A full charge of Wand of Endure Elements with 50 charges goes for 750, and I feel like we should have two... Even with Durian having his nice boots because we don't know how many days it will take to cross the crown of the world. But I think 100 days should be good enough right?
Also who needs winter? Because if we don't need to make rolls till the temperature is to the point of lethal we might be able to stretch those 100 charges out. Because we have to cover not only Loren, Ayame, Tahata, and Maitoh, but also all of our dear NPCs such as Sandru, Ameiko, Koya, Shalelu, and now Ulf! Also any others we have like the horses...
As to Loren's suggestion, Ayame has a magical weapon in Suishen, Durian already has his amulet of mighty fists, Tahata has a +1 spear and a few magical arrows, however Maitoh still needs a thing with magic fang, and Loren has a masterwork weapon which can be enchanted.
With 750x2=1500 out of the 5294 leaves us with 3794 to get Loren a magical weapon, and get Maitoh something of magic fang. Oh and get another wand of CLW, because ours are almost done... Also if people want to toss a little gold in that is fine. Ayame will sell anything that isn't claimed and come back with gifts! Sound good?
I would prioritize a metamagic rod for Loren over the magic weapon.
We need to change his weapon to a Longspear so that I have some reach in a fight.
If I can't blast, then our ranged output drops dramatically.
Then you need to pick out a metamagic rod, because those things range from reasonable to crazy expensive.
Yeah we aren't really a ranged group... might look into some other options as well...
Two wands of endure elements sounds like a good plan. They're fairly cheap but they're going to save our bacon if it gets really cold, so I'd rather have them and not use them than not have them and die of frostbite.
I'm not too worried about Maitoh for now. Assuming we're not too far from 7th level, I can get greater magic fang as one of my 3rd level spells which will cover Maitoh with a +1 enhancement bonus for seven hours a day, which should be enough.
A lesser elemental metamagic rod of fire is only 3,000gp.
Loren will have to fail Fort saves and roll a 6 for damage to be hurt by the cold. He will probably be ok most of the time.
that's another thing, we might not need to cast it on everyone every day. we could deal with people taking damage every other day or something if we feel we need to space it out. winter clothes and a fire at night would go a long way.
I could use something like a sling just to have a ranged option that uses some STR bonus, but i don't need anything magical so it will be super cheap
Regarding the caravan, if they are in the wagons there is enough heat. You have an experienced guide who takes trade missions, he will account for that kind of basic thing. There can be times when you are in the wagons as well BUT random encounters can, and most likely will, still come up.
So do you advise still buying two?
They aren't expensive.
As I said, better to have them and not need them. I'm sure we could always trade a spare one away at some point.

Sorry for the absence. Daughters school got shut down, for the normal 2020 reasons, after the 36 inches of snow. Been a bit of a week and a half lol.

hey all! sorry about my lack of posting lately. I am in Texas and in the middle of this crazy ice storm. we lost power and water for most of the week, just now getting everything back to normal. luckily we avoided any lasting damage so far (burst pipes, trees falling, etc). I will be trying to catch up on all my games today and tomorrow, and as long as we keep our power on I should be back to a normal schedule.
Glad you managed to avoid any lasting damage. Looks like it was quite the disaster down there. I am so use to the ice and snow up here in NY I forget what its like when it hits place that are not accustom to it.

So, I got a bit of bad news today, my grandfather is in the hospital. His lung keeps filling with fluid and they found a mass at the bottom. The filling of his lung isn't treatable... and we're not sure about the mass yet. But they have begun to speak about hospice care... his time is limited... Side note we are at the type of thing that is very hard for me in PbP. I don't want to just jump you from encounter to encounter but overland travel is rough that way.
Also I feel I can be much more expressive at the table. Is this hunting cabin fine? Is it a disaster waiting to happen? Its a tougher line in text.

So I am sure you can see that something has been up with me. I am not sick or anything just in over my head in the real world.
The combination of running a company very short staffed and my youngest starting actual school has put me over the edge. No offense to any teachers here but how do they expect parents to work when there are a total of eight, non-consecutive, weeks off a school beyond summer vacation.
Add to that having spent the last year and a half working to keep my company solvent and life is just too much. I see the light at the end of the tunnel but that end is more then six months away.
I want to be fair to you guys and the way this has gone is not fair. I am open to ideas. Do you want me to advertise for a replacement GM? What is best for you folks?
I do not like writing this. Those that have been with me from the start know that I was a once or twice a day poster and now I am struggling to make GM posts at all. It kind of breaks my heart but I do not want the stories to end so poorly. I enjoy you guys and your choices greatly so talk about it and tell me what is best.

I'm sorry you're struggling GM, sounds like you've got a lot on your plate right now, but I don't want you to worry about what's going on here.
If running the game is adding to your stress then it sounds like you need to drop it to maintain your sanity. If that means finding a replacement GM then I'm fine with that, but if that means the game ending or going on hiatus then I'm fine with that too. I don't want to be part of a game that's causing anyone any undue stress.
I'm sorry to hear that, GM. this year is a hard one on a lot of people.
I don't want to add to your stress with this game, but i will say i have really enjoyed your running of this one.
I am happy to either have a replacement GM, or put the game on hold until you are back to being able to run things. i have plenty of other games going, and would be happy to let this one sit on the back burner for a long while until you're ready to go again.
That really sucks but I do understand having too much on your plate. Recently I had much the same issue, and was very thankful for the slow pace.
As to what can be done, I am fine with waiting as I have a few other games that are the same at the moment. Also if you'd like to ensure the game remains in active status and everyone is up for it after the combat the characters can just talk. Great thing about PBPs is thousands of posts can mean only minutes to an hour in game. But yeah I'm fairly go with the flow.
I can keep going at a slow pace and hopefully pick back up I just don't want to ruin things for you guys. I will do whatever you guys want me to do.
