So Pamela boarded in Varisia.
Karia next at Mediogalti.
Corin and Corliss in the Shackles.
And Sizara in the Mwangi expanse.
Welcome all
Sizara |
Sorry for the double post here, but just to give y'all a heads up, Sizara is quite vocal and passionate about her beliefs in spirits so don't be alarmed if she gives your character a nickname based on a spirit animal she thinks your character most likely connects with, for lack of better words. She (nor I) are being rude to anyone! It's her way to connect with others.
If I start to get carried away in my roleplaying let me know and I'll tone it down some.

No need to apologize. Pathfinder is a big, complicated rules system, and there is plenty of room for a GM to make a house rule. If I ever quote a rule please keep in mind that the GM has the authority to change it or interpret it in some other way.
GM_Ragged |
If you think charge is complicated, you should see mounted combat!
(there are NO mounts on the Shiv. Phew!)
Don't overstress about the rules. Applying the rules is my job. If you want to give me chapter and verse that's fine, but if you just want to give me general intentions ("Bob closes with the dragon and attacks") then I will interpret it sensibly.

@Karia: Our characters are no longer sickened, as per this GM post: All better!.

Went back and edited my post again. :)

Sorry again y'all about being late. I worked this morning and then I had to run a few errands before getting online. Tomorrow I work in the ending but I should have time to post in the morning and early afternoon as well as on my break.
Been a busy week so far.
It sure has been! Don't apologize for your schedule--we've all got 'em and they're all different. I'm about to go silent for the next 13+ hours...but feel free to game like madmen (and madwomen) in my absence! I look forward to seeing a slew of new posts in the morning.

On Posting Frequency and Game Speed
Hi all - the game has been moving along at a fair pace so far, but a couple of players have expressed concern about how frequently they can post and whether they can keep up with the pace.
When I advertised the game, I said that the posting rate should be "every other day at least" and that still stands. My style is to put up a post and then wait for everyone to respond, before moving on. If everybody responds quickly then we will move on quickly, but please don't feel pressurized to post - you are not holding things up.
I want to keep 'botting' your characters to a minimum, as they are your characters and your means of expression and creativity, so I will only do this during an extended absence, or when an intended action becomes patently uncharacteristic or absurd because of something else that has happened.
So, in summary, the game will move at its 'natural' speed, whatever that happens to be. If you can post every other day that's fine. If you can post more frequently, then great, but please don't feel pressured to do so.
Hope you are all enjoying the game so far.

Hey guys. Something's come up IRL and I'm going to have to bow out, which is pretty disappointing. Sorry all, and thanks for letting me play while I did. Good luck.
Sorry to hear you'll be leaving us. Hope everything goes well for you.
Corliss Blackboots |
Thanks for letting us know - best wishes. I'll have a think what to do, and then post something in the recruitment thread.
Heh. If you recruit fast enough, maybe we could find another survivor aboard the Jenivere. :)
Sizara |
Treat it as a Sunder attempt.
I see. Could I use a ready against approach move? Technically, the creature is moving at the party with it's tail, so I could attack it's tail with a Sunder attempt right?
I know that's a huge stretching of the rules to the point of almost breaking them.
Also, how long till my fatigue goes away and I can use rage again? I lost track.

Hot Weather
As you are setting out into the Jungle to look for Pamela it is entering the hottest part of the day. From noon to 3, every day, it is very hot weather. Here's a summary of the rules:
A character in very hot conditions (above 90° F) must make a Fortitude saving throw each hour (DC 15, +1 for each previous check) or take 1d4 points of nonlethal damage. Characters wearing heavy clothing or armor of any sort take a –4 penalty on their saves. A character with the Survival skill may receive a bonus on this saving throw and might be able to apply this bonus to other characters as well (see the skill description). Characters reduced to unconsciousness begin taking lethal damage (1d4 points per hour).
and here's how Survival can help:
(DC15 check)Gain a +2 bonus on all Fortitude saves against severe weather while moving up to half your overland speed, or gain a +4 bonus if you remain stationary. You may grant the same bonus to one other character for every 1 point by which your Survival check result exceeds 15.

Who else uses a rapier?
If no one then Karia will take it.
Corliss does, but ladies first :)

Setting Up Camp
We'll resolve this OOC because RPing logistics is rarely fun.
None of the fivce NPCs will (at the moment) accompany you on any exploration of the island. So you need to organize them around the camp. You have the materials from the Jenivere to set up a shelter, and a good campsite at the beach, although in future you may want to relocate your camp.
The roles you might need to assign are:
Hunter: The group will go through 9 person-days (PDs) of food per day. You currently have 24. A hunter (or fisher, with the nets you found on the Jenivere) can collect 8 PDs of food per day, so you will need more than one, but not full time, and you have some buffer to start with. Jask and Sasha could take this role.
Camptender: The camptender collects firewood, tends the fire, cooks food, digs latrine pits (preferably in that order) and maintains the shelter. You need someone to tend the fire all the time to keep it nice and smokey and reduce the risk of disease. Anyone could take this role.
Healer: The healer counts as an attendant for the rules on natural healing. The also make bandages, ointments etc. to tend minor cuts and grazes, reducing the group's overall chance of disease. Jask or Gellik could do this.
Guard: Guards patrol the perimeter, set alarm snares, dig trap pits, and generally ward off beasties. Ishirou or Aerys could do this.
Corin Aldesi |
After a few days of fishing we'll have enough stores for a while, so we can rotate people around the various roles to keep them from getting bored. Here is a proposed work schedule:
Day 1 & 2
- Fisher: Sasha & Jask
- Camptender: Ishirou
- Healer: Gellik
- Guard: Aerys
- Fisher: Sasha
- Camptender: Aerys
- Healer: Jask
- Guard: Ishirou
- Rest: Gellick
- Fisher: Jask
- Camptender: Ishirou
- Healer: Gellik
- Guard: Aerys
- Rest: Sasha
- Fisher: Sasha
- Camptender: Aerys
- Healer: Gellik
- Guard: Ishirou
- Rest: Jask
- Fisher: Sasha
- Camptender: Gellik
- Healer: Jask
- Guard: Aerys
- Rest: Ishirou
- Fisher: Jask
- Camptender: Sasha
- Healer: Gellik
- Guard: Ishirou
- Rest: Aerys
- Fisher: Sasha & Jask
- Camptender: Ishirou
- Healer: Gellik
- Guard: Aerys
Corliss Blackboots |
OK with me, too.
Unless otherwise noted, Corliss will always leave such decisions and arrangements to his Cap'n (Corin) and his First Mate (Sizara).
Karia Sandleton |
So Aerys wants berries.
Sasha wants a dinosaur?
Gelik wants a kick in the teeth.
Jask and Ishirou are unknown at the moment.
Corliss Blackboots |
Gelik wants a kick in the teeth.
Convenient, since he's close to boot level.
Uh-oh...that was size-ist!Karia Sandleton |
@GM_Ragged & everyone.
With Pamela gone we are lacking in the Arcane dept. Bard spells are more utility than blasting.
What do people think about adding someone playing a Wizard or Sorcerer?
Have them as one of the unconscious people on the beach until now.
