Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Imrana might have taken one of the holy symbols out of academic curiosity. She has a 12 strength, so carry weight is not much of an issue for her
Imrana approaches the apparent altar, craning her neck to investigate the bowl and daggers, curious as to what could have caused such stains.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Generally, holy symbols don't weigh that much, so I doubt encumbrance would come into it...
"What charming decor they have around here..."
Wyatt, taking note of the guards not-so-friendly smirks, keeps up a good pace, purposefully crossing the room to the door on the other side as quickly as he can, and then opening it to see what awaits on the other side.

![]() |

"...and messing around with that sort of thing is a good idea...!?"
When he sees what Jair is planning to do, Wyatt simply throws the door open, and steps through, pressing himself to the wall on the other side.
Hopefully placing himself outside the blast radius of whatever may or may not be about to be set off ;-)

![]() |

I assumed all the stuff was in the crate which is why I made the strength comment.
"I don't like the decor, kennit. There's a head-scrambler in here, and the pan's heating."

Jair: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
As Jair presents the unholy symbol, all light extinguishes for a few seconds. You hear a silent scream within your minds. Jair's head momentarily fills with images of her deepest, darkest fear, before the vision subsides and the light returns. Successfully saved. Feel free to share as much or as little as you wish.
Swinging open the door in front of Wyatt, you find the room contains all sorts of crates, barrels, and boxes. There are three other doors, and an opening leading down a far hallway.

![]() |

Doubtful instantly goes on the alert, as the lights go out and his eyes adjust to the darkness, muttering something under his breath.
As no further danger seems to manifest and the lights come back, he looks around scowling, before moving across the room to the next door hugging the wall and giving the altar a wide berth, as if expecting it to have more tricks up its metaphorical sleeves.

Thorn tags along, silently, keeping an eye out with Doubtful:
Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 (Additional +3 for traps)

![]() |

Once everyone is in the "darkness room", Dunkel closes the door to give them a little privacy from the ratpeople.
(Imrana and Jair icons still back in the first room)
He shrugs at Doubtful, but otherwise just keeps his eyes open as he takes a few steps ahead to gaze down the open hallway heading west.

![]() |

Jair was a little shaken by the vision, but she learns something of it, her deepest fear.
Nothing to worries about, the Mother of Monster tries to show me her strength, she failed. My god protect me from her false vision.
Let's go.

![]() |

Imrana will scan the crates and boxes with detect magic, idly humming to herself. She notes Jair's run-in with some sort of magical spell in her book with little fanfare.
"The standard rule when confronted with multiple ways to progress is to take the leftmost one. It has been this way since the time of the Great Nex."

"It's not a maze" Doubtful mutters in response, staring suspiciously at the various doorways as if expecting it to prove him wrong any second.
"We're looking for the merchant lady." He adds sullenly. "When looking for a person in charge, I'd think you'd go down the middle."
He waves absently at the doorway in question, then sighs slightly with a shrug. "It's all goes wrong, whichever way we go."
He glances at Wyatt with a frown. "I don't think they'd like us going through their stuff."

![]() |

Imrana abruptly stops as Doubtful responds.
"We're not in a maze? Oh."
She glances about as if just now seeing the room.
"Oh. I suppose we are not."
Open door sounds fine to me

![]() |

"Oi, you go for the left when when it's a tangle, and open when she's already paid for. Let's check the hall before the door. But do it quiet like..."

K: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Y: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
As Vaughn begins to walk down the hallway, a voice calls out.
"Welcome, welcome! What is it you're here for? Drugs? Poison?"
Once you come into view, you'll see a wide, open chamber that smells of rotten flesh and harsh chemicals. A curved workbench with dozens of drawers sits against the southern wall of this room, its surface covered with surgical tools, body parts, and alchemical items. On the workbench, a hairless six-legged rat the size of a housecat floats in a vat of blue liquid. The creature’s body is covered in surgical wounds that have been carefully sutured shut.
A much larger version of the rat-creature stands in one corner, accompanied by a small-grey skinned humanoid, grinning wildly.
Thorn can tell the area positioned directly at the entrance at the room has a dangerously unstable floor, and is likely to collapse.
Knowledge Arcana for the rat-thing. DC 10 local for Wayangs, who are common in a parallel universe version of the Society.

Not caring about his knowledge. Thorn speaks, "actually I wouldn't mind looking at the list of gut paste and fang juice. We're just not keen on the old dwarven floor trick. Flip the switch and let's do business."

Dunkel eyes the floor at the mention of the old dwarven floor trick, confused for several moments.
Wait? Is tha' code fer somethin'?
Narrowing his eyes, he sees Thorn has indeed pointed out strange features in the floor.
He winks and nods.
"Ahhhh!! Aye, good eye lad!"
He then grunts, and tries to scowl, once again attempting to return to play his part as a hired dwarven thug.

Imrana recoils at the sight of the disected rat-thing, her instinctual disgust overwhelming her curiosity.
"A wayang! I have never observed one of them before."
She kneels down near the wayang and begins trying to sketch him while also marking off a section of the page for notes, switching back-and-forth as he answers questions.
"Are you a normal specimen of your species? Are you considered handsome where you are from? On a scale of 1-10 how much do you like light? Shadow?"

Hello there ! We are here to do business, no need for traps or poison here.
We have several items you could be interested in and we will like to sell to go back to Avistan.

Well if Imrana's rushing up to the Wayang she'll have to go over that area. For the moment, I'm going to assume that she hasn't, though if you'd like to, please go ahead.
The big rat-thing is a Kirrix, an alchemically altered version of a riding rat commonly employed by ratfolk. They are immune to disease and are also capable of consuming diseased material, water, and air, storing the diseases within themselves. While this is primarily used to ensure sanitation in the communities, it can also be employed as a weapon, expelling pathogens onto its enemies. Typical afflictions include bubonic plague and filth fever.
"I wasn't expecting in today...and I suspect that you aren't the delegation from Nagajor that's coming in next week. Who sent you, exactly?"

![]() |

Jaïr smiles at the rat and says I don't think so, as I don't know what Nagajor is.
We are independant avistani's businessmen who have acquired relics and it seems that they are quite difficult to sell in the open market.
We've heard that here, we could find a buyer for it. That's the reason we are here today.
We would like to do the trade today as we are in a tied schedule and we want to go back as quickly as possible in Avistan.
Bluff (take 10): 10 + 10 = 20
Do you want to look at what we have to trade ?

If Thorn gets out his trap springing tools, and the wayang doesn't freak out, then the rogue will get on with deactivating it. If he DOES freak out, he'll put them away so Jair can talk.

![]() |

Imrana wouldnt have picked up on Thorn's cant, and Dunkel never actually said there was a problem with the floor. If we want to say one of them threw a hand out to stop her, that's fine. Otherwise, she totally would have walked over.

![]() |

Thorn wouldn't let a friend walk onto a trap. He cares about 3 things in this life. Treasure, whiskey, and keeping his friends alive.

![]() |

Apparently, it is a treasure now, judging by the news!
Imrana halts at Thorn's urging. She innocently tries to crane her neck around the others in front of her to get a look into the room.

Sorry, didn't see this yesterday... things have been going slowly recently, so I've been getting out of the habit of checking for updates religiously!
... well, that and playing way too much Fallout 4
Doubtful sees the wayang about to attack, and leaps into action, calling a warning to the others.
"I don't think he's friendly."
Acrobatics to Jump: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
With a mighty surge, he leaps over the weakened section of floor as if it were a mere crack, landing nimbly on the far side, and rushing at the man with the vial.
Ok, spending a Ki point for an extra 20' on his movement, then jumping across the 'trap' and moving up on the guy with the vial and around behind him (50' of movement)... he always counts as having a running start on jumping (class ability)
So he clears up to 31 feet, should be enough... =)
"Don't think you should do that." He mutters, morosely, as he aims a punch at him.
And then takes a single swing at the wayang activating Stunning Fist (using non-lethal in case this is a misunderstanding)

Wyatt's first arrow hits, causing the little thing to shriek in frustration.
The Kirrix rushes towards Dunkel and the others, and violently coughs, spraying Dunkel, Jair, and Thorn with an absolutely foul array of bodily fluids, partially digested food, and substances that are better left unidentified.
