Shelby wipes the spider gore off of her blade, then leads them further into the cavern, looking about for anything of interest. This surely couldn't have been the terror of the goblin tribe.

Shutain nodded. "I'd really rather no go for such a swim if there is a way to avoid it. It is not something I'm especially skilled at."

Selbarina Renarin |

Shrugging, Shelby leads the others down the passage to the Southeast, hoping it connecting with the original tunnel so they could progress down that way for a while, since it seemed the main tunnel anyway.

Hisoka Izanagi |

Hisoka follows Shelby, an attempt to be silent was soon dashed as he nearly tripped over some loose stone. He shot an apologetic look to his companions as the sound bounced off the cavern walls.

Shutai glanced around, double checking the water before she entered. She had heard that sometimes certain flows could drag you underneath even in reasonably shallow water. She didn't think she would be strong enough to drag herself out.

Shelby hangs back, waiting for her foster sister to check things out. If she gives the all clear, she will proceed forward into the shallow water, keeping a wary eye out for complications.

Nodding, Shutai wades out into the water, clawed feet finding purchase as best they could.

Selbarina Renarin |

As the going gets perilously slippery, Shelby decides that caution is the better part of valor and backs up to the waters edge, keeping an eye on things as she lets her more agile companion scope things out.

Acrobatics: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Hisoka follows Shutai into the water, careful steps bringing him in, his hand on the pommel of his wakizashi as if to steady himself.

Shutai |

Shutai paused to examine the skeletons. Her knowledge of non-magical healing was limited, but any weapon or animal blows should be obvious. If they were simply drowned and washed here by the tide they should have no more than broken bones.

Shutai |

"I think they were drowned," Shutai murmured to the others, "And washed here. But I can't be certain." She glanced over at the western exit and started moving towards it.

Hisoka Izanagi |

Hisoka nods, his eyes on the skeletons as he trudges on behind Shutai.

GM Rednal |
The western passageway when north for a number of feet before opening up into one last cavern. Within the chamber, towards the back, a skeleton in the armor of a samurai sat motionless atop a large jade and cherry wood chest that had clearly been set onto the floor a long time ago. A fair bit of dust covered both of them.

Shutai |

Shutai stopped as soon as she spotted the skeleton. The armour caused...flashes...of memory from home, not all of them comfortable or pleasant. And the chest was exquisite. But the skeleton, despite it's dust, could be another undead. "Perhaps we should part his skull from the body for safety? I mean no disrespect to the samurai. I simply fear he will rise if we do not prevent it."

Hisoka Izanagi |

A grimace marks Hisoka's face as his eyes set on the fallen warrior and the treasure that even in death he guarded. His eyes rove over the spectre, searching for any identifying symbol. perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
"I hesitate to disturb this one's rest. No warrior should suffer such a fate. Is there no way to determine whether he will wake without disturbing him?"

Selbarina Renarin |

Having stayed back, she calls out softly to the others. "Find anything guys?" If need be, she would strip out of her armor and lug it across the water before putting it back on. She'd hate to be 'that' adventurer that drowned in three feet of water because they slipped.

Shutai |

"A Skeleton wearing samurai armour sitting on a chest. It isn't obviously undead, but we're trying to work out how to determine if it might be." Shutai glanced at the Samurai again. "But unless one of us can cast Detect Undead..."

Hisoka Izanagi |

"I'm afraid that's a skill I do not possess." His gaze drops in a silent prayer.

Shutai |

"I am not sure we can," Shutai replied thoughtfully. "Something caused those skeletons to rise. I cannot believe a samurai guarding a chest from my homeland is completely unrelated. And if the Samurai is undead, I do not think we can simply leave it here."
Shutai cast Detect Magic to confirm the suspicion that something to do with the chest might be causing the undead problem.

Shutai |

"The chest contains magic," Shutai added as she sense the pulses of magical energy. "I don't think we can leave it."

Hisoka Izanagi |

Hisoka's head turns, hope clear in his expression. Hisoka also casts Detect Magic.
"Perhaps a clue resides in the magic itself, can you identify what type of magic or its function?" He stares at the chest and the magical auras, studying them intensely.

Hisoka Izanagi |

"I see nothing but value in what lies inside. I do not like it, but I agree. Shall I or shall you?"

Shutai |

"I shall," Shutai replied. "It is my idea and at my insistence we do this - I will have no other take the risk." Clutching the club in one hand and double checking her Mage Armour spell was not up yet, she approached the skeleton cautiously. She didn't want to let it get a first strike in.

GM Rednal |
As Shutai moved within ten feet of the chest, the skeletal samurai stood up, body finally animating after who-knew-how-long. That wasn't all, though. From the cavern behind you, you could hear clacking and clattering noises as the skeletons in that chamber rose up and began marching towards the tunnel, blocking your escape route.
"Thieves!" it hissed. "Rokuro's treasure does not belong to you!"

The snowball struck the skeleton and burst apart into fragments of ice, with no sign it had done anything at all. Selbarina's attack was a little more effective, though as an undead, it didn't take anywhere near full damage. A moment later, it lashed out with its weapon - a gorgeous-looking wakizashi.

Grunting, Shutai turned her attention away from the main opponent for the moment. If the Snowball spell was so useless against it, then there wasn't likely to be much else she could other than pump Cure Light Wound spells into it.
Hisoka and Selbarnia could deal with that. She could try and eliminate the three monster behind them. Dashing forwards, she reached out to the nearest, doing exactly what she had assumed - attacking it with her usual healing spell.

Shutai, I need you to add the Save DCs for spells and your Concentration bonuses to your profile.

Shutai |

Done. I've noted the DC for each level of spells, along with exceptions such as Enchantment spells.
Grunting at the damage she had been dealt, Shutai was at least pleased to have destroyed one of the creatures. It was risky - the wound wasn't pleasant - but her tactic was working, and keeping them occupied from attacking the others while they fought.
Casting the spell and holding it in her hand, she moved towards the Skeleton attacking Shelby and delivered the blessed attack.

The next skeleton that Shutai attacked leaned out of the way of her blow, seeming disinclined to get too close to that much positive energy - though on the bright side, at least the spell wasn't discharged.
Meanwhile, the Samurai sidestepped Hisoka's swing before bringing his weapon up and deflecting Selbarina's strike. The weapon was flipped around a moment later, and the skeleton jabbed out in a backhand stab, aiming to plunge the weapon right into Selbarina's side.
