Andrei Brightblade |

Here my friend, allow me to help
Lay hands on Lyle for 3 HPs
Saving the last 2 incase we fight again and someone else goes dow but hoping we are clear to rest - if so Bec can have my remaining 2 hps of LoH

Morgran Frostbeard |

"Rest, we need aye, but we should try and find Gundrun as well. As much noise as we've made they could kill him while we dally around being lazy."
Morgran will continue to work his way around the building exploring the areas they have not seen yet. Working clockwise

Andrei Brightblade |

Andrei joins Morgran in seaching for Gundrun.
Seems this may have been a slender lead - I hope we find him. Our goblin has run for the hills so thats our information source gone.

GM Niles |

Room 11
This tower has almost completely collapsed, although the ground floor has some open space. Rotting crates and ancient barrels show that provisions were once stored here A heavy curtain blocks a crumbling area to the south and an intact door leads east. To the north a short passage through the rubble ends in a screen of canvas.
Not stopping to search, Morgran and Andrei continue on
Room 14
This chamber has been set up as a crude living space, with thick furs thrown on the floor to serve as carpets, old trophies hanging on the walls, a large bed to the north and a brazier of coals burning brightly. A round table with several chairs stands to the south near near the door. Near the table, on the floor in an unconscious dwarf who looks badly beaten.
Andrei and Morgran make Perception checks please

GM Niles |

Morgran notices something curious, a slight movement of the door to the north of them. Someone, or something is hiding behind the door!

GM Niles |

Errr. Someone used inspiration earlier...and I forgot to remove it from the campaign info tab. SO if it was you that used it earlier, then no, if not then yes.

Morgran Frostbeard |

Andrei used his and I believe had some use out of it, Morgran wants a refund, his gave exactly the same result as the original roll and neither were good :(
Andrei attacks king Grol using his inspiration that he got for having high posting rate.
1d20 + 5 + 1d4 ⇒ (9) + 5 + (4) = 18 or 1d20 + 5 + 1d4 ⇒ (19) + 5 + (1) = 25
warhammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
warhammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11damage if that hits: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Morgram looks to the door ahead of them the movement is coming from, "Andrei we have company, " turning towards the door and in an even voice states. "Come on out and meet us, if you're a friend you have nothing to fear and if your an enemy we've bested everything this blasted castle has thrown at us so far."

GM Niles |

Morgran, Duncan and Andrei hear scratching and scuttling from the room as if someone were climbing a pile of bricks.

GM Niles |

Andrei catches a fleeting glimpse of a strange looking creature fleeing over the piles of rubble.

GM Niles |

You can give chase. It's just over the rubble (which is x4 movement to cross), as for your chances...I'd hate to speculate.

Andrei Brightblade |

Ugly creature - I can't chase it in mail with any degree of certainty. Lets check on that dwarf is it Gundrun?
Lay Hands on dwarf for my two remaining HPs of LoH.
We need to lock ourselves and the dwarf up in a room and recover but lets also search the place for provisions and supplies and any spoils before we rest up.

GM Niles |

Andrei lays his hands on the fallen dwarf and he comes awake with a splutter
Wha-Who- Andrei Brightblade? How in the nine hells did you get here!

Andrei Brightblade |

Gundrun - The wastes of Phalandin are not to be travelled lightly - you've had a busy day.
Lets see if we can't get some food and rest for you. We're glad to have found you alive.

GM Niles |

Ok, I'll look up the creature's speed, however you might not catch it for a few rounds, and then you would be alone versus something at least a round or two ahead of your nearest ally.
The Chase
The Creature moves 60' away from the Keep.
Duncan scrambles up the rubble and down, he closes 10 feet.
Total Distance is Creature 60' Duncan 10'
Anyone else going to follow?
Inside the Keep
Your telling me! That Bugbear bastard beat me and took my map! My map of Wave Echo Cave!

Lyle Twigstep |

"Oh come on," groans Lyle as Duncan and the creature both take off. Pointing out after Duncan, Lyle scrabbles out onto the rocks.
"Catch the creature Duncan! You can do it!"
Inspiring Duncan, so +1d6 to a roll within the next minute.

Bec D. Corbin |

Lazyness took over the big man now that the threat was dealt with. Not that he had any merit in felling the creature. After all the rage and madness in the last battle, Bec as secretely shaken. He put his mind to work and started to think on how to improve his fighting. Using magic would be good, but that was something beyond him, and those complicated gestures and words, Bec wound't be able to remember all of it!
He sets then for a number of tricks to be unsed in combat, to give him an edge over his enemies.
Then, after considering all of this, which took a large amount of time, he follow the others.

Morgran Frostbeard |

"Damnable youngsters, Andrei take care of the boss, our other two healers just took off and I'm spent." Morgran takes off after the others dropping the quarterstaff and pulling his handaxe as he runs.
Dashing, 50' movement before terrain considerations. Niles most direct route please.

GM Niles |

The Chase
The Creature moves and hides. Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 <--you need to beat this in a perception roll to spot him.
Duncan (inspired)
Morgran
Lyle

Creature 90' Duncan 10' Morgran 0' Lyle 0'
Inside the Keep
Andrei and Bec

Duncan Esteros |

Duncan continues on his chase, but keeps his wits about him, having been chased many times in the past, so watches to see if the creature has attempted to hide.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 + 1d4 ⇒ (16) + 4 + (4) = 24 (using my inspiration)
Almost running past the creatures hiding spot, Duncan just happened to catch sight of the monster, and he skids to a halt!
Ok..now just stay there and lets talk!

Morgran Frostbeard |

perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Once outside the castle Morgran has no idea which way the creature went.
"Lads we need to attend to Gundrun."

GM Niles |

The Chase
The Creature moves and hides. 22 <--you need to beat this in a perception roll to spot him.
Duncan (inspired) dashes forward spotting the creature hiding and is in melee with the creature now!
Morgran returns to the keep.
Lyle
Total Distance from the Keep is:
Creature 90' Duncan 90' Morgran 0' Lyle 0'
I'll wait to see what Lyle does before updating with the creature's action.
Inside the Keep
Gundrun responds Yes! The bugbear took my map Where is it! It's the reason they took me! Someone doesn't want me claiming what's mine as a Rockseeker!

Andrei Brightblade |

Lets search the place then - see if we can find it
Andrei starts searching the ruined keep.

Morgran Frostbeard |

Niles, Morgran would follow Duncan and Lyle if they continued running. Previous post was a comment based on the perception check.
Dashing 50' as well.

GM Niles |

The Chase
The Creature moves and hides. 22 <--you need to beat this in a perception roll to spot him.
Duncan (inspired) dashes forward spotting the creature hiding and is in melee with the creature now!
Morgran returns to the keep.
Lyle
The Creature snarls at Duncan The Spider will take you both. Even if you do find the map! and attacks the Monk its limbs deftly moving to assault him 2d20 ⇒ (20, 17) = 37 +6 hitting Duncan twice, once critically for a total of 3d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 6, 6) + 8 = 25 Duncan falls unconscious, badly battered from the assault.
Duncan You only have 24HP right?
Lyle
Total Distance from the Keep is:
Creature 90' Duncan 90' Lyle 50'
Lyle sees what happened.
The Keep
Andrei begins searching the room and as he turns over the soiled mattress he finds a mass of coins (40GP worth of coins) four potions of healing and a tattered looking map.
Gundrun, now freed clutches at the map My birthright! he shouts.

Andrei Brightblade |

Bec, dont forget you were given a potion of heling from the loot of the goblin caves
Andrei continues to question Gundred and cluck over him.
Is that map is what this was all about? I hope the others haven't run into trouble - if you are fine here I'll go after them.

GM Niles |

This map! This map is the key to my lost birthright and wealth! Long ago my forefathers dug this mine and with the aid of Wizards from Korvosa they found a source of great wealth and magic. The mine was lost when an Orc tribe crossed from Belkzen and terrorized the area nearly 200 years ago....I've got the last map that details its location!
No need Duncan...the creature isn't sticking around its running again. I was hoping Lyle would have posted by now (Remember this is a once per 24 hour post game)

Morgran Frostbeard |

Morgran arrives in time to see the creature take off again after wickedly attacking Duncan. With no spells available at the moment he takes a moment to rifle through the monks things looking for wounds and ways to staunch the blood flow before carrying him back to the Castle. "Lyle need some help here with Duncan."
medicine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Not having much luck as he is rushing the dwarf hoist Duncan on his shoulder and returns.
all I can do before getting home this evening

Lyle Twigstep |

Lyle stares as the creature fells Duncan in one hit. He approaches cautiously, waiting to see if it makes a motion to continue the fight, or just run off.
"Look! We don't want a fight! Just leave!"
Moving 25' and trying to get the creature to just leave.

GM Niles |

The Creature snarls and sprints away with a shout The Black Spider will have your heads for interfering!
Lyle recognizes the creature as a Doppelganger, a shapeshifting creature that thrives on con artistry and deception.

Bec D. Corbin |

"Wha' was that?" Bec asks eye wided the feeling monster. It's only them he notices the fallen man, and he hurries off to drop the potion in the fallen man's mouth.
Potion?: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9
There's no map for the chase, so I didn't move my toke either, but as described earlier, I went to check it as well.

Lyle Twigstep |

Lyle lets out a breath of relief, almost falling to his knees with exhaustion.
"Thanks Bec, and I have no idea. It just ranted about how the Black Spider will have our heads for interfering. Obviously there was something bigger going on."
