GM Niles |

Bec charges forward, rage in his heart, and his splits the Bugbear kings head wide open (His AC is 17!) Bec shoulda been a barbarian....
Combat is over...for now. I'll figure out XP shortly but expect alot...

GM Niles |

7 Goblins at 50XP each = 350
1 Wolf = 50
1 Owlbear= 700
3 Hobgoblins=300
1 Bugbear= 200
Total is 1600/5
Each person gets 320....what are you guys at now?

Bec D. Corbin |

After dealing with the king, Bec takes some time to look around.
Dead bodies. Everywhere there were dead bodies.
Goblins, Hobgoblins, Bugbear, Bear, even his allies! They're all dead!
The big man slumps to the ground, and sadly says "Dinnae had much time with you. But gonna miss you'all."

Morgran Frostbeard |

"Nice work Bec! Now let's see if we can't get everybody back on their feet."
Making sure he is within 30' of Duncan, Lyle, and Andrei. Morgran settles his shield point on the ground as he bows his head.
"Torag, bestow your benevolence upon these who have gave so freely of their own in an honorable search for the dwarf named Gundrun who you sent me to. We still have much to do."
Channel Divinity:Preserve Life - 10hp.
Duncan - 3hp
Lyle - 3hp
Andrei -3hp
Morgran -1hp
To the group as they begin to stir, "If you have any inner reserves HD I suggest you use them. I am spent until we have rested."

Duncan Esteros |

Once he is able, Ducan uses his healing kit to give everyone a boost to their health (HP).
"Let me just apply these herbs, and tighten that bandage and you will feel much better. Ok, who is next?"
Healing Rolls
Morgran: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8
Bec: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10
Lyle: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
Andrei: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9
Me: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11

GM Niles |

Loot List:
Goblins Gold: 7d10 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 9, 8, 10, 9) = 46 worth of coinage
HG Gold: 2d10 ⇒ (8, 1) = 9 worth of coinage
Room 7
Looks like it was a kitchen area, pots and pans and moldy bread.
Room 4
This was a sleeping area for goblins....it stinks.
Room 3
This was an archers post, a murder hole overlooks the front entrance.
Let me know if you guys move onto another room...

Morgran Frostbeard |

Niles current total is 895 for XP, should have killed that runner Andrei :-)
"Many thanks Duncan, feeling better now."
Morgran collects his handaxes and checks there edges before finding a spot to rest for a moment. Unfortunately the building needs to be cleared and the employer located.
"We should start at the front and make our way to the back, probably made enough noise to wake the dead and we should give them time to go back to sleep"
clear the 2 rooms to the left of 5 and then move back to the right circling through winding back up at the bottom right turret.

GM Niles |

room 6
Is pretty much a match for room 4, a sleeping area. However this room is in much better condition and there are well kept weapons affixed to the wall.
Room 3
This was an archers post, a murder hole overlooks the front entrance.

Lyle Twigstep |

Lyle groans as he is brought back into consciousness.
"Oh good, we won?" he moans as he staggers to his feet. "Remind me to... not do that again. Ever."
He blearily follows after the group as they explore the castle.

Duncan Esteros |

Sorry I meant my post to be an action.
Duncan looks over into the room he was exploring before the owlbear and bugbear made their appearances.
"Lets take a look in here", he calls out to the others.
Room 8

Morgran Frostbeard |

Morgran walks over and inspects the weapons on the wall, checking to see their quality. Anything worth collecting? before walking through the room checking the drawers. Once done, he'll cross over to the turret (round room) opposite. Listening at the door before proceeding
Niles, same rules as elsewhere don't roll perception unless asked?

GM Niles |

Yeah actually in 5E its assumed you never roll a Perception check unless its an opposed check vs stealth. You have a "Passive Perception" score that the GM is supposed to reference. So, I typically assume passive perception unless you make a point of posting an action where you search for something specific
Duncan moves into the room, but its very dark in the room so he cannot see much without a light source
Morgran finds that the weapons (5 Longswords, 3 Morning Stars, 3 Javelins and 1 Quarterstaff) are well made and sturdy. Upon further inspection he sees that the Quarterstaff seems expertly made (It is a "Masterwork" weapon and as such will reroll damage rolls of a 1)
There aren't Masterwork weapons in 5E I just made that up

Duncan Esteros |

That is actually a very cool addition..I might have to steel that idea, if you do not mind!
Stopping for a moment, Duncan lights a torch to help him examine the dark room.

GM Niles |

Sekrit: 2d20 ⇒ (2, 17) = 19
Duncan lights his torch and sees that this is a high and narrow hall that was probably once part of a chapel or shrine. Angelic figures are sculpted along the hall's upper reaches. To the North heavy curtains block a matching pair of archways. Between the archways is a cracked but ornate stone brazier.

Lyle Twigstep |

Lyle nods wearily as he keeps up behind Bec. He takes a moment to study the decorations in the chapel.
Religion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
"Interesting, various Gods were dedicated here. I see Abadar, Iomedae, and Erastil in the least who are all very popular."
The little halfling makes his way over to the brazier, looking it over.

GM Niles |

@Duncan Hell man take all you want! I got the idea from someone on Reddit. I was looking for low level items to give the party as treasure and stumbled on a cool idea for Masterwork armor and Weapons.
Lyle moves into the room with Duncan, he looks at the Brazier and sees a small statue buried under some ashes. Before he can reach for it something drops to the floor beside him!
Bec: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Andrei: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Morgran: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Lyle: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Duncan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Grick: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Morgran Frostbeard |

noted the other weapons for the others picked up the quarterstaff
Morgran unaware of the goings on in the other room continues as he was to cross over and check the other door. Listening at the door and hearing the commotion? opens the door quietly to find out what is wrong.
Able to move 1 step into new room
quarterstaff-2H: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
damage if hit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Duncan Esteros |

Spinning quickly to face the danger, Duncan slashes out with steel and flesh at the intruder.
Attack-melee(sword): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Attack-melee(unarmed): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Darn dice roller has been crap to me all day today!! And it is only 9:00 am!

Lyle Twigstep |

Lyle yelps, staggering back out of melee range as the front-line fighters rush in. He yanks out his dagger and throws it awkwardly.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Moving 5' back, drawing/throwing dagger.

GM Niles |

Round 1
Duncan moves to the creature and assaults it, but his attacks deflect off stony hide.
Morgran moves into a new room and sees that this one is home to an altar covered in a bloodstained cloth with a golden chalice, knife and censer nothing else stirs in this place.
Bec moves right up to the creature and smacks it in the head, he notices that his blade doesn't bite as deep as it should.
Lyle moves away from the creature and it sends a tentacle his way AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5. He hurls a dagger that misses wide, nearly skewering Duncan.
Andrei hustles forward and stabs the Grick, he notices his blade does far less damage than it should.
Grick sends a tentacle at Bec 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 missing the big man.

Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Attack-melee(unarmed): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Lyle Twigstep |

With the heavies having moved in, Lyle quickly circles around before lunging out at the creature with his rapier.
Attack and Crit!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5) + 3 = 12

GM Niles |

@Morgran...you drew your movement not me, I moved you where the arrow said you went.
Round 2
Duncan punches the Grick and the rocky hide hurts his hand....that must be why its taking so little damage!
Morgran *waiting on actions
Bec misses!
Lyle stabs the thing hard!
Andrei stabs the thing slightly less hard than Lyle.
Grick
Waiting on Morgran...

Morgran Frostbeard |

the room was blacked out if you remember, listed the movement in the second spoiler(otherwise) if nothing was close enough to attack. Was trying to keep things clean.
Moving towards the commotion on the other side of the heavy curtains, Morgran see the creature confronting his companions. Swinging the staff he is carrying with both hands he yells "Leave them alone!
quarterstaff (2H): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Dmg: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

GM Niles |

Round 2
Duncan punches the Grick and the rocky hide hurts his hand....that must be why its taking so little damage!
Morgran moves and attacks the Grick, but the angle causes him to miss.
Bec misses!
Lyle stabs the thing hard!
Andrei stabs the thing slightly less hard than Lyle.
Grick attacks Lyle Tentacle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 hitting the Bard for 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3) + 2 = 7 and then the Grick tries to bite Lyle Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 but his meager armor protects him!

Andrei attacks again 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 for 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 damage.
Withdraw Lyle - we all should withdraw, this foe is beyond us!

Duncan Esteros |

Duncan once again strikes at the weird creature.
Attack-Melee: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Attack-Melee: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

GM Niles |

Resistance in 5E is very very powerful. Resistance to ALL nonmagical damage is like...wow. I guess its good I rolled low on all its attacks
Round 3
Duncan hits once, his hand again throbbing from the blow.
Morgran *holding
Bec stabs the thing but his blade does little more than scratch its hide.
Lyle withdraws
Andrei slams his blade on the creature's tough hide and it gives! The creature shudders once, twice and then keels over.
Grick
Combat Over everyone gets 90XP
Welcome to level 3!

Morgran Frostbeard |

"ok who keeps finding all the critters? Nevermind, don't wanna know just stop. Some decent weapons around the corner there in the other room. Duncan, are you any good with this thing, it appears exceptionally well made." Morgran states looking from the creature to the companions.
"Might want to check this other room out behind the curtains. Some kinda alter with a golden cup."
