Suddenly moving with unusual speed, Doubtful darts out from behind a tree, dodging into the ruins and right up next to the male elf before most even realize he was there.

so.... Burn a ki point for the extra movement... which is just enough to reach the male elf (but not the guy with the bow as well, due to angles

He leads with one heavily booted foot.

At which point, try to kick him somewhere sensitive (ie: unarmed attack with stunning fist)

Should be starting out stealthed here... so this is vs flat footed I believe.

Jair's order fails to compel the woman, while Doubtful's swift kick to the naughty bits definitely leaves the man unhappy, though not doubled over in pain.

Dunkel is up. Maybe someday these guys will make a save.

Dunkel continues barreling ahead, axe in hand, turning the corner as he enters the ruins.

The elf backs away from Doubtful, unleashing a torrent of flame over the Dwarf, who is able to nimbly leap out of the way. The ball of flame begins rolling back into the ruined structure.

Overcome by rage, Amiri hustles forward, ignoring the other combatants in her haste to reach the one at the back caught in the throes of protracted spellcasting.

That will provoke from yellow and the elf, but since one had a bow, and the other is a caster, I think it is a fairly safe risk ;-)

    I am perfectly happy with that ruling (and don't want to bog down the game with a multi-post discussion), but for my own post-game edification, can you point to where it explicitly states that 1 round actions only provoke at the *start* of the action? It comes up for both 1 round casting of spells, and delivering potions to unconscious people, so it is something I would like to know :-)

    I actually had to ask around about how to handle that particular case, but as mentioned there, CRB p187 says;

Thorn holds one blade back to improve his defense even though it impedes his thrust a bit (Combat Expertise AC is now 19.)     I know! At least a sneak attack would have been another 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 4) = 14 damage. Ah well, C'est la vie.

    15 touched but didn't seem to affect her.

    Dunkel manages to knock out the last soldier, and the woman raises her hands in defeat.

    "Alright, I surrender. Who are you? Why are you here? You don't strike me as the soldier type."

    Out of combat. The soldiers each have a potion, two smokesticks, a masterwork chain shirt, a composite longbow (+2 Str), 20 arrows (minus a few shot), a handaxe, two tindertwigs, and 56 gp. Mundane gear from the casters: 3 alchemist fire (each), 2 thunderstone (each), mwk light crossbow with 20 bolts (each), 2 small steel mirrors, spell component pouch (each), The man also has 100 feet of silk rope and a disguise kit.

    Imrana identifies two potions. of Cure Light Wounds I'm going to let you identify the other as well with that, as they're the same, a Wand of Alarm with (4 charges), and a Wand of Mage Armor (14 charges).

    Two potions from the casters, three wands from the man, and one from the woman. There are also two cloaks I failed to include. Imrana doesn't know what they do.

    "Probably poison." Doubtful adds, as he takes a sniff of the two potions yet to be identified.

    He glances at the elf lady warily, before confiscating a couple of the alchemist fires.

    "Well, the bird guys are here." He adds, motioning to the kestrel symbol on the two archers. He shrugs slightly, clearly ready to knock it up to pure coincidence.

    He then goes to check out the trapdoor, though trying not to touch it.

    If she has an alarm wand, that would just alert her? Or everyone? Might be a good idea to keep detect magic going to make sure we don't set one of those off as we go further in

    Alarm could be a mental alert to her, or an audible one, determined at the time of casting.

    The first potion is Cure Moderate Wounds.

    Thorn steps in front of Doubtful with an arm to block him. The motion isn't rude, it seems to be genuine concern. The odd show of compassion from Thorn is a little weird. Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

    Assuming its safe, "Right family, I'm all set on the praeda for the nonce, but I'm hoping you're good with the gravy if I'm dry."

    He then opens it and quietly pokes his way inside.

    "Was just looking." The dwarf mutters, obstinately, as Thorn takes point.

    He lets the man check ahead with a shrug.

    "Won't matter, whole place probably on alert now." He adds ominously.

    GM: are any of the others still breathing? Doubtful will attempt to stabilize any that are not dead yet.

    Silver Crusade

    Male elf is dead. Soldiers had enough time that Jair can stabilize them with the spell if they don't stabilize themselves or others don't have the chance first.
