strength to assist someone else, dc 10: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

GM PDK |

As Spark leans into the door to assist the next shoulderer, the rotten wood gives way and the door splits wide open.
The room is filled with water, probably as deep as the outside
corridor. The chamber is in an advanced state of decay, with
a gaping hole in the ceiling admitting a constant trickle of
water. The three stone sarcophagi in this room are almost
completely covered in a thick carpet of moss and fungus.
Three large frogs (one in plain view, two
swimming underwater when the PCs arrive) have made
this chamber their lair, having ventured here through
the hole in the ceiling. Although the frogs have dined
well on rats and other bugs that make their way into the
dungeon, the recent stirring of the dead has scared o!
most of their prey. As such, these frogs are rather hungry
and attack the characters on sight.

Then we're back to the frogs!

GM PDK |

Spark finishes red frog; Konner slashes at the purple frog's tongue; Greenblade shoots purple frog.
Konner: parry and riposte won't work on purple frog as the attack (it's tongue) has already occurred, and it's now reeling you into its maw...

![]() |

ahh...ok...i was thinking if there was a bite, i could try to parry that..should have been more specific with the p/r. also, i thought you could only use a light weapon when grappled?...if no i would have used my falcata

GM PDK |

Konner's slashing is not enough to pierce the frog's tongue! the blade keeps slipping on the slime! tongue's AC is 15

GM PDK |

The purple frog attempts to pull Konner again: (free action)
Pull: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 [SUCCESS!]
The purple frog, satisfied, 5-foot steps to bite Konner from the torso up!
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 [MISS!]
Konner still grappled, or shall I say, 'tongue-tied' :P lol... thus: -4 dex, -2 attacks, cannot move away from the frog

GM PDK |

Let's just say Bram is delaying. So now we have:
Everyone,
Remaining Frog.
GO! :)
(Bram if you read this before my next Frog post, just go twice)

extra dmg if crits: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

GM PDK |

The frog explodes.
Combat over.
The rest of the dungeon is pretty tame with skeletons and not-hard-to-solve puzzles that you will no doubt easily conquer; yet they are time-consuming in PbP. Therefore, I would like to skip to the final boss battle if you don't mind. My only caveat is that you do not rest beyond drinking the water from the fountain if you haven't already. The reason for not resting is twofold: 1) you're avoiding a few easy encounters thus saving your resources already; and 2) you promised to rescue Roldare's sister Dimira, so this is somewhat (depending on your alignment) time-sensitive at this point. You may take as many rounds as you wish to buff before the battle.
Is the above proposal satisfactory to the party?

Okay with me.
Aroden will prep with the wand of Mage Armor and the scroll of False Life, as these are long-lasting.
Scroll Caster Level Check DC 4: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Aroden taps himself with his wand, then looks at the other humans. He notices that both Konner and Greenblade have fairly basic armor.
"Take this blessing; it may protect you."
Mage Armor is +4, their studded leather is only +3. So have Mage Armor for an hour.

![]() |

fine with me... if there's no issues with it, Spark will drink her potion of barkskin just before entering the chamber with the boss battle

![]() |

I'm also good with that. I'll drink the potion of Bull's Strength I picked up earlier.

PC placement updated on the map
The wide brass doors swing open on silent hinges to reveal
a vast crypt. The only light emanates from a torch mounted
above the crypt, flickering with a pale golden fire. Tall pillars
march across the chamber, ending at a dais on the far side, on
which is set a large stone sarcophagus.
A single form rests beside the coffin, that of a comely woman
in tattered clothing. She appears to be asleep or unconscious.
As you all enter the chamber, a dry, mirthless
laugh can be heard from the dark recesses of the tomb.
“So, Kassen’s heroes have come to fight me again. You will
make fine minions in my army of the dead. Come and meet
your fate.” With that, a wicked-looking skeleton strides into
view wearing polished mail and brandishing a cruel sword in
both hands. A cold blue flame burns in its empty eye sockets.

@Konner: Aroden cast Mage Armor on Konner from his wand. So if you want, Konner can ditch the studded leather and have AC 19; since Mage Armor has no max Dex, he'd be at 21 after drinking his potion.
Aroden draws a scroll and casts Shield on himself.
"Our fate, fiend, is not to serve you but to send you back to the grave!"

GM PDK |

Konner destroys a skeleton with a mighty swipe of his falcata, and gets ready to chop another one down.
In the meantime, [BOTTING ALEZANDARU] the Greenblade hops to the bottom of the stairs and shoots a blunt arrow on the Wicked-Looking Skeleton.
Ranged Shortbow, Deadly Aim: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
The arrow bounces off harmlessly of the Wicked-Skeleton's armor,

True to his promise, the Wicked-Looking Skeleton nearly rips Alezandaru in half. The Greenblade lay on the ground, unconscious and bleeding out...

Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The skeleton is unable to hit Konner, but his first swipe was close, which led Konner to waste some effort trying to parry and riposte...
Vs. Spark:
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Still have the remaining 10' of my move and a standard depending on what he does.
Move into flank with Bram, and disarm the bad guy.
Disarm, Flank: 15 + 3 + 2 = 20
If that succeeds,
"Konner, get the sword!"

GM PDK |

AoO vs. Aroden:

Aroden takes the AOO without flinching, as his False Life takes the hit. Then he swings the Sword of Aroden to knock the skeleton's sword from his hand.
Does a 20 beat his CMD with the -2 from charging?
If so,
"KONNER GET THE SWORD!"

GM PDK |

Ah, you are correct! the -2 for charging did it.
The sword falls to the ground! [1 is towards Aroden 1d8 ⇒ 4 ]

GM PDK |

BOTTING ALEZANDARU: Stabilize Check vs. DC 11: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

That's why I intentionally provoked by moving, to not take the AOO on the disarm. Gambling he didn't have Combat Reflexes. I think you could also stand in the square north of the sword and grab it.
Your movement will provoke from the skeleton you are fighting unless you use Acrobatics, but this is the bigger threat.

GM PDK |

Konner grabs the Wicked-Looking Skeleton's sword, and fury dances in his cold blue-lit eyes!
Konner do you have falcata in the main hand and the longsword in the offhand?
The skeleton to the west 5-foot steps to Aroden.
Vs. Aroden:

Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5(miss)
The skeleton to the east stays on Spark.
Vs. Spark:
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3(miss)
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6(miss)
"That was a mistake, mage," says the Wicked-Looking Skeleton as he turns and sidesteps towards to the organizer of this disarming coup, "Now let me teach you a thing or two about fighting on the frontlines!"
Vs. Aroden:
Claw, Flanking, Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 2 - 1 = 27 for 1d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
Claw, Flanking, Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 - 1 = 26 for 1d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8

Well that didn't go as I planned. Figured that 20 AC and 17 HP was better than Konner or Spark had, so I was willing to put myself on the line. But the BBEG has had nothing but hot dice. 18, 15, 19, 18.
Aroden is at 0 and disabled.
Will try to do a restricted withdraw but could really use some help.
Bram, Spark, if you have PFS rerolls, make sure you hit.
Or administer a potion to Aroden, or think of anything you can do to turn this around.
This is dire.
Or, pick up Greenblade and Aroden and flee. Whatever. Losing our healers makes this a bad situation.
