The Bitter Lord Tristan |

Hey all, posting in all my games to say that as of this evening I'm going camping with family and then paintballing for several days, so I won't be able to post. I'll be back the evening of Sunday the 10th, and hopefully I'll be back to regular posting and catching up then or Monday morning. Please bot me as needed while I'm away!
(I don't think Tristan will quite enter while I'm gone, but if he does, hey! Glad to join you guys.)

GM Niles |

Yeah I thought my absurdly high spellcasting roll was gonna keep them busy right up until Mei decided to roll a million points of damage.
Ah well.

GM Niles |

Tristan I've sent you a PM. We might have another player coming along also, I have an easy in for that player...I think.

Aloha-Shirt-Samurai |

Hey guys! I am that potential new player. Getting caught up on the gameplay thread and figuring out what kind of characters are involved. Figured I'd take the opportunity to ask if you have any roles you feel like you're missing. I've wanted to play Rippers for a while so I have a lot of ideas I can adapt in pretty much any direction. :)

Andrej Bulavin |

I was in a Beast & Barbarians game this weekend--first time I'd ever played SW on a tabletop. It went pretty well; it was a one-shot with Seasoned pregen characters, and two of the other three players were experienced with the system. The other one knew less about the rules set than I did. Having the rules on a tablet helped me, just because it was searchable.

GM Niles |

Tristan I've sent you a PM. Also, Tristan if you don't mind...our new character will be somehow attached to you. I haven't seen the sheet but if they are noble then perhaps a relative, if not then maybe a servant or something of that nature. We can figure it out, its pretty easy to add new Rippers.

The Bitter Lord Tristan |

Yeah, that's no problem. A relation would be fine, or perhaps a protege Tristan's picked up from his dalliances with the other members of the nobility. Otherwise a servant or commoner protege would make sense; part of Tristan's Notoriety is his lack of proper regard for the class distinctions.
EDIT: By the by, I know that I wasn't able to be around for the first couple adventures, but should I give Tristan experience to match the party, or keep him behind? Either way works, just want to know what I'm doing.

Andrej Bulavin |

Re possible roles for a new character, we don't need another primary HTH combatant, as Tristan, Rasheed, and Victoria are melee monsters, and Andrej and Carl can bat cleanup. How about an occult Great Detective type? Good Investigation, Notice, Knowledge (Occult), maybe some spells, and like that.

Xie Xiu Mei |

I was going to suggest that as well, actually. A good, solid detective type could do wonders for us. Perhaps an associate/relative/etc. of tristan who's actually part of the British police force, or was at one point?
Edit: Picked up New Power: Armour, Niles. Will that work? was think this, Mrs. Fixxit, or increasing agility so I could improve shooting next time.

GM Niles |

I'm going to caution everyone again about only improving your character's fighting ability. A large chunk of this Plot Point campaign is devoted to things other than fighting enemies. If all your character can do is fight there might be massive stretches where you can't do very much and that might lead to a drop off in post rate. This would be bad imho.
@Tristan You can start with 5xp
@Mei The Armor power is fine.

![]() |

I will be increasing Smarts to d6, mostly because then I will be able to increase Knowledge and Notice.

The Bitter Lord Tristan |

For his 5XP Advance, I think Tristan will take Beast Bond, since even in the first couple posts of playing him I've realized I want Ajax to be a bigger part of Tristan's character. In the future Tristan will probably shore up his face abilities with Charisma and then pick up some other things down the line.

Victoria Lawson |

Niles, I have a question for you; I know a number of Savage Worlds GMs that allow you to start a new skill at a d4 for the cost of one skill increase, rather than taking an entire advance to do so? I was thinking Victoria may end up taking Attractive and Persuasion to allow her to function as another face for the party, especially since right now she and Tristan are the only two who aren't considered Outsiders here in Britain. If not, I still may spend this advance on Persuasion, but I'd have to think about it a little more. Other options I'm considering is increasing Notice and Knowledge (Occult), or stating to pick up my myriad of Combat edges. Victoria will (eventually) be picking up Two-Fisted and another Ripper Claw to really bring the pain, but until I can afford another Claw I don't see a huge reason to do so if I can shore up some other things.
As for another character, a primarily investigative type would be helpful, and maybe for combat focusing on ranged or using Powers of some sort?
Also, I got back from Iceland late last night, figured I'd let everyone know. The trip was fantastic.

GM Niles |

No sorry, there has to be some benefit for not specializing too heavy at character creation.

Victoria Lawson |

Okay, that's fair. I just figured I'd ask, as I often see it as a house rule for people running SW, myself included. I think I will still use this advance to boost my Persuasion to a d4. Would you be alright with me taking the Attractive edge later on, even though it's a background edge? My justification would be that since the attack she suffered was very recent and she's been training since then, she's sort of let herself get run ragged; as she recovers emotionally she takes better care of herself both physically and in terms of appearance.

Victoria Lawson |

Also, a quick note to my fellow players (and Niles, for that matter); I put up a description of Victoria on my alias, and I'd suggest reading it because it contains details I haven't mentioned too much in Gameplay that give a much better handle on her character, and would definitely have an impact on how you all (and especially Carl) would likely interact with her.

Fellow Rippers! I'm preparing a trip to Portugal starting next week and been mad busy these last two days.
I will post later today, a lengthy post to boot... Tristan has inspired some serious curiosity in Rasheed.

GM Niles |

@Victoria Yes, Carl has the right of it, its called a background edge, but that's a misnomer. I just read your background/description and its awesome, thanks!

Victoria Lawson |

It does say that, I just wanted to make sure you agreed that the justification makes sense. It's kind of hard to convey the fact that Victoria is running herself ragged in situations like this, and I expect it will come into play more as the campaign progresses. I just wanted to point it out so that people realize that from her appearance and such she clearly doesn't look healthy. I figured it might make for some interesting role-play with Carl, since he's a psychologist, and she's clearly suffering from some problems after that attack.
I expect it'll make for some fun interactions.

Guys the "busyness" extended in the end. Today it will be! I'm so sorry, tho, and I'd pay lotsa gold just to watch Carl analyze Victoria. Solid gold comedy there.

GM Niles |

I searched the entire damn Players Guide AND GM guide and there are only 2 mentions of the Voltaic cell. Seems like something they kind forgot about. Let's say yes that the cell can be used for other things besides just the apparatus. However, they cannot be used as a substitute for Power Points.

Carl Jung |

You know, I was all ready for a nice social encounter.
Instead we're dealing with someone who's either a witch or a vampire. Or maybe a succubus. Not sure if succubi have stats in Rippers.

Victoria Lawson |

I'm actually going to put money on a witch, personally. She's out during the daytime (England is cloudy, but not THAT cloudy) without any sort of parasol or something, and she doesn't fit the classical "pale" look of a vampire. Meanwhile, he's fairly certain she's Spanish, which would be fitting given the Spanish Inquisition. If Succubi have stats it could be one of those, but they seem a bit above our pay grade for the moment.

The Bitter Lord Tristan |

Now now, regardless of her supernatural abilities or lack thereof, I'm sure we can settle this civilly.
Perhaps with a fine duel! Pistols at dawn, or swords whenever. Nothing quite so gentlemanly as looking someone in the eyes as you put them down, eh?

![]() |

Hey gentlemen and ladies, I owe yiu all an apologize for this abswnce of mine.
At first I got all my dots erased by Paizo but after a couple days I checked just in case and the actual truth is I simply couldn't wirte anything that felt like anything else than a meager filler.
I hitted a writer block of sorts and drawed a blank, but I should have at least told you of it.
I will reread through the posts and try to make justice to the high stakes you have established, but first and foremost: I'm sorry.

Andrej Bulavin |

Just a reminder that I'll be out of touch for the next several days. Bot me as needed.
