Yes, the points do have value across different campaigns. ^^ They do NOT have to be used in the campaign they're earned in.

@Thunderbeard: Your big concern is any armor that actively slows you down. Consider it from that perspective.

Well... I went with a lightfoot halfling, so it only goes down to 20'. If you think that's too low, I'll redistribute wealth and downgrade armor.

It's probably too low. There is a point in the campaign where having thicker, heavier armor is not going to be a problem... but that point is not at the beginning. I genuinely believe you'll be happier if you stay agile at the start and work your way up later.

Hey! I just wanted to let you know that I'm making a good amount of progress on my undine summoner/rogue! Just to really briefly describe Tallulah's backstory, she's a chaotic good character who lived with her familial tribe in a marsh until running into a patrol of Ragesia while scavenging for food with her aquatic eidolon. The patrol took her and her eidolon for terrifying, muddy swamp monsters and attempted to kill them. The duo barely got back to the tribe alive. After explaining the near-death encounter to the tribe, the fearful and superstitious tribe deemed that Tallulah was attracting demons to their sheltered little swamp, and forced her into exile along with her eidolon.

Long story short, Tallulah, extremely distraught by her tribe's betrayal, wandered the lands until discovering the city of Gate Pass. She was taken in by a group of elves, and joined their resistance movement against the very empire that had led to her exiling- the Ragesia.

Tallulah is a character who is deeply connected to the water. She has a deep bond to her aquatic eidolon, to the point where she'd trust it with her life, has developed the ability to breathe underwater [amphibious alternate racial trait], and can even heal her own wounds by immersing herself in natural lakes and streams [hydrated vitality alternate racial trait].

Anyway, that's what I've got so far. How does it sound?

...Your Eidolon is capable of moving and acting on land, right? XD You're close to the ocean, but this is definitely a land-based campaign.

The aquatic base form of an eidolon has a land speed of 20. It has gills and a swim speed of 40, however, thus the term 'aquatic.'

Edit: I completely understand that this is a land based campaign. I just thought that a character based around being a 'fish out of water' in more ways than one was an interesting concept.

I'm working on a submission as well. He'll be an elf that sometimes spends too much time away from civilization, and when he comes back he tends to mutter about spirits warning of disaster or apocalypse. Mechanically, he'll be a Ranger (spirit ranger)/Wizard (evoker, admixture with the mageknight AP class option. He is currently associated with Gabal's school and formerly with the military of Shahalesti.

Psionics are allowed? Nice :)
I'll work on getting up more of this in the next few hours but here is the bare bones of my idea.
1st class: Psion Nomad
Human, speed of Thought feat.
Midioto is a courier. It is his job to run from place to place delivering messages and small items. He is very fast and athletic (debating on taking the run or endurance feat, just cause) and it is often decided that a slower message delivered on foot is more discreet then one delivered through the main courier service.
At the start I would probably have just gotten back from a longer journey to another city, although my usual clients would be either the local
Politicians and nobles or the thieves guide (see below).
Being able to get places as well as the ability to send missives (aka short messages without speaking of being right beside someone) is very handy in the business indeed!

His second class would be something like a bard or rogue. He will mainly be a caster with lots of movement (and teleporting at Lvl 2!!) With the second class providing utility and options.
Bard: thinking Archivist. He is tied up with the Political side of things. He is more charismatic and knows people. He seeks out knowledge and exploring places.
Rogue: thinking roof runner or smuggler. Tied up with the shady thieves guild more so as an informant/runner/messenger/smuggler. He enjoys learning these little secrets and knows the local area well, and how to get from point A to point B in a hurry. Or lose a guard down a side ally.

More to come!

Hey you never answered my previous question I'm copy pasting here. I'm taking the mysterious Avenger archetype for the swashbuckler and I was wondering if you'll make it required for me to have a secret identity? I can fit it into my backstory and have what I think is an interesting take on it I just can't think of how to stylize my alter ego. my fluff will probably be on Sunday evening/night.

If it's part of the class' abilities, then yes, you'd need to take it.

..............

Having an alternate identity might not be such a bad thing in this game, really... XD

Armor changed. It's not a big difference.

I was considering applying for this game, but then I read your note about the Northlands Saga and... I am so excited for that campaign that I have to skip out on this recruitment. Looking forward to that one!

Heh. XD Well, it's good to know there's interest!

Eh, I plan on applying for both.

APPLY FOR ALL THE GAMES!

Rednal, can I trade in two Soul Points to grab a Mastetrwork Breastplate? I'm playing a Dwarf Barbarian, so it's not gonna slow me down. At all. And I've grabbed Armour Expert as a Trait, so the ACP isn't too gnarly. So I can fast and a little sneaky.

Yes, you can make that trade. ^^

Cool. Just editing the history and finishing up my items and I'm done, then.

And it shall be...my finest...work.

Probably.

This is Jon's character, Umbriak Embersworn, Barbarian and Warpriest of Angradd. He's primarily and offensive heavy hitter with a side order of healing and buffing, especially as the levels increase and his Wisdom stat gets better.

My plan is for him to take the Weapon of the Chosen feat chain, then the Vital Strike feats, bolstering it with some of the obvious Warpriest feats to boost and improve Channel when that becomes available.

I...may have gone a little overboard for his backstory. Eheh.

Didn't have time to make a character for this, but I'm definitely interested in the Northlands saga thing you mentioned

Heh... yeah, whatever happens, I'll be seeing y'all in Northlands. I was very briefly in a gestalt Norse campaign with Rednal before the GM tanked, and he suggested porting the character over. (It's definitely a character I like a lot)

I wish I could port Neve, but I try to stay away from GMPC-type characters. XD; They generally don't work.

That said, it's now the 8th! I'll be going over the submissions a little later today, so if there's any last-minute submissions or adjustments to make... well, you'll want to do those now. XD

Hopefully not too late

Unchained Rogue/Unchained Monk (Human, female)

backstory:
Ransile always thought himself a good thief. He didn't steal from residents of Gate Pass themselves, but preyed upon travelers. The cynics among his craft thought he did this because travelers usually had someplace to be and didn't linger over small takes, be while that was a consideration, he did indeed not like taking from Gate Pass. Then one day he took a bauble from a traveler that was no small take, and the city at the urging of this notable in disguise searched for the thief. Ransille lost a hand over the incident and scruples about Gate Pass went with it. In deals concocted in the On-To-Go tavern he eventually lost his other hand and his life over petty things - but not before his children could see his fall from a good life, to destitution and living on the streets.

One such child Rhaven, at one time vowed she would never take from the people of the Pass, and that she would make up for all the anger and hurt her father had; but the stigma of being her father's daughter barred many avenues in the city, and she too turned to crime. A small human, initially child and later young woman was useful for schemes and she played her part well. She earned a living all the while her spirit was being killed by her harming of others fortunes and lives. The little solace she got was living and working with a family of bakers, but that was not enough. Eventually she left the city and journeyed alone in the wilds, thinking that perhaps she could at least be a good meal for some scavengers before she ended her life. Unfortunately for her, or fortunately is more likely, the animal she tried to feed herself to was, a companion of another. She found herself in a new apprenticeship, one where she learned the benefits of order, complement her background in chaos, and still help her city. Her mentor, Alizar, instilled in her responsibility that if she would throw her life away, it would be as she took enemies with her. With his teaching and a new lease on life, she returned to her city. She had a new lease of life, a new purpose, and better training to deal with her enemies. she never found she could adopt his close connection to animals, but his training stuck with her.

She returned to the city, will some of her contact, but no longer stealing as an end - instead she took up her father's legacy of only stealing from traveler - though this time, she often took everything - even their lives if they did not give up spoilers willingly. When she heard of the danger her city was in, she was among the first to volunteer.

base mechanics:

Human Unchained Monk, Unchained Rogue - LN
Campaign Feat - Thieves’ Guild Sympathizer

WIS 14
CHA 8

r1) weapon finnese

appearance and personality:

Rhaven is unremarkable in appearance - in a city she is the every-girl. She has the black hair that she was named for, but she keeps it cut shoulder length and tied back, most of the time. She is five and half feet tall, around 125 out of the bath, and has brown eyes to go with her straight black hair.

Rhaven is focused. She is very much to deal with the things on hand, and get it done. In play time, she takes the same approach - but even her play activities have purpose. The one exception is babies - baby people and baby animals. When faces with the really cute, her barriers sometime falls and she appears less stern, less focused, and she lets herself feel more.

Cleaned up his background. Good luck all!

All right, recruitment is officially closed. Thank you all for your interest and applications, and the following characters can go ahead and dot the campaign and discussion threads now:

Deacon Ridley
Umbriak Embersworn
Thom Smyth

Oh no! I'd just finished my application! I was aiming to finish it by tonight, and didn't know that registration would close early... ;-;

I'll still put a link here, just in case you want to see Tallulah. I'm confident in her as a character, but I understand that she's considered late by this point.

Character Sheet

All of her personality, backstory, etc info is at the bottom. Apologies about bugging you, Rednal. If you could be kind enough to comment on how I could make her into a character that you would want in your campaign, I would love to hear it.

Re-opening recruitment for one character!

Someone dropped, so... *Coughs*

The players have expressed a preference for an Arcane/Ranged sort of character. Level 1, though that's probably gonna change soon. Any takers?

Hey Rednal! If you give me a couple days to prepare something, I put myself out there :)

Give me a little time to read over the players guide and I'll throw something together. Wizard/Fighter maybe.

We're not in a super-big hurry, so I think we can manage a few days, at least. ^^

And in the meantime, I'll just work on the super-awesome secret project...

Thanks! I'd be glad to be in a game with you again ;)

Are you allowed to keep secrets from me? I'm really not sure that's a thing that should be allowed.

Also, hola new folks. I'm Jon, Umbriak's player/keeper. Good luck to you all.

No worries, it'll be public soon enough. ^w^ Rednal's about done with the first part now.

Hey Rednal!

So, I put together a Zen Archer Regular Monk / Enlightened Bloodrager. I'm writing his story and should have something soon ;)

He covers the "ranged" part competently for now. Arcanely, he doesn't do much yet (I plan on getting him to the "Arcane Archer" and "Evangelist" prestige classes). He will eventually have more spells and capability on this matter.

If you need me to create something more arcane and less physical, let me know and I'll switch ideas.

Thanks!

Archlich

FWIW: The party has *some* arcane magic via Arcane Enlightenment, but it’s pretty limited-access. Ranged support isn’t something we *need*, just something we could benefit from (since we don’t have it), so no need to shoehorn a character into something that doesn’t fit well.

I actually had another idea with Unchained Monk/Eldritch Scion Magus and the East Wind feat. I could do it with Sorcerer too, potentially :) it might be a lot better thematically, and uses more the guide (something I love to do when writing backgrounds; tying it to the player's guide).

In that case, you can actually pull off a decent switch-hitter build with an unchained monk/arcane, thanks to the cool exotic proficiencies UMonk gives (though you'll lose the ability to abuse arcane archer). Shuriken are reasonably accurate out to around 20-30 feat, or twice that if you have Far Shot; mix shurikens, fists, and flying kick and you've got a highly mobile mixed attacker. If you want to use your arcane pool, a rope dart lets you attack anyone within 20'; once you can afford a blinkback belt, a deer-horn knife will be reasonably accurate out to around 60' (or maybe 100' with Far Shot).

And that's with literally zero investment. If you wind up going with something like Ascetic Style, your throwing weapon of choice (deer horn knife, wushu dart, or dan bong—it has to be something with a primary melee mode) gains the ability to deliver ranged style strikes, stunning fists, and hit for good damage, leading to an extremely versatile character who can (via East Wind Style) deliver shocking grasp spells at range that also trip or entangle enemies.

It's definitely silly, and not the only way to play a monk/caster; but since this is all stuff from the WMH and thus super new, I thought I'd let you know in case you hadn't seen it before.

I like playing in your games. I could scale down Turion who was made for a Rise of the Runelords game. Originally he was planned to go Arcane Archer(with a heavier Feat Focus in that direction). Depending on interpretation on Numinous Potency, that could also be what he's aiming for again. I have not changed him to fit your recruitment's stat requirements yet, but I think the "idea" is pretty visible.

Archlich here! Here's Andulian Vogh, the character I described and I've been working in (with the help of our friends here, as thunderbeard. thanks!). I decided to go with Monk/Sorcerer so it has more of a "3.5" feeling than Magus (I also thought it'd be a little cheesy to use the Magus! hehe). I'm still writing the background, but wanted to already post what I have here and the highlights of what I'm writing.

Bump.
(Just in case others are interested)
Any news how much longer it will be open? I had not re-built Turion because I figured it's already been a few days and I further believed it's useful to see where he's heading. If it will be open a bit longer, I could also re-do him as Level 1 if thats preferable. Either way, he'd be Slayer/Arcanist going for either Arcane Archer or Lantern Bearer.(if Arcane Archer, I'd go with one Sorcerer Level and Bloodline Development Exploit instead of Blood Arcanist, and White Mage Archetype(for added healing...never too much healing in a party), which will allow to add the Arcane Archer Caster Level increases to the Sorcerer Side for some out-sourced low-level spells while keeping one side of gestalt dedicated to arcanist))

Recruitment will be open for at least a few more days. XD I heard a few ideas that haven't been submitted yet.

I completed the profile with a better background and added a small "description" section for him :)

Recruitment will close on Friday. Please have your entry submitted by the end of the day, and the new player will be chosen on Saturday.

We are now closed to new applications. Everyone with a completed idea, please post it now. ^^

*Crickets chirp*

...

Maybe I SHOULD have made a new thread...

I take that you didn't like Andulian?

possibly :) But I think Andulian already did post his finished idea.
I offered Turion but as you know, had no time to alter him yet because of life-changing real-life stuff...so he barely qualifies for "post completed idea".

It seems your choices are limited, but those people you get to pick from, rather motivated ;) Maybe some pn-input from JonGarrett and thunderbeard will make things easier for you?

edit: ninja'd by Andi...@Andi: I don't think it's so much a question of "like/dislike", but it's always better to have more choice, more options, to consider pro/con and how the char would fit into the party, instead of having to choose between the only 2 guys who showed up ;)

It's not who I liked or didn't like, it's that I wanted to see who was actively checking for updates. I said everyone with a completed idea, and I meant everyone with a completed idea. XD; Since nobody posted, I haven't decided on anything.

(It's a bit of a habit for recruitments. Stuff can get lost in longer ones, and having everybody re-post their ideas at the deadline makes them way easier to sort.)

Aye, still checking when I can.
But my suggested submission, while "mechanically" complete up until Level 11 or beyond, and established as a person, is not adapted to have the backstory fit into this setting, nor adapted to the exact changes that this recruitment will differ by, so hardly can be considered complete as a character submission. I still offer him up as a "complete idea" to increase the variety to pick from, and would adapt him if choosen.
