...especially since we know what happens if singing stops, AND the GM hinted at the possibility that we may learn it....besides that, I'm good to go, for pbp reasons.

Male (Ye may check, I dinnae mind) Dwarf Barbarian / Warpriest-Wizard Gestalt 5| HP: 70/70 | AC: 19 / T: 11 / FF: 16 |(+2 vs magic and poison) Fort: +7, Ref: +5, Will: +9(11) | CMB: +9, CMD: 20 | Init: +1, Perception: +10 | DR 2/- | Fire Resistance 1

Well, there are probably more people to chat to in the village - this Vaul guy for a start - and then it sounds like we're going to need to go see a creature in pool about a lady in a tree.

Basically, we just need to get as much information as we can, so we don't annoy the Nymph or Dryad. I suspect that's where the essential quest information is going to be.

Halfling URogue 3 / Oracle 3 | HP: 33/33 | AC: 19 / T: 14 / FF: 16 | Fort: +5, Ref: +8, Will: +7/+9 | M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +5 | CMB: +4, CMD: 13 | Init: +5, Perception: +10 |

We might be a match for a dryad; I don't want to try and fight a nymph.

I think we need to end the status quo, though. If we can do it in a way that gains us a powerful and trustworthy ally, awesome, though that's probably not going to happen. "Kill Indomitability for good" was another option described that seems unlikely to work.

Male (Ye may check, I dinnae mind) Dwarf Barbarian / Warpriest-Wizard Gestalt 5| HP: 70/70 | AC: 19 / T: 11 / FF: 16 |(+2 vs magic and poison) Fort: +7, Ref: +5, Will: +9(11) | CMB: +9, CMD: 20 | Init: +1, Perception: +10 | DR 2/- | Fire Resistance 1

Well, depending on the situation, my ideal solution would be send Indomitability back to whence it came with a promise to not come get vengeance, but right now we don't have all the info.

Once again, plans in real-life simply don't work out.
I was to attent a training workshop most of this week, and expected to have plenty of time to post during the nights at the hotel, so was a bit lazy last weekend and spend time preparing for the trip.

Little did I know that we only met up at the hotel, then moved by bus to a cabin in the mountains for teambuilding purposes. No phone, no Wi-Fi, and even if we had, no time to post.
It was a very interesting experience, but yeah, sorry for going MIA/AWOL, I'm back and will make sure to catch up on all my games and post ASAP.

...but what about the laptop? Or the other, old laptop you have in storage? Or the other, even older laptop that's so old it still got the original Baldur's Gate installed from 4 CDs on it and disc one is still in the drive? Or the gaming rig you have hooked up to your TV? Or the upstairs computer that used to be a gaming rig but you have set up in your bedroom so you can use it while painting, modelling and other hands-on work?

...y'know, I might have too many computers...

On the plus side, my wife has her own stuff too!

The laptop is in the shop for like a week, the old laptop is at my mom's house. The gaming rig hooked into the tv is my roommate's and doesn't have a keyboard. Currently on a laptop with a broken screen but because of cable configurations I can't type and look at the screen at the same time.

Just on the off-chance that there's trouble: Ridley, I think you never finished your level-up properly.
I tried to point it out in-game, but your statline still says level 3, and your profile states the same 33 HP.

Am, but was travelling until yesterday night(as announced in the planet game - since we have a sub-cast of GM+players in this one I don't duplicate every announcement), then page was not available all day. Now it's working but it's too late to go through all my games. If my input is not vital, we can proceed, otherwise I'll get a post up tomorrow as soon as I can.

No worries! I have trouble remembering which players are in which Rednal games, since there's a bunch of overlap

And it doesn't help when the server hamsters are going wild and making it hard to access the site. XD

Male (Ye may check, I dinnae mind) Dwarf Barbarian / Warpriest-Wizard Gestalt 5| HP: 70/70 | AC: 19 / T: 11 / FF: 16 |(+2 vs magic and poison) Fort: +7, Ref: +5, Will: +9(11) | CMB: +9, CMD: 20 | Init: +1, Perception: +10 | DR 2/- | Fire Resistance 1

I'm only in 2 Rednal games, unfortunately. Since you are both also in the planetary one which is the second game I'm in, I try not to "double up" on notices.
Alas, yes, the server hamsters do not help...as does having high fever, chills(if that is the word. google translate says so), pounding headache and a prescription of antibiotics and serious pain medication. Alas, uninterrupted bedrest is making my back ache, so I decided to try once again...and it seems the hamsters are more kind with their timing this time.

Hej. Feeling fine again. Got worse before it got better.

Plus, once I was feeling a bit less ill, I had the bright idea of working on updating my computer system while I was home anyway, which caused some further problems with being able to go online.(Installing W7 on a M2 drive from USB is a mess by itself, certain boxed intel chips come without cooler, and I had no PCIe solution for Wifi(I use cards, not usb connectors)).

Either way, I'm back now and will catch up with all my games plus post today(within about 12 hours). Apologies for going missing. I did update some of my games when I originally fell ill, but not all - assuming I could post somewhat normally for those not moving at too fast a pace.

@Rednal: Regarding no wood, I was referring to those: Reference post of Fey attacking us with spears
They did use spears. We also disarmed the two we knocked out, but I believe we returned their equipment.

I don't really care what they are made of, either, anything is fine. Unless you want to spoiler us that we are not going to poke around underwater long and preparing for the possibility is a waste of time. :

Plus, if the worked wood of the spears is only on fire a little bit(say, 1d3 worth of fire), then I can safely ignore that, being resistant.
Even 1d6 fire per found would still be worth using.

That doesn't mean the spears weren't on fire... XD

But more seriously, how long you're underwater for depends on you. Either way, you probably wouldn't fight a boss battle there unless you did so on purpose - underwater combat is nasty at low-levels, and probably too much so for a major fight.

HP: 10/10 | AC: 12 / T: 10 / FF: 10 | Fort: +2, Ref: +4, Will: +0 | CMB: 2, CMD: 14 | Init: +4, Perception: +5(+1 versus Traps) Low-light Vision

@Rednal I predicted your small text and had that last part edited in while you posted ;) Just bringing it do your attention. So, fire spears? ;)

@Boss battle: I would much prefer fighting outside. But who knows, maybe the think is trapped below the surface of the lake or something.
Or it turns into the frigging sun outside of water and WE actually prefer to stay in the pool rather than bask bake in it's glory.

Well, whatever happens, it's probably level-appropriate. This isn't the Lost Lands. ^^

Hi, guys. To all my games: sorry I've been such a butt lately.

Basically, I was away from the internet for a while, but before and after that, I've been writing so much for work that PbP just felt like a chore. And I've come to realize that while I love my job, right now it's just not leaving me the time and creative energy I need forPbP, so, while I've sort of been sliding down that slope for a while, I figured I should actually tell all my games that I've gotta drop out.

Sorry to disappoint and potentially leave a bunch of people hanging at the end there, and I hope I was generally fun.

-Thunderbeard

Well, then... looks like we're going to need to re-recruit - because I definitely don't think two characters will be enough for the upcoming scene(s). Farod, Umbriak, is there anything in particular you'd like 1-2 new member(s) of the party to bring to the group?

HP: 10/10 | AC: 12 / T: 10 / FF: 10 | Fort: +2, Ref: +4, Will: +0 | CMB: 2, CMD: 14 | Init: +4, Perception: +5(+1 versus Traps) Low-light Vision

I defer to Umbriak here.

But I would like to see both "aspects" picked up again, at least if there's going to be 2 new members - full divine casting being the one, and skillmonkey-dps the other.
Personally I'd could also appreciate an int-based disabler covering knowledges in the back, or a second tanky melee.

A definite plus would be if they manage to pick up the fire theme.

Also shameless self-advertisement: I realized thunderbeard also dropped from your northlands-saga...I still have Eirik and Snorri from the Recruitment back then...IF you'd consider them to fill the vacant spot.
(I also had a pure martial concept of Siege Breaker Fighter/Armored Hulk Barbarian using Bulette Style to 'tackle' his problems gestating in my mind.)

Male (Ye may check, I dinnae mind) Dwarf Barbarian / Warpriest-Wizard Gestalt 5| HP: 70/70 | AC: 19 / T: 11 / FF: 16 |(+2 vs magic and poison) Fort: +7, Ref: +5, Will: +9(11) | CMB: +9, CMD: 20 | Init: +1, Perception: +10 | DR 2/- | Fire Resistance 1

I wouldn't object to Farod joining us in the Northlands...

And yes, Divine magic would be good. Skills would be good. Additional Arcane and melee wouldn't hurt, either.

Eh, self-advertisement is fine. XD Which of those two do you like better, Farod?

HP: 10/10 | AC: 12 / T: 10 / FF: 10 | Fort: +2, Ref: +4, Will: +0 | CMB: 2, CMD: 14 | Init: +4, Perception: +5(+1 versus Traps) Low-light Vision

Hm. I DID want to try a throwing switch-hitter-build, which is surprisingly Feat-intensive - and would be Snorri.
But judging by the discussion thread of northlands, a charismatic skilled magic-user would also be wanted. Eirik was originally built as the full arcane(one slot of which you allowed) or the medium caster(as Skald).

Since I have to upgrade to 4th Level anyway, I would like to take a look at trying to rebuild a hybrid Skald/Fighter.
That would bring some magic, a potential face with social skills, and switch-hitting throwing/melee.
So, social/martial/skills/magic/buffing...all that is wanted ^_^
Plus the classes would fit the theme pretty well.

Do you have a background writeup handy? Your situation will be that you were one of the people asked to join the current journey as a sailor. Also, it probably bears repeating that the North is really wary about magic in general, so those with casting abilities need a good explanation not just for why they have it, but how they deal with it in a more social sense... that is, why they haven't sworn off of it forever, whether they're public or private about it, and so on. This is not a cosmopolitan land where those throwing around tremendous - or even minor - arcane power are common. XD Cast on someone without permission and they're liable to try and stab you for it, even if it was a friendly power.

HP: 10/10 | AC: 12 / T: 10 / FF: 10 | Fort: +2, Ref: +4, Will: +0 | CMB: 2, CMD: 14 | Init: +4, Perception: +5(+1 versus Traps) Low-light Vision

*nods* I'd have to read up a bit on the current situation to adapt a background so it makes sense currently.

That said, I may have misremembered, but thought all casting was supposed to be SoP, and then realized both remaining players do have casting classes already-...

So the question, I suppose, would be: are we talking about Vancian casting being wanted? Could be done, if I was a Sailor come from far away, rather than a local. I'd probably know to be discreet about it, and may even have a reason to come to such a place.(being hounded by other casters for some slight, for example)
Or are we talking about Spheres-Casting? If so, that was not planned to be blatant...I would need to take a look at what's already supplied by the others(I know healing is) but I was considering things like Fate, Weather or War Sphere that don't involve fancy flaming explosions.(well, maybe some Hail or a Lightning Strike, but they wouldn't be able to trace that to me. It was the Gods, I tell you!)

But since 3 out of 4 classes across the remaining 2 gestalts ARE caster classes, I could also go for Unchained Rogue/Fighter, to pump up those skills, and go with high Charisma as face(and if you feel the Sneak Attack would be unbalancing=(with full BAB, TWF, Weapon Training and Debilitating Injury making it QUITE likely that flanking turns out to be rather deadly to things not immune at higher levels), could even go with Phantom Thief...albeit working THAT in the backstory would be a bigger challenge(and be broken in it's own way, anyway) - most likely would need to go with being a Jarl's child and some extensive education...)

Fighter/Rogue is pretty much what we had with a player who recently left, actually... and truth be told, I would prefer a non-caster as an addition to the cast. Although, in their case, they didn't really focus on stacking damage or anything. Doubling up on roles with classes is bad. Diversifying is good. If Fighter already gives you plenty of damage - and it usually does - you shouldn't be aiming to add sneak attacks on top of that.

(Vancian casting is not a thing for players in that game, by the way. It's just right out, since Spheres better represents the low-magic nature of the area.)

(Also, I'm almost certainly moving this weekend, so not picking anybody for anywhere until after that.)

HP: 10/10 | AC: 12 / T: 10 / FF: 10 | Fort: +2, Ref: +4, Will: +0 | CMB: 2, CMD: 14 | Init: +4, Perception: +5(+1 versus Traps) Low-light Vision

@Fighter-Rogue: There's only so many combinations of pure martial classes that don't end up stacking things massively. More so if Rage-based classes are not exactly common, nor are cavaliers or Monks.
Gets worse if you want to avoid doubling-up with Hybrids(so no Brawler+Fighter, because Brawler is already Fighter+Monk)

@Stacking up: Aye, but if you fight, you look to flank, and if you flank, there's sneak attack. It gets added on top and there's few ways to actually avoid it unless making suboptimal tactical choices(avoid flanking)...and there's few archetypes that affect it(one of which gives casting instead). Hence why I considered the Phantom Thief, but heavily reflavored to fit the setting, probably.

So the two non-caster concepts would either be Slayer(Vanguard)/Fighter, or Unchained Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Fighter...considering Slayer would STILL stack things on top of fighter, I'll go with the more diversified concept and alter the build to be a the Phantom Thief Rogue/Fighter(that should nicely boost the skills and socials-section...). I'll take a bit of time with the background if you are moving anyway, though, so things will make sense. :)
