@Moon - the last step for Grok is to get her to helpful in lieu of friendly; this would change the DC for getting starting gear back to almost automatic. If you want to try and turn her to Helpful, the DC is 11, and you'd have a +6 total (+4 for offering fine music and +2 for the dance).
Wow! Is that +6 in addition to his normal +4 for diplomacy? The Helpful status (like we have for Sandara Quinn) is better than Friendly, so we should continue to influence the people that are only Friendly?

GM Rapscallion |

Absolutely to both. Helpful status is one step better than friendly; note the specific bonuses you get from helpful folks in the campaign info thread. Also...you get XP for them as if you whupped 'em, when you change them to helpful.
As we move on here, there are some days planned in the voyage with nothing of note planned save for your daily well...plans. I think we're nearing the point where you could take 10 at your tasks; honestly as you gather friends, you fail far less as they have your back. In this case, I may throw 2-3 days at you at once so that you don't get too bored. This is one problem with the AP that I've found; if we RP'd each of these influencing encounters, it'd take us forever...if not, we miss a bunch, so I'm aiming for a healthy medium.
Keep in mind that you have some coin to gamble with, if you like!

GM Rapscallion |

We're not quite to that point yet; I'll pay out what I'm looking for as soon as we get there. This day (day 5) will be played out like the days before; I was just giving you guys a brief halt to RP hangovers and/or talk quickly amongst yourselves away from prying pirate ears before you go topside. Of course, you don't have long, so perhaps the point is moot. I figure a day like this, as far as my posts go:
Wake up
Get to main deck; day activities doled out
Day activity performances/checks/results
Close of day, punishment if any, ask for night actions
Night activity performances/checks/results
Close of night, hit the hammock

Nor for the rest of us if that's our lunch.
On a business trip to Copenhagen I was eating at the company cafeteria and couldn't tell what anything was, I had dished out what I thought was pear slices onto my tray and had the very unpleasant surprise of finding out that it was actually pickled fish. When you're expecting sweet fruit and get pickled fish instead that's pretty much the end of your appetite for that hour.

GM Rapscallion |

Okay; keep in mind that you can search an area of the ship as well. Karn and Bendrauss will attempt to influence our outlandish gnome friend; I'll roll for them in a bit and update.
Don't worry - the whole AP is definitely not like this, with the mechanics for influencing and the tedium of days on the ship. This is one reason I'll be doing a few days at a time shortly.

Kehlysch |

I'm curious, what areas of the ship have we not seen? The poop deck, the Captain's and officers quarters, and...?
I'm wondering if there is anywhere left to look that isn't an open invitation to a whippin'.

Louly a'Maris |

I was planning to see what I could do about Peppery, but Kehlysch beat me to it, so I figure I'll keep concentrating on Owlbear -- which makes sense for Louly anyway. (Plus I really want that little bit more XP we need to go up a level so I can put a fricking rank into Diplomacy!!!)
Though here's a rules question. I have a rank in climb, which isn't a class skill. However, when I go gunslinger next level, it is a class skill for that. Does anyone know do I get the class skill bonus, even though I put my rank in it earlier?

GM Rapscallion |

Here's what you could feasibly search through without risking being keel-hauled, you think:
Middle Hold
Quartermaster's Store lockers (better do it when Grok's not around!)
The other places are either explored, or may be too dangerous (unless you'd like to give them a try.) Note that I didn't include the Galley and Poop deck, as Louly has searched these already. Louly - let me know if you want to share all of the info on them and I'll post it in the info thread.
For XP - keep in mind that we're using the medium advancement track, so you guys have a bit to go. I know...those darn first level characters seem to stay that way forever! I'll be doing my best to speed up the on-ship actions, as it seems like you guys will have everything explored and will just need to keep working on making buddies. Especially since I have 5 out of 6 of the AP now, so I'm anxious to get you guys rolling a bit more quickly.
I don't see a ruling on that question anywhere; I'd say that you would get the class skill bonus.

No worries....I have no intention of winning this fight; but I am hoping to do something comical with Moon's leg before I'm knocked unconscious. What I don't know...but I'm sure I'll think of something.
I'll grab the leg next round if I'm still standing. But if I have three legs I should get a +1 bonus to stand! (see...its funny!)

Hey all, I'm about to go to a wedding/on vacation (Aug. 3-9) and don't know how much Internet time I've got. It's possible I'll have none, but it's also possible that I'll be able to check most nights as I tend to stay up a couple hours later than my girlfriend. Please feel free to DMPC me.

GM Rapscallion |

Sorry guys - I didn't mean to squash your posting completely; Feel free to add in your two cents, but I figured we'd give Louly a bit of time to get back.
On that note - I'm headed to a slightly remote spot from Sat - Tues; they claim to have wifi, but who knows...posting may see some lag.

OK, so I'm working on converting the four potential allies from the fight into sure things (though really need to get to second level to get that rank into Diplomacy!). Whoops, and I just realized Fishguts is still only Friendly, so I'll work on him too.
There's a handful of other potential allies we should work on over these three days: Stitchman, the ship's surgeon, and Caulky, the captain's cabin girl, both seem like potentially very useful allies.
Also really think we need to find out more about Peppery -- not sure if Kehlysch wants to continue trying to do that?
Looking at the list, others we've not really interacted with yet:
Riaris Krine - the master gunner; hateful one. Probably not going to be able to turn him...
Stitchman - ship's surgeon
Caulky - Captain's cabin girl
Barefoot Samms Toppin - female human; never wears shoes
Giffer Tibbs - one-eyed female gnome
Jack Scrimshaw - human young lad talented at carving scrimshaw
Tilly Bracket - female human; tough joker who liker her rum (Friendly) Be nice to get her to helpful
"Badger" Medlar - female half elf; older; shaves her gray hair into stripes
Shivikah - human Mwangi woman; ex-slaver
Fipps Chumlett - male human; fat bully with a shaved head; shared the lash with Gregor Probably not going to be able to do much with him, but maybe someone who wasn't involved in the fight can try?
Jaundiced Jape - male half orc; greedy mute - tensed Probably not going to be able to do much with him, but maybe someone who wasn't involved in the fight can try?
Maheem - big Rahadoumi man with a scowl
Slippery Syl Lonegan - female human; seems unstable
Tam "Narwhal" Tate - male dwarf; ugly nose; seems to laugh with Scourge quite a bit - tensed
Kipper - male human; gunner's mate
Patch Patchsalt - female rogue; boatswain's mate

It's a 3rd level adventure by RPG superstar 2012 contestant Jacob Kellogg. I just thought there was a chance it might have been you.
And...Moon better not; Grok might kill his potential allies out of jealousy
Ben - you can take 3 night actions if you please.
Kehlysch - feel free to take one additional night action on day 8; you're getting it down to a science
Gregor - please give me 2 more checks, and then you've night actions, if you please
