Quick as lightning, Yorad whips a dagger at new-arrival Purple but the weapon clanks harmless off the side of the building. Not one to be discouraged, Yorad draws another and readies to try again. Grayscales takes an even more direct approach and races up to Purple, swinging his falchion and only just missing as Purple ducks under the blow. Tathane also focuses his attention on Purple and tries to fire a shot with his bow, but like Yorad's dagger, the arrow *plinks* harmless off the side of the nearby building instead.
Thern comes to, staring up at the sky and the faces of several of his concerned companions...and the scowling face of the woman who'd nearly sent him to Pharasma's Boneyard. Instinctively Thern kicks out at the woman and feels an intense surge of satisfaction as his boot connects against the woman's knee with a *crunch*!
Teann calls out for Fuzzy to move around and flank the assassin, hopefully cutting off her escape route. Fuzzy obliges, falling back and circling around behind the woman to attack...

The assassin takes a step back from Lazarus and Thern and attempts to conjure darkness to hide herself. As she does, Fuzzy attempts to rake her with another claw...

Yeah, the spell templates frustrate me a bit too for the same reason; still getting the hang of using them.
Lazarus takes a moment to fall back, away from the assassin and the darkness, and into a more advantageous position to heal his companions. Everyone feels a warm surge of positive energy wash over them, mending their wounds just a little bit more.

Grayscales hauls off and slashes Purple across the chest as he begins to cast his acid dart, spraying blood everywhere and very nearly dropping the man right where he stands! Though Purple doesn't fall, the blow is enough to disrupt his casting and the acid dart fizzles limply to the ground.
Tired of all this garbage and of repeatedly missing his shots, Tathane takes aim at the approaching Orange. Time seems to slow as he waits for the perfect moment...waits...almost there...now!

Orange keeps running for a moment, his body still acting on his brain's last conscious thought in spite of the arrow now sticking out of his left eye socket...then his pace slows and he pitches forward onto the ground - dead.
Seeing their companion's magnificent shot seems to reinvigorate the rest of the group. Yorad maneuvers around to try and help Grayscales against Purple - and though his dagger strike misses, he consoles himself knowing that he's almost in the perfect position to flank with the nagaji. For his part, Grayscales tries to follow up his previous blow with another but this time the falchion clangs against the wall behind Purple, sending a shower of sparks flying.
Meanwhile, Teann calls for Fuzzy to keep the pressure up on the assassin while he hurries to see to Thern's wounds - a quick tap from Teann's wand leaves the brawler very nearly good as new once more!

Between the two of them Grayscales and Yorad finish slicing through Purple Mage like a hot knife through butter, freeing them to turn their full attention to dealing with the lone assassin. Satisfied that he's done what he can to help patch up his companions, Lazarus ventures into the dim darkness with his magic wand held high. The darkness can't protect the woman against the unerring nature of magical missiles and she utters another scream of agony as said missile burns into her flesh. Thern also presses the attack, throwing more punches at the woman's jaw and midsection but even with her many wounds she manages to nimbly avoid both blows!
FuzzyBot the Wonder Cheetah continues to press the attack as well, stepping up to the woman and exploding in a fury of teeth and claws!

FuzzyBot leaves another deep, nasty gash in the assassin's stomach and blood drips onto the pavement with a light spattering sound but the woman continues to keep her feet. With Purple Mage taken care of, Tathane comes running towards the dim darkness and stops just at the edge. Though he knows it's a long shot, he takes aim with his bow and fires but very nearly hits Thern instead. TeannBott attempts to do the same with his own bow but fares no better.

Half of the group scurries to close the gap between themselves and the assassin while the other half continue to sling arrows and throw punches at her. Both of the latter sadly fail to hit their mark but then Lazarus comes strolling up, bold as brass, and fires another shot from his missile wand. The woman gasps as the missile strikes her squarely in the chest and slowly sinks to her knees. When she looks up at you, her eyes are full of malice and hate.
"For ten thousand years we have slept, awaiting this day. Think not that you shall take it from us," she hisses. "You and I are merely pawns in a far greater game with a far greater purpose. In the name of the mouthless mistress to whom all fates are known, I damn you and all your descendents! Lissala, take my spirit to pay for my vengeance!"
And with that, the woman slumps to the ground - dead. An eerie silence settles over the streets, only broken by the sound of your ragged breathing and footsteps. Then, the sky seems to darken and a horrible sense of foreboding settles on each of you. You don't know what, but you're certain that something is about to happen - and soon...

The search of the assassin's body yields up a masterwork shortsword, a set of masterwork studded leather armor, two tanglefoot bags, two doses of large scorpion venom, two potions, and a bag that radiates a magical aura. Though Lazarus is unable to determine the nature of the potions or the bag, you all do take some measure of satisfaction as you spot the key safely tucked away inside.
That small comfort quickly comes to an end as numerous dark vortexes appear all along the nearby streets. One such vortex appears quite close by and you move as one to await whatever it has in store; nearby you see other Pathfinders beginning to gather in similar fashion, ready to face the unknown. After a moment, the vortex opens into a shimmering dark portal and a quivering monstrosity of flesh oozes through - the same sort of creature that the mage had conjured earlier, in the cathedral.
This is a lemure, a devil from the depths of Hell. For every 5 that you beat the DC by, you may ask one question!

It takes a little taste-testing to do so, but Yorad is quickly able to identify both potions as potions of Cure Light Wounds. He also helps himself to one of the tanglefoot bags, happy to take advantage of assistance wherever he can find it.

Lazarus springs into action, conjuring forth an ally to join them in the fight! Yorad takes aim with the tanglefoot bag he pilfered from the assassin's body and heaves it at the flesh pile, but his aim is off and the bag splatters harmlessly against the nearby ground. Tathane's arrow likewise sails wide of the creature. Thern moves up and throws a punch at the creature's head - or rather, an appendage that looks to be an approximation of a head - but the creature is able to blebb itself out of the way just in time. Grayscales fares much better, letting a primal rage flow through him as he strides up and delivers a powerful slashing blow with his falchion. Though the blade meets with an odd sort of resistance it still does its job admirably, leaving a long, jagged opening across the blob's body.

Tathane moves up and around, trying to maneuver into a more favorable position to shoot from. Once he's satisfied he has a clear shot he fires, but once again the arrow sails harmlessly over the fleshy blob's head. Lazarus' spell culminates in the appearance of a heavenly eagle that attempts to lay into the horrible creature with a flurry of feathers and talons just as Yorad circles around and drives a dagger deep into its back! With a burble the creature quivers once and grows still.

The portals along the street do not dissipate, however. In fact, they begin to shimmer as more creatures begin making their way through...

Alrighty folks! How this works is that you have 2 rounds before the next wave appears. Alternatively, you can choose to tap out, i.e. withdraw since you already have the key. You can also tap out in the midst of a combat. Something that I've been tracking in the background this entire time is the amount of points that the group has been earning for performing (or not performing) certain tasks. Defeating this first wave grants the group points; defeating further waves (up to two more) will grant more points. The points get you bragging rights but that's all. I'll leave it up to you guys on whether you want me to progress to Wave 2 or if you want to tap out.

If continuing doesn't give us extra PP then I don't see any upside to it. The downside is that we take more damage and possibly die... If we decide to leave withdraw is that the end of the game or is there a next phase?

Since we don't know how many points we need to succeed at this special, I am inclined to stick around for another combat. Since we are nearly at full HP we should be OK, unless the DM rolls really well, or we roll badly. Still if everyone else wants to tap out I am OK with that as well.

To answer Tathane's question, if you tap out that will basically be it until the Overseer posts to wrap things up - consider it like taking a snack/bathroom break at a convention. We're still a couple of days from things wrapping up, but you wouldn't be idling too long - and I'd try and give you a little something to keep you entertained in the meantime. Remember, you can also tap out mid-fight so if you want to see what Wave 2 brings and go from there, that's fine too!

Tathane moves forward, towards the creatures, and gets himself in to the shadow of the building. He fires a quick shot from his bow then ducks out of sight.

I'm getting out of sight and then using stealth to stay hidden if the creatures walk past me. I'll then try to attack with sneak attack with my dagger to do more damage. Here's my stealth roll if you need it.

Always ready with his trusty wand Lazarus blasts Purple with a magic missile, causing the creature to undulate in a pained manner that is rather disturbing to watch! Tathane fires a shot from his bow at Purple and then ducks out of sight behind the corner of a building, attempting to blend into the shadows. Grayscales charges at Yellow, falchion held high, and brings it slashing down in a blow so powerful that it very nearly cleaves the creature in two in spite of the resistance its skin gives against the blade!
Purple takes advantage of having had Grayscales come to it and flails at the nagaji with both claws, but they scrape uselessly off of his armor!
