I need some advice (and maybe DM guidance) for where to put my first ability score increase: Wis or Dex.
--If I put it in Wis, I get an extra casting of Bit of Luck and Resistant Touch (which I haven't used) per day.
--If I put it in Dex, I get +1 extra AC (+2 total). The problem is that will be negated when I eventually get full plate which has a max of +1 AC bonus from Dex until I can get Mithral Full Plate. So...is it possible for me to get mythral full plate before level 8 when we get the next ability score bump?
My focus is raising my AC so I can be a better tank. What do you guys think?
I just decided to go with Dex. I don't think the extra cast for Bit of Luck outweighs the AC benefit.

You sure you want Point Blank Shot? It won't work with your spells.
Pretty sure it does, given that splash weapons are weapons. I don't think it adds to the splash damage though.
That aside, unless you're a bomber alchemist, it's a pretty niche use of a feat.

More than happy to provide advice, but in the end everyone's character is their own and they're the one making the choices.
I'm making a suboptimal choice by having Tahata wield a spear rather than a mechanically better weapon because it fits the Shoanti hunter aesthetic that I want for him. I think so long as players are aware of the impact of their choices, from both a rules and flavour perspective, then we should respect those choices.

I did something similar with an alchemist. Before variant multiclassing was a thing, I ended up grabbing a single level in gunslinger, simply because he loved explosions and the idea of a metal tube that threw explosions at people tickled his fancy. Even his tumor familiar scorpion in a top hat thought it was kinda dumb.

Im sticking with point blank shot, I like it as a pre-rec for future feats also.
I get that Losjien is never going to be a Voldemort status battle sorceror, I'm also not someone who is going to power build a character.
Losjien may be the weak link at times but he will be there for the camaign.
Also question, do we immediately get the HP we rolled during lv up? I dont think I have leveled mid exploration before.
Yes you gain the new HP but don't heal other damage.
I figure HP doesn't just reflect cuts and scrapes but also your ability to shrug off injuries.
So I am GMing a level 16 game on another board and it is a challenge but also a learning experience. One of the things I have been struggling with is how to track HP, AC and statuses so to that end I am going to start adding a footer to each of my game posts.
One of the things you should know is that it is not uncommon for a post in combat to take me 45 minutes to an hour so this is partially a way to keep me sane as well.
Any feedback is welcome and this template can be found on the Tactical Maps page where we track other templates. The initiative tracker would remain the same but I will pull the damage counter out of it.

I agree, I think a stats tracker at the end of each post is really helpful.
Congratulations Losjien! It's a huge change but I'm sure it'll be great. I've got a nearly-3 year old and I wouldn't change her for the world.

On another note, now that I have Bonus Channeled Energy is there any easy way to use the dice roller to add 1/3 of the rolled value? So far, I've just been previewing and adding the result.
I just tried a few formulas and nothing seems to work. I do not think this roller can do beyond + and - in equations. I think what you are doing is the only way.

Would not mind the ring of ram for Losjien, I think it could be good for situations like the one we were just in. Most of his moves are good against groups of enemies, not 1 large one.
Makes sense to me that you take it. It's not going to last long with only 10 charges, but it could be a good backup.
I put my name next to one of the amulets of mighty fists and the shield.
I have been having some fun with the long spear approach, but as my unarmed attacks are getting better (the damage dice increase, and now adding the amulet), the spear is less useful. It will still be a good backup to hold on to, but I am thinking of going with a shield and fist approach for a while.

Congrats on 5000 posts! it didn't feel too rushed. it's hard to get all the info across between books in these APs. I have the same struggle with my RL group. How much do we actually want to sit through and roll play and how much should just be given in an email and let us move on. I think this was good. better than spending 3 or 4 days in real time looking in the last room or two.

On gear:
If it doesn't benefit anyone more, the +2 Wisdom headband represents an extra lvl3 spell slot for Kagyu. None of the other gear would benefit him much so it's up for grabs/sale.
Sorry on the delay posting. I was at a Wedding Sunday and now I'm out in Oregon again until Wednesday (the best man at my wedding was proposing to his gf, and my dad retired last Friday!).
Lastly:
I'm trying to build a super tanky healer but I'm not sure the best way to absorb some of these hits for you guys. Compel Hostility probably won't work against big bads because of the spell defense, and I can't hit hard/freqently enough to pull monster attention. I dunno. Do you guys have any ideas/suggestions?
Tanking (in the MMO sense) is very difficult to achieve in Pathfinder because most enemies are intelligent enough to not be taken in by it. If your AC is too high or if you're not threatening enough they'll pick another target who's easier to hit or who puts out more damage. There are a couple of feats, but they're pretty cruddy, and you've clearly found some of the spells that help, but that's really about it.
If you want to play a tank-esque cleric then my advice would be to grab some heavy armour, get yourself a glaive (Shelyn's favoured weapon) and think about using Combat Patrol or combat manoeuvres to control the battlefield. You're not really built to be doing lots of damage but you can easily draw a lot of enemy attention but making lots of AoOs or trying to trip anything that comes near you.
I'm sure others will have some advice, but that'd be my suggestion.
The monk will get his hands on that other Amulet of Fist-Punching.
Also Kagyu, that Pearl of Power would benefit you greatly. One extra 1st Level spell is a serious boon.
So can we take some time during this first travelling bit to liquidate our loot and hand out the gold?
Has everyone put their names next to the stuff they want? I seems like at this point we should likely have the money to each be able to upgrade some weapons/armor or buy some of the basic gear.
What are the rules on buying magic items for this campaign? You said we could have someone run shopping errands for us, would we be able to assume he can locate things like Cloaks of Resistance and such?

For night watches, Durian will happily take one of the watches, I'll just claim the first watch of the night for simplicity. Maybe assume 8 hours rest, 2 hour watch shifts? If Gortrek, Durian, Miyagi and Tahata each take a shift, that lets the 2 full casters sleep more.
Yes, you will reach a town shortly. Just need to establish watches. Going to easy you into caravan life.

I'd like Gortrek to get his hands on a set of O-Yori armor, but I find it unlikely such a thing would be available in Sandpoint. Is it possible to play a little story magic and say he has his grandmother's old set and that the payment for a full set is instead the cost of having it repaired and fitted? Same price, of course.
Love the idea of linking it to your grandmother. Heading back to Sandpoint would take a good deal of time so the caravan would not be inclined to turn around.
How about this. I will hand wave the travel and you can say it is with you and just make the 'purchase' once you get to sell some stuff. We will call it the cost of repair and refit. Of course you can't wear it until we reach the next town. Sound fair?
I updated the item sheet. Kagyu will take the Pearl of Power, and Headband of Inspired Wisdom +2.
This brings his Wisdom score up to 17 granting him a Spell DC of 17, and an extra 3rd level spell slot.
When possible he will sell/trade his masterwork short spear, breast plate and half-plate armor, and replace it with full plate, bringing his AC from 21 to 23 (10 + 1Dex + 3Shield + 9Plate)
If he has extra money left, he will purchase a +1 Amulet of Natural Armor for an AC total of 24.
The only things I want from the list are the two potions of CMW, no real interest in anything else.
If we're wishlisting I'd like to buy some fancier armour, maybe a mithril breastplate, and to get my spear enhanced.
My monk will at some point look for a Samsaran Life Wheel in the next town for in-character reasons. Otherwise, I'll take a CLW potion for my packs. This monk already claimed what he needed from the treasures.
I'll probably look at upgrading my armor, and picking up either a cloak of resistance or a ring of protection.

I'm pretty limited on what weapons I can use, and generally fists are going to be better.
I do see that there are a number of potions unclaimed from before I joined on. is someone carrying those? definitely don't want to be selling lesser restoration potions off!
I've claimed the magic arrows - the +1 flaming arrow I already had and the 2 +2 evil outsider bane arrows - and the ring of climbing for now.
I've also labelled some stuff for a communal party stash, things like the potions of lesser restoration. Any objections?

You can never go wrong with a wand of magic missile early game. auto hit damage is always helpful, even if a wand is only doing 1 shot each time. the sorcerer in the RL game I run is still getting good use out of spamming magic missiles.
other spells might be good to have in scroll form. comprehend languages might be a good one for a couple scrolls since we're getting further afield and might need some translating!
protection from evil and grease are also pretty popular low level spells.
So far I have seen nothing that would not be available, the advantage of not being too high of level yet. Go ahead and note it. I will give Losjien a moment.
